I've lived just down the road from Fish Net for years and finally tried it. I was craving fried shrimp, but didn't want to go to a sit-down restaurant or subject myself to "fast food seafood". Inside, you'll see a large menu of to-go food as well as a row of fresh fish for those who want to purchase fish to take home and cook. If you do not want sides, you can purchase the fresh fish and pay a per-pound fee for the staff to cook it. The menu is simple, and what you see (literally) is what you get- fish and a few side items. I ordered the 15-piece shrimp with fried okra. After ordering and paying, the worker asked me the make and color of my car. Customers wait in their cars since the restaurant has no seating. My food came quickly, and it was packaged in Styrofoam containers, with utensils, napkins, and requested sauces included. I liked that I could get honey mustard sauce because I prefer that over ketchup with fries. My shrimp were not too greasy, and the fried okra was hot and fresh. I couldn't finish it all. You get your money's worth here, so plan to share or come hungry. Just be careful entering and exiting the parking lot, as Savannah Hwy. traffic moves fast and you must drive down the road to make a left turn back toward Charleston. read more

Heard they had soft shell crab sandwiches, so we thought we would try them out. The service was quick and friendly. You can buy seafood to take with you and they all served fried seafood to go. The softshell crab sandwiches didn't have a ton of flavor but for the price you really can't beat it. Served on white bread and comes with a side. We chose fries as our side. Great place to buy fresh or cooked fish. I bought a 3-piece whiting and 10 shrimp meal with fried okra as the side. We thought it was a pretty good meal, but maybe wouldn't get the 10 tiny shrimp again, sticking only with the fish. No point being put off by the looks of the place - it's an old converted gas station, and I've driven by it a hundred times not knowing it was an active business. It's takeout only, and after ordering you wait in your car for them to bring it out to you. I visited your location on June 21 and placed an order for 3 pieces of whiting fish and 10 pieces of shrimp. Unfortunately, I only received 2 pieces of fish. I called to report the issue, but the woman I spoke with was rude and dismissive, insisting that she gave me 3 pieces which was not true. I'm very disappointed with the poor customer service. This place is a hidden gem. Well, not so hidden, but rather unrecognizable. There's no flashy furniture outside and no blinking lights to get your attention as you pass. It was the full parking lot that demanded we stop and check it out. It's more like a fish market, and they cook all their orders to go. People were walking out with multiple orders of deep fried crab like it was free. We ordered fried oysters and an order of fried fish and shrimp. The order was ready in less than ten minutes and it was some of the best fried fish I ever had. We sat outside on the raised up used-to-be gas pump platforms and enjoyed our lunch with the locals. Decided to give this hole in the wall a try. It is not a restaurant but does cook to go seafood. I ordered the half pound shrimp with fries and a Jesus crab while my wife ordered the six oysters and shrimp with fries and a Jesus crab as well. Our shrimp was very fresh with a nice batter ranging from popcorn size to medium. My wife had to help me finish the shrimp since there were so many. Her oysters were cooked perfectly and a nice size and she said the best she has had in town. Both meals were $10.99 so a tremendous bargain. The fries were standard crinkle cut and while cooked fine lacked any spice or flavoring. The Jesus crab was a little small and mushy and too expensive at $2.79. If you are looking for fresh local inexpensive good seafood then this is the place. Their homemade cocktail sauce is delicious! read more

A small dive looking place that unless you knew how fresh the seafood is you would drive right by it. Scallops are big and fresh. Oysters are cooked perfectly. You can pick from the fresh caught fish on ice too. Everything is fried but the breading is light and they use peanut oil. I saw a hundred fried crabs go through really fast, served with flavored butter if u want it. I didn't love the crab cake but everything else was wonderful. This place is takeout only. On my way to Savannah and checked Yelp for a place to stop for a quick bite that wasn't a fast food burger. We stopped at Fishnet for some roadside seafood. It was Friday afternoon and we got there at the right time because they got pretty busy after I ordered. There's a full fresh fish market inside but there's a counter where you can order cooked food to go. There's no tables so don't plan on staying. We ate outside where the gas pumps used to be and then got back on the road. It looks like everyone gets off work and comes here with a six pack in hand to grab a meal. There's empty's everywhere and broken glass etc... they should make sure to clean up the parking area. We honestly wanted just a little something so we split a shrimp and oyster snack. I don't know who snacks like this, but for short money we got a styrofoam container full of delicious fried shrimp, crispy oysters, and crinkle fries. We ordered a jesus crab out of curiosity which was basically deviled crab stuffed back in the shell. I'm more about the seafood than the filler so I'll pass next time and stick with the fish. read more

A Dive, bad parking, right off Rt 17, on a turn. You need to know that since this is a local dive, the food is the best. Inside is basically a fish market with concrete floors, fresh fish behind counters, and 2 beautiful people cooking. Yes I said that. Tell them what you want from the board, they cook it fresh for you, bag it, and you take it home. Prices are to die for. 15 good size shrimp for about $7.00. Flounder at the same price. Fixings included with one or two sides depending on what you order. Take it from me, this place is not to write home about, they won't believe you. This is a fish market that also has a kitchen area for to-go orders. Hands down, this is my seafood go to place! Everything is of course fried, but who doesn't like a bit of fried fish? Be prepared to wait since it can get crowded. Also, be careful parking since they are hard to pull in and out of if you aren't watching what you're doing. The place looks kind of sketch inside and out, but you couldn't ask for more polite or genial people. Try the fried crabs (garlic hot!) and the flounder is so flakey and perfect. I've never had anything I didn't like there. For an up-charge, they will cook fish you purchase from the market side. The phone was set off the hook so we could hear them in the kitchen and they sounded busy, so at first I was patient. Waited for 12 minutes before deciding to hang up and call again, but they didn't notice because the only line was off the hook. Tried again until the total time was 25 minutes. I understand being busy, I've worked in food before, but I also know that you need to learn to prioritize things and not leave customers hanging. It would have taken 3 minutes at most to take an order and ring it up over the phone. This just turned me off from even wanting to go there. *update* just tried calling back for the heck of it. 40 minutes later, the phone is off the hook. If you don't like fried food, seafood or, more specifically, fried seafood, don't bother driving out to this roadside shack. However, if you do like all of the above, then this just might be the place for you. Nothing fancy: just honest food for a bargain price - it's a steal, really, if you go for what's on special. We rolled into this converted gas station right before the 6:25pm last-order deadline and made the ladies haul their Rubbermaid tubs of seafood out of the fridge for a last-minute fish fry. They were happy to oblige. It's not crab season, unfortunately, so we tried their special, FRIED WHITING ($1.79), which was crisp, moist, and perfectly seasoned (not too salty). I chomped right through the bones. The FRIED OYSTERS ($10.99/dozen) were fresh, plump and not overcooked. Fish Net is a dirt-cheap, no-nonsense fried seafood joint. This was my brother's favorite place in Charleston, and let me just say that we ate damn well in Charleston. We hit up all the tourist hot spots--Fig, Cru Cafe, Husk, but it was this little gem--this little old gas station dive that stole the show. We dropped by late one morning for a quick snack before lunch, and we immediately regretted it. We attempted to order light--a pound of fried shrimp and 4 fried soft shelled crabs, but trust me, if had we not been limited by the prospect of lunch in an hour, I probably would have gone in for a second pound of shrimp and another 4 soft shelled crabs. Actually, scratch the probably. The crab was so delicately fried, and excuse my language here, but the innards were so incredibly sweet! It was practically oozing out--it really was a beautiful sight. The shrimp, on the other hand, were such delightful little poppers. They were everything you'd want, expect, and hope fried shrimp would be--crunchy, but still plump, juicy, and satisfying. If you're looking for some fried seafood and a genuine and honest taste of the South, give Fish Net Seafood a shot! It's a bargain and an absolute gem! P.S. soft shelled crabs are not always in season, so I'd suggest calling in beforehand if you have particular items in mind! The cleaning station closes Monday thru Friday at 545 and Saturday at 530... You may still come in up to 630 to purchase crabs oysters and raw seafood but we will no longer clean it after the time stated... We have fried crabs 2.00 each live blue crabs come off the boat at 12 1230. Local clusters are 49.99 a bushel half 28. Singles are 80lbs for 105. 40lbs for 55. and 10lbs for 17.99!!! We were tourists leaving Charleston from South FL. I'm originally from NC, my wife is from GA, so we know real food. FL is surprisingly difficult to find great food, so I love visiting the "real south". Saw a fried chicken joint on the way out, and figured I'd stop. Then I check Yelp, it had 3.5 reviews. Luckily, directly behind me was Fish Net. I checked out Yelp, decided it was necessary for me to at least go check it out. This was the BEST seafood I've had in years, and now have this place bookmarked for future reference. This is a must stop hole in the wall. I would change my order a little bit next time, but I am not complaining one bit about my choice. I got 3 fried crabs, and the fish and oyster snack meal with a large sweet tea. The fish and oysters were delicious, but next time I would switch it to shrimp and oysters. The fried crabs were delicious and fun, but crabs are just too much work for me with little reward.
