At first I chose Dogtopia to watch my puppy when I couldn't be at home because I wasn't sure if she'd like daycare and I trusted cameras more than the word of staff I don't know. I was a little worried because for the first hour she was there she was almost out of camera view hugging the wall, but then she hopped right in there and followed the daycare staff around most of the rest of the few hours I left her. The second time I left her for a half day. She whined and looked back at where the other dogs were like she wanted to go back and play. Like, please don't make me leave. Can't you see I'm having fun. The last time I left her was for my second COVID shot and it hit me hard so I wound up leaving her for the whole day. No complaints from her. She was a tired and happy pup, as per usual. Now she seems to spend a quarter of her time lounging, a quarter of her time sniffing other dogs and half following the staff around because apparently mop is best toy. After trying one other daycare and having a terrible experience, I will definitely be relying on Dogtopia going forward. read more

They will take good care of your pooch! Dogtopia has every pet come in for an evaluation to make sure your dog is good with different types of temperaments and breeds. I went out of town for a few days and had a friend drop off Louis and pick him up for the evening. The dog boarding overnight is an additional $20 on top of the $37 you're already paying for daycare so I wanted to skip that. Tres cher. I do wish there was more affordable dog daycare and boarding options downtown. I have a French Bulldog who is medium energy. He came back totally pooped. If you need a quiet evening, daycare is the way to go. The staff seem patient and helpful. The dogs are divided into two separate rooms for the big ones and the smaller ones. They have a nap time from 12-2 to give the dogs a break during the day. They have rubberized mats to ease the joints of the doggos on their four feet all day. We tried two other care facilities for our two dogs after moving here. The kind and caring staff at this Dogtopia do not disappoint. We have lived in several major cities and with that utilized several care facilities; Dogtopia has been our favorite. They go the extra mile, most often when it hasn't been asked of them. The extras we have enjoyed are knowing our sweet demanding little one is allowed burrowing in sweatshirts, access to inside outside during nice days, curbside assistance, a choice in meal type (not just one type offered), and the ventilation seems to be the best in Edmonton. And the last bit I want to share is that last winter I required emergency surgery and needed a neighbor to take them in. Staff met him in the parking lot, kept them for a couple weeks straight as I couldn't pick them up, let alone bend to put food and water in their bowls. They loved on our pups so well that when I could care for them again I didn't see any signs of stress on our dogs. They even comped the time I needed assistance. Above and beyond. After reading the reviews on this site, I thought this would be a great place to board my pups. I was mistaken! Nothing they told me on the phone matched up with a word from the desk attendant in person. Not a word. I wasted a trip there only to be told exact opposite of anything that was told to me previously. I was told I didn't need the vet records until day of stay.. wrong. They told me in person that they did indeed need them at the time of meet and greet. I go there for the meet and greet (for which I had to take time off of work), only to be told that my one dog wasn't allowed in because his shots weren't up to date. Note: his shots were booked for the next day and at no time was I told they needed to be done prior to the meet and greet. And price!! This one shocked me. I was quoted around the $400 mark, with taxes, on the phone. In person, the price was dramatically more, I'm talking double!!! When I expressed my discomfort with leaving my dogs in the care of people who haven't given me any type of continuity between conversations, the tattooed lady asked me what I wanted her to do about? I had a few things I wanted to tell her by this point but my suggestion was to maybe have all employees sharing the same accurate information. She then asks me if I want to book them in and I said no, not for $800. I told her I could drive to Red Deer to kennel them for less than what they are charging, to which I was told "well, that's the difference between city kennels and... smaller kennels". My review was lengthily and I apologize but I find this place to be untrustworthy and lacking in ethics when they demean a "smaller kennel".. I have a 6lb toy Pomeranian named Winston. I left instructions on how I his hair cut when I dropped him off. I even texted a picture to one of the employees. As a customer I would trust that information is recorded and/or gets to who needs it. When I pick him up he has barely been touched despite me requesting a full cut, which was allot because he hasn't had his hair cut since last summer. There hadn't even been a hygiene trim. I made another appt for the following week but was unable to make it due to a family emergency out of town. I didn't cancel the appt because it was the least of my concerns at the time. By the time I could get him back in it was 3 weeks from the original appt. I dropped him off in the morning and then got a call a couple of hours later to tell me I would have to pay in full for a cut because it was more than a week after the original cut. But there wasn't an original cut. He got cleaned up on his paws, tail, and long hairs which Pomeranian get. He didn't even get a hygiene trim! I really couldn't believe this was even being suggested. During the conversation with the manager she all but accused me of lying about leaving information on how I wanted the original cut even though I was charged for a full cut and texted a pic to an employee which obviously wasn't shared with the necessary people. It's not the responsibility of the customer to record and/or share information like that once it's given I wouldn't think. Somehow I got talked into paying another $40 ish for a bath because it's going to be necessary with this cut, which I agreed to because it's a normal charge for that service. When I went to pick up Winston the cut is a little short but whatever, the place is busy, I pay and leave. When I got home I inspect the cut and it literally looks like something a farmer would do to cut the wool from a sheep. It's obvious they passed the shears over him quickly and left it like that. No trimming around the ears, on the head, blending the hair on the legs with the length of the newly cut body, no trimming of long spots after using shears, etc. Absolutely brutal. I'll have to take him SOMEWHERE ELSE to get it all taken care of. It's that bad. I'm not usually one to complain allot and I've only written a bad review a couple of times, mostly because businesses take care of issues that their customers have. In the end I paid more than $125 for a cut on a 6lb toy Pomeranian. In their online review they ask how they could make this better? They can't! Not happy with the work done whatsoever, i took my shitzu in for a simple clean and cut and she came out looking worse than when she came in, I wouldn't trust these people with a pet rock let alone my puppy. Horrible service. Waste of money. read more

On July 16, 2021, my dog was bitten at the Edmonton Downtown location. There was one staff member in the Romper Room with approx. 30 + dogs when I went to pick up my 9 lb dog. She would have yelped as the bite on her back was a fresh bite, bleeding and was quite evident once I got her home that it had just happened. Some dog must have bitten her on the back as she was being brought to the front. Staff didn't say nothing, no indication that anything was wrong, how could they not know she was bit, they would have heard her pain. I had a bad feeling a couple times in the past month watching the webcam and I am now sorry I didn't follow my gut feeling. I thought, according to their website, the staff are well trained and versed on dog behaviour. Beware bringing your small breed dog to this daycare, they are not safe, or they just might be now that this happened to my dog, it always seems to take an incident like this for something to change. I now have a dog with stitches on antibiotics for 2 weeks and pain medication for 7 days. read more

I can't speak enough positive things about this daycare! The staff is professional and well-trained, and they read the dogs so well. They're so patient with my dog that battles extreme anxiety at being left alone. The facility is beautiful and new, and the dogs are well supervised. It gives me such a peace of mind to leave my dog knowing she will be well loved and well taken care of. Also, customer service for the humans is top notch. read more

These guys are great - wonderful facility and even better staff. There is also a level of professionalism that makes interactions a breeze. The webcams are nice to check in during a daycare day and everything they do, they do well - daycare, boarding, grooming. Delighted that these guys are around for me and my pup. read more
