We have a foster dog that is much larger than our 6lb Pom, so we didn't feel we had the right equipment to give her a bath. After a day at the park in the mud, we found this place before taking her back home. We were able to walk right in and start bathing her. Staff gathered some information from us and then walked us through the whole process. They were there if we needed help any step of the way. This is a review for the store/products, we have not used the services here. Milo, our 4 lb Maltipoo is a very picky eater, and let's face it I'm a discriminating mom. If I trusted myself to make certain Milo would get all the required nutrients in homemade food I would do that but I fear with the tiny amounts he eats that might not be possible. This is where the high quality products are located that help me feel I'm feeding a nutrient dense diet, Farmina, Small Batch, Rawble etc. They have a large variety of toys, clothing, leads and healthy treats as well. I've been taking my border collie to get groomed for some time now. My dog is a very smart and sweet dog but a very anxious dog to say the least, who dislikes her paws getting touched. Hanna has always been so friendly and sweet and patient with my Bella. This past week we were supposed to go in on a Wednesday but it was storming. She knew my dog's anxiety about the storm and called me Wednesday morning to reschedule it for Sunday. Then Sunday was also bad weather but we gave it a go! She said Bella did ok but I know she can be a handful! She has someone sit next to her and wait for me to arrive. I was very excited to take my dog here to get groomed as I had heard great things. I wasn't able to drop my pup off but I got to talk on the phone with the groomer to specify what I wanted. After about 6 hours of waiting I finally got a call saying that my dog was stressed from the blowdrier so it's taken longer because they were air drying her (which I've never had a groomer tell me about her before? And couldn't you have told me that 5 hours ago?) I still had to wait another hourish+ for her to be done. When I finally got her back, her ears were trimmed uneven, or maybe one wasn't trimmed at all? I'm not sure? But overall after the long day of waiting to get an uneven hair cut I wasn't impressed. I want to believe they are excellent groomers based on everyone else's reviews but this is the worst groom/experience I've had since I got her! read more

After visiting the nearby dog park my big ol' doggy was a mess. I searched for self-service dog washes and this was the nearest. Boy did my dog get lucky today! It happened to be their once a year customer appreciation event! They were giving out swag bags and had vendors with all kinds of treats. The self service area is amazing. I have a mastiff mix that is heavy and also can't jump. They have ramps going into the tubs and up to the drying area. At first he was skeptical of the ramp so one of the guys picked him up for me and set him in the tub. Then they explained to me all features of the cleansing area. They have several kinds of soap, conditioner, ear cleaner, and face soap. After cleaning him off we used the blow dryers and provided combs. All for under $25. I was excited to hear we come back the third Wednesday of the month to use this service half off!! We absolutely are coming back. My dog wasn't thrilled with *my* skills in their bathing room, but 2 of the staff were very helpful & supportive .... teaching me how to bathe & blow-dry my dog safely with their facilities, since I'm limited by some physical & balance disabilities. I love Four Paws Pantry & Spa! I've got 2 English Springer Spaniels, and I have been buying their dog food here for 12 years. I've NEVER had a bad experience! The staff are super friendly, and answer questions, if I have any. I especially LOVE the owner and her dog! She goes above and beyond to educate you about the food, etc. I have not tried the grooming services, because it is so booked up! I've been wanting to try them out, so I guess I will have to call way in advance for that! I've also been buying my son's cat food from here for years! She is the pickiest eater, but I found a wet food that she will actually eat. I always buy as much as they have on hand, to keep my son stocked up. I recently moved to Olathe a few months ago and my puppers needed a grooming place. I saw this had good reviews and it was near home. I waited till after a few groomings before leaving feedback. All which had different results but fantastic endings. The staff was friendly and welcoming, they took care of Charlie well and made sure he felt comfortable during his bathing. They informed me how he did and how they resorted to other techniques when Charlie was uncomfortable. The pricing was great and especially accommodating on nail trims / dremel if he didn't need a full cut to be charged full price. I did not think I'd receive great service. I only left 4 stars as I have not tried their in store products but I am tempted to buy some bakery goods for special occasions. read more

I hosted a benefit at Four Paws Pantry and Spa on Saturday, February 11th. Every single employee at Four Paws was beyond gracious and hospitable. They went above and beyond to help me host a very successful Barkhappy event. Not only were they an impressive venue because of their size, but they also provided goodie bags with homemade treats and coupons, the tables for my vendors, nail trims for the dogs, and the supplies for some party games. I packed their store with 44 human guests, over 50 dogs, and the extra people that came with the multiple vendors.... that's a lot! The Four Paws employees kept a smile on their face the entire time. Came here for an event for the start up app, Bark Happy. Part of the proceeds went to KC Pet Project which is great! The store is one of the largest pet stores I've ever been in! It's in a great location too! My pup had his nails trimmed as part of the event by one of their long time pet groomers and he was fantastic! I'm sad I can't remember his name though! Their selection of food, treats, bones, you name it was huge! I'd say it was definitely a PetsMart for dogs/cats only meets Three Dog Bakery on the Plaza. I loved this place, I could bring my huskies in and pre-blow them then bathe and dry them. I always got there first thing when they open in hopes of them not being busy yet. I walked in before bringing my dogs in to make sure I was fine and they weren't busy yet, I told the person checking me in I had 2 huskies I planned to keep one in a dryer station when I bathed the other and I would like to pre-blow them. They said that was fine and multiple other employees were standing near hearing our conversation. I got my dogs settled and started to blow them out then had my dryer shut off by a male employee telling me I can't do that, the owner does not allow it. Although I know for a fact the last time I did this the owner was there and everyone was loving on my dogs through the entire process of me grooming them and no one seemed to mind my process. This is the main reason I drive my dogs 30 minutes to use this facility. I get it if that is actually the rule or if it's a new rule since the last time I took my dogs there a few months ago but the fact that I was told it was fine up until I started then had my dryers shut off and told to stop within 5 minutes of being told it was fine. read more

Everyone here is so wonderful! They do the best grooming for pups - from my 10 pound mini doxie (who has unique nails) to my other various size mutts! Very knowledgeable on dog food proteins and their impact on the dogs health and behavior so they can make an informed professional recommendation, and they have an awesome selection of pup goodies! I can't say enough good things about them! They are the ones I trust most when it comes to the nails though! I have been to other places that have clipped too far and made the pups bleed. Now I live on the other side of town and it's worth the drive to have it done RIGHT and not make the grooming experience terrifying for the pups. We love bringing my dogs here! The staff is super friendly, gentle with dogs and so caring about your pets. They always have great recommendations and my dogs are never disappointed in what we get. We love using their spa services as well to get our dogs nice and clean and their nails trimmed as well. They have options to bathe your dog yourself, or for their wonderful staff to do it. They also have dog spa treatments such as specialty baths to get ticks off and to help deshed your pet. We love having this place here! read more

I had an amazing experience bathing my 70 lb dog here in the do it yourself dog bath area. Tony was friendly, helpful and informative- explaining where extra tools were and helped me get my dog hooked up on the drying side of the room. They had stairs so my dog could climb into the tub. The washing tub was stainless steel and was clean. It was the perfect height, not too wide- I could reach around my dog easily. On bottom of the tub was a rubber like mat so dog's paws didn't slip on stainless steel. Heavy duty waterproof apron was available for use and worked well. I brought my own shampoo so no comments on their shampoo. Water temperature is warm only- no cold or cooler option. I am bathing my dog frequently due to allergies and the shampoo from the vet says cool water, but the water was a fine temperature. Just for my special situation adding a little cool water would have been fine. I did not take off for this on my rating because for everyone else the water temperature is perfect! It is warm - not hot --no where near hot or uncomfortable at all. It was perfect! Whole room was clean. Except for the tub I just bathed my dog in. Dryers were heavy duty with a high and low option which was nice. Brushes and other amenities were available to finish off my boy! Ear cleaner, a finishing spray, hand held dryers in case the big ones scared your dogs. I will be back! read more

The self-serve dog wash business I normally use closes rather early on Sundays and I haven't been particularly happy anyway with that business - it was dirty and stunk every time I went in there. I googled self-serve dog wash and luckily Four Paws came up! I called and was greeted so cheerfully I was actually looking forward to taking my dog in LOL! I was greeted right away and taken to a dog washing station. The tubs are large, stainless steel and the perfect height. You can choose from a variety of soaps and finish with a conditioner if you like. The water pressure is really good. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is the water is cool and the blow dryers blow cold air. This place is very clean though and no smell at all. Employees were cleaning, sweeping, and vacuuming up the never-ending hair constantly:) The customer service here is EXCELLENT! There were lots of employees to help everyone whether they were here for dog washing or shopping and they were ALL SO NICE! read more

Unfortunately after years of coming to Four Paws I've decided to go elsewhere for my cats/dogs needs, strictly due to the way I was treated (multiple times) by the cashier. There really is no excuse for a customer to be spoken to, and treated the way I have been for several weeks now (mind you I'm in here about once a week, or every other week). The products and services that are offered here are excellent, but being treated down right rudely for no apparent reason is something I cannot look past! The owner, and her team are extremely knowledgeable and caring about the products they carry and how they might help your pet. My dog has IBD (yes, animals can have it too) and before 4 Paws help and products she was sick for months. They try to help, they don't just recommend the most expensive thing. I really can't say enough about my experiences there and how it's helped us. Austin, in the grooming area, has really helped my dog with her fear of nail trimming. She had a bad experience at the vet so we started going to see Austin (no appt needed just for nails). She responds to him differently and no longer fears the experience. They do have a section for kitty stuff in the back which I have also used. Some people forget to mention it's there. Point is, regardless of your needs, you won't regret going. The staff here is great! My pup is terrified of getting his nails trimmed. I originally tried getting them trimmed somewhere else but that was a disaster. The first time I brought Theo here he was a hot mess. He peed and pooped and cried, and refused to let anyone trim his nails. Austin was very patient with him every time we come in and this past time Theo was actually able to get his nails trimmed without any crying!! I'm so thankful for how wonderful Austin has been with Theo because I know how difficult he can be. I love how Four Paws has mock nail trims, where you can bring your dog in and the groomers take them back and just hang out with them and give them treats so the dogs get comfortable with the environment. It was my first time taking my dog to a self service wash - it was pretty great because everything (soap, dryer, and comb) is provided. Although, the dryer is a bit cold, I still think it was worth the price. I wouldn't recommended getting your dog's nails trimmed here. The price is reasonable but the person that trimmed my dogs nails did a horrible job... (didn't get her name) Customer service wasn't all that great. They were slightly rude but the store overall is clean. I only recommend the self service bath! read more

Not a great first impression. I came to do the self serve bath for their Wet Nose Wednesday deal. When we got in there were some others waiting to bathe their dogs as well. While waiting I browsed around the store. On the back side of the store there was a large pile of dog poop on the floor. Not a huge deal, but no one did anything about it. And it sat there for a while. For the location of store and the clientele it serves, I expected better. Kind of a turn off. I'll probably try it again, but I won't be rushing back. read more

We will go NOWHERE else! The staff at Four Paws has taken such amazing care of our hound mix, Lincoln. He has suffered and recovered from a severely broken leg and a couple surgeries to repair, making his already sensitive leg and paws even more so. We always receive excellent service when we visit, but today we received OUTSTANDING service, from Austin who trimmed Lincoln's nails and from Lynn, who checked out our purchase and took my phone call. In the past, Lincoln has always attempted to bolt back to the car when we arrive to get nail trims, hopefully that will begin to change, thanks to Four Paws. Thank you! Thank you! I've been here quite a few times for baths. Not bad. Not a fan of the shampoo that's in the hose thingy. I don't feel like it gets them really clean. But the staff has always been nice & helpful. Anyway, I've spent quite a few $$ there & decided to have them groom my dogs there. I get it that she's old & has eye gunk. BUT when I took my 11 yr old mini schnauzer for grooming there the groomer looked at her & said she's all matted up & would have to be totally shaved, schnauzer beard & all. I said that those mats could be brushed out & if not, just leave them in, because I would prefer not to have her face totally shaved. She was adamant that my dog would have to be shaved and that those mats could not be brushed out. I said to give me a brush and I'd do it myself. That was when I was told that I'd have to go home and brush out my dog myself & if I left her there she would shave her face the same length as her back (10 blade, which is super short). I said if I left I would never be returning. Well, she looked at me like "go ahead and leave"... By then I was so upset, so I left! I will NEVER be back & won't recommend this place to my friends. Well, guess what! When I got home I brushed out the matts the groomer said would have to be shaved & will be taking both my dogs to a place that will listen to my wishes & not treat me like an idiot. read more

I love the location, store, and my groomer, but whoever answers the phone and the front cashier needs a lesson or two on proper etiquette; not nice--not once but multiple times. I work in the field of service and it doesn't even enter my mind to be that rude. Please, please work on your manners. I plan to find another place that wants $1500.00++ yearly grooming services, dog toys/treats, dog food, etc. As the saying goes-- "When there's one bad apple, it can ruin the whole bunch." I hope this gives others an idea of the atmosphere at Four Paws, not nice!-not cool, not acceptable, in my book. I'm sorry Four Paws on missing out on one sweet dog and future revenue.
