Decent selection but on the pricier side. Good if you need something in a pinch but not where I would do my basic shopping.

First off, the sign out front has been changed to match what this store is in the process of becoming: Lowes Foods. In the process because construction can be seen here, there, and lots of places inside. But you do get a great idea of what this place will become when you walk around looking for things and you see an immense selection of dog food and an immense selection of bottled wine. KJ's Market is the low end subsidiary of Lowes Foods. With this location on Johns Island where unfortunately there is only a Food Lion, and at this large intersection with loads of traffic both local and right on the road toward Kiawah and Seabrook Island, and you can imagine the reason for the intense upgrading. read more

It's good to have them nearby in a pinch, but the store is very outdated and prices are high. I am so excited for Lowe's to come in, remodel and offer competitive pricing. Most of the staff is also staying, which I enjoyed hearing. They are always very kind and friendly! read more

KJs market is located on Johns Island. Definitely has a laid-back vibe and smaller than some of the big grocery chains. I like supporting our local markets. You will find beachy/tourist type merchandise like sun umbrellas, chairs, hats, t-shirts, boogie boards, etc. They also have a wide assortment of fishing bait. They sell liquor, baked goods, deli items, health & beauty items, and groceries. The cashiers and managers are very friendly and work hard to please customers. They locally source their eggs and meat, so I like that. I recommend that you stop in to KJs for the home town experience. You won't be disappointed. It's one of my favorite places to shop. read more

The best selling point for KJ's Market is the location. It is one of the only large grocery options on Johns Island, but if you have other options, we do recommend. As an IGA, we were surprised at the high prices and lower than expected quality, especially fresh produce. The store is somewhat clean and on two occasions, we were approached inside by homeless. Overall, our concerns were around price, cleanliness and freshness. It is a big grocery store, so you will be fine on selection. read more

Must be entirely new management because my trip for a few items today was actually pleasant! The store was clean, well stocked, there was a much better selection of fresh seafood and wine than in the past - and the employees were very helpful. read more

This place is needed for its location- there are many things that you can say negatively about it versus larger more well funded grocery chains but this market serves a purpose If not for kj s there are many less fortunate that would be placed in hardship to find groceries I commend the company for being there for the community as there are many with limited mobility or transportation read more

Worst store on the planet! Please eliminate this horrible establishment and bring in Harris Teeter or Publix!!! Shelves always empty. Only one register open (every time I come in) and employees walking around doing nothing! read more

I think one of my least favorite grocery stores to shop at. I honestly only come here because it is the closest to my house. I've never had a pleasant experience at the register checking out. They are very under staffed as well. Pros i do have to say, it's wine and beer section isn't terrible, and they sell some local items in the grocery area. KJ's Market - Johns Island on Maybank Highway on Johns Island is a quality grocery store experience that is conveniently located when you are in the area and need everything on your grocery list. They have a really good selection of different items at really good values compared to some other grocery stores in the area and I have been impressed each time I have been here. I like the produce section here the most. The staff here is very attentive and makes sure that you have everything you need to have a good grocer experience. read more

This is the worst grocery store I have ever been in in my life. Mismanaged understaffed organized over priced and just overall disgusting.

KJ's Market is awful. They must have the worst produce in the tri-county area. I guess they're going for cheap--and they have plenty of inexpensive items--but the selection and service are poor. Avoid this if possible; drive to Food Lion (River x Maybank) or Harris Teeter (Freshfields) for a better option on Johns Island. read more

KJs is the worst grocery store in John's Island. The prices are high and the merchandise is horrible. Old wilted produce every time I go in. Management is horrible and cashiers are rude. Please close it down and open a Harris teeter. read more

When this location was a Bi-lo it was mediocre at best. You could usually find decent produce if you looked hard enough and the prices were not completely unreasonable although still too high considering the lack of quality and selection. When it reopened as KJs Market we were so excited for a much needed transformation in this convenient shopping location. Bottom line is that it still sucks. Opportunity wasted, all they did was change the sign and not much else. We would rather drive 30+ minutes to shop and than stop here. read more
