Great Gluten-free AND gluten-full beer on tap. Big open seating area to have big or small groups of family and friends.

All of their beer is amazing. Great selection and rotating styles and flavors. They also do the best gluten free beers!

Armored Cow is a cozy and fun brewery located in the University City area of Charlotte near UNCC. The location doesn't look like much from the outside but don't judge a book by its cover. They aim to provide drinks for everyone including some gluten free beers as well as ciders and kombucha along with other non alcoholic options. It is a welcoming environment that hosts fun events and can be booked for private events as well. Not to mention their beer is very good! They would probably be among my top choices for breweries if I lived closer to them. If you live in North Charlotte and you don't want to make the trek down to the Center City then make sure to bookmark this place. It is a local favorite for a reason! Plus I have to say Armored Cow is an awesome name!

Let me start here with the fact I came here for my favorite food truck's soft reopening. I was pleasantly surprised to find great beer, friendly staff and a clean venue. What a lovely surprise! It was not busy, but was lively. This is a bit far from my home but I will definitely be back! If you live close, I highly recommend adding this into your normal rotation. They have many events on their schedule and an array of beer and seltzers, including gluten free beers.

Great beer being brewed here. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. The staff here is always friendly and welcoming. Definitely one of my favorite places to visit when I am in Charlotte.

This is a cool place to hang out, It has a cute outdoor area and the inside is so cozy, and the whole decor with the light gives it a chill vibe. The staff is very friendly and helpful at the moment of picking up and tasting some of their beers, and also very knowledgeable at the moment of recommending the best options for you. They have a variety of beers, but I decided to go with these 2: - Bang Bang Hazy IPA 7.3% ABV - What's the Craic, Irish Red Ale 4.7% ABV

Armored Cow is always a good time. There is usually a food truck parked outside. In warmer months they host food truck Fridays with multiple trucks and other vendors. Inside, there are snacks (for humans and fur-babies). Gluten-free items are clearly marked. There are lots of TV's to catch the game. There is plenty of seating inside. There is also outside patio seating. I am not a beer fan and can usually find great cider options ar most breweries. I was a little disappointed that they only offered one cider flavor. It just happened to be one I didn't think I would like. So instead I tried the Jun (which they advertise as Kombucha....similar but not the same). They also offer wine. Overall it's a good vibe!

Love this casual place for a good beer (seltzer or cider for me) and it's dog friendly.

We were staying in Charlotte for one night before flying home and I was looking for a craft brewery that had beers to go. My wife happened to find Armored Cow on Yelp and so we decided to stop in. We arrived about 6:30pm on a Saturday evening. We immediately noticed a food truck which we thought was a great addition. It was a beautiful spring day so there were customers enjoying the front patio area as well. We walked up to the bar area and were immediately greeted. I told the employee that I enjoyed IPA's and she was helpful in suggesting both their standard and double IPA and offered samples of both. I thought they were both very good but ultimately decided to purchase a 4-pack of the BlitzKrieg Hop IPA. It must be named after the popular Ramone's song, BlitzKrieg Bop?? I would recommend to other beer lovers and will stop in the next time I'm in the area.

Great place. Brews and cigars. Really nice staff. The trivia DJ was a touch loud. I would say if you have a fever, the only prescription is more cow bell!

Best time ever! Live music, vendors, and food trucks. The weather tried to rain on our parade (a show tune reference, lol), but folks showed up and showed out. Even the dogs were happy to hear music and see people. Follow them on IG for scheduling info.

Cool place to hangout out on a trivia night. It was fun to see people of diverse ages coming out in large numbers with kids, and dogs. Loved their local beer taps. There is also a cool cigar shop outside and a food truck too!

Cool brewery in a mall. I don't think I've ever been to a brewery in a mall but it's a brilliant concept. It's a very nice place with a large tasting room inside and a patio area outside. I had their hazy ipa. It was very tasty and hit the spot. The bartenders were very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. I was here on a Sunday watching football and it's family and dog friendly. I'd definitely return here if I'm ever in the area. It's not too far from the Concord, NC airport. Plenty of parking available out front.

Is there an actual brunch menu? I see a few things listed "and more" but I'm looking for something more concrete. I am referring to their ad for "Battle Brunch"

There is no kitchen. But sometimes food trucks outside.

The German biers are some of the best I've tried. Both the Cooper altbier and Hornets Nest were excellent while their porter was a little too heavy for me. There's a full bar for the non beer drinkers . OMB features a huge selection of food items including German classics like pork schnitzel, wursts and the Bavarian or classic Jumbo pretzels. I'd recommend the sampler plate with the Jalapeño Cheddar Bratwurst as one choice ( you get three) and Jumbo Pretzel with Cooper Bier cheese & Düsseldorf mustard. The sides, such as their German potato salad, red cabbage and sauerkraut are very good. In addition theres a good selection of sandwiches, burgers, salads to choose from. The outside venue is amazing with ample outside seating featuring a fire pit, corn hole ( collect bags at the bar), children's playground and a water station for pets. Overall a great place to grab a beer and enjoy some authentic German style food at reasonable pricing. In addition OMB features private rooms for special events. One note parking could be problematic when it gets busy on weekends or special occasions but if you're willing to walk you'll find parking somewhere .

The cans we bought started leaking, we went back and asked if the leakage was a problem. They asked a few questions and profusely apologized and gave us two six packs of their beer with no charge. They could not have been more attentive and accommodating. The beer is S-tier good. Both the selections brewed on site and the ones imported from Hanover. They had 3 different Bocks on. I love German styles, but malty is my wheelhouse and they had it more than covered. The Eisbock and Weizenbock were particularly amazing, but I drank around the board and didn't find a stinker. The food, which was largely trad Deustch dishes, was equally fantastic. They have few American dishes for less daring palates. On the same weekend, i hit nearly every other brewery in Loso and Gastonia. Gilde wins by a large margin in terms of beer and food quality. The next best classic Euro themed brewery in NC is Lesser Known in Greensboro. If you like German and Czech styles, these 2 have you covered. I plan to return to Gilde at the end of this month for their 500 year anniversary party. To the German leadership team, thanks for taking a chance on NC. The team over here is doing an amazing job.

Updated Review (2026):…read more We've been coming to Gilde since they opened their doors in 2022. When we first began coming, they served delicious authentic German food. Unfortunately, they've changed their menu a dozen times and have removed our favorites from the menu (the original braised pork (they changed it over time, but the original was amazing) and the goulash) :( They have slowly evolved their menu into bar food to cater to the party-going crowd as their street has become more trafficked -- which now means a greater likelihood of having to succumb to the paid parking garage. We're big fans of their beers and did a brewery tour & tasting when Gilde was at its peak. Their beers are the reason I at least give them 2 stars: the pale wheat and red rooster are especially delicious. We even spent our NYE 2025 there and did the stein-holding competition. We've tried new things on the menu, desperate to give them more tries... but we keep ending up disappointed. For example, the steak sandwich is not a steak sandwich, but rather a kebab. We've driven the 40 min drive to go there and show up and then they are closed for a private event (with no notice on their social media). We have also brought friends there and have waited an hour for a server. Last Mother's Day, we showed up for dinner at 7:45 p.m (sure, that's a tad late.. but we left our home at 7) and were told the kitchen was already closed. This Mother's Day, we waited 45 minutes, with no updates or warnings, to be seen by a server. When we tried to place our order, we were told that we couldn't yet place our food order and that we had to order drinks separately because their kitchen was slammed. I'm no expert, but why not still accept customer's orders and speed up the kitchen by bulk-cooking? Can't multiple brats be made at once? Or larger portions of sauerkraut or bacon? Also, only a third of the tables were taken.. so that sounds like some poor kitchen capacity. When we were finally served our food (still took awhile even after putting in the food order), they had served my husbands meal 10 min before mine and then I was served mine.. and it turns out they still had forgotten about our daughter's French toast and had to START it. The disorganization or perhaps just lack of effort/care has gotten ridiculous. So disappointed at the way our favorite restaurant went downhill!
