We decided on the their appetizer sampler just to get a feel for their food, and it wasn't a great feel. The wings were burnt, Maybe that's their "style" but it didn't work. They were so dry. The shrooms had too much breading and were also overcooked, thought at least not burnt. The mozzarella sticks were actually decent. The pretzels was good, but some awful beer cheese. I had two of their IPA's and I did enjoy those. Unfortunately not someplace I'd go back to unless someone assured me it was better

Indeed, if the cold North runs through you veins, you'll find house beer and mead aplenty to wet your whistle in an atmosphere that while housed in a modern shopping center, is still somehow appropos. Unfortunately, I had driving to do, so alcohol wasn't in the cards, but the menu appealed to us. We needed some comfort food, so we ended up with an appetizer sampler that included a baked pretzel, jalapeno poppers (instead of the fried ravioli that I guess they were out of), buffalo wings, and mozz sticks. We also got a pizza from the current specials, the spicy hawaiin. We like pineapple on pizza, and definitely prefer pepperoni to ham, and this also included jalapenos... so it sounded right up our alley. FYI, there are no waiters, you simply order at the bar, and they give you a numbered buzzer to pick up your food when ready. I greatly prefer this way of doing things honestly. For the food, honestly... a mixed bag, hence the one star off. The pretzel was great, probably the best of the bunch. Jalapeno poppers were nice and large, good flavor balance of cream cheese and jalapeno. Mozz sticks were mozz sticks. We didn't care for the wings. For one, they weren't tossed in the buffalo sauce, it was just poured over the top, and they also were a tad dry... maybe fried too long. The pizza was a letdown, especially since other reviews were so complimentary of it. The slices were very floppy, it maybe could have used a couple minutes more. The cheese had a nice flavor, but the sauce was not either of our preference. Could have used more pineapple, less jalapeno to balance the bites. Overall, we didn't finish it, and didn't take the leftovers for later. It could just be our personal tastes, so go and decide for yourself. Outside of food, it was trivia night, and people were having a great time. We would have taken part if we were staying longer. I think if I lived in the area, I would still come here, and just figure out what food items are the ones to get and which ones aren't. Great atmosphere, friendly bartender and people.

Our visit here was on a Thursday evening in July. We have been to this area several times, but never visited Old Armor until this trip. Typically, we find ourselves here in the mornings when it is not open. However, since we already had dinner and were looking for something else to do downtown at night, we stopped in for a drink. It appeared to be one of the few businesses open around 10 PM. As stated, this is located in the heart of downtown Kannapolis. There is street parking nearby, as well as parking garages. I do not believe Old Armor has their own dedicated parking lot. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this establishment is dog friendly! We had our dog with us, and were happy that he could come inside and join us. This was actually part of the reason we chose to visit here, since we could bring him inside with us. We actually saw a few other dogs in the building when we first got there. The ambiance here was quite lively during our visit. It was line dancing night, so the entire front of the place was cleared out and full of dancers both young and old. There were a lot of patrons when we visited, but not so many that it was overcrowded. It was darker with some accent lighting and disco balls, which perfectly fit the vibe for the evening. To the left of the front door was an area with tables and chairs for those not dancing. There were also some cocktail tables around, along with more tables in the rear, and outdoor seating. This is a large space, and would have plenty of room for any size party coming in. Several TVs that were playing various sporting events hung around the perimeter. The bar was located near the middle of the establishment. Due to the dancing, we took our beers outside and enjoyed them in the outdoor seating. It was a nice night, and the outdoor space is a good setup. There was a satellite bar setup out there, but it was not in operation the night we visited. The wait staff at the bar were very friendly and helpful when we were ordering. We were able to sample any of the beers on tap before committing to a glass. I ended up ordering the Red Leg Corn Lager, and my fiancé ordered the Mango Tango Bravo. I personally had never had a corn lager before, but it was nice and crisp, and something I really enjoyed! Something I really admired about this business was their commitment to the armed forces, police, fire, and other essential responders and personnel. They had a pay-it-forward board for them, along with nods to those groups in both the theming and the beer imagery. We very much enjoyed our first visit to Old Armor. The beers were good, the staff were friendly, the atmosphere was exciting and the patrons of the place were all very nice. This is a great spot in the heart of Kannapolis to enjoy a drink and take in the atmosphere of downtown. We will definitely be returning on our future trips to the area!

There was a beard competition in process when we arrived, so it was a but chaotic walking in because it was being held near the front entrance. Most of our group had the Charlotte Hornets Stinger Ale - $3 a can, but they had a large variety of beers. They are focused on honoring honor veterans and first responders , which is evident throughout place. They are located across from Kannapolis Cannon Ballers Atrium Health field. We ordered some food, which was a bit confusing at first. There is a kiosk in the corner, you place and pay for your order and you receive a text when it is ready. We split a Protein Bowl, which was better than we anticipated. It was packed with rice, lettuce and beans. It also had a significant amount grilled chicken drizzled with avocado lime crema. Everything was good and definitely worth stopping in.

Good vibes. On one side is where you order your food on the other side is where you can order alcoholic drinks. My group was consistent with the food being okay, nothing exciting. They all really enjoyed their drinks. As there was no actual door I was chilled while there, it was a rainy and cool night. The rest of my group wasn't bothered though. I saw groups, families with kids and couples. Everyone appeared to be having a great time. This was a good spot for us to meet with our group of 6 people. It was easy to find seating that accommodated all of us.

Towel City Tavern has two floors and is connected to the baseball stadium. Only the first floor was open during my visit. The Cabarrus Brewing Co. serving tanks are what you see as you enter. If you order a beer, it will be fresh as it comes directly from the tanks, as it is brewed on site. The restaurant's name pays homage to the city's textile roots and the towels made at the mills. The restaurant design also incorporated the town's history with Cannon Mills. The restaurant has an industrial feel with the open kitchen, high ceilings, concrete floors, exposed brickwork and steel structures. The tables were crafted from a 160-year-old tree that fell on the mill property. There were garage doors that likely opened during the games. They offer a $10 lunch special that includes a drink, side and entree. The $10 menu had a lot to select from: sandwiches, wraps, salads, wings, and a burger. I went with the All-American burger and fries. My burger was a good size, cooked to order and tasted great. The fries were really good, too. Service was great and attentive too. I was even offered a tea to go. My waiter got me in and out of the restaurant fast so I could get to the Music Hall of Fame on time. I did stop at the mural again on my way back to the car. Parking was free in the street spots and no time limits. Although I am not sure about the rules on game days/nights. With my favorite mural on the building, I have a feeling I will be back again to try more menu items and maybe see a ballgame too.

The entrance is at the middle of the block, next to a centralized parking area. Just open the door by the Red Hill sign and go up that lengthy staircase. The beer: I tried two of theirs - The Murph IPA was a my favorite, followed by Pinky and the Brine, a watermelon Gose. I also had two of their guest beers from Railwalk Brewery - Patio Time, a Pina Colada Blonde and Hazed and Confused, a Hazy IPA clocking in at 8.5% ABV - they were decent but I far preferred Red Hill's own stuff. So why is there a picture of my bloody leg? Some dodo put a floor fan right in front of the bar where I tripped over it and cut my leg. No bueno. Only once I complained was it moved. I did shoot the owner an email - he responded right away, took it very seriously and promised to train his taproom staff how to better handle customer injuries. Cool place - solid beer - and hopefully no more fans on the floor to trip over - lol!
