One of the best recommendations you can give to a locally owned restaurant is to recognize if the local residents are filling the tables. My son and I came to Peppermint's at 10am on a Sunday morning expecting a few early birds. What we found was a local restaurant *packed* with families enjoying themselves before church. The restaurant is neat and clean. The staff is absolutely delightfully friendly. The food is great. I had fruit pancakes while my son had a breakfast bowl. We loved it. So this was my first time eating here at Peppermints and it went like this...First off there's plenty of safe off street parking and easy entrance for all...Next the room, well the room is what I would call vintage or old school, now this is not a bad thing but rather a throwback to the good ol` days we all love...The menu is also old school dinner fare, with cheeseburgers, club sandwiches, meat loaf, salads, soups, all of the good comfort type food...So I ordered a turkey club sandwich that also came with fries and a unsweetened ice tea with lemon...My food arrived shortly afterward and folks it was so good and plentiful...The sandwich was like a Man VS Food challenge and I had to open my mouth as far as I could to get my first bite, and yes it was the bomb...Truly delicious from top to bottom and the fries done just as I wanted, crispy...The ice tea was also very nice with a large lemon slice...The staff was super friendly and made the dinning experience much better than some places have been lately...So all in all this spot was a nice trip down memory lane and the food topped it all off...Give them a try soon and take a walk down memory lane as well... read more

Best Buffalo chicken salad of my life! I was in love. I subbed blue cheese with yummy ranch. My gf got a Swiss army burger medium with bacon. It came out very well done and dry. She brought it to the waitress's attention and she had it replaced with a delicious juicy burger shortly after. The hostess was very welcoming and friendly not to mention adorable with pretty purple in her braids. Our waitress had really pretty dyed hair as well and pretty blue eye lashes. The entire staff was nice and seemed very comfortable with each other. Its covid so we arent eating out much but we felt very safe here. The staff was friendly and tidy and everyone was wearing masks. The place was clean and we were seated at a safe distance from other patrons. We first came here for our daughters birthday breakfast. They have a great selection of breakfast foods and we all found something to enjoy. I had the greek omelet, my husband and daughter shared the hangover omelet and my son had a Belgian waffle. We all cleaned our plates! We returned for lunch a few weeks later. Again, the services was friendly and the atmosphere was clean and we felt comfortably distanced from other patrons. Came in here at about 4:30 on a Thursday, and it was dead. I came here based on what appeared to be some good Yelp reviews, so I was surprised. The waitress was probably one of the friendliest that I have ever had at any eatery. She helped explain some items on the menu to me. When the food came, the immediate noticeable thing was the plating and presentation of the food. It was amazing for a place that seemed to be presenting itself as more of a diner than a restaurant. The souvlaki was lacking in taste, and I didn't care for the spanikopita. I ordered the Turkey Club. The menu advertised "three layers of white turkey breast," but I only saw one layer??? I don't think the sandwich even had any "third layer!" Very, very small sandwich for a $10 price tag, and I left still hungry. Sandwich was fairly plain and lacking in any real taste. The Mickey Mouse Chocolate Chip Pancakes were a hit with the kid that was with me. Also, didn't see any peppermints on the way out??? I'm giving them a 4 because of how great the waitress was, and the presentation of the food. The food is good, comes out quickly and is reasonably priced but the service is what really stands out. Went for lunch and got the western omelette and LA Cinnamon Toast. My fiancé got a wrap and a vanilla milkshake. The food was good, and came out quickly. Our server was so wonderful from start to finish. She was quick to greet us with a smile when we came in, was very friendly and attentive throughout the meal and made the experience of going out for lunch enjoyable. Not sure how we wound up here but I had found several great reviews for Peppermints and decided to give it a shot for breakfast. Two coworkers and I stopped in for a somewhat late breakfast around 9am on a weekday. The place was easy to find once my GPS got me in the area. Making left turns in and out of here though could be a little tricky with the somewhat heavy traffic. The restaurant was pleasant with what I would describe as a French Country look with faux wall textures, tulip and vine hanging lights with numerous accents. There were probably only three tables occupied at this hour. We were promptly seated with drinks ordered shortly there after. Lots of choices on the breakfast menu all at very reasonable prices. I had their 222 breakfast of eggs, pancakes, bacon and sausage. My coworkers ordered an omelet and the country breakfast with eggs and sausage. We didn't wait long for our orders to arrive piping hot and fresh. My pancakes were wonderful with a rich buttery taste. My scrambled eggs were light and tasty. I preferred the bacon over the sausage but nothing "wrong" with the latter. I heard good things about the omelet and the country breakfast plate was empty by the time we were ready to leave. In town for a hockey tournament and found Peppermints. What a find! Incredible breakfast. Some of the largest pancakes you will ever see. Ham and cheese omelette was fantastic. We stopped here on our way back from visiting a school. We market to high schools. Nice place and received high reviews in Yelp.and now I know why. Just a comfortable casual dining place with an explosive menu. The specials were originals not from the menu. Goulash, monte cristo, and one other. This place had a Greek menu too. Well after talking with the delightful server, she recommended the monte Cristo. Water came with just enough ice and a nice wedge of lemon. Then the food came. Come on! The sandwich was done in thick French toast. Real turkey and ham sliced perfectly cheese and a special sauce. It was delicious and the best MC I'd ever eaten. French toasted bread, how original. Plenty of parking and a price that is not low cost but fits the quality of food. The menu was fantastic if you like Greek as well. I highly recommend this place off 390 in Rochester. read more

Not having a reservation anywhere else and wanting to avoid the wait at "good" restaurants, we begrudgingly walked into Peppermints one Saturday evening, about year ago. I thought I remembered this place as a kid being the "old folks" restaurant so I had low expectations. Immediately I was taken aback by the enthusiastic friendliness of the staff. They weren't just professionally friendly...they were genuinely friendly. I ordered a turkey club and fries - safe bets. The bread was nicely toasted, the slices of turkey were thick, and the fries were hot and crispy. I decided that we would return again simply based on the cleanliness and reasonable prices. We have frequented Peppermints at least a dozen times - bringing various friends with us, and they all have been impressed. Whether they are or not, I can't say, but most of their entrees taste homemade. We have tried several of their desserts and are stark raving mad for their Strawberry Shortcake. Saturday evenings they have a Prime Rib dinner for $18 that is simply delicious! Cooked to order, with potatoes of your choice, and soup/salad, it's the perfect reward for a demanding day of housework, gardening, and brainless domestic chores. read more

The Moussaka was great, and the salad it came with was so good I want to go back and order a dinner sized one next time. The Gyro with coleslaw as a side was great too. They make a good milkshake. My friend and I went for breakfast yesterday, Memorial Day at 9:00, got right in. Hostess was nice, seated us right away, took our drink orders, and we looked over the menu. The menu is varied so you should have no trouble finding something. We both had omelets, which came out extremely hot, fresh, and delicious. Price for two was around $27.00, which I thought fair for 2 omelets, juice, hash browns, with toast. First thought on seeing "Peppermints" show up on a list of restaurants along our route was, "that strip club is a franchise??" I can assure you that this restaurant is in no way (or at least in no recognizable way) affiliated with that or any other exotic dancing locale. Instead, we found a kick-ass diner. Traveling from Buffalo to Poughkeepsie is a trip I make several times a year for work, and usually I make do with rest stop fare (gag). This most recent trip I had my husband along for the ride, and while we didn't have much hope beyond "edible" for anything along the highway, he wanted an actual meal. We were greeted immediately upon entering by a friendly hostess and shown to a booth. I opted to try the "Peppermints Burger," a burger with cheese, bacon, and mushrooms with curly fries. My husband was in the mood for chicken fingers, and was going to order the appetizer with a side of sweet potato fries, but the waitress pointed out an entree version that would come with the fries and another side -- he went for the roasted veggies -- so more food for a little less than the appetizer version. When the food came out we were very pleasantly surprised. A step above your average diner fare, everything was fresh and tasty. My burger was cooked to a perfect medium without having all the juice pressed out of it and came on a great quality hard roll. The curly fries were exactly what you'd hope for from a diner, exactly the same as I've eaten a thousand times in diners across New York and New Jersey (and that's a good thing). The chicken fingers were crispy on the outside and tender white meat inside with a nicely flavored sauce ("if I were going to nitpick, he said, I would have liked a little more sauce on them") and the sweet potato fries were again a diner standard. The roasted veggies were a surprise -- no emaciated frozen green beans here -- it was a nice mix of cauliflower and squash perfectly roasted. Service was very friendly and very prompt with soda refills. If we had more time I would have liked to try the coffee and dessert and/or breakfast. A friend of mine who is a regular brought me here for a late Sunday brunch. I got the bangers and eggs special written on the chalkboard right when you walk in. The eggs needed salt and pepper but otherwise it was perfect. A nice change from standard skimpy breakfast sausage, the Bangers really hit the spot. The toast was so thick I would think it was home made. The place was about half full so there was no wait, service was a bit slow but we werent in a hurry and our food came out quickly. Son was happy with the flavor of his cheeseburger, just not the bun, which he said was wet. Wife said it's probably because they're fresh. Could be; idk. Whatever. I had the 222 breakfast with strawberry pancakes...nice fresh strawberries with whipped cream (omg lovely). Had cold brew coffee. Coffee was excellent... I didn't try the nitro cold brew because they said the nitro machine was broken. But the regular cold brew was awesome. My husband had the Italian trio(?) I think that's what it was called...Alfredo linguini, stuffed manicotti and meatballs with garlic toast. He said he really enjoyed it even though the meatballs were a bit heavy on the breading...
