Adam was recommended by Vince Hunt, and I am very happy with Adams service! He diffently knows what he is doing, reasonable price. Honest and friendly. His services are great! Worth coming to this shop! read more

Our 1977 Chevy Pickup needed the biannual smog completed. Adam was amazing. He was able to set up an appointment for the truck, was ready upon my scheduled arrival and was very friendly. Adam was able to trouble shot my truck because it would not start. The alternator went out and Adam was able to jump start truck so that I could get it to a repair shop. He went out of his way to help me with my stranded truck. After I had the alternator replaced, Adam was able to get me right in and he did not hesitate making it work with his busy schedule. Adam was able to test the smog system and after it passed he was able to get the smog certification sent over to DMV asap. I want to recommend this amazing business! Thank you Adam for your outstanding service! read more

Made appointment, friendly folks, took care of business, on my way.

Where do I start? There are so many good things to say about Performance Smog. one of the few honest mechanics out there. He always tries to see us as soon as he can. he gives us feedback so we can make our own choices. we are always pleased with the work. we have NEVER had any issues with the work. We have 3vehicles. Adam and his crew keep all three of them in tiptop shape. we can't thank you enough Adam. you will always be the mechanic for us. read more

Second time here and I will continue to bring my business here whenever the DMV insists. The gentlemen who helps me is always friendly and helpful. I always call ahead and make appointments if I need to. I'm usually pressed for time so I try to be prepared, as to avoid scheduling delays. My car always passes smog and I'm in and out in well under an hour. Last visit I borrowed a pen, did homework, and watched a pretty interesting episode of Dr. Oz on dementia. All around good experience. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. read more

Easiest smog I have ever had. In and out within 15 minutes and no fuss on the DMV paperwork. Would recommend to anyone on the north or west side of Hwy 99. read more

Performance Smog - Performance Smog - Small shop, great service - Auto Repair Near Me - Modesto, California

You simply could not ask for a better person to care for your car! My family has been coming to Adam for over 15 years with everything from smog checks to engine replacements. He treats everyone like family and absolutely everyone needs to have a mechanic in their family. I wish more than five stars were possible because I would fill the screen with them if I could! read more

Wonderful service. Adam knows what he's talking about. He's knowledgeable, honest, and a true professional. I've taken all of my vehicles to him and have never had a repeat issue. In fact, two weeks ago my engine kept acting as if it wanted to take off on me even when I was trying to break. I took it to an auto repair shop by my job since it was conveniently located (in walking distance). The guy told me my car needed over $1600.00 worth of work. I freaked out, and started looking for new vehicles. My husband told me, "Let's just take it to Adam and see what he says." So we did. You'll never believe what he found. Yup, the floor mat was pushed under the throttle, pushing the throttle down constantly. That's exactly why my car was trying to take off on me! It's really quite humorous, but seriously... thank the Lord I did not fork over $1600 to the idiot that never thought to check the small details. Of course, this whole situation wasn't good for my husbands ego either. But he's not a mechanic so he's forgiven. Long story short. Go here. You'll be taken care of and not ripped off. read more

We've used this company a few times and have always been very pleased with our services and work that's been performed. We will continue use smog performance in the future when needed. read more

Excellent experience with Performance Smog. In and out without any issues or hold ups.

After going to a shop in Sacramento and being exceedingly unhappy with the work, I decided to go back to Performance Smog, though its 90 minutes away from where I live now. I'd been to Performance Smog two times since my last review and they've done first-rate work, not only with my smog check, but doing necessary repairs. They explain things well, have reasonable rates, and have always been exceptionally friendly and honest. So... if I'm still residing in Sacramento when I get the notice of my next mandatory smog check, I'm driving to Modesto yet again and getting the work done at Performance Smog. Worth the drive knowing I'll get things done correctly. read more

Wouldn't take my car to anyone else for my smog test. Adam always takes care of our cars. He is very nice and the job performed is thorough. read more

I have been having my vehicles smog checked for a few years at Performance and am very happy with them. this year we had to have a diagnostic done to find out why the "Check Engine" light was coming on. Turned out it was the cat converter, which they replaced. Another mechanic was going to charge us over $1000. Performance only charge $60 for the diagnostic and $60 for the part replacement. Our vehicle passed smog - yay! Honest, friendly, fair and efficient - that's how I would describe them. read more

Been coming here for about 3 years now and I've smogged about 15 vehicles with Adam. Really straight forward guy and extremely honest. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for quality read more

It's tough finding a place to take your car when you're a girl that knows nothing about cars. I went to several places with my car before I found this place. I read the Yelp reviews and I'm happy to report they are spot on. Adam is honest, friendly and efficient. He got my car smogged and had me in the road within minutes. I didn't catch the receptionists name but she was great too. I highly recommend and I'll definitely be back! read more

We always get our vehicles smog-tested here. They are busy for a reason, they're good! Make an appointment, if you feel they're pricey, then print the coupon offered on their website. To me it's worth it because they're fast, efficient, and professional. They always tell me how my vehicle's emission numbers look and what might need to be addressed in the future. Very knowledgeable and helpful! read more

I can't thank Adam more for his outstanding service. I've taken my car to him for 6 years, and have always been happy with the work performed. This year, the old car (1995) stubbornly refused to pass, after passing with flying colors two years ago. Adam went above and beyond trying to diagnose the problem. After diagnostic work and lots of stress, it finally passed. I highly recommend this shop. read more

Adam does a great job! Very thorough about the cars I bring to him. He's very honest. Nice waiting room with a/c and tv

First, I have to say how surprised I am that no one has written a review about this shop before mine! Well I would like to share with you my story: I, like many of you, fell victim to the "10 year law" on my car and was required to go to a "test only" smog station, which I did randomly without researching first. Sadly, my car "failed." I contacted the number that was given to me to request a list of Gold Shield Smog Repair Stations that I can take my car to for repairs. The number of stations that was on that list was so overwhelming, I figured the best thing to do was research them first on Yelp.com. One star, bad reviews - two stars, more bad reviews - no stars, unknown? scary stuff! Fortunately, through word of mouth, I ran across someone out here in the bay area that use to work at Performance Smog, and I went off of his recommendation. I WAS SO GLAD I DID!! I cannot say enough great things about this place, beginning with the BEST customer service I have received in such a VERY long time. Adam was not only pleasant on the phone, he was also above and beyond helpful with advice and walked me through the entire process. The 02 sensor was replaced, and my car passed with flying colors! So, if you ever had a doubt before on where to take your car to have it smogged, I hope reading my review has helped you decide. Thanks again Adam! Dawn read more

I contacted Adam based on a reference and good reviews. I was extremely disappointed. He never provided a written estimate as requested and promised. He was very unresponsive to my inquiries. I was only able to leave voicemail & did not get a return phone call for over one week. I had to abandon my plans and incur costs and extreme inconvenience as a result. I needed to get the work done & did not receive an estimate or return call from Adam, so I had to find other provider. I gave up on Adam and Performance Smog, went elsewhere, received excellent service and had a great experience. If considering Performance Smog, for your own benefit you may want to do the same. Buyer be wary :~( Best of Luck! :~) read more

Adam is awesome. I bought an old truck that I couldn't get to pass smog. Granted I knew it needed a lot of work so I took it to performance. Adam the owner agreed to take on the project but told me in advance he gets very busy and could only work on it when he had time. I didn't need the truck for a few weeks anyways so I agreed. He called me several times to explain where he was at with it and how much. After two weeks I got my truck back with a passed smog and a tiny bill. The truck runs way better also. Thanks Adam!! I will always use performance smog from now on!! read more

My family have taken all our vehicles here for many years. The staff is very good and good at explaining things. I wanted to put on a Flowmaster exhaust on my truck and they were very helpful with which modifications were California legal and being able to pass smog with an aftermarket exhaust.
