We walked through the entire store. I saw about seven employees. We actually had to detour down a different aisle because one employee was restocking and took up the entire floor. I made eye contact a few of the employees. Not one said anything to us. No one acknowledged us. No one asked if we needed help. Not going back. read more

They apparently cannot keep enough staff to be able to work during a sporting event that's not even in this town. Football isn't a holiday. I went to pet supplies to try and find a harness for my grand dog. She's kind of an odd fit and small and if I got it to fit one way it didn't fit the other when I came in they put a nice big towel in the seat in the Cart for her to sit in and then I went back to start trying on the harnesses one of the associates came back there and sat with me and we basically tried every brand on her and eventually we found just the right fit for her. If you join their loyalty program, there are a lot of straightforward $x off $xx coupons, and sometimes $xx off $xx. I've only been a couple times so far, but their prices are comparable to Petsmart - And so far cheaper for me, as my brands have been on sale. Then you add in the coupons, and they win price-wise. They also regularly have a few random flavors on clearance, (and expiration dates on the ones I've bought so far are way off in the future). The place is clean, and the staff has been pretty cheerful. I buy a lot of canned food, and I've noticed way fewer dented cans and mangled labels here than at various Petsmarts. They even cut the front side of the little cardboard boxes off to make it easier to pull the cans off the shelf. And the shelves are easy to navigate - For instance you can see all their cat food offerings by just going down two aisles. Plus it's a small thing, but their plastic bags seem quite sturdy (if you fail to bring your own). And it's right next to a HyVee if you need to pick up any items for yourself. It took me a while to try this place - For some reason I was like "Why try a smaller place, out of the way?" But it turns out they're not really out of my way, and they have everything I normally buy, in a more trustworthy condition, for a lower price. Also, since it's a smaller place, the checkout process has been a little more laid back. I'm happy to use them as my main supplier going forward. read more

Love their self serve wash setup- the dogs sit on a large wash basin, the is nice and high so you don't have to bend over to wash them. Soaps and conditioners are supplied along w towels, and there is also a hand held dryer. Excellent find for washing a dirty dog! I had to find a place quickly on a Wednesday, and as of this writing, U Wash Puppy is closed Tuesdays & Wednesdays. I'll be going back to Pet Supplies Plus for sure, especially since you can get FIVE self-service dog washes for only $25! $10 if you want to buy just 1 wash is still a good deal. (As of this writing, Petco is $12/wash, and U Wash Puppy is $15 (but you do get a free wash after a while, making it $11/wash). At $5 a wash, it's SO worth it to not have to bend over the tub at home while trying to contain my enormous dog who hates water unless it's in her water bowl or if it's muddy. Not having to clean water from every surface in my bathroom afterward is great. Like other dog wash places, you can tether your dog to the wall, which makes a world of difference. I loved the oatmeal shampoo, which wasn't diluted nearly as much as any other self-service dog wash business I've tried. The aprons aren't the disposable kind...they're heavy duty. The employees were friendly and helpful. After running around for an hour chasing our very fast dog who'd hopped the fence and gotten dirty, coming here was an especially positive experience :) I didn't have time to shop food and supplies that day, but will look at those another time. read more

BE AWARE I would like to warn other people not to shop at Pet Supplies Plus. I went in today to buy a treat for my puppy and a customer was wondering about a treat in an open basket...the employee told the customer that they needed to move it because it has salmonella. It's very terrible in thinking that this company was selling products with salmonella to our fur babies. I walked to the register to buy a product for tear stain removal and from the last experience I had they matched prices, but the guy at the register didn't have an employee ID or T shirt and he started arguing with me over .25 cents even though I showed him a receipt and they were supposed to price match it. He was very unprofessional, he was plying with his phone and when I asked to speak to a supervisor he claimed to be the owner when I told him that they used to price match before he said I need to talk to the employees about the procedures not to do that anymore. I had a terrible experience he's a joke that this guy is actually running a business. I will file a complaint with the BBB for misleading. To be honest the only reason I was shopping there before is because they were price matching for me and they are near my house..their prices are very high compared to other pet stores.
