As left from being in the studio audience at the View, we were looking for somewhere to eat. We were curious about Canal St and found this place. Excellent service from the staff and the food is very good. We were informed that their pastas are made from scratch. We chose the $30 lunch special but keep in mind that everyone in your party must choose the lunch special if one person orders it.

Carpaccio Di Manzo

Came here for a late lunch as a party 1 and wanted to try their Restaurant Week lunch special. I was greeted by a lovely staff member and was free to choose any small table. The complementary tomato flan packed a surprising amount of flavor. Spreading it on the bread was a different but delightful experience compared to having a plate of sauce or oil. The top of the bread was brushed with some salt, elevating the overall taste. I had the Carpaccio di Manzo for my appetizer. The marriage of cured beef, cheese, and truffle was a wonderful salt fiesta in my mouth. The portion was also quite generous, so I'll definitely get this again in my future visits (unless I'm trying something new). For my main, I got the Polpettine Di Vitella (Veal & Ricotta Meatballs). The dish overall had a good balance between salt and savory, and a plentiful amount of salt and pepper. The meatballs had a semi-deep lingering taste from the ricotta, which was accompanied with several seasoned vegetables and a light tomato sauce. It was a good contrast from the strong carpaccio opener. In total, the dishes were definitely on the salty side. However, it was tolerable for me because it satisfied my appetite as an athlete. But I can see how this could be a turn off for some consumers, especially with the Carpaccio di Manzo. The restaurant week special is definitely a steal, but I will still come back to try more dishes, and recommend this to my friends and family

I recently visited the city's (arguably) lone authentic Tuscan restaurant for a quick work lunch in search of its pappa al pomodoro. As part of my recent obsession with bread soups that started with lablabi and ribolita, I wanted to try Pepolino's rendition of this humble tomato-based soup that makes use of bread chunks as a thickener of sorts. It's probably challenging to make this dish exceptional given the limited ingredients, but it was a satisfying, nap-inducing meal that made good use of a healthy portion of olive oil. The vibe here is not especially memorable, but is cozy enough for a weekday midday option.

Lamb

I loved this restaurant and all of the dishes were fantastic! The sauce on the lamb was rich and savory and the ragu pasta was light and fresh. 10/10! The bartender is awesome and gave the best recommendations, including the cheesecake for dessert which is not to be missed.

Large group party with a 1 hour open bar. Ambience was fine. Rustic but comfortable. Service was hit or miss. Drinks came quickly during the open bar which was appreciated. However, during dinner service, 1 of 3 tables did not receive the salad even though other diners received the only other appetizer choice. This meant the servers should have known. And on top of that, it took multiple complaints before we finally received the salads which came after they served the next pasta course. Prix fixe menu. Food was fine and probably just at par given the price. The strip loin was grainy. Honestly, mostly forgettable but without any obvious flaws. That's really it. Besides the service snafu, this is a decent spot. You can do worse but you can also do better.

We came here during restaurant week and it was so good. It was a fixed price menu with an appetizer entrée and a drink and it was so awesome. We came in while it was not so busy, but the servers were so so friendly telling us about the history of the restaurant and where the food is imported from. The inside was so gorgeous it felt very homey in Italian. Overall, we had a great experience here. We stayed here for hours and they didn't kick us out which was really nice.

The service was good here but I sprained my leg so found it difficult to walk up the stairs. The table had a weird pungent smell. The food was okay. Not the best I had. One of the people in my table was from Sicily and didnt like the food either. The ambiance was okay but I don't plan to cone here again.

Came here with my team for a team dinner. It feels really intimate and dimly lit inside. Good: - Tasty free bread - Burrata was very good, good ratio of cheese to tomato - Eggplant parm was so good - it was thinly sliced and easy to eat - The ragu was tasty - the pasta noodles had a lot of texture and good flavor - Portions are good, super full - Service was good - nice waiters Bad: - Nothing too crazy in terms of blowing my mind Overall this place was nice for getting my team created!

it has been 3-4 months but I still remember the night we had dinner here. The pasta that have leek inside is a masterpiece, I'm also so delighted that pepolino even followed me on instagram! It was a pleasure, scheduling to come visit sooner

Pepolino is a conveniently located, beautifully adorned Italian restaurant serving delicious food. It was nice to be able to make a reservation for a group of five, which is nearly impossible now I feel in NYC without endlessly refreshing Resy. The cocktails were on the more expensive side at 20+. We got wine. There was complimentary bread with a delicious fresh tomato paste/dip. We shared the endive salad and the croquettes. We each got our own pastas. I liked my wild boar pappardelle. I also got to try my friend's mushroom tagliatelle and the squid ink pastas. Both were great options too! I would definitely come back if I wanted simple good Italian food!

This pasta place was so good, my friends came back a second time during their four day trip!…read more All the pastas are made in house, fresh and you can definitely tell and even see them making it. There were a couple specials when we came on a different menu. We ordered a bottle of wine, antinori, ravioli ricotta e spinaci, maccheroni sull'anatra and tagliatelle al tartufo (twice). Everything was delicious but definitely the tagliatelle al tartufo was the star. I'm basic and I love a truffle gnocchi or pasta but this one far exceeded my expectations- from the fresh truffle shavings being included, to the homemade pasta texture (perfectly thin) and lastly but not least the sauce! The sauce wasn't a standard heavy cream tasting base, it was light while still being rich and strong in tartufo flavor. We ordered a second one because we all liked it that much. A close second was the maccheroni sul'antra, aka a duck ragu. I've never had a duck pasta and the fact it tasted like duck but had the same texture as a traditional ragu with pork was delicious. Service was great as well! The whole staff is very welcoming and very friendly while I was waiting for my friends to arrive. Thank you for being such a good memory for my friends trip, I'll definitely be back.

Solid experience, walked in without a reservation for a late Sunday lunch…read more Beautiful restaurant Accommodated a table for 2 Nice selection of wine and alcohol. Service was excellent The potato croquettes stuffed with Taleggio were decadent, well done The Cacio e Pepe was very good The lasagna was the star, outstanding rendition. Outstanding flavors with each bite. The bread service was nothing special, I did not care for the whole wheat bread, the olive oil that accompanied the bread wasn't seasoned and middle of the road as it relates to quality. Now that the restaurant has a much more expansive dining space (following renovations and expanding the backs) it's slightly easier to get a table and I noticed that a decent amount of spots at the bar, reserved for walk-ins, were open when we arrived promptly for our 5:15PM reservation. The classics, including the fried artichokes, were all great and we ended up sharing 3 appetizers, 3 pastas and a meat entree which left us stuffed with barely enough room for dessert. I found that the lasagna was my favorite - despite being a massive slice was the perfect level of rich, flavorful and meaty. The other pastas were also amazing, include the pappardelle and cacio e Pepe but we found that the cacio e Pepe was the standout. It was the perfect blend of peppery without being overpowering and was the right amount of food. I think ultimately we could have done without the rabbit and side of potatoes (i.e. fries) but it's a solid dish if you want a proper portion of meat as most of the pastas are vegetarian. Finally, the dessert, a unique cookie roll (lovingly called a salami by our waiter) was pretty interesting though a bit thick and rich. Overall, an excellent Italian spot and deserving of the pain of getting a reservation!

I would suggest other patrons do a little research beforehand if you are unfamiliar with Italian wines. Wait staff did not speak English so we had to wait for the owner to get off his phone call, as he was the only one getting orders and closing bills. Expect the experience to take at least an hour 30 min if you are going before the show. It was nice that it came pre-sliced. Branzino (3/5) $44: A lackluster filet fish with little flavor on an even smaller portioned dish. This was the biggest disappoint of the entrees Stracotto alla Toscana (5/5) ($45): This was by far the best dish of the night.
