Ben and Sam were great. they know their products! I will definitely come back here to buy a sick guitar soon

This place is amazing. They have the coolest stuff and as if that wasn't enough, they have the nicest staff. They let my son plug in a guitar and play a little. Definitely recommend for those that are interested in music. read more

Some guitar stores sell instruments. Some actually take care of musicians. I bought a new guitar from LA Vintage Gear and the experience meant more than just walking out with an instrument. They held it for me, answered every question without ego, let me sit with it for over an hour, and even gave me a discount out of their own pocket because they knew I'm a working musician. They didn't have to do that. A month in, the guitar is unreal. I've spent time with late-30s and early-40s instruments, and what makes those special isn't just age -- it's the response, the dryness, the headroom, the way the notes stay clear when you lean into them. This guitar has that feeling. It's alive. It pushes back. It tells the truth when you play it. What really stands out is the value -- getting something that lives in that golden-era territory without paying absurd vintage prices or dealing with an 80-year-old instrument you're afraid to breathe on. There's a lot of hype around certain big-name shops in LA, especially when it comes to rare vintage pieces. But hype and integrity aren't the same thing. I've walked into places where prices are inflated and the attitude makes you feel like you have to prove yourself. This wasn't that. No condescension. No gatekeeping. Just people who care about tone and about the musicians walking through the door. Good instruments matter. But how you're treated matters just as much. Thank you LA Vintage Gear! read more

This little store is so great. It has a really nice vibe inside, it's exactly the type of shop I would want to support. I hope in the future I can buy a guitar from here! I got my 15 year old acoustic guitar fixed up so I can play it again after a long break from playing. Their staff is very knowledgeable and helpful if you have questions. If you're looking for vintage gear (which I honestly know nothing about) I imagine they'd be a great place to find what you're looking for based on the sheer amount of stuff they have packed inside. Parking on the street is easy but I guess they also have parking in the back. IMO the repair was worth what they charged and I would trust them with any guitars in the future. read more

I brought my lefty Nik Huber guitar to LA Vintage Gear for repair, I needed a pot replaced. It was an unusual wiring job due to a push/pull tone knob and the guitar tech went above and beyond, reaching out to Nik himself for a detailed wiring schematic to make sure that the job was done to perfection. It was~! Great store, cool staff, I'm a believer. Support your Local Merchants! read more

Great store and rad peeps!! Carry a lot of fiddles you won't see in most shops. Very friendly and accommodating

I recently sold a guitar through LA Vintage and it was both a comfortable and fruitful experience. Sam is super kind and attentive, nothing but good vibes and efficiency. They photographed and displayed the guitar beautifully on their Reverb page and it quickly gained traction and interest. It was really hard to leave the store, earnings in hand, without buying one of their amazing guitars on the wall. I'll be back for sure. read more

What a great selection of new and vintage guitars and amps. Everyone at LA Vintage Gear is knowledgeable and friendly. Tried out several, and went home with another excellent guitar. Highly recommend. Will be back! read more

The owner Clif was dismissive and unhelpful when I messaged to ask which store one of the guitars was at so I could buy it. I didn't remember seeing it at the location listed on the Reverb site when I was there, so I messaged to ask. This really annoyed him apparently and he told me to go back and read the post. When I called him on his rudeness, he took the time to look up my music and write me back to tell me he would rate it "C-" and that I would "never make it". I was about to buy a $3200 guitar! There is no reason to shop at this store and there are dozens of other places to check out guitars. Too bad because the other staff seemed great and the guitars are quite nice. read more

Very cool, very eclectic shop. Friendly staff, I'd drop in just to check out what weird stuff they have on the wall.

Great shop! The place has a really warm atmosphere. Nice selection of guitars, amps, pedals and accessories. Super friendly. Recommended

Friendliest staff- super knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. 100% recommend - I'll be back!

Greg was amazing and strung up my uke in a minute! Great neighborhood guitar shop with lots of guitars. I recommend checking out their shop!

Awesome shop with phenomenal merch as well. If you want top-notch, this is the place.

If you're looking for a fun, trustworthy guitar store with an amazing selection, this is the place to be! Clif and his staff are incredibly nice, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic, making it clear right away that you're dealing with people who truly know their stuff. It has a boutique atmosphere and a repair shop that is top notch. I recently picked up a vintage Fender Tweed amp at a great price and they also sold a vintage guitar on consignment for me - a seamless experience I wouldn't trust anyone else with. The store has a fantastic mix of new, used, and vintage guitars and amps, and it's been newly remodeled, creating a welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for trying out the instruments or just browsing. There are also pedals, drums, tubes and many other unique items and photographs that I haven't seen anywhere else. Clif and everyone there are not only agreeable and accommodating but also extremely honest, which is a rare find in the world of music gear. Whether you're shopping or just stopping by to play, this place offers great vibes and a real sense of community. Highly recommend! read more

love these guys - the best in LA as far as i'm concerned. they've done incredible repair work for me and my bandmates - as well as sold me some fine rare effect pedals and helped me match the best replacement speakers for an old cabinet i bought . read more

Clif is a great guy, and has a knowledgeable crew. Definitely the place to go for someone looking for serious gear.

A great shop for the best gear! Crew is top notch, too. Lots of variety to meet your tone demands.

Lots of cool guitar gear here. Cool people. Expensive stuff but sometimes the prices on used gear is better than I've found elsewhere.

I have known Clif for a few years, he is my only dealer for my amps. He has helped my business by giving me his take on the market, I have my head buried in amps, this helps me be competitive. Thank you for your support, Clif! read more

I wanted to buy a PRS today there so I tried to get their Dualist board set up and play through it. Once I nailed a tone I was sold on the PRS (and since the guy in store went out of his way to make sure I was aware he needed to leave to get lunch) I was planning on going to the bank to take out money to buy the PRS and also let the guy get his lunch. So I said how about this, I'll let you eat lunch and I'll come back after to play it the PRS a little more. Luckily he saved me trouble by saying "You've played for a long time already" (15 mins-all of which trying to get a tone) and "We don't really let people test gear here." Now I know not to walk into this spot with their fake SRV new "distressed" overpriced guitars hanging about. Do yourself a favor and bypass this spot, because unless you are Jimmy Page or Slash, you are probably unwelcome to try their axes or amps. read more

I would stay away from this busienss, First off the owner cliff is a horrible man, His attitude jumps the sky's his rude, Doesn't provide receipt unless you ask for it, when it's paid in cash! Great guitar shop and great service everything you need gear wise by very knowledgeable staff

Clif and his team run a great store- very friendly and welcoming. Great range of gear - some unique guitars! Can't wait to go back.

World class quality service support communication compassionate even and fast fast ship if that's what you need. A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ plus 2. Cliff went out of his way to quickly help me with the exact custom shop strat the year my wife and l met. She had a stroke and only a day of so left in hospice and I wanted so badly to name the guitar in her honor have a special memory to get through the grief. Anyhow, coolest thing was that it was equipped with the Abigail pups I love. More than that; it was the selfless way he went the above and beyond to go the extra mile. I was given five star celebrity treatment by him and his staff. My first purchase there but will look here first not just because of the quality of stuff but because of the world class service. This most assuredly is a one of a kind rare independent shop that is unlike any other out there coast to coast -- bar none. And, hey -- I live in Nashville, am super picky and have all kinds of grand pooba shops all over around here to choose from. Very rare indeed for me to leave a review. Also, it's just so hard to say what you mean sometimes; thanks a bunch! Jeffrey Bondlol p read more

Can't say enough about the care these guys have taken of me during my visits here, in Burbank and more recently at their new Studio City location. Bought a Cutthroat Audio, Down Brownie about a year ago and been back many times lately for the massive and incredible collection of tubes they received. Thoughtfully sorted, tested, and rated, I was able to find the best tubes I've ever used and got my amps sounding better than I knew they could. Ben and Joe did a killer job helping with the tubes and the owner, Cliff, kindly put me on the phone with the designer/builder of my amp. Love the selection of new and vintage gear they carry. Good people, pay them a visit read more

LA Vintage Gear is my favorite guitar place in Los Angeles hands down. Not only do they carry gear that nobody else in the area carries, but they are beyond accommodating and genuinely helpful. The first time I came into the shop was on a vintage gear crawl through LA. The vibe in this place is unlike any of the others. The shop itself is just so inviting and beautiful. I actually came to check it out specifically to try out Two Rock Amps. For whatever reason, I was drawn to the Benson Monarch Reverb. I'd never heard of them or seen them before but it just intrigued me. The guys in the shop plugged me in and handed me a nice Danocaster and just let me enjoy. I wound up bouncing back and forth between the Benson, Two Rock Studio Pro 35 (I think) and a bigger Two Rock just for fun. But that Monarch Reverb captivated me. Fast Forward to March as Covid took grips and I reached out to Clif and team about the Benson Amps. I told Clif what I was interested in and what my playing environment would be and he helped me settle my mind on the Monarch over the Vincent. Then he got it to me the very next day. Talk about service! I also reached out with random questions and he always responded. Then even more recently, I was on the quest for a special Martin Dreadnought. I checked a bunch of shops and on a whim, I checked LA Vintage Gear as well. I remembered seeing acoustics, just didn't pay them much attention when I went in previously. Turns out, they had a great used Martin Custom Shop D41 on the wall. I checked it out on a Saturday but didn't have money with me to close the deal. Messaged Clif the next day and he made special arrangements for me to go pick it up when they are usually closed. These guys are really amazing, carry amazing gear, stand by that gear b110 percent, and will go out of their way to make sure you are happy. It's not the biggest guitar shop in LA, but it's the most comfortable and definitely the coolest. read more

So I bought a Two Rock Amp from Clif. Nobody else in the country could get me what I wanted for at least 5-6 months. These guys deliver in a week. There was an issue with the speaker can I wanted, so to make sure I was happy they sent me a complimentary cab to hold me over until mine came in. Pretty stand up I'd say. Great service and easily acceptable. read more

Nice folks, awesome shop. Everything from vintage, artist-signed guitars to amps, drums, photos, and more for the guitar aficionado.

So Clif's Tech fixed it, no need to send it to anyone else. I won't post the exact bill that HE paid for, but I'm very thankful. Clif Jones is the real deal. Please consider doing business with LA Vintage Gear in the future. You can rest easy knowing your business is appreciated and respected. Thanks Clif ! lavintagegear.com read more

I was able to buy my husband an amazing Guitar from Clif! I don't know why all the bad reviews! The guitar was in great shape, it looks beautiful, and my husband loves it! I am so happy about my expensive purchase and very satisfied with the experience! Also I am not the biggest fan of Yelp bc I feel like people only read the stuff that is negative! Small businesses are hurting right now, keep that in mind when you post your crap reviews! This is literally another platform for people to bitch about stuff that can ruin businesses! read more
