I genuinely cannot say enough wonderful things about Uncle Ed. As a mother of a child with autism, finding someone who genuinely understands and believes in your child is something you never take for granted. When I first enrolled Zac in piano lessons, my goal wasn't necessarily for him to learn how to play an instrument. I wanted to introduce him to music as a healthy outlet to help him regulate his emotions, particularly during moments of frustration when he struggles with self-injurious behaviors. I also hoped piano would help strengthen his fine motor skills, an area he has worked incredibly hard on. What I found in Uncle Ed was so much more than a piano teacher. He is someone who recognizes that every child learns differently and that progress isn't always measured by how well they can play a song. Sometimes, it's about patience and giving a child the opportunity to discover what they're capable of. As a parent of a child with special needs, you spend so much time advocating for your child, searching for opportunities, and hoping to find people who see beyond a diagnosis. Having someone who sees Zac for the wonderful little boy he is, rather than focusing on his challenges, means everything to me. Uncle Ed has become such a meaningful part of Zac's journey, and I am incredibly grateful for the encouragement, and care he brings into his lessons. If you're looking for someone who offers more than simply teaching piano, I wholeheartedly recommend Uncle Ed. Sometimes the greatest teachers are the ones who make a difference far beyond the instrument. read more

Five Star Music & Dance Academy - 2nd week with her friends! - Musical Instruments & Teachers Near Me - Glendale, California

Where do I even begin?! My daughter has been with Five Star Music & Dance Company for about 1 year and has grown leaps and bounds with her technique. She did piano with Edwin Galestian (fondly known as Uncle Ed) and private dance classes with Mrs. Ellenie Galestian (Ed's beautiful daughter). Please Google them! Both have an extensive and impressive repertoire. Five Star is not only a family-owned business, but each member is a musical master, in their own right. They treat all of their students like family and magically draw out the talent from all their clients in a fun-filled, but still structured environment. I can't thank them enough for introducing my daughter, Jade, to such an artistic world... read more

We're updating our review because we have been at the studio now for multiple years and do both dance and piano. We absolutely love Five Star Music and Dance. The teachers are SO good with the kids, and it's fun that they all have their own private music and dance careers too. They offer great advice and very personalized service to the students. It's a small studio with a family feel to it. Our daughter takes dance with Taya and Ellenie, and piano with Edwin. We've been blown away by how quickly she learns and improves in all of it. And the most important thing is that she really enjoys it and although she's challenged, she does not get discouraged and want to quit. I think this really speaks to the talent of the teachers. We highly recommend this studio for both music and dance. read more

My niece began dance lessons with Ellenie several weeks ago and it's been beyond rewarding! She looks forward to class, she's very engaged and loves putting on all the fun little outfits her teacher plans for her. I can't pretend to know what other teachers are like but I do know my niece and she's not the most comfortable person with most adults, but she absolutely adores Ellenie, so in my book, she qualifies for an amazing teacher. The environment is wholesome and family oriented, so if you're looking for someone to be more hands on with your child this is the place! It's one of those rare situations where you find quality expertise in a unique intimate setting which seems to be more rare these days. My niece has a recital coming up so we're very excited for that, and I just found out that Edwin, the owner, is an amazing piano teacher! My next move is to sign her up for piano lessons ! read more

My name is JA Williams and I am a film director. When looking for a location to produce my film (based on Racism) I stumbled upon Five Star Music Academy. This musical gem was more than just a location, it became a refuge for this production that evolved into a life long friendship. Edwin was the first person I met when walking into this atmosphere of musical excellence. I pitched the film to Edwin and upon listening intently (as he does so well), he offered FSMA location for free. He wanted to be a part of this creative journey. I was overwhelmed by his graciousness and still am to this day. A couple of days later he handed me his keys to Five Star and said "have a great shoot" and walked away. It's not what I saw in him that he did this, it's what he believed in me and my dream to make this world a better place. FSMA is that type of place, they believe in the passion of arts and creativity. They take the risk and stretch out to others because of their passion in inspiring generations and communities in the pursuit of the arts. The world will be a better place if those who pursued their passions were given a space to enhance creativity and FSMA provides that opportunity. Along with his daughter Ellenie and a host of support, FSMA continues to invest in creativity, passion, and arts in all forms. Thank you Edwin for your generous spirit, friendship, and a wonderful filming experience. You continue to make the world a musical place. Hope my film crew didn't break anything lol. read more

So fortunate to have found this gem of a music & dance school in our neighborhood! My daughter has had music instruction since she was 6 years old but it was not until she met Uncle Ed, her absolute favorite piano teacher, that her love of learning and playing music was born. He is a true professional who has been a lifetime musician and has a great love for teaching. He incorporates music theory in all his lessons, selects fun tunes that my daughter enjoys playing and gives her so much confidence and praise that she even dreams of composing her own music one day. She has been Uncle Ed's student for about 6 months and just played Beethoven's Für Elise at the annual Christmas Recital last weekend. Thank you, Five Star Music & Dance! By the way, Ellenie is an awesome dance teacher and we loved watching her wonderful production too. Much continued success to this amazing family of many talents! read more
