We decided to make an appointment to get an estimate on trimming and cutting our 20 Cypress trees. They were able to have someone to come out on the same day we called. A young man showed up about 15 minutes early of our appointment and gave us a reasonable price. Since we already had few other companies came out to give us estimates, we knew this company's price is decent. Although we felt unsure about his company's work after reading some 1 start reviews on Yelp, but compare to 444 reviews on HomeAdvisor, we decided to take the risk and had PTS to come to work on the trees. As you can see in the photos, the tresses were done properly. At one point, I came out to see the progress of the work, I saw the workers trying to fix the sprinkler they accidentally broke while working on the trees. From this observation, it shows that this company is responsible and trustworthy. They could have just hide the fact that they broke the sprinkler and left after they pick up the check from us, but they choose to do the right thing. We had a good experience with PTS. We needed 2 trees and various shrubs removed, along with trimming 5 large olive trees--so we submitted requests for estimates from a few places. We selected PTS to move forward with because they seemed knowledgeable, their price was in line with what we wanted to spend and they had a certified arborist on staff. They had some unexpected personnel issues that prevented them from doing the whole project on the same day. So their removal team came one day, the stump removal guys came another and then the tree trimmers came on the 3rd. It wasn't ideal but they were apologetic and accommodated us around our availability-- People get sick, life happens and we understood the situation. They also accidentally broke one of our sprinkler heads bc the trees that needed to be removed were located on a slope, behind a fountain-- so it was awkward space to begin with. I didn't notice until the next day so I called them to explain what had happened. The were apologetic and sent someone the very next day and fixed it. Although not everything went according to plan, I was happy with their prompt responses and willingness to satisfy me a customer. I hired them to remove palm tree. The workers arrived half hour earlier than the appointment time, caused some inconveniences but that is ok. When I pointed out that they need to go deeper to clean out the root, the guy gave me a look but he ran his machine further. the owner promised 2 feet deep, they didn't go that depth at all. As long as the tree won't grow back, I am ok. However, They put few palm leaves on the lawn, and threw trunks directly onto it. When they were done, there was a dent left on the lawn in the front yard. I contacted the owner, who said they were coming back to fix, but 10 days passed and I don't see anybody coming. read more

We have been quite worried about two very overgrown Ash trees in our backyard. EDISON has been trimming the trees on one side only. This left the trees very unbalanced. We have been concerned that some very heavy branches could break and damage our roof. We called PTS Lawn and Tree Service Inc and had an estimate in two days. Joe discussed pricing then sprayed to kill my grass he promised in 2 week once grass is dead his team will place new sod without moving my current sprinklers. I didn't hear back till 6 weeks later, they randomly came and started on my lawn and moved my sprinklers around. Joe came the following day to collect payment. A few weeks later lots of brown grass. I called both Joe and then company multiple times, finally a month latter Joe shows up to fix a few sprinklers but says in my system that's old and need new box. I ended up getting new box but grass is still dieing, I noticed the pressure with the sprinklers are not the same. He said he'll come and fix but that was 2 months ago. The 5-man crew that de-debris'd our 2-city-lot backyard of masses of dead brush, leaves, foliage and one passe tree were like a special forces group that came, saw, destroyed and retreated, leaving no trace that anyone had been there. Awesome! And all that in 2 daylight days under blistering summer temperatures. Team leader Oracio knows how to tame foliage and in a jungle garden, ours having been neglected for decades similar to the film "Grey Gardens." I left the crew to their expertise, thinking of the project as a strategic assault that may have at first looked chaotic, but then crafted together like a work of art, with minimal fine-tuning here and there. The crew was quiet (no yelling to each other unlike many who disrespect neighbors' rights to as much peace and quiet as one can get during large neighborhood home improvement projects); the crew was polite, self-sufficient, efficient, fast and team-coordinated, as one sees in old movies where the locals move steadily like a human convoy ferrying basketsful of goods on their shoulders. The crew removed all their personal items (water bottles, food wrappings, tab tops) from the property when they were finished with the job, no homeowner after-cleanup required. Oracio, who originally provided the estimate, participated as both as a crew member and supervising team lead. That's impressive on its own! More often, estimators vanish after the contract is signed and a clueless crew shows up without any supervision. Not with PTS. The emailed estimate came as a package: business license, insurance, liability, estimate bundled altogether, without my asking. Very professional and reassuring. For the cost, each man muscled for and earned his share over those 2 days. The property now looks totally alive, new and shaped, worth every penny. Footnote: Of 6 companies contacted, 3 didn't follow up with verbal or written estimates, 2 didn't have the resources to fit the job (one was ready to go hire off the streets). They were great. I called in the morning and they were able to have someone out that night for a quote. They gave me options of have the trees chopped down or trees and root removal (which another company I contacted did not give me those options). I opted to pay more for root removal so I can plant other things there. They were able to perform the services quoted within 48 hours of quote. I was actually out of town when they took out the trees and roots so I can't comment on the process or noise, but I went over to apologize for any inconvenience to my neighbors who didn't even know we had the trees removed so the noise could not have been too bad. I was shocked when I got home to see that my yard actually looked better after all of this than before! Not only did they remove the trees and roots, they put the dirt back in place and hosed off my patios so everything was looking neat and clean when I saw it. The only thing I will say is that I think they only have one girl who answers the phones so sometimes you have to leave a message but she got back to me no problem. I called these guys to come out and trim a giant birds of paradise I had touching the powerlines and pushing back my cement wall towards my neighbors house. They came out and gave me an estimate which was a little bit lower than the other estimates that I got for the job. The morning that I called them to hire them they were able to send somebody out to three hours later. The two guys that showed were very fast, clean, and professional. They helped me figure out exactly how I wanted it trimmed to keep some height but still have it cleaned up looked good and stop touching the wall and the powerlines.
