Dave repaired my crushed car back to new in less time than any other body shop, and at a much lower cost. He also drove my car to my mechanic next door for an A/C repair, saving me more money because he had the front end removed for the body work. So, if your vehicle has taken a great fall like Humpty Dumpty, and you can't afford all the king's horses and all the king's men. On Sunday my splash guard on my car broke off (due to the negligence of another repair shop) as I was driving over the Golden Gate Bridge. Out of desperation I began calling all the shops in Sausalito even though they were closed. Dave Healey called me back within a few minutes and offered to help me even though his shop was closed! Dave, Scott and everyone else at DJ Healey Auto Body are an amazing crew. Dave does everything from very expensive vintage Ferraris, to brand new cars all the way down to a VW Bug. He has fixed my car time and time again, and is a super honest guy. Being of the young female type I often worry that I have no idea why my car is doing what it is, how much it should really cost etc. I never have to worry about that with Dave, he takes care of the problem, in a timely manner and at a fair price. When I got the car back it looked brand new, he basically did a full detail on the outside. Small scratches were removed that were not even part of the original job! Dave is awesome! What a genuinely nice guy. I had seen a recommendation of him on nextdoor and called this morning because I was hit and run. The fender was torn away from the frame. He told me to bring it on by right then. He fixed it good as new in a half hour and sent me on my way a mere $60 lighter. As painless and easy and reasonable as could be. This review is well overdue, but Dave deserves a glowing endorsement for his skilled and (more importantly) honest work. I took my car in to touch up several nicks and scratches that seem to have become an unfortunate side effect of urban living. Dave assessed the damage and did a nice job managing my expectations before beginning any work. He told me the worst scratch, after touch-up, would merely pass the "5 foot test"... meaning it would be visible up close if subject to inspection but not noticeable otherwise and from a reasonable distance. I imagined myself going to the dealer and paying many multiples of Dave's price quote, only to become the victim of another hit and run within 30 minutes of the paint drying. So I opted for Dave's service and could not have been happier with the result. He took a great deal of pride in his work, voluntarily spending extra time mixing the silver paint until it was just right. The touch-ups look great (even closer than 5 feet), the price was more than fair, and it was simply refreshing to do business with Dave. Not that I hope for a reason to go back, but if that day comes I will be relieved to have Dave's number in my rolodex. read more

Dave, Cid, and Scott are the only people I trust with my cars. Whenever I hear something make a sound I'm not sure about (which, with cars, is a lot of sounds) or I smell something, or even when I'm interested in knowing a bit more about a car I'm thinking about buying, I stop by the shop. It is close enough to my place of work that I am able to walk to and from the shop easily, and I have never had better mechanical service on my vehicles. The dirt lot and the modest office may not be invitingly five-star, but everything else about DJ Healey Auto Body shines as brightly as any sparkling five stars can. After meeting its personable owner, it was easy to believe the glowing reviews, all of which were confirmed when I picked up my car--in a shorter time to that estimated--in spit-spot condition. My 2008 Honda CRV looked new! What required attention was the front bumper that a hit-and-run driver had damaged. As often happens with such experiences, something good was bound to come of it. It did. I found a body shop that would deliver excellent, fair, straightforward, trustworthy and reliable service, from a genuinely nice human being. Dave restores one's faith in humankind. Not sure why this shop hasn't been reviewed until now! Been going to Dave for about 3 years now. It's rare to find this kind of no-nonsense/no-BS approach to auto works. Huge asset for Sausalito. This is a great local shop. I was impressed by the owner Dave's obvious true love for his work, his customer care and professionalism as well as friendliness. He seems to consider customers as his neighbors, which makes dealing with him a pleasure. Ask Dave about his professional philosophy, and you'll be impressed. Really cares about your car, hears all concerns, and does not take short cuts. He has a great local rep and experience dealing with insurance, especially since in a previous life he worked in the field, and this can be helpful when insurance claims get confusing. He has just moved to a new location and still developing the place, but his shop is fully on-line and professional. They took great care of my car and it felt good to work with a community and eco-minded shop. You can trust this guy to take care of you, and you'll enjoy the process as well. Oh, and he's even planted redwood trees around the place, a big improvement to the crappy vacant lot that was there before--you gotta love a tree-planting car guy! read more
