My puppies have got to "LPI" for 3 years, both for puppy daycare and overnight visits. Morgan and her staff are so fantastic! The pups love going there and I feel good about leaving them with her. They stayed with Morgan when I first moved to the city and was searching for a home that accepted pets, and over the years I have left them for up to 3 weeks while we have been on vacation and we have never had any issues. The location is easy to find with ample parking and very very clean. The faculty is great, with outside access, a full large bay for the puppies to run around in and treadmills for those cold winter days so they still get their exercise. Worst boarding kennel I've ever taken my dogs to. The place is dirty and it smells terrible. I boarded my two dogs there for 4 nights. When I picked them up my white dog was brown and smelled of urine. Was so dingy and dirty she had to have a bath right away. And my other dog I actually had to get groomed because she was in terrible shape. There is no green space so animals are forced to urinate in the building or the sad space they actually have outside. If you are going to run a place like that then at least bathe the poor animals before you send them home. I'll NEVER recommend this disgusting not fit for animals boarding kennel. I also paid over $350 which wouldn't have been an issue if my dogs came back in the same condition I brought them in. read more

Beware!!! Little Paws Inn will take it upon themselves to put your cat in a room with other cats without getting your approval! I was horrified to find that, without asking my permission, they boarded my cat in a room with at least 5 other cats. When I asked why they had done this instead of giving my cat his own room they said they "tested it out" by having a staff member there for some time to make sure the cats didn't fight and then left my cat alone in the room after he "seemed fine with other cats." Shouldn't it be the owner's decision if their cat should be left alone in a room full of other cats?!?! I'm really not impressed!! It's incredibly negligent to gamble with people's pets like that. They are lucky that my cat wasn't physically injured (so far as I can tell). Mentally, though, he looked really scared and was hiding up in a cubby when we picked him up and another cat was hissing at him when we brought him down. Definitely won't be back! Morgan is fantastic. I have left Luxe here twice now, and she always leaves pooped right out. She gets so much attention and playtime, I wonder if she prefers it to home! Although Little Paws isn't our pup's regular daycare, we send her to Little Paws once in a while because Little Paws offers services our regular daycare doesn't. My favourite things about Little Paws: -Morgan, the owner is fantastic. She is very friendly, professional, and open. When I wanted to check out the place where my pup would be staying overnight, Morgan took me on a full facility tour, and showed me how their daily schedule works. -they are open on days when other daycares are not, including days around Christmas, Easter Monday, Remembrance Day, etc. -there is someone with the dogs at all times, day and night. Overnight guests are in a small apartment upstairs with someone sleeping right there. This is immeasurable in my eyes. Because the last thing I want is my dog in an unmanned boarding facility overnight. -they seem to be very organized. If your dog needs something on a certain schedule, like meds or feeds, they are very willing to accommodate. Honestly, if we lived closer to Little Paws, I could see it being our regular doggy daycare... Maybe they can open a second location downtown? read more

Today was our first day there, we left our puppy there for the day to get some exercise. my dog cooper ran in right away with no hesitations, when we picked him up he was his normal happy self. We've taken our dog here multiple times, but the past few times he came back, he acted strange to us the first night back. It was weird having him aloof and distant and not wanting to be physically touched. Also, he seemed highly anxious and was depressed, which is very unusual for our dog's temperament. Our dog has stayed at other dog hotels for a long stay for us to know that this was very unusual. I think either he was beaten up by other dogs, or mistreated somehow. We're not sure, but because of the very weird reaction, we won't be bringing him back. read more

I use Little Paws as a casual daycare place when my dog needs socialization. She always comes home happy and pleasantly tired out. She knows the word "daycare" and will happily jump into the car to attend. I have also left my 2 cats here for long term (2+ weeks) boarding while we were on vacation and they came home having not had a single issue. An update to my previous review, I have to up their score because they clearly have made continuous improvements to their facility and offerings, plus my dog was very happy to see them for his last few visits. He always comes home exhausted and I've also now seem a few pics of him playing (or sleeping after play). The people that work here truly care for our pets and are happy to spend time with them. I may still have a high bar set by a past colleague who opened a "state of the art" facility in the country of Nova Scotia, but for Edmonton, Little Paws really is as good as it gets. They also get bonus points as they seem to appreciate how to present themselves to Edmonton, both in person and on social media. As long as we live in YEG, I don't see us going anywhere else. read more

my dog attended here for a few months, first off, the weekend manager is awesome, if I needed daycare on the weekends I probably wouldn't have as many issues. The first incident I took my dog home and he had scratches all over his belly, I figured he had some rough play and didn't think anything of it. The second incident is when I came to get him, he had a dime size chunk missing from his snout, the lady said oh he just bled for a little and hes ok. When I asked what happened she said a dog got too rowdy, I had to pry and ask again how? apparently he was laying down, was attacked and didn't defend himself. They didn't bother to call or email me to let me know. again, I thought this is puppy play so I kept bringing him back. The final time I was there I brought him home and he wasn't the same. That night he slept as usual and usually on Thursdays hes back to his usual fetch-bunny-hopping self... Thursday he barely got off the couch, and Friday... and Saturday... AND Sunday. When I bent down to pet him he cowered and tucked away. If you left a room he cried and shook (where as he would NEVER before) I don't know what happened but I believe dogs have their own ways of telling you things... my mind races of things that might have happened and I don't know for sure, nor will I ever. I have brought him to a new daycare and have seen none of the above behaviours. read more

If you care about your animal, do not let them stay here. My dog was injured here and the staff did not attempt to contact me when it happened, nor did let me know when I came to pick him up and pay for his stay. When I got back into my vehicle I noticed he had a tear in his skin adjacent to his eye! His eye was droopy and red. Upon this discovery I went back into the facility to a red-faced staff member who admitted she neglected to tell me what happened. This facility is understaffed and over-crowded with dogs. Admittedly I should have seen the warning signs of their neglect as a pet care provider as my dog picked up giardiasis (intestinal parasite due to lack of cleanliness) from this facility which took months and multiple veterinary visits to remove from his intestine. STAY AWAY from this place. read more

I brought my dog in for a day in June and I asked how many dogs they kept on a usual day and they said 30-40. I thought this was too much as I had seen how small the backyard was, and the building in general is not very big. The backyard doesn't even have grass. Additionally, when I asked if I could have a tour of the premises before leaving my dog there, they said no. I also asked if they had kitty pools for the dogs, because my dog likes water and it was a hot day, and they said that they had them but they don't use them because "the dogs get them dirty and then we have to change the water". Hmm.. Interesting. Then when I picked up my dog, I heard a staff member aggressively screaming "shut up!" in the back... After hearing this I decided to never bring my dog back as I do not want my dog to be in an environment where staff could be causing unnecessary stress on the animals. read more

The staff are friendly. The facility is clean! Love that they were open to giving me a tour of the facilities. Even though my dog has only been there a few times, I love that she's exhausted and falls asleep in the car on the way home. They also do treadmill training, which my dog has yet to do... But I love the idea. Also she doesn't smell bad after a day of play, unlike some of the other day cares I've taken her to. Th overnight stay area looks like a condo and I'm comfortable leaving my dog there in the future. The only downside is that their prices increased this year whereas before, full day care was a few dollars cheaper than other facilities. Will continue coming for sure! read more

This place is great. I work two jobs and hate leaving my dog alone for long periods of time, so I looked for a few places that I could take her a few days a week. The staff are awesome; super friendly, and they are really good with Bug, who's a rescue and really timid as a result. She gets to spend the day playing in the small dog area they have and she's always super happy when I pick her up. I chose to write this review because yesterday, I was left in a difficult situation where I couldn't collect her for the night. They gave me no trouble at all; booked her in for an overnight stay and took great care of her with no questions asked. Really, really saved the day. I feel 100% comfortable leaving my dog here, and when we pull up in the morning, she starts dancing around the car seat, so I take that as a really good sign. Thanks guys! read more

Steve the cat had a great stay here! It was his first time away from home and he was well taken care of. Your pet is in a room with other cats but this was actually great for Steve as it helped him become much more social. After his 5 day stay, I picked up Steve and was pleasantly surprised to find him bathed, groomed, and trimmed (which he had badly needed when I dropped him off!) Steve-O was happy to come home but I would gladly board him again at Little Paws! read more

For us, unfortunately, we had a terrible experience. We brought our cat to Little Paws Inn for a weekend to test it out before her 5-day stay over Christmas because the place we normally bring her to was full during that time. The check-in process was easy and everything seemed fine until my husband picked her up. When he picked her up, he said she was meowing a lot (more than usual) and when he got home with her, he said she looked really hungry. After chatting with him while I was still out of town, he also said that our cat scratched one of the ladies who worked there. This totally surprised me because our cat is a sweet little darling that has never scratched anyone unless she was completely frightened. He also said the staff mentioned how much she hated receiving her insulin injections when in fact, she's never minded them at all. Why would she mind her needle injections here and nowhere else? Was she being mistreated here? Were they being rough with her to give her the needle? Who knows...but I feel that might explain the scratches. Everywhere else she has been for boarding, she's been completely adored by the staff, there have never been any issues, and there was certainly never any scratching! All of this seems so fishy to us and we just got bad overall vibes from this place. It may be better for dogs, but not for cats! When I got home later that day, I noticed she had plenty of leftover cans of food which makes me wonder what they fed her!? If they did indeed feed her, that means they gave food I didn't approve. If they didn't feed her, this means they underfed and neglected our cat! This also explains why she was so hungry when she got home. We were also over-charged. She stayed there 2 nights and they told me the fee was $14/night yet the bill was $40. My husband didn't know the rates at time of pick-up so he didn't argue but needless to say, how many others do they overcharge? Anyway, I wouldn't bring my cat there ever again. In fact, we've pulled her out from the upcoming Christmas stay because we do not trust Little Paws Inn to take care of our girl while we are away. read more

The owner seems like she knows what she's doing, however, some of her staff needs some more training with people and dogs. When I asked one of the staff Christine on the phone about their experience with dogs she acted like I was interrogating her. When I asked specifics on how they introduced the dogs, what they do to prevent and break up fights, etc she was evasive and defensive. There's a lack of expertise in dealing with dogs here with some of the staff and I think they need more training when they're looking after dogs of all ages, breeds, personality & sizes. Also, when I got my dog back he was totally anxious and running for the door, he was nervous all evening, didn't eat supper or his breakfast and he was filthy with some kind of black ink looking stuff all over his white fur around his neck and his legs and side. When I asked the girl that was at the front desk about why he was so filthy she was totally unconcerned. If they want this place to stay open they should put their staff through some more dog training. read more
