Pollo a la Parilla
Carolyn C.

Small, friendly cafe with big flavors and platters of food. The staff are warm and kind, and the atmosphere is lovely and comforting. The food is absolutely amazing in terms of taste and quality of the fresh ingredients. Arroz con Masriscos is best compared to a seafood paella for a bargain price. The Fried Seafood Platter is perfect with a light breading fried to a golden crunch, with mussels, shrimp, squid, fish, imitation crab and yucca, accompanied by fresh lime and a nice tartar sauce. The Pollo Saltado has flavors of Chinese and South American cuisine in the chicken, soy, tomatoes and onions over rice and French fries. The side salad is fresh and plentiful with a light vinaigrette dressing. We were too full to try the dessert, as we had to take leftovers home. Peru Cafe Express is a wonderful experience that you must enjoy yourself.

Jalea (Fried Seafood Platter)

Great service and food. If you're looking for a solid Peruvian spot try this place. They were very attentive, would come back again.

My wife and I loved Peru Cafe Express. The Empanadas were tasty and we loved all of them. Tried a chicken, a beef and a cheese empanada.... they were gone before we knew it. They brought us a small plate with a small salt and pepper shaker and a red and green sauce with tiny spoons. The red had some serious heat, the green was a little milder, both were great. The chicken and rice soup was savory but the rice and chicken were sparse, the broth was stellar. The Tallarin Verde Con Bisteck/ Pesto Fettucine with flat steak was my favorite.....8 stars! I've never tried this particular Peruvian dish before, it's my new favorite! We'll be back for more of these goodies!

Lomo Saltado Sauteed Beef

Not my favorite Peruvian place in Houston unfortunately. I've tried Peru Gourmet recently and wanted to compare it to another Peruvian restaurant and chose this place since I've heard good things! Hours are a bit odd since they close at 7p. I ordered the fish ceviche while my friend ordered the lomo saltado. I felt like my fish could have been fresher- it was a little chewy. The portion was definitely generous but I do think I prefer Peru Gourmet's in terms of flavor and freshness. I also wish they had baked the sweet potato so it was softer. I tried my friend's lomo saltado- I felt like they didn't put enough beef. The beef itself was a bit tough and chewy, I thought the flavor was decent but not remarkable. He requested fried rice instead of white rice which was an extra $2. Service was great! The staff came up to check on us multiple times. Prices are reasonable.

Yummy!! Today I was starving and I got the chicken cilantro rice soup, Chicken empanada Fried plantain side Yucca huancaina style appetizer. Everything was delicious! I didn't feel heavy or bad after I ate. I wasn't able to eat all the plantain but I'll get to it. No pictures this time. Customer service is the best. Great people working there.

Fish Ceviche

A small and cozy restaurant serving delicious Peruvian food. We had the causa and fish ceviche. The causa was better than the ceviche, the empanadas de ají de gallina were very tasty too. (I'd recommend going for the hot foods)

Choros a la Chalaca

Food is amazing, I never try CHOROS A LA CHALACA steamed mussels on a lime juice and pico de gallo omg. Was amazing, but the ceviche misto is the best thing I ever had is just perfect in every sense Amazing

Arroz con pescado

Very good Peruvian food. I came here with my friend whose mother is Peruvian so he had high expectations. The plantains are DELICIOUS. I would say the ceviche was not that good and didn't taste that fresh, but you have to consider that Houston is not that coastal. The arroz con pescado however was delicious and packed with flavor. Would recommend this place and excited to check it out again!

Back at one of my favorites!…read more Started with the Smoked Redfish Dip and, as always, it did not disappoint. Creamy, smoky, flavorful, and paired with warm crackers... an easy 10/10. I decided to step outside my comfort zone and try the Oysters Rockefeller... and let's just say they weren't my speed. They weren't bad, just not for me. So naturally I sent them back and ordered my tried-and-true favorite... Chargrilled Oysters with extra garlic butter, Parmesan, and bacon. Now THAT'S what I came for! Rich, buttery, cheesy, smoky, and absolutely loaded with flavor. Every bite reminded me why these are my go-to. And because brunch rules apply... it was only right to enjoy a pineapple mimosa (or two ). Light, refreshing, and the perfect pairing for all that seafood. If you're visiting Goode Co. Seafood, my advice is simple: Don't skip the Smoked Redfish Dip. Order the Chargrilled Oysters. Add extra garlic butter. Thank me later. 9.5/10 -- I'll definitely be back! #LoveJonesEats #HoustonEats #GoodeSeafood #ChargrilledOysters #SeafoodLover #HoustonFoodie #BrunchVibes #MimosaMood #SupportLocal #FoodieFinds

Although I like the Gray St. location a little better taste wise for my dynamite shrimp, I think that the University Blvd location is easier to get a reservation. This is a really good choice for date night, a family event or a girl's night. Always nice, clean and bright. Surprisingly, the chicken Parm is one of my favorite dishes here. It's probably top two for me and I've had a lot of chicken Parm. The burger is my second choice; it is so good! One of my favorite appetizers is the Dynamite Shrimp and the salad that's under has a fire dressing that they should bottle. But overall, I've tried several things with the people I've gone with, and there's nothing bad on the menu. Definitely get a reservation in advance... This isn't really a place you can just walk in unless you're sitting at the bar and you've gotten there at a good time. Parking is valet at the gray street location. It's very hard to find regular parking there. You can find parking pretty easily at the University Blvd location. My only real complaint is the service is slow... And I've had different servers at different locations and they all don't really move with a sense of urgency. It takes them a while to get back to you so you can place an order... It takes a while for them to bring out your drinks. Overall, just slow service and that's why I deducted a star.

The Servers and Managers were very welcoming they picked up that he was visiting on leave. They were genuinely interested and so welcoming. So many restaurants start off from the mind set that they can make the patrons jump through whatever hoops or meet any number of strange criteria just to come dine, but they made sure we felt welcomed. Everybody had a great time with the visuals and the taste of the signature cocktails, the frozen orange juice as a floater in the ome the ladies ordered is a standout. Our appetizers portion of the meal was our overall highlight here on this visit. The 3 available raw east coast variety were presented tastefully and were fresh of course. Grilled octopus was easily some of the best prepared I've had, they nailed the texture. Eggplant dish was crispy, lobster gnocchi was spectacular with how much lobster made it on to the plate and quality of the gnocchi itself. Our mains were excellently prepared, I had the Tilefish, it was exactly as described by our waiter, and the crispy skin was executed perfectly. My wife's lamb chops were cleaned off the bone, not much higher of a compliment to be made there. Really the experience was capped off with class when we approached our agreed upon time to wrap things up prior to the concert. We had taken all of our time with the hot portion of the meal that we had left none for dessert. The staff then in unison changed out our plates and plated our selection of what seemed like all the dessert options for us to pick from as we liked. They allowed us a little extra time to enjoy the end of our meal and it was an amazing way to end our visit to Little's.
