Beyond heartbroken and disappointed with our experience with Dr. Morrison and Pet Home Euthanasia. Contacted Dr. Morrison for assessment of our pooch in failing health. First appointment arrived 2 hours late. Dr. Morrison spent approximately 20 minutes and did not bring any medical equipment to "assess" our dog. We already knew he was end of life and we were not made aware of outrageous price for assessment and were charged $350. Thought that would at minimum cover a portion of euthanasia as spoke of in coming days. We were told in follow up conversation that we could have had a phone/Zoom consultation for $39. We would have chosen otherwise. Website information is very vague and "affordable compassionate care" is the opposite of what we experienced with Dr. Morrison. We were sadly disappointed in our experience and would not wish this upon anyone already grieving the loss of an animal. Fast forward, we scheduled euthanasia on a Sunday so whole family could be with our precious dog. Dr. Morrison did not disclose additional fees and as an afterthought, we texted Dr. Morrison to confirm time and clarify what to anticipate regarding fees. Dr. Morrison called back and we were shocked and disappointed that it would be an additional $650. Appointment was set at 10:00 AM and reached out to Dr. Morrison at 9:15 AM. It went downhill from there. Dr. Morrison did not realize it was that time and was out walking her dogs. Would not likely have not shown up when expected were we not to have reached out confirming appointment time. Conversation with Dr. Morrison was so cold and lacking compassion. We were basically told if we did not like her pricing, we could take our dog to the vet hospital and pay less. My daughter could not get a word in and was in tears on the phone with Dr. Morrison. There is so much more in this conversation and no longer worth the sadness and energy already expended. This was not about money. It was about a kind and caring end of life for a furry family member. I used this place 5 years ago when I had to put down my dog. I am now again searching places for my parents who have to put down their dog and remembered this woman as I came across her Yelp reviews. I agree with the other 1 star reviews on here. She preys on the vulnerable who are grieving for their sick pet and charges you DOUBLE than what you anticipate. Her website does not show prices for after-hours/weekends/same day, travel and the "examination fee" which she will charge you in addition to what is quoted on her website so be prepared. I called Dr. Michelle when my chronic kidney diseased cat, Lucy, was very reclusive, oversleeping, and suffering at the end of her disease. Michelle picked up the phone and came a couple of hours later, as soon as she could, due to traffic on the 101, southbound. I honestly didn't think Lucy would make it to my vet, who was completely booked for that and the next day. I panicked and I couldn't let Lucy suffer. Michelle arrived and checked Lucy over. She said she was mobile, alert, skinny, but had an irregular, pounding heartbeat. I can't remember the term she used. Compassion ??? Are you serious ??? I called Dr. Morrison for an emergency with my dog who might need to be put down and was received by an extremely high strung woman, talking a mile a minute, who was practically yelling at me while driving. She did nothing to help calm my wife and I as our dog was on the verge of death and we were severely distraught. She obviously didn't want to make the trip to help us (unless of course we were willing to pay nearly $1500) and then spoke to me as if I was an idiot thuroughly explaining how a blanket was square - (Really?? As if I didn't know a blanket had four corners) and how to wrap our dog (so my wife and I could sling our dog and get her to the car to be taken somewhere- Where ??? Who is open at 9:35 pm on a Monday??? And wasn't the point to let our dog die comfortably in her own home ??) BUT THIS WAS THE KICKER... She contradicted the diagnosis of two different vets, and told us how horribly painful our dog was "to die screaming" when we were panicked already. Next she told me that no one else would come out ( insinuating that it was her high price or nothing). For the record, someone did come out, was very helpful with getting us through a rough decision and when we told her this story knew immediately without us even telling her this vets name, exactly who we had spoken to. They assured me that my dog would not have died screaming in agony and this was a typical fear tactic used by this vet to get distraught people to pay twice what everyone else charges in cases of emergency. So to continue with how horrible this doctor made our phone call, she then told us that if our dog (a larger breed) died during the night, how to wrap her body and gave us a phone number for someone to pick her up in the morning after leaving a dead dog in the house overnight. So much for a caring, understanding vet who wants to comfort pets and owners in their time of need. Her demeanor was completely uncaring, rushed, she was obviously inconvenienced, high stressed and there was no gentle touch like her website suggested. She was actually borderline cruel during our conversation and didn't seem to care one bit that anyone (dog, wife or myself) were in pain and were desperately seeking help. My wife and I will never be able to forget how she made one of our worst days even more devastating !! No wonder she has a horrible reputation within the veterinary community. I hate that we needed this service but we didn't want our 15 year old Yorkie's last memory to be one of shaking in fear in a vet's office. Today I had to say goodbye to my sweet Roxy after rescuing her 12.5 years ago. Dr. Morrison made this painful experience so much easier and peaceful. From the time I called her Saturday night to the time she came to the house she was so wonderful. I chose an at home euthanasia because my sweet Roxy hated going to the vet and I wanted it to be peaceful for her. Dr. Morrison spent almost 2 hours with us and explained everything that was happening. She helped my other dogs to understand that Roxy was gone bringing them in to smell her one by one. She even wrapped her in blankets, feather boas and had her surrounded by stuffed animals before she took her for cremation. I waited a week before writing this review to see if after the situation I would think that maybe we all saw things differently after the fact. Unfortunately feelings have not changed over the situation. I have to say that making the decision to put an animal down is horrible, a decision I have made personally and in this case it was a friend of mine that I was helping out while she made this decision. unfortunately it was a weekend and there were very little options to choose from. If we thought he would have made it through the night we would have waited but he was looking pretty bad. In any case we were able to call Pet Home Euthanasia and she was available to come out. From the moment she walked into the house it was clear that she was not a good fit for us. Her up beat demeanor like she was just on a friendly visit to the random stuff that came out of her mouth that made no sense what so ever. Nothing about her was calming, sympathetic, empathetic, caring or compassionate. While my friend is holding her sick lethargic dog who has been un responsive for hours and crying hysterically knowing this was the last day. Dr. Morrison almost laughingly is asking her why she is crying?? Listens to her dogs heart and says Oh my he has a strong heart. What a strong dog he is. Again her voice loud and upbeat Who actually does that? My friend took months to make this decision and finally came to the realization that it needed to be done and now second guessing her decision and thinking she is giving up on him and feeling guilty because a random stranger that does not know this crazy dog says what a strong heart he has, oh he's just sleeping he's so tired. My self as well as our other friends wanted to tell her to get out of the house we were all fuming. My friend who's dog it was crying more saying she didn't like Dr.Morrison and now more upset. I talked to Dr. Morrison outside regarding the situation and her words and demeanor. It got 10% better but was still just horrible. Again if we thought we could get someone else we would have asked her to leave. Not sure if euthanasia specialists need to attend compassion classes but in this case I think she needs to attend some. All my friend needed was a little sympathy, a little I'm so sorry for your lose, this is a hard decision, he will be relieved of his pain and a little peace and quiet but unfortunately she did not receive that from Dr. Morrison except the part where she left the house for 30 minutes while we finished saying goodbye. I hate having to write bad reviews but in this case I though it necessary to warn those who need to have a euthanasia come to your house for a loved pet that this place may not be the best choice for you. She was so compassionate and mindful of what I was going through and made sure that my cat and I were as comfortable as possible. I have had two experiences with home euthanasia. My first was with Dr. Morrison. I had to make the decision for my twenty year old feline. It is with no doubt the hardest decision one has to make to let a loved one go. In my case it was time. Her age and the suffering she was obviously enduring out weighed the decision. Dr. Morrison had been working with her at home with chiropractic issues and was there for us when the time finally arrived. It was my first ever euthanasia experience. For such a dreadful time Mr. Morrison made it the most beautiful positive experience if you can even think such could be possible. She walked us through every moment, let us decide where the procedure would take place, gave us time to reminisce on the good times, gave us time to ourselves, and lovingly with great compassion for both our loved one and ourselves took our loved one to her cremation, inurnment and then brought back home to us. We felt such a sense of trust that our loved one would be respectfully taken care of by Dr. Morrison. That meant everything to us. You can put your faith and trust in Dr. Morrison that not only she is a professional practitioner that she also has a very sensitive demeanor. In having said that I would like to share a little about my second experience in order to expand and contrast. First let me explain we first called Dr. Morrison to ask for her help/assistance again unfortunately for us she had been called away and was not available. The second experience went like this the second they walk into my home they were very antiseptic. Had me sign paperwork and write the check first (which is understandable). Got right down to business, did not walk us through the procedure, they both sat and stared at their phones while we waited for him to go to sleep, they had no empathy and/or compassion and when business was done it was done. Their demeanor was strictly clinical. We did not have the same trust that our loved one was going to be treated respectfully after he left our care. When the time came to return our loved one after inurnment they made the statement that if we could not be at home they could leave him at the door if that is what we would want (REALLY). If this is the experience you want to have then you will not want Dr. Morrison. Dr. Morrison is the 360 degree opposite of the later experience. read more
