IADL For many years, I took my dogs Cheech & Chong, and later- Preston, to IADL. They loved it there. I loved taking them. Whether it was boarding or doggy daycare, you could sense the enjoyment they had going there. It wasn't traumatic in the least for them. As soon as we pulled up, they were excited. Always. Especially Preston. Management and staffing changes came, promising some changes- for the better. But here's where things changed for the worse.. See- we liked the old staff. They were friendly and always remembered Preston and the other dogs. They were attentive and you could sense the passion for animals that they all had. The new staffers seemed friendly, but we missed the personal touch and attention to care and detail the older staff had for our dogs. We took him for boarding in summer of 2015 and he came back with what looked like a bump and a cut on his head- a sore they said happened by accident. Yet no one told us of this until we called to ask. Whenever you call, you're usually met with voicemail, despite cordless phones being a thing many businesses equip. We understood that these things happen, but the fact that no one told us about it or appeared to be apologetic: this was our cause for concern. Kennel cough happened months later. Again- something my dogs have had that I understand can be difficult to police in such an environment. The Birthday program was introduced and as regulars, we requested a photo of Preston with a pup cake. So- one day we brought him in for a play and a groom. No photos were taken. We groomed him special for the photos. Also, during grooming: we know that on more than one occasion, where we had Preston at daycare for the day, we would book him in for the last spot of the day. so that we could get him freshly cleaned at the end of the day. We knew he had been placed in the holding area for several hours because the groomer wanted to leave early. We want him to interact with other dogs during his stay, not spend that much time in a holding area. After incessantly asking for the Birthday photos, finally they took them for us. For us, it wasn't about receiving compensation, but rather to preserve a memory of our beloved dog. The final straw for us came in December, days before Christmas holidays. One evening, after a daycare stay, we saw him scratching before his evening walk. Little dots appeared to surface by the dozen, covering his body, ears, head, neck.... our veterinarian saw him that evening (at a premium fee, of course) and treated Preston for lice. His infestation was so bad, that it required not one treatment, but 3 treatments! A permanent scar on his forehead from his stay last year is a reminder of why we would not only never bring our animals back to IADL, but also- we would never endorse this business to any of our family, friends or colleagues. read more

It was my dog's first time to try this daycare. Everybody was friendly and location was easy to find but after picking him up when we got home I saw a big red line on his side. Looks like a scratch or bite I'm not quite sure.. My dog has been to many dog park/daycare already and this was the first it happened. I told them that my dog is very submissive so they should've kept an eye on him since he doesn't fight back. An aggressive dog probably tried to fight him but the staff should know how to take care of situation like that. Not impressed read more

Would not recommend this kennel. We brought our two Golden Retrievers (an adult and a puppy) to this kennel for one night. Our dogs are very friendly and love to play with other dogs. After we brought them home, they didn't eat, drink, or go to the bathroom for 14 hours. They slept the entire time. The staff are not overly friendly, and they wouldn't let us see the space where the dogs would be playing/sleeping. They would only let me look through a window in the door, and I was not able to see much of the facility. Worst of all, we noticed a puncture wound on our adult Golden Retriever. It is now infected and has an abscess. The vet had to shave a large area, and put him on antibiotics. It's very obvious that he was bitten by another dog at this kennel. The bite marks couldn't have been from our puppy. It's obvious that the bite marks are from a larger dog. The kennel failed to inform us that our dog had been bitten. Had we been informed, this wound could've been properly treated and prevented an infection. I emailed this kennel and left a voicemail to discuss this issue, but they couldn't be bothered to respond to me. We also paid to have our dogs' nails trimmed, but they didn't even trim them. I've been using Its a Dogs Life to board and for their day care for some years now. They've always treated us with the upmost respect and let us know what happened during my dogs stay. I use their day care service every other week to get the crazies out of my dog. She normally comes home and sleeps for days because she's had so much fun. They have always greeted my dogs by name when I first enter the establishment. That for sure means they care. Their rates are very good, and you won't find a better dog kennel for the value and care they take. Recommend to any city dweller in need of dog boarding, Keep up the good work guys. read more

I can't speak to their boarding quality but I did take my 4 lb. Chihuahua, Havarti here for her first grooming appointment and was not overly impressed. The staff were friendly but the environment was chaotic and sterile. I felt like I was walking into a pet shaving factory or assembly line rather than a gentle or relaxing grooming experience. I asked them to cut Havarti's hair short (she's long-haired and it often gets in her eyes, etc). They called me and hour later and I returned. Havarti was shaking like a leaf, her eyes looked panicked, and she was crying loudly. I wanted to take her right away, but when I looked, she looked exactly the same...hair still long. I asked if Havarti's hair had been cut and they said they trimmed it. I apologized for my end of the miscommunication (as this was also my first experience with a pet groomer and I should have probably said "shaved" instead of "cut"). I asked them to fix the mistake and I was happy they agreed. It was a bit noisy in there, and cramped. They had lots going on because of the kennel and the grooming both in the same facility. I think Havarti was scared by all the crying dogs, loud dryers, etc. When I finally took her home she shook continuously for a day. She refused to play at all and would just stare at us with weary eyes. She also didn't eat for 24 hours. I felt so guilty that I had traumatized her. Now we go to more of a "spa-inspired" groomer in Sherwood Park where we have had the most wonderful experience. Though the staff were very friendly and accommodating, the experience overall did not work for my dog. If you do have a very noise-sensitive dog, or one with separation anxiety, I would not recommend It's a Dog's Life. read more

Anyways, a glowing review from me for Dawn who puts on the various levels of obedience training. I brought my little french bulldog 7 month old monster to her for the Basic Obedience Level 1 training, which for $130 over 8 weeks was so incredibly worth it to me! Other than the breeder I got my pup from, I have never met someone so passionate about what they do. Dawn's complete willingness and desire to see you and your dog succeed knows no bounds. And talk about patience! The result is a happy and healthy puppy who is pretty eager to please. And a happy owner that loves spending time with him to keep practicing! The facilities are cleaned and disinfected regularly, and provide ample space to practice under Dawn's watchful eye. She even brings treats that you can use if you forgot yours! Lastly, there's plenty of water buckets and an easily accessible fenced area to let your pup do his thing. All in all, a pleasant experience. I'm quite looking forward to attending Level 2 with Dawn in the fall! read more

We have been taking our dog to It's a Dog's Life for a few years now, and we love it! The staff is very friendly and helpful, and even though they are very busy, they have always been able to find a space for our Pug. Even when our dog has medication she needs to take, they take the time to check the exact time that she needs to have it even if it's an odd schedule. To give you an example of their excellent service, there was one time that we took our dog here while we were on vacation for a couple of weeks. While she was there, she developed a bit of a cold. The staff said they spent lots of time with her because she gets very cuddly when she doesn't feel well... and even prepared her a simple herbal tea to make her feel better. Pretty great service! I also really like that they don't dawdle when they take your dog into the daycare area. They make sure the owner is ok to let their dog go, but then whisk them off to play before they get too worked up in the waiting area. They always remember us and our dog, and make us feel very welcome. I love this facility, and as long as they are around (and we have a dog!) we will be giving them our business! read more

My dog is a long haired Maltese and was returned to me after 10 days of boarding with severe matting all around his neck. This is a health risk for little dogs, as mats cause pain, can lead to skin ulcers, and can constrict circulation to body parts when encircling a limb. So bummed by this update, but even putting two stars is pushing it. Bealsey has been going to ISDL for over a year now. In the beginning things were going great. Even when living in Leduc and no longer working in the city we were driving him in for daycare. In the past while some red flags have gone off. We found out that they were using barking collars on him. The only reason we found out was because my husband looked in the window and saw him, we asked and they said it just vibrated. Even still it was only after we asked. Normally he is not a barking dog, and if he does it's usually little popcorn barks. If I need to work with him to stop barking at a trigger that's something they should say. I asked them to tell me from that point on if there was any problems with him barking. We would regularly look through the window. Our next issue is one of the staff telling us about Beasley demonstrating off behavior and he got into an altercation with another dog and was muzzled for the remainder of the day. I only found out again once I picked him up. Would have rather he didn't sit in a muzzle for the rest of the day and come home with me. He is not a dominant dog, I've seen him book it from an aggressive Pom at the dog park. He's a really sensitive guy. Not sure what changed in the past few months, but it's made me permanently take Beasley away from IADL. He'll never be back. I did find out that there was a dog attacked at daycare so maybe that has left some staff on edge and its transferring to the dogs? Either way if I'm not 100% confident that my pooch is safe, I won't put him in that situation. If he's uncomfortable and its changing the fundamentals of who he is, then it sounds like he's not having a good time no matter how excited he gets to go sniff butts. read more

probably the worst place I could send my dog , I feel like a horrible owner after our experience.... booked a simple grooming session, bath , nails, brush .... easy right? not exactly I leave to go grocery shopping and my cell rings , my dog is ready . the girl on the phone proceeds to tell me that they have to charge me more than quoted because my dog was "bad" , he was unruly, and they had to muzzle him. so my question was why didn't anyone call me prior to muzzling to let me know ??? I would have picked him up in a heartbeat. At first I thought this place was to good to be true, and, as it turns out, it is. The reason why I am giving this doggy day care a poor review is because my dog has been injured at this facility on more than one occasion. The most recent injury I noticed was yesturday after she had returned from her regular trip to It's a Dog's Life - in fact - there were two injuries I noticed, one more so than the other. The first one I noticed was on her back right hip, a giant chunk of her fur and skin had been ripped out (approximately 1-2 cm's by 1-2 cm's), the second injury is located right above her tail (thinking it was just tree sap at first I did not investigate this injury further) however, upon further investigation this second injury was much more than it appeared, the cut is infected and it is deep at least 4-5 mm deep and is approximately 2 cm's long, you can clearly see her flesh beneath the wound where there is a mild green infection! Luckily, I took my dog to the vet this morning because she has ANOTHER vaginitis infection as well - so she is already on anti-biotics (this is not the first infection she has received while attending this day care, I was told by my vet that it is from her being either mounted or being licked - something that does not happen when she is under our surveillance - this was denied by the manager when I brought the subject up and said it is impossible for this to happen b/c there is ALWAYS someone watching, then why is my dog repeatedly receiving injuries???? I will not recommend this place to anyone, the staff are nice, however, anything negative they blame on the dog. My dog is a doberman pinscher and yes I realize they are a breed that likes to get down and dirty and play rough, however, I did not sign my dog up to be another bully's playmate, if they truely are "watching" the dogs then they should be breaking them up when fights occur, my dogs injuries say otherwise. **EDIT** The original message above is unedited, however, after sending several emails back and fourth with the manager, we did come to a resolve and I will give them an extra star for that. read more

This was my first time boarding my 4.5 lb senior Maltese and it was the worst experiece ever! My daughters use this place so I thought it would take good care of her. My dog was to be in her own crate and not with other dogs at all, as she is very timid and defenseless. Their story is that she crawled out from her crate and got into an area where another dog was. She ended up getting attacked big time from her front legs towards her tail. This was about a week before I was coming back from holiday. She had to be taken to a vet as she developed an infection from all of her wounds. They said it was one bite - No, she was bit in a number of areas and it wasnt scraps as they stated, there were punctures. I took her to my own vet and was told that some dog did a good nummber of her. Along with the bites, my dog had bruised ribs and even one ear along with all the bites and was prescribed pain medication to take along with the antibotics. This place had asked for emergency contacts but they did not contact them at all. Instead when I got back from holidays, there was a message from them on my phone from that morning saying they wanted to let me know that she got attacked before I came in to pick her up that day. When I asked why they didn't contact the emergency contacts the response was that they didn't want me to worry during my holidays. It was not up to them to decide. Had they been contacted, the emergency contacts would have taken my dog out of there. Not only did they not take good care boarding my dog, they cut all the long hair off her face. They had no authority to do that ... it's my decision if I want my dog to have a haircut. It is now 2 1/2 weeks since she got attacked and still recovering. She has big patches of complete hair loss and still has quite a number of big scabs to come off. A lot of people may say this is a good place but I really have to wonder after what my dog went through. They certainly did not provide her safe boarding. read more

it's a Dog's Life: 4 BITE WOUNDS IN JUST OVER 2 1/2 YEARS Bite #1 December 9, 2015: We arrive at the end of the day to pick up our dog, Odin, from It's a Dog's Life. It's quite a surprise when he is brought out with a shoulder wound that spurts blood every time he takes a step. We were not advised of Odin's injury prior to picking him up, and had to rush him to an after-hours emergency vet hospital, where he underwent an operation that required stitches, a drainage tube, medical collar and oral antibiotics. Bite #2 (2016, no exact date): When Odin is brought out he has another bite on the shoulder. We were not informed again that he had been hurt. No actual vet visit this time, bleeding stops and we are advised to apply antiseptic cream. Bite #3 November 22, 2017: Another big wound. This time we ARE informed that Odin has been bitten (early a.m.) and that he is being taken to a vet. Repeated calls to It's A Dog's Life garner no information about our dog. We decide to go to the day care and wait in the front lobby until we get some answers. From around 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. our dog has been taken to a vet, sedated and operated on--all without our consent. Yet when asked for the owner's name, we were refused the information because "it's a matter of confidentiality". Our dog can be violated without our consent but the owner(s) of this establishment is protected. While we were waiting for our dog to be brought back to us, we overheard the front desk staff tell a caller that "as long as your dog is a good dog, we will take him". Odin's blood becomes septic while under care from It's A Dog's Life vet and requires an concentrated effort from us and our own holistic vet to get the wound to heal properly. Bite #4 January 22, 2018: We return from a holiday to discover Odin has been bitten yet again. This time he fought back, as indicated from the bite on his face. We were again not advised prior to picking Odin up. This bite could not have been closer to his eye. Our docile, friendly dog has been forced to become aggressive. In addition, we have had to treat Odin with medication for what appears to be a flea infestation. We request information on what transpired and to this day, have yet to received a single phone call. Scorecard for It's A Dog's Life: 0-this facility does not tell you when your dog is injured 0-details are quite often unclear; it feels like they are trying to cover up 0-there obviously is a problem with supervision. The ratio of staff to dogs is what??? 0-dog owners are not allowed into the back to view personally view the daycare space and interactions between dogs. I have never been comfortable with this-would you send your child into a daycare that allows you only to pick up and drop off in a small lobby area? 0-aggressive and/or herding dogs are allowed into this daycare. Our vet confirmed that Odin's injuries are not due to aggression on his part; there are other dogs biting him from behind and sideways. Aggressive injuries show up on the face/muzzle 0-uncaring attitude. We have never been asked how Odin was faring after any of his numerous injuries 0-staff, the experienced staff members left about a year and a half ago. Current staff is quite young and we are not confident in their abilities, particularly in emergency situations **On the positive side, It's A Dog's Life has paid any medical expenses pertaining to Odin's injuries. THE SITUATION REGARDING DOG DAY CARES -THERE IS NO LEGISLATION THAT GOVERNS THEM. Aside from a general business license, there are really no regulations in place. You place your dog in a daycare at its own risk. I have determined this after lengthy discussions with various municipal and provincial agencies and the Edmonton Humane Society. -IF YOU HAVE SIGNED A WAIVER, you likely will have no recourse when your dog is injured -large group interaction like that which occurs in dog day cares with large numbers and dog parks seem to be a recipe for disaster. A few years back I had a Doberman Pinscher that was injured in a dog park; the attending vet told me that people would be "shocked" at the number of injuries their clinic treats from the dog park incidents and he would never consider taking his to one. SOLUTIONS -The Edmonton Humane Society has a public daycare. They limit the size of dog play groups to single digits, the total number of dogs in the daycare is smaller and they seem to do extensive temperment testing. We'll be going in to have an initial assessment done for Odin so he can attend there. I'm not sure if they are subsidized, but they seem to be a less "profit-oriented", and more concerned about safety and well-being of the dogs in their care -rover.com has listings of private dog sitters and walkers, many of whom limit the number of dogs they take to just a few, and will take your dog into their home. Hey AW W the daycare where C takes Bailey was injured several times and ended up at the Emerg vet cause he got infected near his eye. He was bitten I. Some many places it was incredible that he did not have more issues than just the one bite. Don't know where some of the dogs come from but obviously they have a very serious problem and do not ensure safety. Bailey now goes to ------in SP and loves it, they adore him and all the dogs seem happy to be there. They screen them first and post pictures very week of what the dogs were doing. Not cheap I know but at least he is safer there and has had no issues at all. So sorry for your babes, that place needs to be investigated and we can provide details as well if needed. It can't be just isolated to our 3 dogs!!! Go get them I wish now we had taken more steps at the time. Sent to trouble shooters: I have a situation which I believe should be shared with your viewers as my animals safety is at risk and I want to ensure other animals aren't or will not encounter the same. My dogs have been injured 8 times including a large deep gash from him being pushed against a glass wall that resulted in needed stitches, then more stitches then staples. At first I brushed it off with a few small cuts out of his ears and thighs as an accident. But the glass wall thing and when he was punctured several times on his ear resulting in stitches I started doing some research! but now after my new puppy's second incident within just a few weeks, I know that this is not acceptable as their welfare is at stake. I spoke to an employees and manager on several occasions and wasn't given any comfort from the conversation and they basically blamed my dogs with a different excuse each time. Oh he is a puppy! Oh he was playing rough etc. I find this odd raft there behaviour is never brought to our attention unless they are first injured??? Even stranger that two Great Danes keep getting injured but never anyone else's dogs ??? A friend of mine also had a similar incident which resulted in a emergency visit, I have her story and I have also did some research online to find that a few pet owners have experienced similar situations to yelp complaints. I am not sure waft can be done here. But I will dedicate my extra time to building awareness around this day cares emerg procedures and ratio to pets and people is managed accordingly! I was looking for another groomer, I've previously used Barkers and although they are great, it is hard to get in as they are always booked. So a coworker mention It's a dog's life and I figured I'd give it a go. Friendly staff, convenient location, and a little cheaper cost than I normally pay which is great. I was nervous in trying another groomer as I had tried a couple pet smart locations and they did a terrible job, bald spots..bleeding..etc. I will definitely bring my furbaby to IADL again.:) read more

My dog is always greeted by name (was even spotted at the dog park by one of the girls after being on daycare hiatus for a few months) and always happy to be dropped off and worn out when picked up. Their early hours worked perfectly for me, the fact they always greeted my dog by name really left a lasting impression. We left our dog there for a weekend and he was attacked. Another dog apparently didn't like our dog and bit his face. The staff called us right away and took our dog to the vet to be checked out. I give a low rating not because my dog was attacked, but because there was an opportunity to be attacked. Dogs give body language and warning signs. Why no human was there to see these and separate my dog from another dog prior to being attacked. Thankfully there appears to have been no lasting effects from the attack. My dog had the potential to have lost his vision or even his eye. read more

I have used IADL several times to have my Old English Sheepdog groomed. Pro's They are very friendly and the price is very reasonable. Also Bozley is not scared to go there and he returns to me in usually good spirits. Cons. This place is crazy busy and twice now my dog has developed ear infections and kennel cough within a week of being groomed. I do vaccinate my dog, also, I do not kennel my dog nor does my does my dog go to doggy dare care on a regular basis. It concerns me that there are clearly far too many dogs being boarded and attending this facility. Some dogs are clearly aggressive. If your dog does become injured the staff NEVER admit it. Also if you have an outbreak of kennel cough and you have signs posted stating this, to me this is a red flag. I have also noticed that the last two times I have taken my dog in for grooming, he doesn't even smell clean or appeared to have been washed, Bottom line, you get what you pay for, If your looking for a bargain, then this is a great place. If your looking for quality care in a personal environment with certified, accredited groomers and staff then check elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately I have to give this pet sitting service one star because I could not trust them to look after my dog for 5 hours. I had left my small 12 pound dog there one day and had explained to the staff on a prior occasion in great detail that my dog was a rescue and was timid. I explained that she was an escape artist and may nip out of fear. They listened but I honestly did not get the feeling they took what I was saying seriously. I figured they had things under control and I shouldn't worry. My dog is extremely sweet and obedient but acts different when she is in an unfamiliar situation and is scared (which I told them). I left my dog there at about 1:30 one day. At about 2:45 I heard a dog like mine barking outside my house. I opened the door and there was my dog!!! She had traveled 15 blocks and crossed two major multi-lane roads and could have very easily been killed! The staff phoned me at about 3:10 and told me my dog had gotten out and that "all the girls were out looking for her" to which I thought, really? ALL the girls? Who's looking after the other dogs then? I told her my dog made it home 15 blocks away and she explained that my 12 pound dog must have climbed their 6 foot fence that has a cap over the top to prevent dogs from getting out. I have serious doubts about that! She must have gotten out underneath something but I really have no idea. A dog sitting place should be secure enough to prevent dogs from getting out! Then the girl on the phone said that she would tell the girls because they were all out in the rain looking for my dog (I live 15 blocks away and had walked my dog to the daycare and it was not raining nor had it rained all day!) I did not get upset with the girl nor was I rude and I did not receive any type of apology for them jeopardizing the safety of my dog! In addition, my dog smells really bad after having been there for less than 2 hours and they did not check my vet records when I brought my dog in. I am disappointed in their services. NOT recommended! EDIT: I went in to the daycare to get my money back and after a lot of explanation from the supervisor about their care and what she thought happened, I finally, as I was going to leave, received a passing apology. The next day the manager called and apologized again, likely because I had made an issue of it. Regardless, she seemed sincere....and I still can't leave my dogs there. read more

I always recomended other people that Its A Dog's Life is a place to go but our last visit was strange. I brought her home and soon received a phone call that her collar was still IADL which I found very confusing but I went to get it. My wife told me our dog came home, was very restless and finally ran under the bed and never came out for quite some time. We never knew she fit under the bed! She was wary of us and everyone that came near for a while. This is not our dog! She lives to love and thinks everyone should love her too! This has never happened in the years we took her but there was a staffing change between our last visit. The staff are so wonderful, helpful and their rates are reasonable. Our newest pup came from a shelter so we had some concerns, but he and his sisters had a great time running around all day long, eating well and sleeping very soundly. Still highly recommend them for boarding, daycare and grooming. read more

I took my dog here for basic puppy school and I thought the instructor was fine. Although, my friend who used to work at a dog shelter and my husband both said the instructor was not that great. In the beginning my dog was probably the worst in class (only because she has so much energy) but we got the least attention and assistance. You think if you can barely hold your dog on the leash and her eyes are so red and almost popping out the instructor would come over and give you assistance. In the end, it was my Vet who actually gave me some useful tips. Anyways, that's nothing compare to puppy daycare. I could have cried when I got home last night and was snuggling my dog only to find injuries all over her. She has two bumps on the top of her head between her ears, she has a red scratch or bite on the top of her nose, she has scratches or bites inside her legs (on both sides), she has scratches and bits insider her ear, and I'm not sure if there is anything else yet as she is mostly darker fur so hard to see the injuries. She has not been around a lot of dogs but we have seen her play with dogs and she doesn't rough play like that. She is more scared of other dogs. So it is clear that she was beat up by dogs there and apparently the dogs are always with someone. She was so scared she didn't leave our side for the rest of the evening and she did not sleep (usually after a normal daycare day your dog passes right out, not ours...she just layed there looking at us). She doesn't want to go outside, not even to go pee, I'm guessing she is scared that we are going to bring her back there. She is so upset and it is clearly visible. I feel horrible because there is nothing we can do at this point except never bring her back. I don't even know if I would trust another daycare after this. read more

I bring my dog to the daycare at iadl on a regular basis. He is an Australian Shepherd puppy who is full of energy. By the time he gets home he is completely pooped! He clearly gets a lot of exercise playing with the other dogs. The staff seem to reinforce good behavior while he is there and he gets better behaved everyday since I started dropping him off! The staff are extremely friendly and know my dog by name. He is always very excited to see the staff and to run through the door towards the other dogs. What a paw-sitive place! such a great joy to have this facility here in Edmonton. Keep up the great work staff at IADL! Thanks for all that you do for Atlas! read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE! I have been bringing my dog to IADL for almost a year now. I started bringing my dog because I really liked the staff and quite a few of my friends have used the facility and liked it. However, recently I have noticed there has been a major change in the management and staff. When I have gone to pick up my dog, the staff moral seems extremely down and I think it has really change how the dogs are treated. My dog has always been excited to go to daycare but recently I have to ask him if he wants to go to the dog park or Grandma's house because he stopped getting excited when I said daycare. Well I decided to look in the window the last time I picked him up and I am glad I did. He was playing with another dog, running back and forth past the staff member in his area that was standing and talking to the person in the area next to him. He yelled at my dog to stop and sprayed him with water while he stood there trying to carry on his conversation. My dog ran outside then playfully ran back in, past him to the front then went to run back out. The staff then grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the ground and shoved his knee into his shoulder and kneeled on him while holding his muzzle against the ground. I was litterally in shock with what I saw! He was yelling something at him but I couldn't hear. My dog got up and he went to kick him in the butt while he took off to the corner with his tail tucked. The other dogs even seemed scared after he was yelling. I went in to get my dog and left. Saying something to them will not take back what was already done to my dog. Who knows what happened before to make him stop wanting to go really scares me. Although he was playing and having fun, (which is WHAT DAYCARE IS FOR) he got in trouble for it and shut right down. Instead of complaining to the manager I decided to write this. People NEED to know that their dogs aren't treated well. I urge everyone to look through the window regularly, your dog might be getting abused too! If I didn't have a full time job I would try to get a job there undercover to get video proof!! Who knows what else I would find out!! read more

This daycare is just too busy and may not be properly staffed. Be very careful if you have a dog with special needs as they may not be looked after properly. The dogs are taken from you and herded into the daycare like cattle. There has been more than 1 occassion where he did not get his lunch or snack. Our boy had a very bad day. He got his mouth stuck in another dogs collar and I was told it took several minutes to get him free (which confuses me since they have a sign when you enter that all dogs must have a quick release collar), during which time, he was screaming and very distressed. He got so stressed out that he had a seizure. I was told that during the pre-ictal phase he was chased by another dog, was screaming and trying to run away, then went in to the seizure, and was chased down by the same dog, then attacked and bitten during the seizure. He had been 4.5 months without a seizure to this point and I'm extremely angry this was allowed to happen. It breaks my heart. If they had the proper amount of staff (or maybe they just weren't paying attention), it would not have happened. In my opinion, they seem to care more about volume than quality of care. One thing that confirms my statement regarding them caring more about volume than quality is the fact that he has been going there for a few months and since this event, no one has even bothered to call and ask how he is doing or see why he hasn't been back. read more

I have taken my cat here twice for grooming. The first time he came home slightly bloody after a nipple was shaved off. I called in and they said they were sorry and didn't realize they had cut him. Today I took him again after a year and thought it would be ok. I reminded the woman that he had been cut before so she said she would be careful. When I picked him up she apologized that she did cut him again but that it was only a small cut and just on one side that she had cleaned. She said he was really easy to work with, no cat groomers in the past have ever had a problem with him. I took him home to find one small cut, cleaned. And another large (slightly larger than a loonie) 1cm deep gash on the exact same spot on his other side. He has a vein that is exposed. I picked him up at noon today and at 4pm he is still bleeding from that gash. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAT HERE TO BE GROOMED. They are careless and he has a vein hanging out, that she didn't even notice! read more

We had our dog board there for 10 days. About 3 days after we had dropped him off, we called and asked how he was doing. The girl said he was doing great. We decided to cut out trip short by one day, and attempted to call to say we would like to pick up our dog a day early. No one answered the phone, and we had 15 minutes before they closed. When we got there to pick him up, the girl who helped us was SO RUDE. She rudely pointed out that we were a day early to pick him up and we said we tried calling but no one answered. She then huffed and puffed and went to fetch our dog. When he got in the car, he was acting extremely weird and distantand smelled extremely weird. It took him 2 days to get back to his normal self. I had read on a previous review in google that another pet owner who used this bosrding fscility took her dog to a vet because her dog was acting weird, and the vet concluded that her dog had a sedative in his system. And after reading that comment, I got a sinking feeling in my stomach. Our dog seems as if he was sedated as well. We are so upset and we are looking into getting this place investigated. We left our dog for 10 days expecting he would be taken care of appropriately. Obviously these people don't want to deal with dogs that have energy and like to play. read more

Had taken my dog there for grooming for about 2 years but after most recent experience will NEVER go there again. Booked my dog with a certain groomer as they are constantly changing and that is not who did the job which no one told me and this was after the groomer showed up late. Bad grooming job. Missed one leg out of four, missed parts of the dogs stomach and there was a 1/2 inch difference from one ear to the other. Also when I dropped my dog off they did not bother to mention that there was kennel cough in the facility. Several days later on the weekend I had to take my dog to the emergency vet clinic. $50.00 bad haircut and $300 vet bill. My dog is worth the money though but the grooming service and cleanliness of IADL is not worth it. Called to speak to the owner and was told she never came in and I could not talk to her. Asked for the manager and - surprise - that was the groomer that was late and did the bad grooming job. Waste of time. read more
