I've got to admit I was a tad bit jelly wishing kitties had adorable baked treats but I understand the diets are entirely different. The layout of the store was easy to navigate with kitties in the back - saw what? Nobody puts kitty in a corner - just kidding! I highly recommend the CatIt line of toys she ball tracks - they build together and are always a winner with my kitty klan! They had a great selection of Oilers jerseys and bandanas for fury friends and collars and tags galore! There's a clearance section in the back left corner of the store just past the public washrooms. Be sure to sign up for their rewards program - first Tuesday of the month is 10% off regularly priced items. As part of their great customer service quest, they give you a second receipt to drop in a box on the wall on your way out ranking the service you received on that visit!

Ok, I tried my other card. "Ooops " again. Customer service claimed that PetValu declined my order out of caution.(???) It was the most weird experience with online shopping I've ever had. Everything is OK with my credit cards, I even called my credit card companies to make it absolutely sure. Basically I was refused online shopping service. WHY?! I have issues with mobility so online shopping works for me better (usually). Why PetValu should exercise caution to my orders? If the company has problems with processing online orders - fix these problems. That's how you lose your business and your customers to amazon. You can't support Canadian business if they resist so hard.

They usually have some rescue kittens/cats near the front window so it is always fun to visit them while you are shopping. They have a nice big dog wash at the back of the store. Lots of selection for a small store and the prices are good. There is ample parking as it shares a big lot with all the businesses in the strip mall. We have always found a spot right in front of the store though so the parking is spread out well for all the business tenants. The store is clean and bright and the staff have always been excellent! I believe they also do grooming in the back, but I haven't used them yet. Price and selection of foods seems to be better. This is another service I don't need as much, but it's nice to find the furchildren nice little goodies like Turducken wet food. What I appreciate them most about this place is the quality and price of their merchandise. I noticed the price of their cat trees have gone up, but they are still far superior to Pet Smart. Pet smart 'stack' their levels, where as the ones you buy here are 'staggered'. They sell buckle and better breakaway collars for less, with no stupid bells on them. Oh--and check out their awesome selection of all natural dog-treats!

Even with their mistake of the signage being left up they wouldn't honour the discount out of goodwill. Not even a few pieces. According to the floor manager they don't take part in the Code of Conduct, whatever that means. However if the company can afford to put it on sale for a price, they can afford to honour the sale when the employees haven't removed the signage a few days after the expiration. Incredibly disappointed with the service and likely won't be back.

So definitely try and come in for the fresh shipment. Sometimes I bring my babygirl Smaug (Bearded Dragon) here and the staff is so nice to here. They love seeing her and she likes to be out and about socializing with all the humans. I like that you can bring your animals here - even the reptiles. We usually go to the coin operated dog wash at the SPCA but thought we would try this place out as the SPCA coin op is time limited and is often lined up. Pet Valu has a really nice setup. The tub bottom is about the height of a kitchen table so the work height is perfect. There are steps up into the tub which is great as Luke the Labradoodle is not always the most cooperative bather. The staff are very friendly and provided us with two large towels. There was also an assortment of combs, brushes, shampoo and conditioners. We brought our own shampoo and conditioner which was not an issue. $10.50 was the flat rate for a session with no time restrictions. This was a really relaxed approach. There is a heated blower for drying that works great. Overall a really good experience, clean, convenient, cheap and the staff were very friendly. Would recommend this dog was to anyone especially if you have a larger dog or do not like battling their pooch on their knees in their tub at home.

It is much better organized and professional-looking now, but it still has everything you could need for most common pets, at a good price. It still lacks signage and one can end up wandering around lost looking for things. Items specific to dogs, for example, are not all in one area but rather in different parts of the store according to the function of the product. The new staff are more helpful in my experience and I find the store has more staff available to deal with higher volumes of customers. I can't speak to their product expertise. They were great the one time we had to exchange something, no problem. They do need another till, the check-out queue is way too long, especially if you're carrying awkward or heavy items. It also impedes customer traffic through the store as the aisles get blocked. I'm glad to have rediscovered the old in a newer, better form, and am happy to support a local business.
