This is exactly what we did as we went through a lot of violin tutors for our daughter. When it came time to get our son into guitar lessons we tried a few places. Having Jason lead a video instruction was like having a daily personal lesson (a cost prohibitive scenario if we had to do it in person). We were sold. Then when our son got to Fly Away, it got harder and he got frustrated. We had spent a week on the starter video for this song and I encouraged him to try the next video. He fought me but eventually acquiesced. Jason's video began with words of encouragement and a message of understanding that the finger work was getting more difficult and Jason empathized with the students as they might be getting frustrated. I was blown away. The level of expertise that this showed us was the price of admission for sure. I've taken lessons at Guitar Ninjas for 4 years now and absolutely LOVE IT! The system is engineered for success in a way that I've not really seen from another music education center. It all starts with the online practice portal. I've taken piano lessons in the past where I'd have the lesson and then forget parts of what was taught. At Guitar Ninjas, you can actually go on the portal and watch the lesson as many times as you want (HUGE for practice!!), practice the song at different speeds, and learn valuable techniques along the way. The portal is also your go-to spot for rescheduling lessons (all done online through just a few clicks). Next, let's talk structure. The school is set up like a karate dojo where you learn songs and earn colored picks along the way. I bought a guitar during quarantine and decided I wanted to learn how to play it and heard so many people learned with YouTube sessions - so that's where I started. I never played any instrument and the YouTube lessons were very overwhelming and I didn't progress much. I was a bit frustrated, I didn't realize how hard it is to play the guitar! Jason Land is not only an amazing teacher and talented musician, but a great person. I have a special needs teenage granddaughter who wanted a guitar and lessons for her 13th birthday. I was hesitant to spend the money, because she has a tendency to lose interest very quickly. This was not the case with her guitar lessons. She has taken lessons for almost a year and I am amazed at her ability.to learn so quickly. Jason is one of those people who has a gift. He is dedicated to his students and you can tell he loves what he does. His approach to teaching is unique. His students have such a respect for him and what he is trying to teach them. It has been a such a joy to sit in on his lessons and watch him do his magic with the kids. My Granddaughter has never wanted to perform. She is very self conscious and insecure, but when Jason set up a concert, she not only went on stage but she was great, and I think she was surprised that she had such a good time. My daughter took an 8 week group lesson course and she was comfortable and happy with the class. I sat in on most of the lessons and was impressed with his teaching style and ability. His method teaches strong musicianship emphasizing timing and finger skills and he teaches them using songs they can play along with when practicing at different tempos.
