A group of friends and I were planning a lunch date at Heyday. I called ahead to ask some questions about some of the menu items because I have an extremely limited diet right now. After reviewing the items with Francis she asked if anything would work for me. Nothing did but I told her I would still go and join my friends. Second time coming to The Heyday and it's worth shouting out! I first came here when they opened up and I love how cozy it is! They have a nice patio to bring your dog and a fire pit to light during the evening. They also have cute little shops surrounding it to pop in and find some great goodies. Right when I walked in I was greeted by the friendly staff! Heyday is locked in what seems to be a new neighborhood. I stopped by to grab a to-go lunch while working on John's Island. The inside is clean and very open, and I saw outdoor seating too. I ordered at the counter Andy food was ready quickly. I got the Italian ceasar sandwich and it was great! I especially enjoyed the Steak skewers. Each item.was beautifully presented with a side.and fresh herbs. The service was friendly and attentive. The menu is smaller and focused. Others ordered the honey roasted beets and the country ham, for sharing. It's just a little different than a typical restaurant - you walk in and order at the counter, then take your seat and wait for food delivery. Don't sit and expect a waiter to take your order. Not as problem, just be prepared. On a Friday evening most seats were filled, and we found it to be fairly noisy and hard to eat your table mates. Got the chance to grab takeout from The HeyDay. Super cute decor and setup with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered a few dishes to try. The confit chicken was a little dry for confit and definitely lacked flavor, but obviously the parm orzo saved the day there. The sirloin and lion's mane skewers were perfectly medium and super tasty. The salad accompanying it was a little weird, limp, and unnecessary. Service was poor, felt more like we were bothering the young lady that waited on us. Then the other young lady started waiting on my husband when his drink was empty. I didn't eat there, my friend had a small bowl of shrimp salad, wasn't impressed. My friend asked the first young lady what do you suggest? The young lady said the salads are really good lol. My hubby had the fish sandwich said it was OK. They don't beat you up on the bill so that wasn't a problem. We just didn't feel like they wanted to wait on us. Across from the library and nestled in a in process new home development. The crownuts are fantastic and wonderfully layered. They brew second state coffee beans which is a positive for me. Going to the Heyday on Johns Island is like going to lunch at your friend's beach house. The vibe is super casual with a nice beachy decor. Tables are spaced nicely so it doesn't feel cramped. They have a nice back porch area with trees and a fire pit. I have read in previous posts that they do counter ordering, but this was not the case when we went as we were seated at given menus. We ordered cocktails which were very reasonable at $10 a piece. I had the Peach Old fashioned which was bursting with peach flavor without being too sweet. My wife got the Tequila Mule which was bubbly and refreshing with a nice spicy tajin rim. We started with a Chocolate Hazelnut Cronut which sprinkled with powdered sugar and topped with a strawberry. It was nice and flakey and was devoured quickly. Next up our favorite item we ordered, the Jalapeno Cornbread muffins with peach butter. They arrived nice and warm and soft. The peach butter was the star as you could see small bits of peaches mixed in. Next, we tried the Sea Salt potatoes with a horseradish remoulade which was nice and tart and tangy. They disappeared quickly as well. I ordered their play on steak and eggs with the steak being a steak skewer. The steak was nice and tender with a nice earthiness from the chimichurri sauce. An over easy egg rested atop a root vegetable hash with beets, sweet potatoes, asparagus, and peppers. My wife enjoyed the Local Shrimp Croissant. The croissant as well as all the other baked goods are made in house. The dill creme fraiche mixed well with the nice chunks of shrimp. It came with potato salad which was not listed on the menu. We thought all the food was creative and tasted very good! I am however grading them down a point as service was scattered and not very attentive. Also serving warm tap water is a downer. read more

My husband and I visited my daughter the week before Easter. On the way to the Tea Plantation we stopped here for a bite to eat. The food here is amazing. I had the frittata, OMG, the egg was like a custard. It had asparagus, very thin sliced potatoes and goat cheese with a small salad on top, delicious. The beet dish was great. They Heyday is really cute inside. We were excited to try their food as we had heard good things but were pretty disappointed. Two of us got the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a brioche bun and one of us got the grits and greens. The grits and greens were very good but the bacon, egg, and cheese was very disappointing. The sandwich was pretty small and the bun was more like a regular hamburger bun not a true brioche bun. There were two small slices of bacon on the sandwich which was overcooked and tasted burned. The service was slow and they forgot a few of our requests. It wasn't very busy when we visited. We mentioned our disappointment in the food before we left and they apologized but didn't offer any solution. Would not recommend The Heyday when there are so many better places on Johns Island. read more
