I'm playing a show in Burbank this weekend and needed a couple things and chose Perfect Circuit because they are located close to the venue. Their in store pickup is also very convenient. When I entered the store this afternoon to pick up my order I was ignored by the staff except for sidelong glances. The person who eventually helped me was rude and asked to see my ID like I was attempting to steal the two inexpensive and very esoteric items I had ordered. I felt that my business was not appreciated or wanted. My experience in this store today left me with a very bad impression and I will not return. read more

Disappointed with the service here. Twice I've visited to grab a synth that was listed as available on their website and hour later I store they say they have none. This is just delivered as a blunt statement nobody saying we will have some in stock again soon etc no suggesting maybe some alternatives. Staff just then went back to bickering with each other about whose turn for a break it was and whose busting whose balls etc etc. this was the same experience both times. Not sure many places would just ignore a customer with 2k on the hip and a synth buying addiction open to seeing what's on offer but Instead left the store and ordered items online instead. Really wanted to like the place but staff need some training or just even basic manners would suffice. 2 stars are for cos I want places like this to be around as it's important to try out a synth before dropping thousands on it and they were stocked with many great pieces and store was well laid out with the ability to try many different synths, modular gear etc etc read more

Awesome place, amazing selection and one of the few places you can try rare gear. My only complaint is I returned something in perfect condition and still got a 15% restocking fee. I understand that's the policy but it seemed uneccessary and was a bit of a turn off. I've bought several things from them over the years, I wasn't taking advantage or anything. This place is by far the worst I have ever encountered. I placed an order and was contacted by one of the staff members to verify my purchase. I was asked very strange questions like what landmarks I live around, the nearest freeway, the color of my building. I felt interrogated and uncomfortable. They then asked me to share links to my social media and personal profiles. I've worked in entertainment for 20 years and never had to verify an order like that. Mind you, I ordered ONE thing and was told due to it being high in price and my first order. Ummm, your entire store is highly priced aside from cables. Great job on that. I was told I would have my order by end of day because it was a download and everything was ok. I spoke with my bank to make sure this company did in fact charge me and they said yes and they called to verify. Here we are at the next day, and I still have nothing. No email, no phone call and no download. They claim they need to do this to avoid fraud, but it seems that they are doing this for all orders. Even the small ones. A friend of mine placed an order for ONLY two cables. They held his order, asked him weird questions and they didn't ship his cables out for 3 days. CABLES. Not a machine. Not hardware. It took them several days to ship 2 cables. Did I mention he paid for GUARANTEED NEXT DAY shipping AND delivery? This company has very weird practices and they aren't reliable. I heard great things about their prices and inventory, but their customer service is terrible. They have no fraud department, it's basically a guy named Danny and a lady named Lisa who have to ask the owner/manager for permission to approve an online order. They try hard to be professional, but they're a small company and they treat everyone as if they're committing fraud. My advice....do NOT order online from this store. It's WORTHLESS. Oh and don't be out of state or they will grill you harder. They're located in Burbank, California and apparently if you don't live near there, your order will look "fraudulent" and they will not approve it and they will ask you to find a friend to come in store or they will TRY and send a PayPal link. How is a company I'm making a purchase from, have the right to ask me for social media links and personal profile links to verify anything? I'm definitely reporting this to the BBB, FTC AND CFPB. Perfect Circuit's online experience is fantastic. The first time I visited the showroom, I was a little taken back how the staff did not engage me when I entered, but I quickly came to appreciate their no-pressure approach as you can play in their vast showroom of synth geek toys for as long add you'd like. This place is super chill and the staff is very knowledgeable - you just need to approach them first with any questions you may have. I'm gonna shill for perfect circuit right now and just go ahead and say that they're the best synth/accessory retailer in the greater LA area, hands down. Just a heads up for anyone ordering online, I try and help them out by ordering directly from their site instead of eBay, reverb, etc. it ships so fast when you go straight to them for the order. Perfect Circuit has an amazing selection of gear and I've had good experiences ordering online. On the other hand, every time I visit the store I leave feeling a little bit worse about myself. This place has the worst vibe of any music retailer I've ever visited. Super uncomfortable and awkward. Today I arrived at PC intending to hear and buy some monitor speakers. As we park I mention to my partner that "last time I was here 3 years ago I left after 5 minutes because it was super awkward in there". Anyway I walk in and there are no other customers, just 2 employees sitting up the end at their computers. I approach to tell them I'm interested in monitors, and ask if I could listen to a couple of the models they have on display. The excuses begin! "Not really, it would take a while to set up... We don't have an audio interface... we don't usually do that". Eventually I convince them by stating the obvious: "what if I told you I would potentially purchase some speakers from you today if I can at least hear them before buying?". Finally the guy gets up and grabs a monitor off the wall of speakers (sitting above the cabinet of audio interfaces), it takes him less than a minute to plug it into a synth and leaves me to it. We spend a few minutes testing this speaker and awkwardly asked if we could compare it with another. At no point did either of the employees make any attempt to provide any helpful information about the products we were testing. It can be nice to left to your own devices and not hassled, but this was more like they just didn't want to talk to us. Luckily I already knew what I was looking for, but I can't imagine anyone feeling comfortable asking for advice here. Ultimately it was fine and I ended up buying some great speakers, but why did it feel like we were such a burden? I've spent at least a couple of thousand dollars at this store over the years and both times I visited I felt incredibly unwelcome. Many customers of a store like this are going to have cash to spend on gear over many years, so it's kind of unbelievable how little they seem to care about retaining them! read more

After having to acquaint myself with their selection I found what I was looking for, a Modor synth for my boss. I asked for a demo and was told to watch a video about the unit. I had already done that. The two dudes acted like they didn't want to be there. I inquired on price and availability. Neither dude acknowledged me until finally one took his nose out of his phone and said he would "look it up". He disappeared for ten minutes. Finally comes back and quoted me price for wrong model. No apology for his mistake. Didn't even offer to find the correct price! I ended up purchasing direct from the Modor. Never again. Oh, and parking is terrible. read more

Words cannot express how impressed with this shop I am. I rang a buzzer to be let in and as soon as my feet landed past the front door I was left in awe. The space is clean, well organized, and loaded with gear out and ready for testing. From modulars, groove stations, drum machines, pedals, pro audio gear, and synths they have plethora of equipment that would make any synth nerd weep. On top of that the staff was very polite, helpful, and friendly. The shop isn't that big but I spent 3 hours wandering around from station to station. I walked out feeling highly satisfied with the whole experience. This shop has set the bar for my synth shopping experience. It's a shame it is so far from my home in northern California. Avoid this place at all costs for repairs, used items with a repair warranty, and "refurbished" gear. I took my pristine 1985 Alpha Juno-1 synthesizer in to have the RAM battery changed. This is well known to be a particularly tight job. So the battery ranges from .75 cents to $3 depending on where you source it. At perfect circuit they charged me $14 for what is just a watch battery. The owner Brad told me that it would take around half an hour to change the battery but they had to bill the full hour. These jerks billed me for an hour and a half. Now the worse part. The "tech" totally screwed my gear, and put it back together wrong. My pitch bend lever is dragging on the machine now. To add insult to injury they didn't even bother loading up all the factory sounds in the second bank. They just put the same sounds in twice. Not a huge deal, but it's the details that matter. I ended up paying $120 to have my synthesizer in need of repair somewhere else. I am done with this place. read more

This is so crazy! I'm giving two stars because they at least have someone answering I guess. But omg, wtf. I thought I was the only person who felt they asked strange questions when verifying! Some lady named Lisa called me and was asking for landmarks, she asked the color of my building, she asked the number on the back of my bank card and asked what color it was and who issued the card to me. It took her like, 2 days and their "fraud team" to complete my order. They already had my money so wtf? Lol. It was kind of unsettling and definitely makes you feel like a criminal. Like, all I'm doing is getting a keyboard lady lol! Like, I get security and all that, but asking these strange questions is not a good look for the company. They're treating everyone like criminals based on many reviews across the internet and it seems the questions are getting more personal, which is definitely a privacy issue for anyone. I'm wondering, did anyone else get told to provide links to social media accounts and any link to accounts involved with music? It seems like they will only approve your order if you have an active social media that shows your passion for music (which is unethical and insane LMAO). I'm impressed. Very straight forward. Great guys and great service. I picked up a rare vintage synthesizer off of them and they gave me a fantastic price. After a while one of the components inside started going out and it started acting funny. These guys insisted that they either give me a full refund or fix it for me, my choice, free of charge, shipping included. This thing is 50lbs, huge, and I'm on the East coast. I deal a lot in old synths and I know that they're happily spending a lot of money to make me satisfied with this deal. Great shop as far as gear goes. Nice showroom and plenty of very cool synths, etc. The staff seem fairly nice and informative while you are there and potentially buying stuff, but they are not particularly helpful or interested when following up with questions or soliciting additional information to make an informed buying decision for, say, a modular system. I was in the shop for over an hour with a staff person, but when I emailed a few days later with some specific questions, he didn't bother to return my email and really didn't have the time or inclination to work with me when I followed up by phone. Pretty much the same situation as any retailer; they're not really interested unless you are buying something right then. Not what I expected from a shop with their level of expertise and reputation. Turns out synth nerds are no different than any other sales person. Seems like they would rather be somewhere else.
