I came here for the first time over the weekend. I saw they were advertising their annual spelling bee, so that paired with the chance to try someplace new was a no brainer! It's not in my usual neighborhood hangout but easy to get to and in a good area by the university. Plenty of parking in the lot and they had a tamale food truck on site when I arrived. I ordered a soft drink from the bar and sat at a high top. It's a large open space inside and they have a good amount of patio seating too. There was a chess club going on and then later in the evening they hosted music bingo, so they definitely have a good lineup of regular activities going on. The bee was fun, a little short, but it's always interesting to learn new words, meet new people etc. I ordered some birria tacos from the food truck and enjoyed those. Overall it was a pleasant time. Not sure if I would make my way out here regularly but could be nice to add to the mix every now and then. @azfitfoodfun read more

There's always plenty of parking, which makes visiting easy and stress-free. The beer selection is great, with lots of options to choose from. One of the things I love most is how dog-friendly it is. On one visit, they even hosted a shelter event with adoptable dogs - very heartwarming to see. It really adds to the welcoming, community-focused feeling. The space itself is another big plus--there's plenty of room to spread out, and the large tables make it comfortable for groups without feeling crowded. They always have a food truck on-site, which is a nice touch. Each time I've gone, it's been Hot Tamale, which I do enjoy, but it would be great to see a bit more variety in the food truck rotation. Armored Cow is a cozy and fun brewery located in the University City area of Charlotte near UNCC. The location doesn't look like much from the outside but don't judge a book by its cover. They aim to provide drinks for everyone including some gluten free beers as well as ciders and kombucha along with other non alcoholic options. It is a welcoming environment that hosts fun events and can be booked for private events as well. Not to mention their beer is very good! They would probably be among my top choices for breweries if I lived closer to them. If you live in North Charlotte and you don't want to make the trek down to the Center City then make sure to bookmark this place. It is a local favorite for a reason! Armored Cow is always a good time. There is usually a food truck parked outside. In warmer months they host food truck Fridays with multiple trucks and other vendors. Inside, there are snacks (for humans and fur-babies). Gluten-free items are clearly marked. There are lots of TV's to catch the game. There is plenty of seating inside. There is also outside patio seating. I am not a beer fan and can usually find great cider options ar most breweries. I was a little disappointed that they only offered one cider flavor. It just happened to be one I didn't think I would like. So instead I tried the Jun (which they advertise as Kombucha....similar but not the same). They also offer wine. We were staying in Charlotte for one night before flying home and I was looking for a craft brewery that had beers to go. My wife happened to find Armored Cow on Yelp and so we decided to stop in. We arrived about 6:30pm on a Saturday evening. We immediately noticed a food truck which we thought was a great addition. It was a beautiful spring day so there were customers enjoying the front patio area as well. We walked up to the bar area and were immediately greeted. I told the employee that I enjoyed IPA's and she was helpful in suggesting both their standard and double IPA and offered samples of both. I thought they were both very good but ultimately decided to purchase a 4-pack of the BlitzKrieg Hop IPA. It must be named after the popular Ramone's song, BlitzKrieg Bop?? I would recommend to other beer lovers and will stop in the next time I'm in the area. read more

Cool brewery in a mall. I don't think I've ever been to a brewery in a mall but it's a brilliant concept. It's a very nice place with a large tasting room inside and a patio area outside. I had their hazy ipa. It was very tasty and hit the spot. The bartenders were very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. I was here on a Sunday watching football and it's family and dog friendly. I'd definitely return here if I'm ever in the area. It's not too far from the Concord, NC airport. Went to my 2nd Graduation night and tried the Pineapple Cider. The glass was about 3/4ths filled but that's fine. It was really delicious. I was surprised that it wasn't bitter. You definitely could taste the notes of Pineapple. I love the open airy feel of the brewery and quick location to campus. read more

Sitting in building that used to be a radio shack, tucked away in the university area you will find a treasure of a brewery called armored cow brewing company. They have a great selection of delicious beer as well as some seltzer and wine offerings. There is often a food truck on site and Fri. evenings you will find multiple food trucks and some other vendors. The taproom itself has ample seating there are also some tables outside and the place is very pet friendly. They also have a run club if that's your thing, and they do host events if your want to have your event there. If you haven't stopped by yet you really should do so! read more

First timer at Armored Cow Brewing. Went on a Sunday afternoon. This brewery is located at University Place, adjacent to Sams Club. I believe it was the old Men's Warehouse store. Anyway, they did a nice job with the inside, they have a bar, tables ; both high tops and low tops. Plenty of room for many people to mingle. You can see where the beer is made. We had the flight plus so so it covered all the flavors. There were only 2 that I personally liked. They were Bitchin Betty and Stone Cold. I don't care for strong lagers so I enjoyed these two flavors better. They don't serve food however a food truck pulled up and quickly prepared their food for sale. I believe you can bring the food inside. The brewery was selling small snacks for sale but there was no full menu to be had. Nice to see University Place get a brewery. I tried the gluten free beers to see how it stacked up and I actually liked them better than the traditional beer! The brewery is located in the University Area, same shopping area as the Fitness Connection/Sam's Club. So there is more than enough parking! They also have food truck(s) outside the brewery, since they don't have a food kitchen. Inside, there are games (jenga, checkers, etc) and plenty of seating and tables. This hot and new place was a great brewery in University for a large or small group. Dog friendly too for the inside or outside! There were about 9 beers to choose from on tap and I believe about 5 of their specialty Gluten Free beers. Snacks and wine were available as well for anyone who wasn't there for the beer. My aunt and I enjoyed the flight where we were able to sample all 8 beers and were poured a sample for the 9th (odd man out) beer. I will definitely be back for their cherry bomb, Stone cold, and the Fun"5"weizen which were our three favorite beers. There was a food truck that arrived later in the afternoon on Sunday in their parking lot. There was ample parking which was terrific because no one likes searching high and low for a parking spot! My husband is gluten free and loves beer and has missed having beer for many years - he has never been satisfied with what is available in bottles. There's just nothing like beer on tap. So when I found out about the Armored Cow in Charlotte, we made a date night out of driving here from Columbia - it was well worth the drive! We had a flight of the four available GF tap beers that night (they had other ciders and seltzers on tap that were also gluten free), and let me tell you - every single one was a delight! The "Hell Yeah" was my favorite - it tasted like a garden of basil. My husband liked the "Mr. Goodbeer" which was a chocolaty porter. The "Cinnamon Girl" was like sipping on a beer with a hint of cinnabun, and the "Whole Lotta Rosie" tasted like a morning espresso. After sharing one flight, we decided to each then order our own flight of the exact same things so that we could have them again! 10/10 recommend - and we will be back.
