Went in to buy jerseys, helmets, gloves, and goggles. Getting out a brand new motorcycle that we purchased a couple of weeks ago. Tried to get help in the helmet department then he said he had to take a phone call he never would come back to us. So we moved on to other places, ended up in the goggles section where we found a paragles that would fit over prescription eyeglasses. There was a service person standing there entire time playing on his phone watching us. When we asked him for help he said I don't know to every question. When we asked him which one of the boxes went with a pair of goggles we were holding he said I don't know. Then he continued to tell us that we couldn't get what we wanted. Ended up back in the helmet department where we told the guy you're not being very helpful to which he just laughed and said have a nice day. Went up to the checkout stand voice to them are issues and we're told the same thing well we hope you have a better day. Well, we hope you do too. This kind of service bleeds cash. And trust me we will be spending our money elsewhere. read more

I've never ridden a dirt bike, but I just bought one and needed nearly every piece of equipment, oil, etc. One of the employees walked me to every part of the dirt section talking about brands, quality level, and specific pieces of equipment. It made my time there very easy. When it came to oil and cleaner, an employee at the parts desk walked me through the same. They spent a ton of time and had plenty of selection for a noob. We came to the store for some new tires to be put on rims. While we were waiting, hubby and I perused the helmet selection. With some minor issues with ours - fogging, a little too snug, scratches on the face shields - I thought we'd be spending gobs of money for 2 new street bike helmets. Yikes! Internally grousing over the price, but realizing our noggins were certainly worth the cost of full-face helmets - a smiling face came over to ask if he could answer any questions. Not wanting to share my negativity, but needing to process the enormous selection, I noticed hubby asking questions. I wandered off to look at other stuff, thinking how much this trip was gonna cost us. Circling back around after a bit, hubby had a slight grin. This could only be terrific news. This place has some nice looking cashiers but that's about the best thing they have going. It seems that most employees here are not very knowledgeable. The place is more about fashion than function. Like another reviewer here, I ride an older bike. An employee suggested to me today that I superglue the grips on because they would outlast the bike. Another time I called to find a valve for my forks and was told to come on in and that they had what I needed. When I arrived the people had no clue what I was talking about. This is a great place to shop if you need a $300 Gortex jacket or a helmet with a skull on it. If you need parts or knowledge, go elsewhere. read more

I'm a total newbie to riding/haven't really started yet, and she instantly greeted me and took me around to different gear options for over an hour explaining the pros/cons of different levels in quality and shared her stories of personal experience with gear she has purchased. I'm currently overseas and have been trying to figure out how to get a pair of Wolfman soft panniers over to Kenya. I finally found someone in NY who was willing to mule them over here for me, but had some credit card issues while placing the order, as well as a rapidly-approaching delivery deadlines, as his flight was already booked. The folks at Performance Cycle were very helpful with my situation and prompt with me through phone and email, enabling me to order the bags in time. Every time I visit the store I have a wonderful experience. They have the largest selection of gear for both street and dirt bikes. They also have a good selection of everyday apparel. They also have all of the basics a bike would need like oil and tires etc. I would say they are priced very well, they're usually the same as the discounted websites in price, but instead you wouldn't have to wait for your stuff to arrive. Really great local,shop with a big selection. You just don't see much of this anymore and I'm certainly willing to spend a little extra to support an independent retail mc business. Compared to visiting most dealers, Performance Cycle is way ahead: lots of sales reps who are always willing and usually knowledgeable, big big selection (love that they have Wolfman luggage for instance) and a tire service that is at a great price. It is nice to have a local shop that carries some of what you need. It is a good shop, but hardly a great shop. They don't carry a lot of higher end gear, more the middle range in most categories. The staff is friendly for the most part, but not terribly knowledgable and turn over for many of them is high. I do like the fact that we do have a local shop, and it is a place I try before looking toward the dealers or online, but it is often hit or miss as to whether they actually have what I am looking for. Prices are average and inline with other dealerships in the area. Not as good as online, but I don't mind giving them the money whenever I can. I'm certainly not a high-roller, at least not yet...lol. Nonetheless, from the first day that I went in there and spent just $35, they gave me top-level service. I could not be happier or more impressed with how committed they are to taking care of their customers. They have done extensive research for me to find parts, and one of the owners actually personally took on a special need I had with a fork oil change and went so far above and beyond normal service. And, best yet...the staff members that I met all ride! I'm very new to riding myself, so I had hundreds of basic questions and they were good with answering every one and helping me find the right product for my need, every time. I have probably been there at least 18 more times since my first visit...and that was about 7 months ago. I never once felt like I was 'sized-up' based on my wallet capacity, and I never once felt 'up-sold'. My only complaint is that they don't sell or fix bikes, and sometimes you can't get dealership parts from them because they aren't a dealership. I say that in jest, its not an actual complaint...I'm just saying I wish the level of service and personal care that they offer was available to me in the moto buying/fixing experience. I recommend anybody to give them a fair shot, nothing like doing business local. One true test of quality is time, and I believe they have been around since the early 80's...that ought to speak for itself. read more

Amazing. I was at home in Kansas City, surfing for a motorcycle vest and landed on the site of Performance Cycle. A chat agent popped up and asked if I needed help. Dubious, I asked if it was a real person on the other end, and was assured it was. I asked for the measurement of the vest from neck to waist, and within a few minutes, he gave me the answer. We were heading to Denver in a couple of weeks anyway, so rather than risk ordering online and the vest not fitting, I opted to wait and make a visit to the store. Everyone was so nice, the selection was great, and they were able to special order a jacket that caught my eye, which came in before we had to head back to KC. I go to Performance because its convenient and is also open on Monday. The sales staff is always helpful and attentive without being pushy. The cashier girls seem a little cranky to me, but most girls are cranky by default anyway, so whatever. Prices are mostly fair. I can usually get the same stock at Motorcycle Superstore online about for 10 to 15% less, but if I need something today, I can go to Performance and get it. They have a lot of stock and you can spend a good hour looking around. A great variety of street,sport and dirt gear. They would do well to have a real service department. They will change tires off the bike and I don't mind taking my calipers or chain off, but a lot of riders don't have the tools or experience to take wheels off their bikes and bring them in. But if you need something for your bike and don't feel like wading through 40 salesmen trying to sell you a beat up Ninja to get to the parts dept at Fay Myers, then go to Performance. read more

This is a great shop. We are talking locally and family owned, no big corporate nonsense here. I don't think any other store carries as much as they do, unless you count the internet as a store and then you will never be satisfied with any retailer. They seriously have the best and biggest collection of dirt and street wear that I have ever seen. They are always very friendly and willing to help get you sized correctly in anything they carry, and they carry a LOT of stuff. Ladies this is a great place to get your street and dirt gear, they carry the major lines and all available sizes; AND they have women riders in store who can offer you advice! If you are looking for parts the day of your ride you might be out of luck. They do have a lot of commonly asked for stuff but with the huge number of bikes out there it would seem almost impossible for them to carry everything so PLAN AHEAD for your ride. They can order anything you want and have it delivered to your house, although some of the older stuff can be tricky so just ask and they will let you know. And if you've never been to their sale you HAVE TO GO!! There aren't enough good things to say about it except for one bad thing, if you get to the sale late you probably won't get what you are looking for. I look forward to it every year and I know a lot of other people do too. All you have to do is sign up in the store to get their fliers and then you won't miss out. the thing about this store is, yes they have a bunch of stuff discounted, so if price is your deal then ok. But I can read, and they hire high school students that basically tell you what they have read on the internet. I prefer more real life experiences, like how and why the product is good or not good, and why they would recommend it or not. All other shops in the metro area have actual riders that you can have a good riding conversation with. So I would rather pay a $ or two more for intelligent conversation and motorcycle passion. And I got to witness the owner berate one of his employees, a young high school girl on a Saturday to the point she started crying and walked out on them and quit. I just bought a dirt bike, don't know much about them. I went here to get some riding gear and the staff was awesome. They gave me a bunch of information so I could make an informed decision. They didn't push me to the most expensive stuff, but explained why it is more and also offered me some options that were now "old" (last years models). I bought a helmet and will be back to buy a lot more stuff in the season to come. It has a warehouse feel, with stock out on the sales floor so you can see if they have items in your size rather than waiting for someone to go check in the back. Great experience. I drove up here from Colorado Springs today. I know the middle of November in Colorado, to good to be true, right? But yep it was gorgeous. Anyway I found Performance Cycle by googling motorcycle stores Denver and they popped up with a 4.7 rating in Google review, so I figured I would give them a try. Great decision on my part. Friendly helpful knowledgable staff. I met the owner and he was very helpful as well. We have a few shops here in town but this place is at least five times the size of any of the stores here. It is because of this that I was able to find a Ram mount for my BMW and they were also able to order parts for my bike, at a fraction of what the dealership charges. I spent at least 2 maybe three hours up there. I am going back on Black Friday for an ARAI helmet. Don, Casy, Evan and the owners son and daughter were great. It is more than worth the hour ride from COS. You can find this stuff online but the prices are the same in the store and you get to ask a human as many questions as you want without being thrown out of the store. lol.I asked a lot of questions. I found Performance Cycle kind of accidentally while researching some gear online, and was impressed with their pricing. I went down yesterday to check out some riding gear. I was greeted by Ray, and I explained what I was looking for and my budget. He spent well over an hour with me explaining the ins and outs of the pants and helmets I tried on, and was as helpful as could be. I was impressed, too, that the pants and helmet that I bought were both cheaper here than my normal online source (Amazon). I had never been to Performance Cycle until their Grand Opening this month. What an experience! So many vendors were on-site to answer questions and giving out great freebies. I purchased a pair of riding shoes, took them home, and they didn't fit very well. Brought them back. I didn't have the box because I left it there due to being on my bike. They allowed me to return them without the box, which is against their policy. Great customer service. Very nice that you can purchase riding gear that you see on line for the same price locally. Awesome place. Super friendly staff and super nice showroom. We are from Houston, Tx and we were at Thunder Valley MX for the Loretta Lynn's Regionals. My son forgot our extra handlebars at home and of course he crashed and bent his bars. I called Performance Cycle Saturday about 3:00 to see if they would have anyone coming out to Thunder Valley. They said yes and ended up having the bars and grips we wanted in stock. I paid over the phone and the owner brought them to me at the track that evening. After my very first visit and a fantastic Roland Sands leather jacket purchase about a week ago, I made the trip back to Performance from Colorado Springs, not once, but twice. Both times were for more shopping and feeling like a kid in a huge candy store. Still finding that nothing has changed, huge inventory, parts, accessories and new products everywhere. I still have not seen everything. And, also unchanged - the Staff has exceptional customer service skills and terrific product knowledge. Too bad other stores cannot copy this model.
