Dropped by to pick up some mild, senior dog food for my ailing pup. My first impression of the store was that it was clean; the shelves were orderly and fully stocked plus there wasn't that usual malodorous scent of stale, pet shoppe smell. The clerk, Roy B (according to the receipt) was super nice, helpful and knowledgeable; I told him my elderly dog was having a bit of acid reflux due to bring fed too much people food and if he could recommend dog food that would be mild and help settle my dog's stomach. He pointed me to a couple of cans of senior pet food which were also incidentally on sale. He was a gregarious shop keeper and talked about the store's different products and services they provided. On Tuesday (12/2/25) I visited the Pet Station in North Reno. We are traveling and I needed to give our Westie a bath. The staff was very kind and helpful, but told us they were having problems with low water pressure and no hot water. They recommended we go to one of the other Pet Stations in Reno. We decided to do so, and ended up in the West Reno store. Again the staff was nice, but explained they were also having problems with low water pressure, however, they did have hot water. We decided to give it a go. Shortly after starting the bath the water went cold. I called the girls over and explained my problem. They informed me they couldn't help me because they had no control over the water temperature. Meanwhile my dog is shivering uncontrollably. I decided to rinse our dog and call it quits. Meanwhile, an older employee began setting up the station beside us for another customer. She coldly (pun intended) that she had hot water. We left feeling underserved, cheated, and miffed. No apologies, no discounted price. Nothing. At least the first store cared enough to detail the problem. AND, what are the chances of two stores (miles apart) having no hot water? We have reported the problem to their headquarters. Whether they respond or not will determine whether we ever visit one of their locations again. read more

There are two pet wash stations in the back. COVID has prevented them to open both but when we were there, the second was opened since there were three people waiting. She refused to let me walk down the isle to look and brought me a powder to sprinkle on the food. What part of my cat isn't eating didn't she understand? I have finally calmed down enough to write this review after my visit last week. My husband comes to this store to get the raw food for our dog, but it was only my second visit, and I was alone with my dog in tow. I had a very specific items to shop for, and I didn't walk around the store. I brought two dog life vests and a collapsible water bowl to the register. The women behind the counter didn't even acknowledge me at first, working with the other customer. Then when it's my turn, her attitude becomes very sour for no reasons that I can think of. My well-behaved and on-leash dog and I didn't cause any issues while we were there; we were quiet, and we were quick. When I was prompted for the card reader, the credit card didn't get pushed into the slot because my hand was pulled by the dog leash while I was juggling three things in my hands. Because the card stayed in without being properly pushed in, the transaction halted, and she had to "start all over again because of the issue with the computer." She is now full-grumpy mode, sighing disgustedly multiple times, and says "you coulda used the scan reader." Oh so sorry to cause you trouble to rescan three items, when no other customers are in the store. Also your computer issue is not my fault. You were standing there with an arms reach. You could have pushed it in while my hands were occupied. NO? I can't tell you how unpleasant the whole experience was. Of course, no greetings or "thank you" were given for more than $170 purchase. So, my question is this; my husband (white male) says he never had a problem with the store. The customer before me (white male) was treated courteously. Was I treated poorly because I am an Asian woman? I have asked my husband to shop elsewhere. read more

Came by the store to see what their shampoo options were and found they have multiple DIY pet washing Stations in the back and decided to go that route instead! The staff was friendly and answered all of my questions and I quickly ran home to get my dog and come back to try it out. There were multiple stations, complete with a variety of shampoos, a face wash wash, and conditioner! There were aprons, towels, hair brushes and treats provided as well. The area was kept clean and the stations were super easy to operate! A single wash cost $15, which is totally worth it in my opinion, especially since you don't have to really deal with any crazy clean up and get access to great product! This was our first visit to a Pet Station. Three stars is all I felt it deserved today for the following reasons--- There was no one at the front desk when we walked in. There were a couple of the employees goofing around in the back of the store and didn't notice that there were customers waiting until the employee helping us told them. The dog washing station we went to had black dog hair clogging the drain and obviously wasn't ready for the next customer. We only want our best for our fur babies and I believe Pet Station wants what's best for them, too! Pet Station is located in the Trader Joe's shopping center. In fact we visited Pet Station right after doing some grocery shopping at Trader Joe's. Like any pet store, they have a great selection of various pet toys, foods, accessories, treats, etc. etc. What made Pet Station stand out from Pet Smart and Petco was their outstanding customer service. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted. A staff member at the cashier's desk asked if we needed help with anything and we said we were just looking. I didn't think anything of it and thought was pretty standard. When we headed towards the back of the store, there was fish to our left and a glass enclosure that held two dwarf rabbits, one with short perky ears and the other with long droopy ears. Both were incredibly cute but the rabbit with the short perky ears seemed to follow me when I walked around the enclosure. Another staff member greeted us and took out one of the rabbits and let us pet it! Soft, fuzzy, and cute. We thanked her and continued on our way to the middle isle. Returning to the front of the store we found some Chuck-It balls and Rudi, the house pup, needed more of those. Perfect! While we were looking at the plethora of dog treats, another staff member (looked like she was the store manager, but I'm not completely sure..) gave her recommendations of what her puppies like to snack on. When we mentioned Rudi was a German Shepherd, she was overjoyed because one of her puppies is a German Shepherd, too! She was so excited she showed us a picture to which we reciprocated showing a picture back to her of what Rudi looked like. Essentially the staff here at Pet Station are friendly and very personable. To me, it's the small things that I noticed, and that's what stood out! From start to finished, We felt welcomed and were well informed. Definitely coming back! read more

I love pet Station here in Tahoe, but they don't have a lot of options in such small stores. They had a lot of options of chew sticks and the staff was helpful and friendly! Its 6:15 on a brisk Saturday evening, just wrapped up with family fun time. The sudden need to bathe our dog on the way home comes up...mud. I'm yelping 'self service dog wash" to find the closest one enroute. I notice Pet Station closes at 7 and we are 10 minutes away. I gave them a ring to make sure we weren't raining on their parade by arriving for a dog wash 30 min before closing time. They very nicely said it was not a problem. Whew! We still felt terrible bringing a 80lb muddy dog in just before closing. The guys were beyond friendly, very helpful, made sure we had plenty of towels and understood how everything worked. They even helped get our less-than-cooperative pooch in the sink station. We were in and out within 15 minutes. And still felt terrible that our wet dog mess is in their store, but then remind myself that this is why we went there and not using our own bath. They offer a 5-wash card for a discounted per-wash rate. I was very appreciative of them letting us know. Their prices on other items are pretty comparable to other chain stores. I took my goldendoodle to get a quick bath at Pet Station. The price was extremely fair since we used a Groupon coupon. There are two (2) bathtubs with easy access for your dog, all the amenities (i.e., shampoo, conditioner, brushes, and other dog washing tools). They provide towels, but I recommend you bring your own since it had an odor that wasn't favorable. I have been going to Pet Station by Trader Joe's on North McCarran for awhile now. The selections are smaller than your bigger stores, but they do carry lots of premium products you don't normally see in the big stores. What really set this store apart from Petco and Petsmart is the customer service. You are immediately greeted by the friendly staff when you walked in. They are knowledgeable about their products and will take the time to answer your questions. For example, I was looking for CBD Oil for my senior cat and they were able to direct me to purchase the right product for my cat to relief her symptoms. What surprised me is that their prices are comparable to the big stores. I like to go in and pick up different treats for my cat and my friends' cats and dogs to try. The staff recommended Stella and Chewy meal mixers a year ago, which reminds to be a favorite to this date. Overall, I recommend this store if you are looking for friendly service, knowledgeable staff and unique products. It feels good to support a local business. read more

I used to love coming to this location every week to buy primal raw beef marrow bones 6 count for my German Shepard and my American pitbul but eventually they started telling me I can't look through the bags to see which one I like the best because they organize them by expiration date, but as an employee it's your job to reorganize them. I came in today and the freezer is out of the customers reach, I asked for a bag and the one they gave me wasn't my preference I asked if they could give me another one and I was told they're all the same and they are not some are bigger, wider, and have more meat on it.
