Whenever people ask me what my favorite coffee shops are in Dallas, this one ALWAYS tops the list. As much as I love other coffee shops too, this one is always a standout to me because of the quality and consistency of the drinks and skill that Harry brings as owner and barista to crafting each drink specially for each customer, and the fact that you can get such amazing coffee for such reasonable prices, sans tip(!!). Walking in here always brings a smile to my face. Because it's tucked away in a corner of a strip mall in Koreatown, I think it's a little less known, but I don't mind and consider it DFW's best-kept secret. No, this coffee shop doesn't have wifi, but that hasn't stopped me from coming a few times a month this entire last year, haha. Perfect for an evening study session! I got the flat green tea after seeing all the photos here on yelp (and I guess I'll be adding my own heh). At first I recoiled at the sharp bitter taste... and it took me too long to figure out that I needed to mix it and mess up the colorful layers. And then it was a little too sweet bc I had already mindlessly sipped half the bitter stuff. Next time I'll pay more attention to my drink, but I can still imagine just how good the flat green tea is (: (Edit: Went back and got it right this time... I thought mixing matcha and coffee would be strange, but the green part is so sweet it's not really matcha anymore.) Four stars instead of five because there was a fly that liked it there as much as I did /: I love how they played classical music (KUSC!) subtly in the background and that they really fit in a lot of tables without feeling too crowded. So about this gem of a coffee shop.Do you watch k-dramas? If so then you'll understand the ambiance. It isnt a huge shop, it's a super cozy and welcoming vibe. The jazz instrumentals in the background add the right amount of music without causing you to raise your voice when speaking. I highly recommend ordering an espresso. The beans are fresh and available for sell. I also order the hazelnut latte. It has the right amount of flavor while not being overly sweet. If you are planning to sit, opt for any of the flat coffee. They are only available when sitting in and the layers are distinct and super cute. Can you tell I'm a fan yet? Peridot is the new coffeeshop addition to the Komart complex on Royal Lane. Inside the interior is very modern and there's even one wall with print that says "Life is too short to drink bad coffee." I was attracted to the "green tea flat" on the menu which is pretty much a 7oz espresso shot. The bottom layer is green tea, middle is espresso, then it's all topped off with foam whole milk. I tasted the layers individually and recommend mixing it all together after tasting them all individually. The regular milk tea was very tasty, the boba was alright. The baristas were extremely friendly and I really enjoy the environment. You can definitely find a little nook somewhere in the shop to crack into and get your study on. I was happy i picked that spot as i normally go to the green mermaid place as I work there. But i was quite delighted i picked this place and will definitely make it my go to on my way to work. The WiFi always works great and it's a quiet atmosphere where you can take business calls. Owner is very friendly as well. If you have time, I suggest getting their pour overs. They even do iced! I'd read the reviews, trying to find a good coffee shop that isn't *the* bad coffee chain (SB). Lots of places serve coffee, but few of them well. This place is fantastic!!! The coffee is excellent! Just the right amount of sweet and bitter and richness on the first try! It's just a short drive from the southbound 35E Royal Lane exit. Easy off, and easy back on. Good coffee, easy access, what more could you ask for? I can't say much about the ambiance, as I went for the first time during this pandemic. The decor was lovely, and the quote, "Like is too short for bad coffee" is on *point*! It was very quiet, nice muted soft-jazzy music in the background. Came here after a great lunch and was a little sleepy, so I got an Americano and two lattes (one for my friend). Americano was decent enough, nothing crazy, but the lattes were perfect! They really keyed into the perfect ratio of milk to espresso-- they did not taste too watery, icey, sweet, or too bitter from the espresso. It was just an overall perfect balance in the latte, which is rare to find. My only complaint is that I wish they could have put some kind of notice that their "signature coffee" (the Peridot coffee) was a latte. We were visiting for the weekend and looking for a local stop for coffee and dessert. So glad this place popped up. This was our first experience at at coffee shop that had a Korean flair, and it was delightful. They have a wide variety of tea and bubble tea, as well as normal espresso drinks and coffee. I settled on a Peridot coffee (the namesake), and it was fantastic. It had just a touch of sweet, and the barista flambéed the top to finish it...outstanding! My wife had a vanilla latte that was also very good. (we would order half sweet next time ) Our daughter had a chocolate chip cookie that was average, and the baked goods selection was limited. But that being said, this place is well worth it just for the coffee, and for something a bit different. The atmosphere was simple with great lighting and perfect for conversation or studying. Getting to talk with the owner and hearing some of the story and the Korean distinctive was a great addition to our visit. We will definitely be back when we come through town. What a delightful cafe! We stopped in here for some caffeine after eating in a nearby restaurant and before picking up some groceries at Ko-Mart, as it's in the same plaza. The menu is impressive: they have not just a flat white, but "flat" all sorts of drinks, including a "flat green tea", which is made with both sweetened green tea and coffee. You can get hand poured (really good) coffee or espresso, or sweet lattes. I had an affogato (ice cream with espresso on top), which was delicious. And the prices are extremely reasonable, especially considering the quality, friendly staff, and excellent beverages - you'll pay less for drinks here than you will at Starbucks. Prices for coffee is more reasonable than other places and just as good! this is located in the central of old Ktown near a market. There is always one guy running it and I think its the owner so be patience. I need to go back for their matcha coffee. So far I've had vanilla latte or hazelnut latte, both were good and under $5. The Iced Peridot Coffee is so underrated!!! It is MY GO TO and will never disappoint. Order this if you like sweet and milky/creamy coffee drinks. Flat green tea is one of those drinks you would order once, post a cute IG or snapchat pic and move on. It's cute and picture friendly, but won't be one of my go to drinks here. It has a good but strong green tea (NOT matcha) taste. I decided to mix it with the coffee for the second half of my drink, and it was bomb! Ambience can be mixed since it can get busy at times, but majority of the time it has been nice and calm. You can get a good study session here. Lastly, the barista is SO FRIENDLY. I've only been here once and it was a quick visit, but I can see this becoming a go-to for me! I love supporting local small businesses, especially when they are as friendly and quick at the employees were here. They had a large menu with a lot of excellent options, and they made my order very quickly. The location is easy to find and convenient to get to and the prices were totally reasonable. Consider bringing some cash - if you are like me you rarely carry cash anymore, but being a small business they had a sign asking customers to consider using cash for small purchases. Also when I paid for my order with my card I wasn't given an option to add a tip (which I always do!) but bc I didn't have cash I wasn't able to.
