    When they put her down

my dog was in critical condition she was having a seizure that wouldn't stop. I feel like they were way to busy and didnt bother to try helping her. they left her in a cage while in the middle of having a seizure. they didn't give me any options to try saving her besides to put her down. she was a completely healthy dog, she probably would of survived if they actually cared. had to pay over $500 just for my dog to die. she was my baby, my entire life and they didn't try helping her. if they were to busy they could of sent me somewhere else, not end my dogs life. They didn't even know what was wrong with her, first they were saying heat stroke but I had to tell them multiple times she wasn't outside, then they say poisoning and the last one was apparently brain tumor but didn't even do x-rays to prove it.

I've waited months to say anything, in hopes of my opinion changing, but it never has. Back on May 20th, my dog started having really back seizures. Finally it got to the point where we had to rush my dog to the only place that was open. Unfortunately, this was the only place open at the time. I loaded my dog up and drove from Spanish Fork to Orem in hopes they could help my dog. I rushed inside and explained the situation to the receptionist, and I was immediately told I had to wait, due to the family that had walked in before us, bringing their dog inside for some sort of check up. It wasn't until I brought my dog inside, that I could see the panic on the receptionist face. Immediately I was told to put my dog on the scale, and he was immediately rushed into the back. After hours and hours of waiting, we were awarded with a bill of thousands of dollars, explaining that they were going to keep him overnight and keep him sedated, in hopes to keep the seizures down and save my baby. My grandfather and I arrived the next morning at 5:30 AM, the second we were told to come pick him up. It took over 20 minutes to get ahold of anyone to even come to the locked front door. We picked my dog up and placed him in the black of our vehicle. He was medicated and did not move one bit. With blood shot eyes and no emotion. It was apparent that he hadn't slept at all. Not that this was the urgent cares fault, but just heart breaking to see. Of course, we were met with another bill. I can't remember how much this next bill was, but I'm sure it was thousands more, once again. We were given a false hope and narrative that maybe just maybe our baby would be okay. Oh but thanks for paperwork of his bloodwork I guess? We took my dog home and for the next couple hours, all I could do was sit there, watching him stare emotionlessly at the walls. Unable to lay down or even close his eyes. We had to wait until 9:30 AM for our local vet to open the next morning. We were there an hour early, and walked in the second the vet arrived (late of course). We walked inside and immediately some blood work was done on my dog. Immediately we were met with the harsh reality that our dog was going to have to be put down. Why couldn't we receive this same information from this place? Why couldn't they do what needed to be done thousands of dollars and hours or suffering ago? Because they don't care. They don't have your animal, baby, your whole world's best interest. They want to squeeze every dollar they can out of you. I know this from experience because they did the same thing with our cat years before this experience. Next time I will put a gun to my own dogs head before I have to make them suffer the way this business did. I will never forgive them for what they did to my family and worse, my baby.

They did not put this girl in oxygen for 8 hours.  She almost died under their care.  I then took her to MedVet SLC, and they saved her.

This is not an ER. If the life of your pet is in the balance, DON'T GO HERE. Go to an ER! Currently, the only animal ERs are in SLC, sadly. Pet Urgent Care Orem staff treatment of my suffering cat was considered medically NEGLIGENT. They seem to deeply care for animals, but they do not seem to be strong in the actual "Medical care" of an animal. *** Here is my complaint about Pet Urgent Care. *** They DID NOT put her in an Oxygen tank. They DID NOT tell me to take her immediately to an ER, nor tell me that there even WAS one. They DID NOT tell me they were 'Urgent Care' and not qualified to treat her. They DID charge me for their non-service and sent me home. My cat was breathing fast and shallow. She was currently being treated for FIP (through FIP Warriors Program) and had been on medicines for 2 days. On the 3rd day, she suddenly developed an over-fast breathing and was gasping for air. It was the middle of the night, so I raced her to Pet Urgent Care Orem because it was the only facility in Utah County still open at midnight. They took my fur-baby and wouldn't let me come with, which further stressed her out. They kept her 20-30 mins before they returned my cat and consulted me. They told me what I already knew... she has FIP (I had already told them that), and said she should be euthanzied right away. The doctor scolded me for associating with FIP Warriors and said I was putting my girl through unnecessary pain and torture. I assured them that she HAD been responding well to the treatment for the past 2 days, and only developed this breathing issue a half-hour ago right after I had given her a SubQ IV to rehydrate her. The doctor informed me her skin had turned yellow, which means her liver is dying. She was dying. Then they said there was "nothing they could do for her more", and sent me home with the recommendation to feed her a homemade RAW diet. I went home and did not sleep while I watched and tried to comfort a cat that struggled to breathe all night long. Then I took her to Country View Vet Hospital right when they opened at 8:00 AM. Country View Veterinary Hospital IMMEDIATELY put her in an OXYGEN TANK and transferred her straight to the SLC Veterinary ER (MedVet) for ER Critical Care services. The ER said her lungs were full of liquid (not from the IV-drip, but just from the FIP infection) and so they quickly drained her lungs. They put her on steroids to reduce the inflammation from the infection, and gave her pain meds to alleviate her suffering while she healed. They also gave her a feeding tube and an IV-drip for hydration and to keep her organs from failing; and allowed ME to keep up her FIP Warrior treatments. She bounced back! She felt much better the next day and was released after day 2. It has now been 8 days, and the FIP Medication is absolutely working. She's now so alive and playing with her feathers, and giving joyful love to all she meets. She will survive FIP. Pet Urgent Care Orem staff treatment of my suffering cat was terribly medically NEGLIGENT. They seem to deeply care for animals, but they do not seem to be strong in the actual "Medical care" of an animal.

NEVER GO TO MEDVET SALT LAKE they wanted to amputate my whole dog's leg for an accident that she had on her littles toes but when I came here they said that she just needed to amputate two. They really saved me and my dog

Rocking a belly scar and some fur boots (from the IV), but feeling much better!

My cat chews on anything shiny/crinkly/etc. (much like other cats). I brought her in because she seemed off one evening and I thought she may have eaten something she couldn't pass while I wasn't paying attention. Dr. Carlos did an X-ray after an initial exam and, sure enough, she had eaten some copper foil tape I had left out a day or two prior. It was blocking her stomach and intestines so Dr. Carlos and his lovely assistants, all of whom were very friendly and helpful, took her into surgery right away. I was very nervous reading all of the horrible reviews on here while she was in surgery! I was so full of dread I had brought her somewhere that seemed great but was potentially awful. This absolutely turned out to be false. All of the staff were very kind, informative, and attentive, and (now a week since our visit) my kitty companion of 11 years has healed up wonderfully and is helping me pack up the Christmas tree seeming very much herself. Of course I saw all the signs about payment options and we had to wait a bit to be seen when we first showed up. Yes the medication we were given when we left can be purchased for much less online, and yes the initial exam itself was more expensive than at our usual vet-- but this is an urgent care, not your regular vet. You are paying for the services as well as the convenience of being able to be seen at all hours of the night on demand, and since pretty much everyone is a walk-in, it may take some time to be seen. If you take your animal to an urgent care vet and find yourself griping about how your regular vet is cheaper or you could have purchased the medication online for less, maybe the vet trip wasn't so urgent after all. The doctor gave me pricing (for my approval) before the X-ray and again before the surgery, and my bill at the end of the night was more than fair (even as a college student working full time to put my husband and I through school, haha). I'm very grateful to the good people here who were of tremendous help- you can tell they care and, all things considered, are doing the very best they can in what must at times be a very stressful job.

I'm on the fence about this place because of a few different reasons…read more My pet got a foxtail stuck in her ear for the second time within a week period. The first time it happened we did an emergency visit to Blue Pearl up North where we had the most awful experience. This appointment with A Caring Vet was scheduled for a next day appointment to where it wasn't considered emergent, it was just like any other appointment. Before I go on let me add that the facilities were well decorated so they didn't feel like some sort of insane asylum or prison like we had felt at Blue Pearl. Although, they did feel very unsanitary. Like the floors hadn't been mopped in quite some time and could use a good deep clean. And the staff was super nice! The appointment came out to $267 after sedation and the removal of the foxtail. Since it wasn't an emergency visit I figured it wouldn't be outrageously expensive compared to our first visit to Blue Pearl, but there was only about a $50 difference. They also said "We get pets in here all the time with the same problem." And I'm wondering to myself, why in the heck the appointment was this appointment so expensive if you they get these kinds of visits so frequently? Lastly, I wasn't a big fan of how they did the sedation on my pet. They kept here there in a kennel until it was her turn for her surgery it was 11am and they said she should be done anywhere in between 2pm-6pm. I asked if it were possible for me to take her and then if they gave me a 10 minutes heads up I could get her back to the facility for her surgery. They said "With the way surgeries are set up she could possibly not be seen today if the surgical team needs to wait for her to get here." I was not a huge fan of being parted with my pet for hours while she was sitting in a kennel when she could have been comfortable at home. If they could implement some other kind of system that would definitely change my 3/5 stars. Pet owners are already paying the facility enough the least they could do is schedule surgeries rather than keep them away from home all day.

Left this same review on Google, but thought I should share it here too for the Yelp users…read more We had our pet bunny spayed here and were send home with some pain medication and a cone for her to wear that would prevent picking at the incision. We were told that if she was not eating normally by the morning, to bring her back in. That was the case so we returned the next morning. They gave us some critical care to force feed her and directed us to feed her 7 ml a day. Come the next morning her conditions were worsening. It was Sunday, so A Caring Vet was closed. We were forced to find an emergency vet elsewhere. After the emergency vet evaluated our bunny's current condition, we were informed that A Caring Vet had not prescribed her strong enough pain medication to ease our bunny's pain and our bunny needed to be feed closers to 80 ml of critical care a day to receive all the nutrients she needs. We were also informed that a cone should almost never be used on a bunny as it will cause stress levels to rise doing more harm than good. We were told that a bunny with the correct pain medication dosage will usually not pick at the incision. If you have a bunny, I strongly recommend you take him/her elsewhere, While A Caring Vet will attend to bunnies, they do not seem knowledgeable in the proper post operative care that a bunny requires.
