As an Atlanta-newbie, I was really missing my hairstylist back home and kind of skeptical that I would find another person I liked as much and that would do some of the crazy things I would ask of her. I mean, we had been seeing each other for years now and became friends. The relationship you have with your hairstylist is a special one. You have to trust each other. So, I asked around and asked around. After about a year, I stopped in Star Salon and scheduled my consultation with Jessica. I anxiously awaited my appointment, and to prepare, I took to Pinterest -- pinning everything I liked. As someone who is not afraid to experiment with cut or color, I really need to trust the person that is going to cut and color my hair. What if we aren't on the same page? What if she thinks I want something I don't want? Ahhhhhh. So, I showed up to my consultation with my Pinterest board at the ready. Jessica was was excited to see the pictured I pinned. Her taste completely meshed with mine, and she made me excited about scheduling my actual cut and color. We went over a bunch of ideas, and I left feeling confident that I was in good hands. And boy was I. She was booked for awhile, so if you are interested in scheduling an appointment, go ahead and get to it right away. I think it took 3 or 4 weeks for me to get the next appointment with her. If you are thinking about doing a consolation, you might want to schedule both so you don't have to wait any longer than you need to. We scheduled my appointment for an evening after work, about a three hour block of time. She had some great ideas, and I totally trusted what she wanted to do. And the final result was (is) perfect. I get so many compliments on my new do and color. I have had yellow hair for a couple years, and since leaving Florida, I had just let it grow out because I hand't found a new person. And I am so glad I found Jessica. She made my hair yellow again, and added some orange too, and I feel like me again. Like I'm supposed to be. And it doesn't hurt that everyone seems to love it too. Note: If you live in the area (Inman Park, Little 5), she offers a discount.

Genie is extremely racist against people who are white and she is a horrible hair stylist. I left…read morehere in tears, it was nothing but lies and disappointment. I've never had an experience like this in my entire life, please save yourself the trouble and whatever you do, do not go here. I cut my hair very short and really wanted extensions. Genie promises all over her website that she guarantees satisfaction and that she is an expert in the hair industry..she is not. Look at what she did to the other client who left a 1 star review on Google reviews..Genie does not know how to do hair! Halfway through the hair appointment, Genie began to tell me how much she hated white women telling me that they're not human, "they're all ugly", and that she "loves to take their money" to do their extensions. I kept quiet and she even became annoyed with me for not agreeing with her. At this point, I knew I had made a mistake coming to her because no professional, normal, good person would talk about how much they hate a certain race for hours on end; it was absolutely unbelievable. Later in the appointment, I hear Genie say "Uh oh." She had run out of hair for my extensions despite me having come in the week prior for a consultation to get my EXACT measurements. After paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars, I was left with sparse, stringy, unblended, thin extensions with my tracks showing through which you can see in the picture. I was crying because I was so devastated by how horrible the finished version of my hair looked. She started to panic and gathered some random, off-colored pieces of hair that she found lying around. She put those random pieces in my head all the while telling me that she's the best in the business but she didn't know what to do. I went home with my hair looking terrible, and I took it out after only a few days. Another stylist who removed Genie's extensions for me told me that the hair was incredibly low quality which is not what Genie promised...Genie is in her 70s or 80s and she is out of touch with how extensions should be put in. She's a good saleswoman because I truly believed she would be "different" and "fix all of my hair problems" and that she has the best of everything and is an expert, but it's all lies. Another client that I saw in her office had thin hair extensions that didn't look blended well and my hair was also this way too. The pictures on her website also look very old to me as if they're from a long time ago, so I'm not sure if Genie used to be a good stylist years ago, but she no longer knows how to do hair. She charged me $600 for the hair plus the time to put it in and it didn't even look good! I've been getting extensions since I was 12 years old, and I've never ever paid that much especially for the hair to look so low quality and for poor service from such an unprofessional, no-skill, racist woman.

Not only is Genie professional but she does an outstanding job! Since getting my extensions my actual hair health has greatly improved, even my regular stylist mentioned it. She suggested me to use The Conditioner by Paul Mitchell on my new hair as well as my own hair and my hair went from somewhat frizzy and overworked due to the mass amount of heat I put on it to shiny and healthy. I could never leave the house without flat ironing my hair or it looked terrible, now with this product + the extensions that are identical to the texture of my hair I can leave the house with a wet head even and my hair turns out wonderfully. I definitely recommend her services, especially after having extensions in the past! Also, just to notate - I am caucasian, with fine hair, and my extensions stay without slipping for several weeks. She works magic! :)

Asked for highlights and showed the owner a few photos of the color I wanted which was more towards the ashy blonde/light brown side and perhaps w/ pink or purple highlights. I was drawn to this salon because of the amazing pictures, so I did innately trust the owner who seemed to be extremely personable and professional to color my hair at least decently. Went home under natural light to find my hair color two shades darker and basically black with some barely there highlights behind my head that were inside my hair. Went to another hair salon ten days later to color correct, and the stylist literally said: "i don't get it, there are literally strands of white that haven't been dyed just like randomly put into the back of ur head". Felt like my hair was dyed on a whim, and she didn't really put much thought into if I liked it or not. I remember texting her to get a color adjustment before I took matters into my own hands-- she texted back once that she'd be willing to and then I never heard from her again after multiple attempts to reach out. It's funny cuz I would've dropped any amount of money just to get my desired result, and would've been a faithful repeat customer. The photos show the effect I wanted and what it turned out to be. I can't think of any other reason why they'd do this since they all seemed so nice, except that she thought she could get away with it.
