Love this spot. Lets be honest, iykyk. Food is always on point. Putting aside any place that "smokes" their wings, LDOB, prolly has some of the best wings in town...FO SHO. Pizza's are always on point too, and they offer a really good gluten free crust, something you dont always see (damn you glutens). Never had a bad meal here. Staff has always been friendly and spot on. Service, from my experiences, never an issue. Cheesesteak, burger, and pizza specials weekly, as well as wine specials. This place sneakly has some of the best grub on james island, if not the best. Yes you might get a lil dive bar vibe, but hey, you will get past that. Always a good time. Amazing food and service! The nachos were amazing! The pork is slow cooked I'm almost positive. So tender! There's also a habanero glaze that just spices up the nachos perfectly. The Low Down Oven & Bar is a great spot on James Island! They always have great deals on different days of the week, including 1/2 off burgers, 1/2 off pizza, and 1/2 off wine. Keep an eye out for their fun events, including trivia nights. I will definitely go back and try more items from their menu, but I highly recommend the BYO pizza, buffalo chicken pizza, any of their burgers, and don't miss their pasta salad side dish. Three of us shared a few apps. Started with the Blue Chips. Great choice. Chips were fresh and crispy and flavor was excellent. This one is a must try. Meatballs were good, parmigiana was a bit sharp for me but the garlic toast was perfect. Mozzarella on the meatballs would have been better but if you like the parm, it's worth a try. For dinner I had the London Broil Steak sandwich. Roast beef was tender, lean and delicious. It came on perfectly toasted sour dough bread. Absolutely worth a try. The bartender was friendly and made a perfect bloody mary. Several flat screens to watch your favorite team in a beqch bar style atmosphere. I saw two giant rats run into the kitchen from the bar and I've never gone back for food since. This is Charleston, I know there are rats around here and they get into things, but seeing it just turned my stomach and I can't bring myself to eat from there ever again. I visited the Lowdown Oven and Bar with a fellow political volunteer who lives on James Island. It was Thursday, and she was hungry, so she wanted one of the half price burgers. I got the caesar salad because I wasn't very hungry and was trying to "detox" from a week of debaucherous eating on a cruise ship. The dressing makes a Caesar salad, and this one was no exception- the flavor balance was spot on. I tried a few of my dining partner's fries, and they were good as well. The fries are the shoestring variety and remind me of old-school McDonalds fries. I don't eat burgers or beef, but my friend inhaled hers. Along with Thursday night half-price burgers, Lowdown has daily happy hour specials. I do wish they had a vegetarian option for burgers, and they do not serve seafood at all. That felt unusual for Charleston, but I suppose it's a good thing if someone in your party has an allergy, as there's zero risk of cross contamination. There is something about local Charleston restaurants. They put together unusual combinations that somehow taste more delicious than you expect. The smaller and more local the better. And this is great. Stopped off for brunch on my way to Folly Beach. Ordered the El Frittata. It is an unusual mixture of pesto, queso, pulled pork and spicy egg. And boy did it taste good. I could not stop eating it. My wife ordered the Pie made of three eggs soft baked, cheese, Roma tomatoes, bacon and more. (See the menu in my photos.) I am not sure what we were expecting. But, we were not expecting a pizza pie. Still, incredibly delicious. Come here. Eat where the tourists don't know to go. read more

We stopped in for an early dinner. They weren't busy and the service was good. We ordered a few beers and some wings to start. The wings were very good, the server gave us the option to have them tossed in the hot sauce or the sauce on the side! We ordered a pizza and a burger. The pizza crust was lite and thin, which is my favorite. Not overwhelming with sauce either. I really enjoyed the pizza, just wish it had alittle more garlic, but it was very good! I ordered the chicken pot pie which includes a salad. Think the salad was just going to be a mixed green salad, I was surprised the salad was a mixture of greens, apple dices, tomato dices, cucumber and shredded Parmesan cheese with a side of home made Italian dressing. The chicken pot pie was freshly made, piping hot and delicious. The crust was flaky and the filling was perfect filled with lots of chicken and the right amount of sauce to not make the pastry soggy. This is a very local spot. It is located on James Island. It has a huge outdoor patio and inside seating too. It runs amazing specials three days a week. I love when places run specials and have great customer service. So many restaurants cater to tourists. Not here-half price cheese steak, half price pizza and half price burgers make it a steal! This is a great little local restaurant/bar on the island. If offers indoor and outdoor seating and a huge parking lot that wraps around to both sides of the building. The last time I went, it was cold and there was no heated seating outside. There are a couple of long high top tables (family style/shared), large booths, and regular booths, in addition to sitting at the bar inside however. With all of this space, it still doesn't seem like enough seating when the place gets packed. And it gets pretty packed. And often. They offer deals and most of the locals like to take advantage of discounts. On Wednesday night for example, they have half price bottles of wine, and half off pizzas. The pizzas are personal size, but we usually can't eat it all in one sitting. I like to get the margherita and add bacon, or build my own. They have tvs inside and out so if you're trying to catch a game, this might be your spot. Staff are always friendly and helpful. There is only one bathroom for woman and one for men, so occasionally you have to wait. Plan ahead is all I have to say. There always seems to be an upbeat vibe and it can get a little noisy, so if you're looking for quiet, you might want to sit outside. You can also bring your dog if you're sitting outside so that's a win for a lot of people. No matter if you're meeting your best buddy or a huge group of friends, you're bound to have a great time. read more
