I found this restaurant on a recommendation from someone in Tractor Supply parking lot. Well worth the 6+ mile drive. I had the chicken and biscuits. A visiting grandchild asked to renew our Peppermints "habit." The family moved out of state and the kids were especially fond of Peppermints. It is not the restaurant we remembered from 2025. We were promptly seated. Greek favorites and other enjoyed items are no longer on the menu. We waited 12-15 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order; we ordered our meals at the same time. The drinks came promptly. The food did not. 35 minutes went by. Parties came in, ate and left and still no food served. When I inquired the waitress said the kitchen made an error and it was not her fault. I said our choice is to leave if food cannot be served. (We saw other parties get the same food we ordered so it was not a shortage or lack of chef.) As we were leaving without eating, the head waitress asked what was happening - voila the food was ready, not totally correct or hot but it was served. Our waitress was attentive after we got our food and she brought our bill quickly. What went wrong: (1) We waited to order even as other customers arrived and their order taken ell before ours. (2) Our waitress did not check on us for 30 minutes. (3) Our food arrived at the table 40 minutes after being ordered. (4) The waitress did not take ownership of the problem. She deflected, made no attempts to correct, and needed the head waitress to step in. (5) Common condiments (butter for vegetables, sour cream for quesadillas) were not served. What went right: (1) Drinks arrived quickly. (2) Take out box arrived in a timely fashion (3) Our bill was delivered and processed quickly. We have options. It is unlikely we will be back. A long term customer, once or twice per year. Had been stellar for years, and usually have went for breakfast or lunch with large parties, as in 5 or more people. Ordered takeout dinner a few months back. Easily one of the worst 3 meals I've had in the last 10 years. Really basically inedible hot roast beef sandwich. It was ordered shortly before closing time, so wondering if that had anything to do with it. Perhaps the cook thought he was off the rest of the day already and was angry. So bad and so turned off by it, not sure if I can stomach trying again. Told, tough, shoe leather-like, terrible tasting. I'm hoping the kitchen help is satisfactory or better, at least if I do every try again. read more

Peppermints has been around for a very long time, and having grown up and spending my early adult years in the area, I'm surprised I haven't visited here before, at least, not that I remember. The place reminds of me of what we used to consider classy restaurants back in the 70's - woody interior, low ceiling and a mix of booths and tables. Well, classy for me as a pre-teen anyway. It is a decent family style restaurant now. Visiting the ROC, my bride & I stopped here to meet up with family in the area for breakfast. The food was okay, the only thing that surprised me was the corned beef hash - in that it seemed to have more sausage then corned beef in it. Thankfully it wasn't like the canned Hormel corned beef hash. Service was okay, we got our coffees and waters. Refills took a little time to get but we weren't in any hurry. I'd come back if I was in the immediate area, and I would try something different. Not sure I'd travel 20 miles to come here though. read more

Is too bad I wish these places the best of luck. Seated got coffee it must have been 15 minutes before she came back to take order and it was not busy . Had to stand up and go find the waitress an older lady. I ordered Hash and eggs only because she told me it was homemade by them . 3.5 stars, really. It is. First time to try this restaurant after I read the reviews & got curious. It caught my attention was omelets. I love omelets. Theyre not hard to find. Its pretty much easy to spot at because its obviously there with big sign. Inside of the building looks nice & not exactly like Denny's or Perkins. They have nice chalkboards with recommends on tables & booths. Its nice, really. Waitress is friendly. Thats impressive start. So, I asked for describe of omelet. Thats exactly wha I can picture of. I ordered cheese & bacon omelet, Bavarian pretzels... Waiting isnt long, maybe under 20 mins tops. Waitress brought food & looks nice! First bite bavarian pretzel- its ok. Not amazing but its ok. Next food is cheese & bacon omelet.. my expectation is cheesy that melts & deliciously bacons, guess what? First bite.. nope its not cheese that very melt. Its like microwave cheese on it. Im not really enjoy but finished 'em all. Hash browns taste bland & I had to add salt. Ah, its better. Umm, toasted wheat bread is better. I asked for strawberry jam not grape. She got me strawberry. Perfect. Good job, waitress! She did it good job. Food is just all right to me. Not super. Its just all right. Its like college cafeteria make. Sorry. I could come back again for different food. Strawberry milkshake is good but at least its better than mcdonald's. Price isnt bad. Very reasonable. Soda for $3? Jeez. Milkshake for $5. Umm ok. Unfortunately, the experience today was bad. I've been here numerous times and love their food. Today, Cindy waited on me and was atrocious. Rude and literally just horrible customer service. Never understand how people like that are able to keep jobs waiting on others. The other waitresses sounded friendly, too bad I got Cindy. The absolute worse restaurant in the area. Ordered beer battered fish fry, it came out with no crust and soaking in oil. Told the waiter and he proceeded to argue with me. Would give a lower rating if I could. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with complete rudeness from the old red head lady sitting us. Waited longer than we should for our food. No cheese in a western omelet? Waitress was ok. The owner was a complete jerk that clearly sets the tone for everyone. Was rude to me from the start. Twice this week we went to peppermints restaurant in Avon N.Y.. Friday 7/5 and Sunday 7/7. Friday fish fry was not good. All breading no fish inside even after 2 tries. Sunday breakfast ,No sausage links or paddies. I asked for ham instead. Breakfast arrived, no Ham. Took dollar off! I said not acceptable. Took 2 dollars off. We waited almost an hour for food. Great clean diner, seems newly updated, you have to give it a chance if your in town. Great and tasty along with a huge variety of food including sandwiches, burgers, breakfast and some Italian. Went there with a group of guys from work and all their melts, wraps, burgers and melts looked very good. Also saw a table next to us having potatoes skins that looked deep friend with sour cream, they look amazing too. I went with the breakfast all day baby that's how I role at diners, with eggs benny! Besides the ones I had in Boston with lobster these were hands down top of my list for eggs benny. Loved the hollandaise sauce, it wasn't so thick that it was way to much, very thin and cremey and tasty! The muffin was hot and buttery, egg was poached perfectly and oozed out with a slice of a fork which is the eggs benny test btw. The ham was nice and thin as well. Had the hashbrowns on the side, they were good but was looking for them to be a little more crispy and some seasoning at least, that would have brought it to 5 stars. Solid diner fare here, nothing too exceptional. We came here late one Monday morning, well after their breakfast rush. Pluses? 1) Ordered eggs over medium and that's what we got (Steve's, take note) 2) Great toast! 3) Tasty home fries. Minuses? 1) "Kraft Jam" actually grape jelly. Raspberry Jam on request only. No strawberry or orange marmalade. 2) Sausages were cold 3) Inattentive service. We had to flag down a server for refills on coffee. The moussaka had a layer of densely packed meat, and thickly sliced eggplant, the bechemel sauce was custard like. There for breakfast on a Sunday around 10. There was no wait. Service friendly. Good coffee but not great. Yummy flavored creamers. Affordable prices. My breakfast was delicious- a "scrambler" with corn beef, cheddar, nicely sliced potatoes, hollindaise. HOMEMADE bread - it didn't say homemade on menu but it seemed like it was. If you're going to waste calories on bread, it's worth it here. My hubby says "it's good. It's fine." Clean bathroom. Clean restaurant; nothing special for decor. Once we did get our food it was cold. Some of the food was nuke warm. No one even stopped by to ask how everything was. At least two of the orders were wrong. Not the 1st time this place let us down. Extremely friendly staff, great service. I stopped by to try the Tesla chargers (the restaurant has 3). Unfortunately they are wired such that each charger can only provide a maximum of 32A which delivers around 20 miles of range per hour (each charger is designed so it can deliver up to 80A or 55 miles per hour but must be wired separately and set internally to deliver maximum charge). So if you drive out of your way to get to the restaurant to charge you need to spend at least an hour there to gain even a few miles of range. Really this defeated the purpose of my visit. Food is good and prices very fair. Serving sizes are generous. I suspect a great place for breakfast or lunch. If the chargers were wired better I would have given a higher rating. read more
