Typical Blackbird experience. The unfriendliest employees I have ever met. We are nothing but kind and have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Will support local businesses that appreciate customers! Thank you! Next!

This is a very cute roadside cafe! I stopped here on the way to Kiawah Island and I'm so glad that I did. It is both a market and kitchen. So they have produce and different foods that you can buy. I went for lunch and tried the salmon tacos and the fish sandwich. Both were delicious but the fish sandwich is truly one of the best fish sandwiches I've had! For service you order at the register and then food can be brought to you at tables outside. This is overall a super cute stop with great food! I thought prices were very reasonable as well

This is so crazy. I don't know what I just walked into. But this is beauty. They have everything in such a small space. Freshly butchered meat, , seafood, prefixed meals, wines, bear tap, dessert bar, grocery store, man you don't have enough time. Lol. Whoever thought of this is genius. You know who brought me here... Yelp!! . You never fail me. Yelp, one day I'm going to make an honest woman out of you. Lol. But let's see the goods let's see if the pictures are deceiving. I ordered a few desserts and a fried oyster dinner. I also ordered the potato salad and what they call vinegar coleslaw. They're a bit pricey but you only live once. My food came rather fast. I have to be honest here... These might be the best fried oysters I ever had. Definitely top three. Mind blowing!! This vinegar coleslaw is pretty different. It's definitely vinegary and peppery but there's a sweetness at the very end. I can eat this all day. Potato salad was pretty good it definitely served purpose. Homemade cocktail sauce, and homemade tartar sauce are so good. I was supposed to save these fried oysters for dinner but I just don't think they're going to make it. Lol. I am definitely coming back. They have items on the menu that are there every day and sometimes they have other things for that day. They also have a nice seating area outside if you want to eat in beautiful weather. It all makes sense when you think about it. John's Island still has that small town and this has the small-time market field. And they've created a One-Stop shop great food. Everything is so prime. The steaks look like they were carved out of the cow this morning. They look way better than grocery store steaks. I'm definitely going to come back and get a few prefix meals. The stuff baked potato looks so good. I'm going to go now cuz I'll be here talking about this place all day. Can't wait to come back.

My great aunts assisted living is down the road from here so I've been driving by a lot. I always look out for places to eat when I'm on this side of town and Blackbird was high on my list. One day we stopped in for a late lunch and we're so glad we did. Because it was later in the day, the special I wanted was already gone... understandable. I don't normally choose a salad for a meal, but the pesto grilled shrimp sounded so good that I ended up getting the caesar with shrimp. My friend also got a salad but opted for the Greek with herb crusted chicken. We looked around at the produce, groceries, homemade frozen meals, soups, and tomato pies before making our way outside to grab a table. If I recall correctly, there were no tables inside, but the outdoor tables are covered. They brought out our salads and the boxes had a real weight to them. At first I balked at the $15 a piece salads from a roadside market, but when we opened them up we saw they were more than worth it. Even with the caesar being mostly lettuce it was huge and packed with pesto shrimp. My friend took hers home after eating and still made two more salads out of it to take for lunch. We've been talking about these salads for weeks now (and salads aren't something I usually rave about) and can't wait to go back.

Blackbird market is just what I expected - a selection of fresh, local meats, produce, and goods. Staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the Turkey wrap, which was incredible. The side vinegar slaw was lacking salt and tasted too sour. My mom had the pot roast sandwich special, which she said also lacked salt and flavor. The tomato and cucumber salad was soggy and not enjoyable. I am hopeful that we just ordered the wrong sides and will be back to try Blackbird again!

Stopped in with some friends after an event. You order at the counter and then they bring you your food. There is a small set of tables outside you can sit at. Inside was cool market vibe w things to go as well as homemade snacks and desserts. Good selection of beer. Service was great it got busy fast but they maintained. It is well kept clean inside and out . We would return

Full $20 tomato pie

They screwed up multiple items on our to go order and I still want to give them five stars. (we ordered collard greens & got Mac n cheese) That's how amazing the food is! We had some of the she cans of women's supported wineries and local Beers. We had the chocolate and banana pudding to go. We had an entire tomato pie at home. We brought home the bourbon salmon from Canada. While there we had some grilled cheeses with bacon and ham and the tomato salad sides and mac & cheese. What didn't we have?!? I bought $14 Blue grits for my Chefy friend at home because they're so unique. Way to support the low country!! the kids loved playing with the Lincoln logs. Epic homemade dessert selection.

My hubby was not thrilled about the mahi sandwich, he said the $17 sandwich tasted frozen--not fresh; the menu did not specify either way.

I was craving fried…read moreshrimp, but didn't want to go to a sit-down restaurant or subject myself to "fast food seafood". Inside, you'll see a large menu of to-go food as well as a row of fresh fish for those who want to purchase fish to take home and cook. If you do not want sides, you can purchase the fresh fish and pay a per-pound fee for the staff to cook it. The menu is simple, and what you see (literally) is what you get- fish and a few side items. I ordered the 15-piece shrimp with fried okra. After ordering and paying, the worker asked me the make and color of my car. Customers wait in their cars since the restaurant has no seating. My food came quickly, and it was packaged in Styrofoam containers, with utensils, napkins, and requested sauces included. I liked that I could get honey mustard sauce because I prefer that over ketchup with fries. My shrimp were not too greasy, and the fried okra was hot and fresh. I couldn't finish it all. You get your money's worth here, so plan to share or come hungry. Just be careful entering and exiting the parking lot, as Savannah Hwy. traffic moves fast and you must drive down the road to make a left turn back toward Charleston.

You can buy seafood to take with you and they all served fried seafood to go. The softshell crab sandwiches didn't have a ton of flavor but for the price you really can't beat it. Served on white bread and comes with a side. We chose fries as our side. Great little place to pick up a quick fried seafood meal!

I love how they fire the shrimp at the last minute, so they don't sit in a heated soup for hours on end, becoming rubber bands. Next, I got the scallops with the saffron risotto. Yum! Girlfriend got the a snapper dish on a butter bean medley. She doesn't like Lima beans (which these actually appeared to be), so she ate around them, but she loved the fish! Service - 5 stars Our waiter was a nice gentleman named Tony. He was very friendly and helpful and timely with his service. Did a good job of helping my girlfriend navigate the wine menu (she's quite picky). They've actually got some aged white wines (Sauvignon blancs) that are quite different than what she normally drinks (she likes New Zealand varieties), so he steered her clear of them. Ambiance - 5 stars I found the interior of the place to be very inviting. Tall ceilings and modern architecture. A little on the loud side (we had a family with young kids nearby), but not bad. They actually have sound absorbing panels mounted on the ceiling, so you can tell they've given this element some thought. Finally, our table had a nice view of the kitchen and, as an avid personal chef, I really appreciate that aspect. Only odd thing (to me, at least) was that they sat us at a table right away (we arrived right at 5pm, which was when they opened), but told us that the bar seating was by reservation only. Odd...but maybe be the Kentucky Derby was coming on later that evening? In summary, I highly recommend this place and we will certainly be coming back!

I do not enjoy being negative, but I have to be honest. We ordered the hushpuppies as an appetizer - they were not even warm, they were dense, and basically at room temperature. Our table was a high top, pretty small, and very wobbly, so we were paranoid the whole time that something was going to fall off. I ordered the Volcano Roll, which is spicy tuna, cream cheese, avocado, and jalapeño with a couple of sauces on top. It didn't say it was fried, but I don't mind that. HOWEVER, it was a little tough to bite into. The biggest issue that I had was that the tuna inside the roll was essentially CANNED TUNA. It looked like cat food. I have never seen tuna like that in a sushi roll. It was honestly the worst sushi I have ever had and sushi from the grocery store is better. I know there have been plenty of good reviews, but I'm assuming nobody else ordered sushi. Based on this experience, I will not be returning.

So glad this jewel in the rough has returned to the restaurant scene!…read more Some of the biggest and most tender shrimp on a fried platter in town! And that pile of fries to boot! What an amazing price point for this delicious feast. The calamari didn't disappoint either. The hibachi was a solid choice and the chicken was tender but the steak was thin and overcooked for my taste, but we also weren't asked the temperature we preferred. The hibachi veggies were lightly sauteed and still had some crunch on them. The rice wasn't over seasoned and was nice and sticky. Glad the decor and vibes haven't changed. Classy with an attainable down to elEarth feel. Service was a little slower than I'm used to in the prior iteration but everything came out as ordered. Definitely will return and glad to have them back!
