I kept driving by Base 6 and decided to give them a-go since I like HIIT classes and I workout better in group classes than alone. It's been almost a year since I've been going to Base 6. The classes offer a lot of variety. You are able to push yourself as much as you want or take it easy if you're having an off-day. I am probably one of the least coordinated people and I never feel embarrassed when the entire class is working out on their left side and I'm on my right b/c I can't follow direction. The coaches are very knowledgeable regarding the exercises and correct your form when needed. They also try to push me but know when to back off when I give them the stank eye. The class formats can sometimes be a little hard to follow, but the coaches offer great direction and explanation of the format. The owner, Brian, does a good job keeping the routine engaging and fun. There are always themed classes around the holidays and group challenges. There are familiar faces any time I show up to work out which makes you feel like a small part of a community. Even if you're afraid of HIIT- like classes, give them a shot, you may enjoy it.

The main points I'll address is ease of entrance and my experience with the facility. Ease of Entrance: I travel a lot for work and have found many gyms require you to come during staffed hours. M+M is great because I simply had to pay for my 10 visit pass online and received instructions on how to download an app which allows me Bluetooth into the building. This allows me to visit whenever best fits my schedule. The Facility: There is an olympic weightlifting section and a powerlifting section. I can only really comment on the powerlifting section as that is what I'm familiar with. The powerlifting section has 7 squat racks, 2 bench racks, and 4 deadlifts platforms. Additionally there is numerous accessory machines and dumbells. All plates are in kilos and they have several speciality bars. Aside from the extensive equipment, something I absolutely love is how clean and organized the facility is. It is SO easy to find what you need. There is so many thoughtful details in the place too such as cold towels in the fridge, unique recovery tools, etc. In short: Definitely a powerlifting gym worth going too!

It's a small walk from the hotel entrance in the next building over on the second floor. The gym itself is of great quality. It has a bit of every equipment you need. We're talking free weights, racks, weight machines, cardio equipment and a punching bag. The gym is pretty clean and there weren't too many people in there when I went, so it felt like a lot of the equipment was readily available to me. You can get a full workout there for any specific muscle group. The gym is also very clean. Towels are provided if you'd like to use them during or after a workout. There are also wipes to clean machines and weights after use. If you forgot to bring water, there's also a clean filtered water station available. If you prefer the tap water, that's also available too.

Best spin instructor!…read more Spin is one of the best overall workouts but, I had never been to one like this before! I needed a new challenge and when I saw who was teaching the spin class I jumped right in. The instructor said her name was Lara, and started playing her warm up music. . . I thought ~ Ah, yeah - This might be fun, she looks cute! Then the 1st song played. OMGosh! It got my heart rate up and she kept me there for the entire 60 minutes! This is not your typical boring spin class. Bring your 'A' game if you expect to keep pace with her! It's my new favorite work out. You'll see me there every Monday at 6:pm)

The workout itself is interesting using different resistance bands and something I've never tried before. I walked in for class and was hardly/not at all greeted by the instructor and not really introduced to the new workout style very well. I would say that instruction was subpar. I was told to follow the person next to me often, critiqued in my moves quite often and not told anything about what I was doing right. It seemed no matter what I did, I still wasn't doing it right and was not given much encouragement. Btw, I don't think the moves are rocket science either. Let me preface this part by saying I did go to bootcamp this weekend, which was WAYY harder than this class, and I was still recovering from that. I was not ready to give it my all this morning but ready to try. The instructor actually came up to me and said "you're obviously struggling, so just stick with the [lowest resistance] bands." Thanks for the encouragement, dude! (Sarcasm) I'd say I was pretty annoyed with his instruction style, repeating the same commands over and over again. He didn't really say anything positive to anyone. If you like encouragement, motivation, or positivity during your workouts, this is NOT the place to go. Honestly I didn't like the customer service provided (or lack thereof) from this first time drop in. No thank you for coming in and trying it out, no acknowledgement whatsoever.

Review update since last posting…read more I have been a member of HHP for over a year now and I have to admit, I really look forward to these workouts. I'm shocked, I know! If you, like me, have a "squirrel" type of attention span and need constant stimulation and variety, this is the workout for you. The routine changes every week and yes, it is on the high intensity side of group classes. You will sweat, probably enough to warrant the quick baby wipe down before heading back to work if you can't take a shower. There is a beginner learning phase, so be prepared and don't give up if you feel awkward in the first few classes. I believe that is why they offer the free intro week, so you can go several times before deciding if it's right for you. Some coordination is required but not necessary as you go at your own pace if that's what you need to do. No one is going to make fun of you (in person) j/k. 30 minutes of cardio and resistance training is really key here. You will burn a lot of calories, you will see results. I believe I lost 1% body fat without dieting the first month or so I started. Since then, I've lowered my body fat by 6% - sweet!! I go 2 or 3 times per week and it really feels great, I have more energy and my endurance is has improved considerably. I have recently been going to the DTC location and it's just as great there as well. Whichever location you choose, you'll definitely get your workout on!

I echo other people when I say this is a type of group fitness class I can get behind. I have tried Orangetheory and several other group training gyms but usually quite after a few months. Fitwall changes up the workouts every 3 weeks and every day of the week is different. I personally love Monday- Wednesday's as they are more strength based and I like being challenged and encouraged by the coaches to up the weights when capable from week 1 to week 3 of that workout. Speaking of the coaches they are great. I have taken classes with all and all our encouraging and pump you up to keep going. I can't hold myself very accountable without a coach and others in the room doing the workout too, so this place is great for that. If my neighbor is gonna run up and down the wall targeting I guess I'll do it too! During this Covid time Fitwall has been great with online videos, park outside workouts and inside workouts. Yes we currently have to wear masks inside but it just ups the challenge! The coaches and staff have been keeping the gym extra clean and only letting 9 people in and they clean everything between classes and have these solid (while a little goofy your first day) curtains up between stations. Check the pics of inside currently. I've certainly toned up in the last few months and looking forward to more!
