I have to give these guys a big 5 out of 5. They look after our large breed dog that isn't the best with most other dogs. The staff are very good with our pet and we can go relax knowing our pet is happy and well looked after. They are professional and can tel they take pride in their business. They even provide a safe shuttle ride home for a small fee which is very nice when you come home from vacation. Highly recommend! read more

This is a tricky review to write. Sadly, I can't take my dogs back to The Ranch, but it's not because of anything the staff did. I'll explain... I have been using the same daycare/boarding facility for a few years now. But when I moved to St. Albert last year, I thought I should try to find something closer to home, so the dogs didn't have to endure a 35 minute car ride every time they went to daycare. The Ranch seemed to be a great option. Decent sized kennels for the dogs, that open up so they can roam freely between the indoors and outdoors. The people that run this place really care about the pets. On our second visit, the staff not only recognized my dogs, but acknowledged that one of them had gotten a hair cut. That was really appreciated. We booked the dogs in for the 11 days that we'll be out of the country in June and paid the deposit. The first trial visit we did was for about 3 hours and the dogs seemed fine. A couple of weeks later (mothers day weekend), we left them there overnight and picked them up on Sunday. They were pretty quiet when we picked them up... but figured they must be tired from all that playing! The staff said that they spent a lot of time outside. Later that evening, the older dog had some diarrhea... but nothing too concerning. I'll save you the details of what came over the next few days.... but she developed stress induced colitis. I think it is likely just that the environment is so different from what she is used to. The condition got very bad before it finally started to clear up. We decided it would be best to cancel the 11 day booking in June and book them back in with the other place on the south side. When we called to let them know, they were very understanding and showed genuine concern for our dog. They assured us that they did not observe anything out of the ordinary during their stay. I do not believe that the staff did anything to cause this situation, and I do not believe that they neglected my dogs in any way. And I would recommend them to other pet owners. Sadly though, it's just not a match for my pups. read more

This is a top notch facility. They aren't afraid to welcome any breed of dog or cat. They are professional and like extended family to our dog! We baby our 86lbs dog and want the best care for her. When she is at the ranch, or via BarknRide, she is completely looked after! She always comes back happy. The Ranch Kennels are on speed dial! read more

Have been boarding my dogs here for last 20 years. All my dogs have come back happy and healthy. One of my high energy pups didn't even want to come home she was having so much fun. The staff are great and seem to really care about the dogs. This is the only place I trust with my dogs. I'm on my 3rd set of dog and never have had any problem. read more

The ranch is the most amazing kennel I have ever taken my dogs to. They are friendly and treat our dogs like family. The dogs always try to run back and not come home when we pick them up. The facility is well maintained, clean, good sized kennels with outside access, lots of fun play time, great extras like swimming and tennis, and much more. I had to take the dogs else where when they closed for renos this year. I went and checked out many other kennels and to be honest they just don't compare. I highly recommend this kennel, we shave been coming here for years and will continue as long as they are open! read more

I had a horrible experience boarding my cat here. I put her in during Christmas so I was gone for 10 days. I called at least twice while I was away to check in. Both times they assured me that she was doing well. When I picked her up, the place was smelly and she was EXTREMELY underweight (which is unusual because she loves to eat!). She also had a bladder infection. I would never leave my pets here ever again. read more

Terrible experience 1. Dog given back to me Bloody: I have been taking my dog to the ranch for about 3 months now, on a constant basis, they were basically his second home. At first they were accommodating by giving him his ear medication and helping him gain weight by adding wet food into his diet as we were trying to pack weight on him. He would be at the kennel for a couple weeks each month. I just picked him up from the kennel and The lady told me," his tail was bleeding again from him hitting it on the wall and re aggravating it" ...I didn't get a phone call nor did he look like they actually too care of it. His tail was bleeding, there was dry blood all around it and blood still oozing out and blood all over his back The workers said it so casually and when i asked, what do you mean bleeding again, i received no answer. 2. On top of this when i walked him outside I noticed his nose was bleeding from a large scrape on top, they never even mentioned this to me! it was bleeding so bad blood was smearing all over him and myself and i had to stop and apply pressure and bandaging to stop the bleeding 3. Also, when i picked him up after his week stay I received almost a full bag of food back...He was on an eating schedule of 8 cups per day and i got a full bag of food back? His hip bones are sticking out, I can see all his vertebrates, all of his ribs are showing now, his hair is extremely course and a patch of hair missing from his face, not to mention he looks extremely anorexic and unhealthy. I just paid 240.00 to have my dog neglected. read more

Sometimes I feel like my dogs enjoyed their stay there...sometimes not. The girl with the short brown hair who answers the phone is EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL every time I'm there. It's like she couldn't be bothered to actually perform decent customer service. She's the one who makes the kennel seem awful. read more

It is been six months since our beloved pet has passed away after spending a week at ranch kennels, he died a day after picking him up. We are still left with very bitter and uneasy feelings about how we were treated by ranch kennels, and how our pet was treated after he was dropped off in such good health, and the trauma we went through after picking him up in such an acute state. One of the staff had tried to contact us several times only after they had found our first review on this site just after our pet passed away. I refused to talk with them because I was so upset and sad which left my wife to deal with this person. It was then we found out that they would refund our week long stay for our pet only if we removed the unfavorable review we left on this site. Of course I refused as I felt that nobody should have to go through what we went through losing our pet this way. And it was difficult for us as our first few experiences with this kennel were amazing when they were under the old management. But after being in such shock after our pet died we have made sure to tell all of our family and friends to be wary of this kennel. read more
