Egg white omelet with mushroom and onion was really good with hash brown potatoes. Customer can add two items to omelet at no extra charge. As usual, we forgot to tell them to put all veg and cheese inside omelet. We chose buttermilk pancakes instead of bread with our meal. On another day we tried Everything Omelet with veg, cheese, potatoes, and pancakes. On another day we tried Turkey dinner. Made-from-scratch pumpkin pancakes with scrambled egg whites and steamed broccoli were really good for Sunday brunch in the fall. Brother enjoyed chicken noodle soup followed by grilled chicken breast, rice and broccoli. Salmon with steamed broccoli and grilled asparagus was also very good. Chicken pot pie with asparagus was good. In addition to being a restaurant, Perkins is also a bakery, and we've tried some of their baked goods such as oatmeal cookie with cranberry, pumpkin muffin, pumpkin pie. Service can definitely be boosted/ improved . We came to eat here. Arrived approximately 6:55pm. Waited for about 7 minutes until someone acknowledged us AND it wasn't even the host/manager. It was a server. After being seated we had ordered pancakes and the tremendous 12. It took them more than 45 minutes until we got our order. The pancakes on the one side were practically burnt and one wasn't even cooked all the way through. I always loved Perkins pancakes. They are the best out of all of the diners . The crispy pancakes that we got and the raw/under cooked potatoes did not taste good at all.However we ate everything cause we were starving and waited sooo long . The waitress did offer us some more to make it right. We declined cause we didn't want to wait another 45 minutes. Mind you there was only one other person in the dining room. Maybe the young female cook has to be trained again or replaced. Perkins did give a discount for our not so great experience though. read more

Our waitress Hope G. was so kind. Not only was she respectful and caring, but also she messed up a slice of my lemon meringue pie and gave another for free. She later came up and told me and my family that we all needed to have a slice of dessert on the house. My sister then got a carrot cake. Beautiful way to end the day. Best chicken tenders I had in a while. Chicken was nicely fried and the french fries were the perfect size and nicely fried as well. Way better and cheaper than Dorney Park's chicken and fries. I saw a few reviews about workers and I just want to say they have upgraded. The manager was nice and so were the other waitresses. 10/10 I will be coming back soon. We gave Hope. The staff, food, ambiance and services are excellent. I visited during the week, around 10 AM. The generous hospitality of the staff was remarkable. I felt as if I was invited into a friendly home atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant. The coffee is hot, the food is prepared well and the entire place seems like home. We haven't come here lately because the last several times have been awful. Tonight my husband and I both ordered a turkey dinner with mashed potatoes. Mine came out cold. I never send my dinner back but I did tonight. The manager took it back to the kitchen and returned the plate to me. The plate was hot but the meal was still cold. I was here for breakfast and was impressed with the professionalism of the staff. They were very pleasant and catered to all of my needs in a timely manner. My breakfast was filling and cooked just how I ordered. I aided blueberries to my three pancakes which was part of my platter. It was a .99 up charge and I was surprised to the amount of blueberries that I received. It really made me see the value here! The place was packed and it looked like everybody was taken care of. The Denny's of Pennsylvania. This is not a bad thing. Straight up American diner breakfast. Inside is nothing special. Small bakery area in front. Clean and comfy. Staff were super friendly. Our family ordered dinner to go last night. I won't go into what was wrOng with their good I'll just speak of my own. I ordered the chicken tender honey mustard salad. Their was vey littlle chicken on the salad. The cheese was hard to find and the only other ingredient was lettuce. There were some very large pieces of lettuce so it made itt necessary to cut it with a knife. I also want to mention the chicken was overcooked. Probably not too smart of us to get there at 12:30 pm for lunch in a heavily trafficked business district, but we did and we had to wait about 20 minutes. However, a meal at Perkins is well worth waiting for. Since we referenced Perkin's a couple of times in recent reviews of comfort food American restaurant we thought it would only be fair to write an actual review of the place on our next east coast trip. Thanksgiving 2011 and that time has come. We went to an Allentown, PA Perkin's on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. We've been here several times before. In a city known for diners, Perkin's holds its own with all the typical family diner fare...especially for, of course, brunch. If you get the coffee it comes in a large thermos so you can pour your own refills. The mugs are comfortable classic diner coffee mugs...the kind of mug that makes you feel like you're really drinking a cup of coffee. The coffee itself is okay...a couple of steps above 'browned water' but nothing too special. Drinkable. The go to breakfast items are the potato pancakes and the homemade muffins. They bake on site. Their potato pancakes deserve an explanation as it's not your typical European "latke" offering but are actually pancake (as in fluffy breakfast pancakes...) style potato pancakes. They're good...cooked with onions a side of applesauce and butter. (I'd replace the butter with sour cream in a perfect world...). They also offer their homemade muffins as one of the bread options...we both got pumpkin muffins which were a little dry but Addie swears by the raspberry cream-cheese muffin. Perkin's is a comfortable east-coast diner destination...with so many other one-off diners here in the Lehigh Valley, it may not be the top destination for brunch spots...if they had Perkin's in L.A. it might be lumped in with all the other chain family restaurants there, so part of our reason for going (besides the potato pancakes) is that it feels like a bit of a destination since we don't have them back home. The service is good. The crowd is full of people who probably have been going to Perkin's their entire lives. You can buy whole pies and boxes of muffins to take with you....I think we may try one of the Allentown-only diners next time around though. For that matter this has been a lot of reviews of regular American chain restaurants in a row so we may take a break and offer up something uniquely vegetarian next time around...err, at least until after Thursday morning's annual treak to Tiffany Diner in Philadelphia. It took so long to cool down I was already done with my entree by the time I could actually consume it. The waitress, Stacy, brought my soup out to me two minutes before my entree. She said someone forgot to bring out my soup. I was confused, because I thought that's what the waitress was supposed to do, and she was my waitress, so....? I ended up using my potato soup as a dip for my food so it would heat up the entree and to take off some of the sauce on my entree, which was the steak and potato platter. Karen the manager was rude, dismissive and truely an unpleasant person to handel the public . The coupon called for a 20% discount. She loudly argued it could not be accepted. Only because I have obviously been to Perkins before and never have a problem. This location is slow for No reason. They can't handle a Sunday morning breakfast crowd they shouldn't be in the breakfast serving business. Our waiter didn't come back to offer refills. We had six people at the table and the half empty tiny bottle of syrup was only enough for two people. We waited a good 5 minutes to try to see if we can get his attention to replace the setup but he never came back so we had to go up front for the syrup. The food also took forever to come out . he did apologize for that but we had to wait another 5 minutes for the bacon after we ate all of our other food. At the end we took a cups with us to pay because the kids were still pretty thirsty and we gotta refills to go and I just had to complain about this. Came here to avoid expensive food at Dorney Park nearby! As a party of 7, they didn't have a table large enough to accommodate all of us, so we sat at two booths next to each other. Which my friends and I didn't mind! However in a different situation, I could see how someone could complain. Our server (Ashley) was very nice and attentive! She often came by to check up, and refill drinks. The manager who was also working the floor, was super nice! He helped us separate checks! Perkins has a pretty reasonable menu. This location is relatively clean. I wasn't happy with my food though. Eggs were runny and cold. Coffee was a little too watery and I could taste the MSGs in the creamer. I'll return but will probably stick with the toast. read more
