i just picked up my vehicle from Peruva after they fixed two dings in the front and tailgat. The quality of the repair is excellent. The owner, Mr. Luis Arcos, called me a few days after I dropped off my car and went over the repair options with me. This was- unfortunately - the third time I was using Peruva for auto body work. I don't know where to start. I brought in my car for new tires and they told me it would take 2 hours. I was with two of my kids under the age of 8. They took more than 6 hours!!!! They kept on telling me 2 more hours 2 more hours and didn't even call me to inform me. I had to go to up to them to ask what's taking them so long. read more

I can confidently review, after 5 months of use, that the repair done on my 1/2 ton truck was superb. I'm new to the area and when I got a flat tire, I texted a friend who is a local who's lived in the area for decades as to what automotive shop she recommended. Peruva, where she's been going for years. I called, set up a same-day appointment and Carlos dropped what he was doing and mended my tire. Price was reasonable, Carlos is an affable guy, tire is competently patched and I saved $$ by getting the tire patched rather than to purchase two new Michelin tires. I highly recommend Peruva, great customer service, competent techs and I even found a parking spot right outside! Carlos pulled out a thick, nail or screw (hint: don't park where there is construction going on-too many loose screws and nails) and patched it "from the outside which was interesting to see. What the heck Peruva!!! I bring my van in for a blown head gasket and basically get a like new car back. No more knocking (that's been going on for decades), my van runs so smoothly now I hardly recognize it. I have delivered parts to Peruva for work so when my usual shop referred me to them because they didn't have time to work on my car, I had no hesitation going there. Peruva was able to change the transmission filter, fluid, and pan on my Ford in about an hour and a half, which is excellent! The work was done perfectly and the price was very reasonable. I'm trying to do as much work as possibly myself but sometimes you can't do it in the parking lot of the local auto parts store so you gotta take it somewhere else. I had a great experience today! My car went into limp mode suddenly. I called the Fairfax location because it's within walking distance from my house but they were booked. I was in a terrible jam when these guys rescued me. A woman with a car problem is like a pigeon in a fox cage. Following an oil change, the engine light on my dash came on. The place where I had the oil change done, insisted it was on when I came in. I know otherwise. When I returned an hour later to let them know, they informed me that I would need a diagnostic to determine the problem at a cost of $150. I felt wronged! Drove down the street, got another quote of $95. Called the dealership, $165. All of this for what I suspected was nothing serious. The rip off inherent in this system is not to be believed. Triple A used to do diagnostics for $50, but they ceased doing so leaving consumers at the mercy of dealerships and dishonest mechanics. Fortunately, the internet became my best ally. I realized that it is common to have the engine light come on following an oil change. I also learned you can buy a diagnostic scanner at ebay or auto part stores for about $50. Autozone rents the scanner giving you the option of making your own assessment. There are ways to find fairness, but it requires time and resourcefulness. Frustrated beyond belief at the injustice of this system, I ended up calling the most phenomenal young woman - Genevieve, who works at Kagen's in San Rafael. She is tremendously knowledgeable and beyond helpful. I've been in their store and was enchanted by a young woman working in an auto parts store who knew as much about the merchandise as the men. She immediately came to my rescue, calling her mechanic, Luis at Peruva. I went over there, He did a diagnostic scan and assessed the problem in minutes -- the gas cap was loose. No one's hands should have been on that gas cap and I honestly suspect, it was deliberately tampered with. Luis did not charge me anything for this service. He was honest, ethical, and helpful; a rare find in car mechanics. This is a mechanic to trust. read more

I would like to thank the team at Peruva Auto repair shop. They do a great job of making sure the customers are taken care of and happy. I have a 94 Toyota pick up that they replaced The total exhaust System on it from exhaust manifold to end of the tail pipe. All the mechanics are friendly and there to help you always. My experience there was so pleasant I take my truck back there regularly for maintenance now. I was referred there from a friend and I do that for other friends. NO Longer can recommend. Went in for an oil change and tire rotation. Wrote the request myself on the services requested form. They tried to charge me an extra $90 for an inspection I didn't request, which they said they did. If they did, why didn't they notice the third tail light that is out or the poor condition of the front headlight covers? In addition, they didn't do the tire rotation correctly and I had to make them redo. Charged $60 for a tire rotation, at that price it would be less to replace tires then rotate every 5K miles. Peruva is great. Toscalito in Northgate diagonosed my brake light problem as requiring rear pads and disk, front roters and front 'cleaning' pads at about $690. Peruva's owner Louis told me on the phone that you don't 'clean' front pads you replace them and his charge $570. Toscalito started reducing the price and balked at their inspection time. I went to Peruva. Louis called me a half hour later to say I didn't need front roters or pad replacement. This was bogus on Toscalito's part. Peruva's charge for rear brake work $274 done in an hour. Louis replaced my hood and did a great job a few months ago for a great price. I asked Louis about the negative review from Cynthia about the cables destroyed (second review). Louis had a different version which I believe. Louis' version: Cynthia's divorced husband came in with a car in an accident needing cable replacement. Louis put in $300 worth of time and materials. Louis told the guy he needed a new computer in the engine as this was damaged. The guy became irate, refused this and only wanted to pay $100 for Louis' work. The guy challenged Louis to 'cut' the cables if he liked, because he wasn't going to pay for the work. Louis met the challenge. Later Cynthia called Louis to saying her ex husband was an 'a-hole'. Later she wrote the review. I would discount this review based on my experience and acquaintances of mine who have used Peruva. I will use Peruva for my needs and recommend them. Mark read more

I had never been to Peruva before this past Saturday when suddenly the mechanism in the driver side window in my jeep Cherokee broke, leaving the window in the open position. It was freezing cold and most mechanics, including my own, were closed. I Yelped mechanics in San Rafael and found Peruva was open but closing in 20 minutes. Went there, and though they were busy dealing with customers and getting ready to close, they helped me out. They were able to pull the window up out of the door frame and secure it into it could be fixed on Monday. Wouldn't even let me pay them! And this for a woman who just drove in with a crisis right before closing time. They're honest and kind. Won my loyalty! read more

The owner, Luis, is very professional and knows what he is doing. I took my 06 Jag here because my check engine light was on.
