My husband and I stopped at Periwinkle Kitchen for dinner on a Saturday. This is located off of Betsy Kerrigan Pkwy. There is plenty of parking. The outside of the restaurant is deceiving because it looks simple. The inside is beautiful, modern, spacious and well maintained. They offer wine and have a coffee bar. You can dine in or carry out. They offer breakfast daily from 8-3 and dinner from 3-9pm. The service was excellent. I had the grilled chicken tenders with sweet potato fries. The chicken was grilled and moist and tender and well seasoned. The sweet potato fries were cut in large wedges. They were crispy and topped with sea salt. The daily specials are listed and they offer a varied menu that will suit any discerning palate. I really enjoyed my meal and will be back again and recommend this place to friends and family. Highly recommend.

My wife and I visited Periwinkle Kitchen for the first time. It doesn't look like much from the outside of the building but when you enter the building, your opinion changes. The interior is clean, well decorated and very inviting. The seating would be sufficient for small groups, tables seating up to six. The staff was friendly and engaging. We were checked on several times during our meal and our drinks refilled. My wife and I had the Chicken bites and fries. Both potato and sweet potato fries. The food came out quickly and was cooked perfectly. The food was flavorful and fresh! We will definitely be back again to try some other items on the menu. I would recommend that you give Periwinkle Kitchen ao8 try, you will be pleasantly surprised!

Cutest little cafe! I'm visiting from out of town and wow was this place an amazing find! The staff was so friendly, the food was delicious, and the prices were so reasonable! I would definitely stop by again!

Delicious food for the kiawah area. To me the only game in town!!! We did two breakfast and one lunch and each time was perfect. The staff is very friendly and service is great!

Avocado toast with overeasy egg and citrus cilantro slaw.

Delicious food, quick service, lovely atmosphere, well priced. We loved it. I got the avocado toast with an egg and the citrus cilantro slaw. My husband got the chicken and pimiento cheese biscuit with grits. Man oh man. Cleaned our plates in a hot second. Would come very often if we lived here. (Probably better for our waistlines that we don't). Thanks for the great food and quick service.

Small and different ! Waitress very personable ! Cooks are great ! Dinner was good ! Two chicken sandwiches ! She crab soup! Chicken need salt very expensive ! This place is a treat! Straight forward menu ! It was light at dinner! Service great ! Chicken sandwich was good ! Local flavor! Togo items in freezer ! Desserts too expensive!

Great ma and pa shop! Breakfast was so delicious! For the cheesy grits which were phenomenal! Sat inside but the outside seating was also cute!

I went to Periwinkle kitchen for a late lunch while on vacation. When I arrived the cafe was surprisingly empty, even for an off time. There is ample seating in the dining area. They don't have the most comfortable tables and chairs, but the seating was all very clean. Service was excellent and our waitress was friendly and helpful. The food was alright, but nothing to write home about. The sandwiches were warm and fresh, but fell apart easily, especially my biscuit sandwich. The coffee was good though. I got a lavender latte and cold brew which were both quite tasty. Overall, Periwinkle kitchen isn't my first choice for cafe food, but a good option if you're looking for a quick option in the area.

Honey Butter-fried chicken and pimento cheese-biscuit.

One of the most magical culinary experiences of my life was trying their honey butter-fried chicken-biscuit sandwich with pimento cheese on top. Every single bite was a roller coaster of flavor, and I left the restaurant happy and full. Truly off the beaten path, but somewhere I will be 100% returning to next time I'm in the Kiawah Island area. My brother got the burrito with chorizo on it, and he says it's one of the best he's ever had in his life. Definitely a hole in the wall type feel on the exterior, but the inside of the restaurant is very clean and up-to-date, with very Dedicated service.

Great lunch spot. Best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had. Prime rib sandwich is bang'n. This place is a hidden gem.service was great. Fries are good. Love the salt. Sweet tea was good as well.

The Prime Rib dip and sweet potato fries - going back for this again!!

We had a wonderful experience at Periwinkle Kitchen & Cafe on Johns Island. Dining outside made it even more enjoyable, and the food did not disappoint. The Smash burger was fantastic--juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Sweet potato fries were some of the best I've had. My husband got the loaded potato salad as his side and by far the best he has ever had dining out. The Prime Rib Dip was equally impressive, rich and satisfying with a delicious roll and gooey melted cheese. A perfect outdoor spot for a great meal after a day on the beach. Indoor seating is available. Our server Adam was engaging and funny! Made us feel welcomed and a valued customer. He made sure our beverages were full and was a fun addition to a great meal. He even provided a chilled stainless steel bowl of water for our pup! We will be frequenting here more often! My only recommendation is a little outdoor update, pull the weeds and have a better curb appeal as it is on a busy road, even a shrub/lattice barrier between seating and parking lot/road.

I enjoyed a quick breakfast on my own today and really liked this cute place! They serve breakfast and lunch with many options. I had the Wake up Plate and I chose scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuit and cheddar grits. The latte was perfectly done. Good value for the amount of quality food that I had. Friendly service too!

Cute patio outside dining but we took food to go!

Anyone who's stayed on either Seabrook or Kiawah Island is most likely intimately familiar with this Harris Teeter. On many visits, we've found this store to be relatively well-stocked. However, the week before Easter was definitely a busy one for this store, and they were cleaned out of a lot of their typical offerings. For example, their take-and-bake pizzas are an easy and decent dinner after a day at the beach, but to our surprise, there were none left when we stopped in around 5 PM on a Wednesday. I'm confident that this not a regular occurrence - but something to note if you're visiting during the busy season. I will echo other reviewers that mentioned narrow aisles and an interesting layout. This store is definitely on the smaller side, and can feel crowded when there's multiple people in one aisle. One way to avoid this is shopping outside of peak hours ... early in the morning our later at night. The cashiers are mostly friendly and always fast. If you come from a state with Kroger or Fry's instead of Harris Teeter, rest assured that you can still input your phone number for your shopper rewards. Another positive is that I haven't noticed a difference in prices from this store and non-touristy grocery stores. Again, it does the trick for being the only grocery store at Freshfields. However, it could certainly use a little love and a few updates.

There is a trolly tour that's offered for about $18/pp which takes you around the plantation. Since we arrived late in the day, we opted not to do the trolly tour, but instead, toured the gift shop, sampled all the hot and cold teas (I think there were 12 samples), and took the 15 minute FREE factory tour. The teas? delicious! The tour? Super educational! It was great learning how tea grows, harvested, and processed. Whether you're a tea drinker or not, you will love stopping here. And if you're not in a rush, go sit in a rocker under the trees, or at one of the many picnic tables. Enjoy the fresh air and the sound of the birds. You won't be disappointed!

To get a feel for what they have to offer go into the little store that is on the pathway from the parking lot. Once you are inside, ask any questions that you may have to the person at the register or any personnel there they will happily introduce you to what they have to offer. They have bus tours that you can take to see the tea gardens if desired or just explore on foot. The bus tour will tell you about the different kinds of teas grown there and let you see it close up yourself. The store itself is a fun place to shop with unique gifts and there is also a place to try out some of the different teas that are in dispensers for tasting. The store is stocked with a variety of the teas they produce and popular ones from other major producers as well. I looked at all the different teas for sale and China cups and tea accessories. I ended up buying a tea strainer the kind I couldn't find in my local tea shop among other things. Sip and walk around to explore the store or take your tea outside and sit on the big porch overlooking the Tea Groves, It is very peaceful out there. After I went to the store, I stepped outside and walked across the street to explore the tea groves and look at the huge metal cup and straw and other artwork on the lawn. They are unique. It was a sunny day, so it was perfect for exploring on foot, although I could have probably seen the tea bushes more if I had gotten on the bus tour that they offer various times of the day, but I felt like just walking around and seeing everything. It is a pleasant way to spend a few hours of your day. Especially if you want to take in other places to site see that day. I enjoyed my time there getting outside to get some sunshine and see the tea and get in a little shopping indoors. I spent probably two hours there. It is a good way to relax in nature. I would stop in again when I come back to the area. It is something unique that would be perfect for a person that has a few hours to spend and enjoy a cup of tea.
