I had the totally wrong idea of muffling the floor/kick drum. he put on a beautiful Remo Renaissance Diplomat batter head... drum sounded better than it ever has..also with his history of working with many famous drummers from Tony Williams to Metallica and Nirvana i highly recommend Ross to build, tune and fix any drum problems you may have... I bought a modified Gretsch bell brass Snare drum from Ross Garfield of the Drum Doctors. I've Been wanting a Tama bell brass but they are hard to find and would cost upwards of $10,000 - The modified Gretsch bell brass is as close to a Tama bell brass that I'm ever going to come without obtaining one of the originals. Ross's expertise and knowledge on drums is far superior to anybody I have ever known and he is a swell guy to boot very pleasant to talk to and very humbled And eager to share his knowledge with anybody willing to listen. I will forever be his fan!!!! So in closing I can't speak Highly enough about my experience with Ross Garfield of the Drum doctors! For years, I have wanted to change the finish on my vintage Tama Superstar kit. I started making some calls around the Country for prices. I live in Atlanta so I was hoping to find someone on the East Coast. Not many shops do this type of work and wasn't pleased with the conversations I had with them. Ross said, "I'll make whatever finish you want, send me a sample". Within a couple weeks he had a painted sample that looked great. Ross has worked with some of the best in the business so I had complete faith in my drums going across Country to him. He was quick to respond to my emails and he called me when he had questions about the kit. The kit was done in about 6 weeks. I came across the Drum Doctors because my regular drum techs at Drum City closed their shop. Ross is truly THE Drum Doctor. I had a DW Collector's snare that Ross worked on. Oh, what can I say about Ross and Drum Doctors. I used to record in Paris. The food was good and the Producer was fabulous. Ross is better. The guy can go Hi-Fi and in a minute switch to Lo-Fi. Scary how good Ross is. On top of everything he introduced me to my last couple of Engineers. Recording in Los Angeles can be a little tedious. Lets be perfectly clear. I'm very impressed with Ross' (Drum Doctor's) instincts. I already knew I would be from his reputation. We told him what we were looking for and he nailed everything. And, his excitement for what he does is contagious, it makes it that much more fun to work with him and his drums. He supplies everything with his kits, drum throne, kick pedal and a full bag of sticks brushes and mallets. Basically, everything one needs to lay down some bad ass sounding drums. We did two days of tracking with a beautiful vintage Gretsch kit. For our second day we requested last minute a percussion package, and he immediately accommodated. DRUM DOCTORS ROCKS!!! I was playing a show very last minute in Hollywood and needed drum hardware and cymbals to rent. I first contacted Guitar Center and they wanted 200$ to rent for a single night, typical GC BS. I kept searching on google and found Drum Doctors in Glendale.
