Luis at JR is amazing! I backed my car into my fence. I went to another auto repair and was quoted a ridiculous price! I went to JR and was quoted half the price! He promised my car in 3 days and delivered! Domingo did a great job on my car! JR - honest , reasonable and dependable! Nice people too! Only place to go!! read more

Well, I thought I could trust the guy brought my vehicles there every time I needed them painted fixed had an accident ding my Chevy bolt all the paint peeled off my truck had a serious accident in the rear. The bed was put on. It was crooked so that I brought it back and somehow they fixed it turns out my frame is still crooked to this day and he refused to give me the specs. He says it's been too long. He had to have known this. He made it over $40,000 on that on my truck fix fixing it. I do not recommend this shop. read more

I just did my first body repair with Luis at JR. This turned out to be a perfect experience in every way. Luis, the owner, gave me a very reasonable quote. He took the car the following week, and gave it back in five days as promised. The job is so perfect! I can't believe how perfect it is! I love this place. Highly recommended! read more

An honest, careful and no nonsense body shop? Yes. Right in San Rafael. Luis is straight up and is nothing less than a neighborhood asset. He's won my business for certain. Keeps costs fair and does good work on time. Cant ask for more. read more

I have been using JR auto body for all my collision and body repair for over twenty years. Luis is an honest, hard-working expert and has always provided outstanding service. You will never go wrong working with JR auto body! read more

The front quarter panel on my Kia Sportage was broken pretty badly, but JR Auto Body did a phenomenal job of getting the right parts and then painting much more than the quarter panel so it isn't obviously at all that my car's been repaired. They also painted the hood since the clear coat was almost entire pealed off, and the polished the headlights. Luis is phenomenal to work with! Very responsive and supportive. Worked well with the insurance quote, and had the work completed in the time frame he estimated. I highly recommend JR Auto Body and Luis for any body repairs. They're excellent! read more

J R Auto Body - This is the quarter panel that was so badly damaged. - Auto Repair Near Me - San Rafael, California

If you want honest and just price owner, this is the place to go. The owner didn't even charge me after giving me a quote yesterday, he said job was too easy that he taught it was not worth ripping you off like some other shop named DNA that did try to rip me off for the same job at $200 something dollars. Thank you again, looking forward to my next custom job that i will need for the same car in the future. read more

I would definitely recommend JR Auto Body. I took my car there for a door scratch. I got keyed by someone. Luis and his crew did an excellent job painting the car. It is a very honest and good shop. They had it done exactly when they said for the price quoted. Very pleased read more

Luis and his team did a great job repairing the damage to my Camry after it was rear-ended but it's their follow-up service that really impressed me. Several weeks after the repair, I accidentally peeled off the corner of the protective strip on the newly repaired back bumper and damaged the paint job underneath. I showed it to Luis and he had the entire bumper repainted at no expense. He even reattached a front panel that I had knocked loose in the time between paint jobs, again free of charge. It's a real pleasure to find places that stand by their work like Luis does. I hope to have zero need for an auto body shop going forward but if I do, this is the only place where I'll take my car. read more

JR auto body and Luis did a miracle on my Aston Martin. My Aston was in really bad shape as I had let it go. It had a bent hood, damaged paint, and many large dents. It was a wreck. I ordered a used hood on eBay and Luis and the shop made the entire car look brand new with a two tone paint job that was perfect!!! Everyone has been asking me about my car since I got it out of the shop. They basically have me a brand new car. They were so good the car paint and body work is unreal. Like it came from the factory. The body is immaculate, smooth, detailed and no mistakes. They are so professional, knowledgable, and helpful. They have a good command of ultra high end cars and paint. I will be brining my Mercedes SL 63 AMG here next! High recommended!!!! Five big stars. Thank you JR Auto Bo read more

Our MINI had a very dented driver's door when someone backed into it in a parking lot. I got five estimates. JR was low, two others a little higher, two others about twice the JR price. JR replaced the door with a new one, matched the paint perfectly, perfectly fixed a very small dent on the other side at no extra cost, and finished the job exactly when Luis said they would. Definitely a five star operation! read more

JR Auto Body does excellent work. Great customer service and quick service. I had a collision over two years ago and they fixed it right away looking good as new. Two years later I had an issue with the frame popping out (likely my fault) and they fixed it right away, no questions asked. Highly recommend this place. read more

I stopped by the San Rafael location to get an estimate on a hood paint job. I liked the price they offered so I decided to follow up, but they refused to work on my vehicle. They claimed to be too busy to fit my vehicle into their schedule. Even after I expressed I was ok to wait for an opening they still refused. Bad communication and organization, would not recommend. read more

Luis is a liar I have known Luis for over 15 years and began taking my car to him when he was located in the Woodland shopping center in San Rafael. I have always had a good working relationship with him. When he relocated to his current location I brought my car in after an Uber driver sideswiped me. I have AAA insurance and when I filed a claim I was told he was not on the approved list. Because I had worked with him before and his location was across the street from the rental car company I chose to get an estimate with him. This was my mistake. Choosing loyalty. Luis told me that working with AAA would not be a problem that he was in fact approved and he works with a woman named Carla at AAA all the time. He said that his work is guaranteed and if I had any problems all I need to do was bring my car back. The work had been completed and after about four months I needed to take my car into the dealership because there was an issue with the front radar system located under the bumper. I was told by the dealership that there had been some overspray from the paint job that Luis had completed and that was interfering with the radar system functioning properly. I phoned Luis and explained the situation and that is when he told me that he was not going to look at the car that it was essentially my problem and that he never mentioned anything about being approved for AAA and that he was washing his hands of the problem. I was absolutely shocked by his response. I called AAA and although Carla's information was not attached to my claim I contacted her as well as my claims agent to try and sort this out. Basically I was told that it is a very rigorous process to be on the approved list through AAA and it's not something that can be sorted out by making a phone call. I was told that Luis lied so that he could collect the over $5000 in business from AAA. Luis will say anything to get your business. Don't make the same mistake I did. read more

Seven or eight years ago, Ii found this shop and was quite impressed, with the service, the owner, and the overall quality. Last week, now driving a different car, I called Luis and he actually remembered me and my car. Again, impressed. Luis is one of those rare businessmen who makes you feel glad you are doing business with him. Upstanding, friendly, honest. Even my insurance company AAA, thinks highly of him. I cannot recommend this auto repair shop enough. read more

I had an accident entering I-294 by slamming into the guardrail while driving, that caused extensive damage to the entire driver's side of my car. The damage was from the headlight to the taillight. While waiting for insurance approval for the repairs, JR made it possible for me to enter and exit my car without having to crawl in from the passenger side. Once I got approved for the estimate, it only took 2 weeks for the completed results. Now my 2019 Ford Fusion looks just like new! Very professional staff doing excellent work. I would definitely recommend them to others, as well as return to them if I need service in the future. read more

Great work. You'd never know there was any body damage. Kept me informed throughout the repair process.

Just got my truck out after having JR work on it. They took care of me in a big way with a great price, great communication, and great service, including buffing the car out, attaching some extra accessories, and fixing other blems on the vehicle for a very small extra fee. You can't beat the prices. They were WAY lower than other estimates I received, and the work looks very nice. Thanks Luis! read more

These guys are great! Luis is fair, honest, on time! Best price in town. I only take my cars to Luis and I have two teenage boys driving! I will become his best customer! Best to Luis and his staff! read more

Very reasonable and timely delivery. They gave me the lowest estimate and also delivered before time.

Ive taken both my trucks here for years. Even when I live way up north I will drive them down for him to work on them. I can call out of the blue randomly and he always seems to be able to fit me in. Great prices honest work. read more

I had a great experience a few years and recommended a call to Luis to a coworker when his new car was sideswiped. He checked with other shops and then went with JR. He was delighted by the price, the work quality, the timeliness of the job and the fact that he was told exactly what was going to be done. I was rear-ended two days ago and went there immediately. The best, in my book! read more

Luis and his team are absolutely artists. My car was keyed and then to boot someone backed into me - talk about having a stressful depressing day to say the least! Luis was a total pro dealt with my insurance company for me I just had to drop it off then return to see my car looking like I just purchased it. Easy location to get to right off of 101 - staff is super talented! If I could give a 10 I would. Like dealing with local and host people who look after you. read more

I highly recommend this place for collision repair. I recently took my Honda Accord in after getting into a fender bender that was my fault, so I would have had to pay out of pocket. They kept the car for a few hours and did what they could to get it back on the road, without trying to keep it and charge me tons of money for repairs I can't afford right now. I don't know any other shops that would have done that for me. If I need any repairs in the future, this is absolutely the place I am taking my car. read more

I recently had the front bumper repaired/replaced on my Honda Insight. J R's estimate was $400-1000 less than other better known body shops in the area. I was self pay. They did an excellent job in addition to being very responsible/responsive/reliable. I'd highly recommend them!!!!! read more

had my daughter's car fixed here this spring. Luis gave me a fair estimate, worked with my insurance company, did what he said he would, on time... and then when i came to pick it up... he had knocked out and painted over a couple of other dings (not part of the insured accident) on his own nickel. C'mon...who does that? read more

On my mechanic's (Elliot Zalta) recommendation, I went to Luis and was delighted. Nice guy, perfect work, extra mile, and I fell in love with my car again, it looked so good. Luis is an artist and an honest human being. Can't recommend him enough. read more

We have unfortunately needed body work on our car no less than three times in the past five years and have taken it to Luis all three times. We have always been happy with the results as well as the outstanding service. Luis is friendly, impeccably professional, and offers very reasonable prices. We also had the experience noted by other reviewers of the shop fixing "a few extras" at no extra cost. They even had a loaner car for us. In fact, the whole experience was so painless that we may not be sufficiently worried about finding ourselves back there... read more

I was introduced to Luis at J R Auto Body some years ago by a friend (Elliot Zalta) who owns an auto repair shop and I can't say enough good things about Luis and the impressive quality of the work his shop does. I drive a classic 2002 Lexus SC 430 convertible and Luis did such a beautiful job - at such an amazing price - the last time that when I was in an accident recently (even though I'm now living in Carmel) I took the car back to Luis. Not only did he repair the damage from the accident, he fixed two other places - all for lower than other estimates I received - and my car looks like it just came off the showroom floor! And that's not all!! As if an accident was not enough, I was hospitalized with pneumonia right after I returned from Marin and was not able to pick up my car... Luis drove it down for me and returned the rental car - and would not accept an extra dime in payment!! As others have said, Luis is an artist and a friendly, honest, upstanding, human being - a true gem among men. I cannot possibly recommend him highly enough. read more
