First, I make specialty paint for airplanes as a living. I'm the guy who can spot used cars that "never had an accident" due to the repaint not being flawless. So when I started getting quotes for my repaint, I was pretty much accepting that my baby would be scarred for life and never look the same. You see, the reason it's easy for us car enthusiasts to see when even a good repaint fails the mark is because of something called "haze". Even if we hit the impossible on matching the gloss, surface texture, and specialty effects like mica or flake, but you miss the haze, then it's noticeable to us. As a note, the haze is a measure of how "true" or "rich" the color is once it's all cured. Is it cloudy or do the colors pop out at you kinda thing. I wanted to repaint a door and rear quarter. What's worse, it was the driver's side. So I'm seeing it every time I get in. My issue: I have a gorgeous Tesla with a high-end factory paint job that had a metallic flake effect. Pretty much an impossible ask to begin with; and then toss in that it was for someone proud of their car like me. But let me tell ya, it came out flawless! Hell, they even matched the flake and peel effects. No idea how. All with the lowest of three bids. Lastly, this Rudy fellow is the real deal. Great staff, but he himself called me the evening I dropped off the car. He understood I was going to be a tough customer to please, but there was something about him. He was confident and that's what made me choose RP. So if you need the impossible, don't even mess with the other quotes. This is my place from here on.

I didn't hear a knock, doorbell, call or text or even an email so when it turned 12 noon, I called the corporate office and the guy on the phone said he's would call the shop to call me. The shop runs all calls through the Huntington Beach office. A woman with a slight accent reached out (I didn't catch her name) and said that my appointment was rescheduled. I told her that I didn't even get a notice that my appointment was moved or it wouldn't be possible today. She proceeded to tell me that the glass was not going to be available until Monday so that's why the man on the phone said 9/1 would be ok. I asked her "what man" and she said don't you have a man or a husband at your home? And I told her that the only person picking up the phone would be me. I do have a husband but he left for work at 7am so there would be no way he would pick up a call. Then she started telling me that the reason it was rescheduled was because the person on the phone said he's an uber driver and needs the car asap. I told her that I'm not an uber driver and don't have any call records of her calling me from this number. She was completely flabbergasted and said omg and hung up the phone. I was trying to tell her that my appointment was canceled for no reason and I've been up since 6:30 and not going anywhere knowing my time slot was between 8-12. She kept talking over me and wouldn't let me explain. My feeling is that the shop, whether it was her or someone else in the shop got the information mixed up and mixed the clients up between myself and another person. At no point did she apologize for the inconvenience but doubled down that I was completely wrong. What a great way to treat customers.

Recently had body work done on my 1970 mustang's trunk, and while the overall body restoration and…read morecolor match turned out great, I was really disappointed with the paint job. and reassembly work. When I went to put gas in the car for the first time, I discovered that the gas cap had been forced and glued on -- apparently with wet paint, no gasket and missing screws. I had no choice but to damage the surrounding paint just to open it. Also, one of clamps on gas tank neck was completely loose, just hanging there. In addition, there are several small paint bubbles in a few spots, which really take away from what could have been an excellent finish. The craftsmanship on the bodywork itself was good, but whoever handled the painting and reassembly clearly rushed the job. If the gasket had been damaged or lost, they could have told me. We could have ordered a replacement or done something temporary to prevent damage--the gasket only cost $11. Update - gas tub neck was installed incorrectly as well. Gas cap got stuck again and I had destroy the it to get the gas cap off.
