    Fried shrimp dinner
    John F.

Stopped by Marvin's Seafood on a recent trip to South Carolina since it's conveniently located near the airport and we were short on time. Marvin's is strictly a takeout spot with no dine-in option--they serve cooked seafood to go alongside a small seafood market. I ordered the fried shrimp dinner, which came with about a dozen small to medium shrimp, two hush puppies, and sides of red rice and coleslaw. The shrimp were nicely seasoned and fried well--no complaints there--and the little pack of cocktail sauce was a decent touch. The red rice had good flavor and was the highlight of the sides, while the coleslaw was just okay and served in a very small portion. At $8.99, the meal was a solid value for what you get. It's not a spot I'd go out of my way for, but if you're in the area or heading to the airport, it's a quick and affordable seafood stop.

    Dozen cooked mixed crabs. Delicious!

I want to first state that I'm Asian. This plays such a big role because this mom and pop seafood shop is the hidden gem of Dorchester. The food is great, I wouldn't say it's the best in town but best bang for your buck for sure! Try everything if you can and rate it yourself. What I love about this spot is that it seems like a black owned business and down here in the low country, sometimes that means if you are an outsider, you won't get the love where if you were black. BUT MARVINS! The ladies working the fried food section treated me like I was their own child, you can feel the love and kindness through the sauces and words that were spoken. The gentlemen there treated me like family and was also very kind, polite and professional. You can tell this shop cares about its customers through their pricing! I got a dozen cooked crabs, crab cake, and size big pieces of fried fish for $36 bucks. Find a place that does better with this kind of customer service, YOU WONT. The place is a little run down but does not take away from its cleanliness and the foods integrity. You won't get sick as I have eaten and currently eating from there.

This establishment is very small and gets crowded quick. BUT that's for a good reason!! The cooked food is delicious and better than some of the seafood restaurants in town. You can get fresh seafood here throughout the week/weekend. The kitchen is open during the weekday only. Be aware that the fresh seafood is somewhat expensive depending on what you are purchasing. The reason for the four stars; they don't pick up the phone and transfer it to the kitchen. I was on hold for 30 minutes and when I arrived, there was no line. What's the point of having a phone line to the kitchen and nobody is going to take orders over the phone? On another note... if I were you I would still go try the food out! It's delicious!

Driving by Martin's yesterday my mom and I automatically added it to our list of spots to stop at. And we are so glad that we did! Marvin's is not the largest or prettiest spot, but it has amazing things going on inside. Upon walking in you are greeted by the scent of the sea. To the left is a line of people waiting for fresh seafood and to the right a line waiting for prepared fish and other items. My mom and I got in the prepared food line. She got the fish plate with rice and green beans and I got a side of green beans, a crab cake, and a hushpuppies. Everything was so good! The fish was fresh, green beans were pipping hot, and the hushpuppies were thick and warm! I wish I would have ordered a larger size of green beans as they were so good. The crab cake was thick and warm as well--the stuffing, omg!! I am sad that their kitchen is closed tomorrow The staff is also very nice as well. They are happy to answer questions and make the ordering process so easy! While waiting for our food I hopped in the fresh fish line. Unbeatable prices! I got a half a pound of scallops and a half pound of jumbo shrimp, cost me less than $10! A must go to when in Charleston!! Put this on your list now!

Marvin's is a hole in the wall. I've passed it so many times and didn't think twice about stopping. My boyfriend wanted to pick up oysters from here so we stopped by on a Saturday. There was a small line outside but it moved fairly quickly. Once inside, the line wraps in a U shape where you wait for someone to take your order. They have a wide selection of items--crabs, oysters, fish, alligator meat, octopus, frog legs, etc. They even have a nice variety of seasonings. The prices are reasonable. We ordered a party pack of oysters. We paid inside then drove to a freezer which is located across the parking lot where an employee loaded them in the car. There's also a small kitchen where you can order fried fish and shrimp plates.

Great Soft Shells at ridiculously low prices
    Steve M.

Great Soft Shells You can't cook this good this cheap! Soft Shell season had the wife and I adventure out to Marvin's seafood and we are ecstatic we did. Instead of paying 12-15 and even 25 dollars per order, we paid only $6.00 per order. I know Marvin's does a ton of business, but at these ridiculously low prices, you must wonder how they make any money. Although I prefer my Soft Shells a little crispier, they were of good size with a nice flavorful batter. The wife said the Green Beans were some of the best she ever had. We both thoroughly enjoyed Hush puppies which were hot and crispy on the outside, not an over cooked inside, with a slight but not overly sweet after taste. If there is anything, I would change it would be some sort of seating (even if a bench or two outside), otherwise we eat in the car, just so the fired items don't go soft sitting in the Styrofoam box.

    Fried crabs

They never miss with these fried crabs. Theeeee best in Charleston. Breading actually is like fried food and not "batter-y" or "doughy". Some other places have the batter like hush puppy thick. They actually CLEAN the crabs to perfection. If you want your fried crabs actually be "fried crabs" like if you were getting fried chicken-then this is the best place to get them from around here. Customer service is good with the ladies in the kitchen- I guess I'm a regular lol

This is a hole in the wall kinda place, and a hidden secret worth keeping. Infact, I almost felt guilt leaking this secret on Yelp, but if it's for the good of all fellow Yelpers, its something worth doing. The fish is the freshest I've seen in the US, the people are friendly, the service is efficient, and the prices are great!

Fresh local seafood at great prices. Went New Year's Day and enjoyed seeing the line out the door supporting this local business.

The fried shrimp was good and the green beans were awesome but everything else was old, hard and cold.

Useless place when it comes to oysters so much for seafood. Might be good for other seafood but not worth the visit

Walk upstairs and you will find a small store selling fish, containers of crab and shrimp dip, seasonings, fishing equipment, hand towels and t-shirts. While looking at fish over heard a conversation about crawfish wait what? Immediately asked the guy behind the counter about them. Knowing it is the beginning of crawfish season wasn't expecting much then asked to see one? This sucker was huge the price perfect now had to figure out how to get them home? Unfortunately Crosby's doesn't cook them for you. While there over hear a conversation about a fish "that was beautiful but was mis labeled and would have to change the price". Looking around the side of the counter got to see it, she wasn't wrong a gorgeous fish looking like tuna? While talking thinking no-one was listening over heard they were also going to have to change the price of the fish. Personally this scores huge points, you want to know what your buying and paying for. While waiting for your purchase take a look at the view outside on the water.
