10/10 recommend. My goodness is this diner wonderful - it is far more than great; it is excellent! First, the restaurant is nicely laid out with lots of tables, and it is very clean. Next, the hostesses were all wonderful and so friendly. What a way to start the morning! Our servers were great as well. Straight to it and very accommodating. We went here twice, and each time our server was wonderful. But let's get to the FOOD! DELICIOUS! Listen. I live a solid dinner all day, but a diner that also is knowledgeable about gluten allergies and has gluten free bread?! Yes please!!! And this isn't a greasy spoon diner you go to at 3AM (even though I love those too) - it is delicious, simple, home cooked, heart warming food. Every dish we ate was so good. Big portions, crispy hash brown patties, gluten free toast, delicious milkshakes, and solid coffee to start the day. This diner could not do wrong in my eyes. What a great spot, and we cannot wait to come back soon! read more

It was a very busy day at the diner as it was Columbus Day. We were seated right away. Service was great and our waitress was very attentive. Food was quick and hot. It's a great diner. read more

Wonderful made-from-scratch items. Four of us for breakfast on a busy Sunday morning. The place was bustling. All of our food was delicious--corned beef hash, eggs benedict, cheese grits, etc. Three of us ordered the rye toast--excellent. Waitress was friendly and knew her job well. We were visitors to the area and were sorry that we couldn't go back again to the gem of a diner. read more

Food amazing and Service is great! Highly recommended, order pancakes they are huge!!!!

Mediocre food with mediocre service. We went here on a Monday morning. It was a little busy, but definitely tons of spaces to sit. I am not sure if our waitress was flustered or what was going on, but she definitely was not super friendly. I also didn't like that I had my hand out stretched for the check and she bypassed me and went directly back into the booth to give it to my husband who was not waiting for the bill nor did he have his hand out. I found that rude since my hand was obviously out waiting for it. Food was okay. I'm not sure if I would be back. Potatoes didn't seem like they were cooked enough. Egg sandwich was okay. Not super flavorful. Overall the experience and the food was okay. read more

Ok updated review. Same as last time. There were at least 1/2 the tables unoccupied and the hostess still wouldn't seat me until My friend came in 4 minutes later. I get it if the place is packed, but it was half empty, I only go to this overrated place if someone really wants to go. Food is ok, same as the other diners. Ok they have the huge pancake, but otherwise, nothing different. read more

Quick food and drink service. Got two meals out of the Rochester plate. Liked it better than the last one I had the night before somewhere else. Not local but I would definetly eat here again. read more

The food was good until a black hair was found in my French toast. Service was terrible. Slow and didn't show any care for customer. Left personal property at the table instead of holding on to it in case the customer came back for it they just throw it away. Very disappointed on overall service. Highly do not recommend. read more

Great American you food is so good, your prices are high- but worth the quality... your service is rude... I know my older friend and I wee there for just over an hour and half- but just say you need the table and don't have two waitresses ask if we need anything- then the hostess ask us " to please pay the bill at the front" and then the waitress grabs my receipt before I leave to make sure I paid a tip ( which I did)... do better Great American... read more

Went for breakfast and they have many options all of which were delicious including giant pancakes, waffles, omelettes and more. Molly was a great server and the place was very busy. Ambiance was slightly loud but would go again no matter what and soon! read more

This is the most expensive diner that I have been to. The add ons are pricey; almost $6 for 2 scrambled eggs; $2 for slices of avocado added to my eggs benedict. You want a burger with fries? You may change your tune when you know it's an extra $2.60. There is no extra charge for non-traditional burger sides like veggie sticks with hummus, cottage cheese, applesauce, chips. There were no kids menus that we were aware of, or offered. Spent over $110 for LUNCH for us 2 and 3 kids under 10. We got two plain cheeseburgers with fries for the boys and it was $15 each. Even if you exclude almost $20 for 3 chocolate milks ($9), mulled cider ($5) and coffee ($3), the food itself was still expensive and didn't justify the cost. How delicious are those two scrambled eggs for $6? Was there saffron in it? I left feeling completely swindled. Read closely the fine print under each section of the menu and don't go hungry like us where we ordered burgers/sandwiches under the assumption fries are included. read more

I went here for the first time with a friend for brunch on Sunday. We were seated fairly quickly and everyone was so friendly and worked so well together. It was so nice to see all the servers working like a well oiled machine and enjoying laughs while doing so. I had the patty melt which came with caramelized onions and thousand island dressing on marble rye, with humus and veggies. My friend had the julienned salad with Bleu cheese. Dina was our server and was just the sweetest! Everything was great and we enjoyed looking at all of the cute and funny signs on the walls and the beautiful autumn decor. I would definitely return! read more

The people are very friendly here and the food is good, my only complaint is the price of the pecan pancakes. 1 large pecan pancake was $13 which to me is ridiculous. I've worked in the industry and I am all for making a profit, but 1 specialty pancake for $13 is not right. I definitely won't order that again. read more

You know them or should for breakfast it's delicious. They are now open for dinner Monday -Friday until 8pm with a special dinner menu. It includes early bird menu, 2pm-5pm. Do not hesitate on the Chicken French. It's could easily win a competition against a pricier Italian restaurant. AND you get soup or salad included no up charge!!! Come for dinner because we want to keep them as a reasonably priced dinner option in Fairport. read more

We got chicken French and soup and hot turkey sandwiches. All delicious! This is not our first time there always satisfied.

Still good after its name/ownership change, it seems. Similar food and quality, just different names. The chipotle hollandaise is quite rich. The pancakes, even the savory varieties, are a bit sweet. Service was a bit slow, appreciate not being rushed of course but it was hard to ask for things throughout the meal and to get to go boxes so we could leave. read more

I love it here. Just absolutely yummy diner food. And something for everyone. My husband is doing keto and got a salad and eggs. I left all dieting aside and had cheesecake French toast. So good!!! This location is newer and more spacious than the Penfield one. The bathroom is also nicer. Both have great food! We arrived at 1:00 this Saturday, and we were seated right away. We will for sure be back! read more

Host was awful!! Very rude. Gave us a dead pager and acted like my group had caused her such trouble for not coming in right when paged... (The pager was dead). When waiting in line to check out she mentioned to another customer how us teenagers were so impatient. Other customers outside were agreeing that she was being inappropriate and rude. read more

It had been since December 2018 that we had visited Steve's, and man am I glad I returned. Today's meal and service were fantastic! Our server greeted us right away with iced waters and took our beverage orders. We each got different types of coffee and our server consistently filled each correctly throughout our visit. The restaurant was very busy, and bustling, but the host did a great job at managing the flow of people. I ordered the Steve's Special, which was two eggs, choice of meat and a pancake or French toast. I had over easy eggs, link sausage, and the Reese's pieces pancake. The wait for food was not long at all, and it was worth it!! The eggs were cooked perfectly. The link sausage reminds me of diner sausages in the tri-state area. I also ordered two hash brown patties on the side. But let me tell you about this EPIC pancake. First, the aroma of the pancake told you right away that it was going to taste amazing, and it did. The Reese's pieces were melted and made this pancake sinful. It was absolutely divine. It was great to see this diner, with its incredible menu, offer such amazing food and fabulous service. We'll definitely be back. read more

Fun and fast, waitress friendly and efficient. Food like you expect in a diner and done well.

Service was excellent. Food is over-rated and expensive. A fresh turkey club is actually ordinary deli.

The food is great and the waitress and hostess are very friendly. I go there alot . Its very clean

I was recently at lunch with a friend who has been to the Great American Diner various times. The wait was an issue. We had to both be there before they would seat her. That was ok. We were asked to sit at a table for two that no one could possibly put two people. No space . We were promptly moved by a waitress to a booth just around the corner. The waitress was stressed , it was apparent but she was very good. The menu is vast, interesting and affordable. The food was great. We sat and talked without feeling rushed. I can see why people stand outside waiting for a table. My advice.... Make your waitresses happy and hire someone just for check out.otherwise a great place. read more

A diner breakfast is my favorite meal. I found a new breakfast favorite...egg chicken souvlaki breakfast. A touch of lemon zest in this dish is perfect. Steve's is always busy on a Sunday morning. Omg, are you kidding me $4.75 for a cup of " Jamaican Me Crazy"flavored coffee! What a way to rip people off!!! Food is "ok" but I literally had to go up to the counter to ask someone to refill my coffee! The younger waitress was definitely not busy at the time either I wish I would've gotten her name! I live right across the street at the apartment complex and I would frequent the place more often but I'm big on Customer Service and that totally turned me off as well as the fact that I like that kind of coffee but don't want to pay that kind of money for it! read more

Fantastic food. Very friendly wait staff. I was visiting the area and never walked away hungry, after 3 different visits.

I LOVE this place! Both the locations in Penfield and Fairport but since I now live closer to the Fairport location it's been such a great convenience. Lately, I've been order one Reese's Peanut Butter pancake and a side of ham steak. The pancake alone lasts me two days to eat, but I can't seem to help not getting their delicious ham steak - that I usually share with my company. In the past, I've also tried their Poutine fries, which are good as well. I'm looking forward to someday trying their lunch menu- but for some reason I'm stuck on their breakfast items. This place is a must try!! But be willing to go when you have time to relax and wait for a table or your to-go items because 9 times out of 10 there is always a wait- but well worth it! read more

Full breakfast menu. They even had some obscure things like Grits, which my daughter always looks for. Great selection of omelettes and the pancake varieties are great. We were seated immediately and got coffee and Raspberry Hot Chocolate very quickly. The food came out shortly after that. Staff were friendly and efficient. My coffee was filled 3 times which clues you in to the level of service they are providing. To-go boxes were dropped off before I had to ask. In other words, the service is top notch. The food was hot and delicious. It's bright, modern and clean inside. Very nice and I would definitely recommend for families. read more

What a cute place!! It was a very busy Saturday morning but we were able to sit right away at the counter. Unfortunately no alcohol (I had a hankering for a bloody mary) but the waitress said they were working on getting a liquor license. It was so busy, with so many people working in the kitchen and in the dining room and it was a well oiled machine. I had the hangover breakfast which was home friend, eggs (I got poached), chili, cheese and a side of toast. I could've done without the beans in the chili but to each his own. My husband had the dumpster which is basically a garbage plate with eggs and he was very pleased. The love cakes look huge and amazing, as so their many Beni's so those are on my list for our return. Highly recommend, and definitely bring your kids here! read more

You can find us here every week when we hold our "Cousins Lunch"!!! We've been coming here since it was Steve's Original Diner and continue now that it's known as GAD! The servers are friendly and know their stuff! I'll never know how they balance all those plates!! And the food is awesome! The pancakes are huge, the omelettes are fluffy and filled with whatever you choose, and somehow, they make a regular egg taste amazing!! So comforting! A Great American Diner!!! What can I say about Steve's Diner except how much I love this place and the food! I'm not a pancake eater in general but here I definitely am! The pancakes completely cover the dinner plate and are delicious! My favorite one has pecans and warm maple syrup and my daughter gets the chocolate chip. They are filled with whatever item you have ordered. Last time I wanted something lighter so I got eggs that had lemon and feta with homes fries and toast which is actually well buttered. Everything is hot and made quickly. I plan to go there again very soon! They have plexiglass in between the tables/booths and sanitize right away after customers leave. They also provide hand sanitizer on every table. Masks and gloves on all staff and masks required on customers until they are seated. All precautions are being practiced here read more

Oh Steve's, we love you. I miss heading into the diner on a Saturday morning and ordering a pancake appetizer as big as a pizza for the table. I even miss waiting outside 20-30 mins for that table. However, takeout is the next best thing. We just ordered our pancake appetizer, and our typical eggs Florentine and breakfast sandwiches. It's sooo good every time. The eggs are always cooked perfectly, I love that you're not stingy with the hollandaise sauce and the copious amounts of spinach on the Florentine. The best part are the super thick English muffins they come on top of. I think they're all Donna Marie's now- which makes it even better. My son loves the m&m pancakes - and we tend to get the cannoli pancake for birthday celebrations. When the pandemic is over, this will be one of our first dine-in restaurants we go to again. read more

I must say that I was skeptical when Steve's opened this second location just a few miles from the original... But he clearly knew what he was doing. This location takes the great food and service that I have always loved and done away with the constraints imposed by the limited size of the original. The restaurant is at least 1/3 larger which has allowed for a much more open floor... No tables jammed together here. They have also tripled the counter space and the pass through and work space for the servers. Much more efficient. Brightly lit and sparkling clean. My server was friendly, service was fast and the giant buckwheat blueberry pancake and coffee were delicious... And 10 minutes closer to home. Steve's (New) Original is a winner in my book! read more

Typical diner fare but kinda pricey, breakfast for 2 landed us as $45.
