If I could give Performance Windows zero stars, I would. As clearly shown in the photos, my door is prominently marked with three "No Soliciting" signs. Despite this, the individual ignored all of them and rang my doorbell, causing my dogs to bark loudly and disrupting my workday. I am self-employed and work from home, where I handle ongoing phone calls with patients, insurance companies, and physicians. The signage is in place specifically to prevent these types of interruptions. When I pointed out the posted signs, the individual claimed he was not selling anything, which was untrue. I asked him to leave the property, and he refused to do so until I called 911. This behavior was unprofessional, disrespectful, and unacceptable.

Salesman looking right at our no soliciting sign right before he rang out bell.

Dylan from the "marketing department" rang our bell right after a long hard look at our No Soliciting sign. It's there for a reason, my husband works from home. My husband told him no several times and he kept it up, he just ended up shutting the door in his face. So not only was his day interrupted having to answer the door, he also has to get the dogs to calm down. Don't companies realize in 2025 how bad this looks? This could be the best company in Austin, but I'll never know because I'll never use them.

Oblivious to his surroundings, get looking at his phone the whole time.

As many others have posted, these dudes are aggressive or just dumb. We have a no soliciting sign posted on our door and nine times out of ten it works. One of our grandchildren stays with us on Friday and my wife made a sign for the door that explicitly explains that there is a "sleeping baby" in the house. She puts it up during naps. We also have two dogs that go bananas when someone knocks. This dude looked at both signs and then thought to himself that it was a good idea to knock on our door. Sum it up....dogs barking, baby awake and this dude stands there smiling wanting to sell me windows. I even asked him what made him knock on the door and he just gave me a "deer in the headlights look". Sheesh!

a jerk who i hope gets the flu

Guy came to the door and rang the doorbell ignoring our no soliciting sign. I have the flu and was waiting for a mobile doctor to come evaluate me because I'm THAT sick, so I answered the door thinking it was the doctor. Instead it's a window salesman, who refuses to stop pitching to me even after I said I have the flu and couldn't possibly understand whatever he was pitching. Nearly passed out getting back to the couch because I had saved up all my energy to get up to the door for the doctor and instead it was some a-hole who refused to leave when I asked politely and mentioned I had a contagious illness and kept me standing at the door confused trying to get rid of him.

This gentleman has been soliciting our neighborhood without a permit. I politely told him I wasn't interested, he proceeded to push and say "are there other houses in the neighborhood as beautiful as yours, I am only looking for two homes to do free windows on as a model". I asked him again about the permit, he started walking away, saying he has it, but refusing to show it. His supervisor Dakota was notified, twice. He said he wasn't able to reach the salesman. Neighbors on our neighborhood group say he is still walking around and ignoring no soliciting signs. I am actually in the market for new windows, started getting quotes, but based on the sketchy interaction today, this is not the company I will be considering.

We contacted Austin Pro Siding as part of a comprehensive siding replacement project, as our…read morefiberboard siding was end-of-life and starting to really have problems that would have only gotten worse. Along the way, we also discovered that we needed to have the roof replaced, and so put that in the mix for a bid as well. We contacted six different companies, each of which brought a particular set of strengths and challenges. We chose Austin Pro based on a combination of factors: personalized attention to our project, comprehensive estimate and explanation of each line item, and ability to get the project done on a timeline that worked for us. We chose to have the house re-sided with Hardie Plank, painted with Sherwin-Williams paint, and re-shingled the roof with GAF shingles. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the process of basically re-doing the entire house, especially when insurance companies come into play. To that end, everyone at Austin Pro was first rate. Before we even settled on a contractor, Paul, our project manager, walked me through the intricacies of the process, and spent probably more time than he wanted explaining how things would go, and what options we had. The bid was competitive, and the line-by-line items on the original bid made it easy to see what was going to be done, and what materials were going to be used. He was patient and courteous and flexible, and was also able to speak to us in a way that didn't make things even more confusing. Kevin was the siding project lead, and though we never met in person, I felt comfortable that he had our best interests at heart as he got the crew on site, working fast and efficiently to remove and replace the siding. He even called in the middle of the siding job to tell us that we didn't need something we thought we would, saving us money that we could then use for add-ons we didn't originally budget for. The siding install and siding paint was done beyond our initial expectations, with nice touches like window framing and utility box framing that I didn't even know we needed but now look perfect. We had the back door repainted as well as our front balcony and pillars, and the end result is fantastic. It really was done to the point where it looks like a brand new house, and not one built in the early 1990s. Paul was back on site for the roofing job, and the roofers did a great job removing and replacing the shingles and skylight with new materials, on a roof that is exceptionally steep and challenging. They had the entire project done in only two days, and it looks fantastic. Finally, Garrett came by to do the final walk-through and punch list check-off, and was a real pleasure to interact with. He fulfilled all the items on the list, at least the ones he could do on his own, and did so in a friendly, courteous, and extremely efficient manner. All in all, Austin Pro lived up to their name and to their reputation. It is possible to find a company that can do your big jobs for less, but I am not sure you could find one that could do it better. They stand by their work with a quality assurance guarantee, and while I don't intend to need it, it's great that it's there.

Our project manager, Nate, worked with us extensively to find the right options to fit our vision and budget. He patiently answered all our questions, offered his expertise, and checked in on the progress during and after installation. Both the window and siding crews were courteous and efficient and every last detail was addressed during our final walk through. We are loving the new look along with the temperature and sound regulation benefits! For reference, we also got quotes from Window World (slightly less expensive but not energy efficient certified), Titan Windows and Siding (significantly more expensive), and JP Construction (comparable on almost everything but not quite as proactive on follow up).

We had a couple of quotes from other places including HD and no-one compared in price! Also HD told us that we couldn't get the side sliding windows look that we loved about our old aluminum windows and had to get double hung because sliders wouldn't pass egress code. Not true! We decided to go with vinyl windows and a large 8 foot sliding door off our kitchen. Austin Retrofit worked with us and gave us exactly the look we wanted at a very affordable price compared to other outfits. As other posters have mentioned you do have to be patient because they get very busy in the summer. I would recommend getting the quote in the winter and scheduling right away so you're not left waiting too long. About the workmanship. They arrived on time and were very respectful of our home. They hung thick plastic to protect furniture and the rest of he home from dust and debris. They cleaned up after themselves impecably and I think our house was cleaner after they left than when they arrived. They even touched up the paint on our window frames and replaced some rotted out framing lumber without charging us any additional fees. Some places will make you get a different contractor all together to do any framing replacement. Also be wary of places that aren't willing to submit for a building permit. These days with the city of Austin becoming more and more rigid you really should go with a reputable business. They submitted our permit application (albeit a little late) and we just had our inspection today. We passed with flying colors. We love our new windows and I would recommend these guys to anyone needing a retrofit. They can do fancy high end as well as budget options to suit your needs.

21st Century Austin Painting Siding & Roofing

21st Century Austin Painting Siding & Roofing

I recently had 21st Century repaint the exterior of my house. You can find that review here as…read morewell. I'm writing a new one because this is a different project. After they finished painting my house, a few weeks later after heavy rains I noticed a stain on the ceiling of a guest bedroom. I knew immediately it was the long nagging problem of the "dead valley" along my roof. The house was designed and built according to the architect's drawings to have the roof of the first floor bedroom run into the siding of the house. It was a short "run" and rainfall should go quickly into the gutters. But, this was built under a big, old oak tree and for many years, I've had leaves and twigs built up, damming up the water. If I can remember it, I have to get up on a ladder with a rake and rake the leaves away from where the shingles meet the siding. After one major hailstorm, I had the roof replaced and when they replacing it, I asked them to build something to reduce the leave/branch damming. They did build it, but apparently not big enough. It lasted probably 14-15 years until this recent Spring. Since I had a good experience with 21st Century, I called them out to give me a bid on repairing what was probably rotted trim and exposed flashing and other rot elsewhere. And while they were at it, I asked them to build me a better diverter away from the siding. They came out and took care of it in a day. The guy was there from 8:30 to 5:00, taking a break for lunch, but got it done. Since they were also the painters, they asked me for the leftover paint they left for me (for touch-up) that came in handy as they had to replace the rotten trim and as it turned out a section of the roof decking. Attached are the pictures they took for the bid and then afterwards when they were complete. They were detailed enough to ask me first, "hey, this diversion we're putting in is a lighter grey then your shingles. Are you okay with that? We can go back and get darker materials". I said that was fine. No one can see that part of the roof and so it was trivial to me. The only negative thing from the painting and the roofing experience is so minor it's not worth taking away a star is that there will be a gap between when you sign and return the contract and they contact you about scheduling the actual work. In both cases, I had to drop them a line to remind them I was in the queue. Being a service that can't work when it's raining, I can understand that they have days where scheduled work is delayed and that causes a snowball effect of delays.
