I still know Pepe's Mexican Cafe' as Pepe Taco! They have been in this location since I was a child. The owners are as good as people come. They are a family that puts their community first. Though I no longer live in Bryan, I have to drop by when I am in town. So many great childhood memories here... Upon arriving, we met Chip (the owner) outside cleaning tables. We struck up a conversation with him and it was immediately apparent that he cared about his bushiness and customers. He explained how he wanted his Taco's to be the best tasting and affordable in the area. I could see that this business is family to him. I really enjoyed our conversation. We went inside and ordered our food. And just as soon as we sat, the order was out. We had Tacos, Chalupas and Burritos. I don't know why, but I only order bean burritos with extra onions here. The have really good refried beans with the sweet crunch of onions. I will never stop by without one of these! The Taco and Chalupas were also really very good. In fact, we ordered another taco and it was out the window before I could turn around! Last, I was surprised at the food total for three people. It was like nine dollars and change. I don't know how you'd beat that! I hope you'll give these good folks a try and keep a local monument to the community going for many, many more years. read more

I got the taco burger, a pork tamale, and a chalupa and some chips and salsa. I never got the chips only the salsa, but after I tried the salsa with the other food I wouldn't have wanted it anyways. Everything I got was flavorless no matter how much salsa I put on it. NEVER get the tamale it was sooo tiny. I only did the drive thru so I can't speak much about the cleanliness but the lady taking my order was impatient and less than welcoming. Overall I won't be coming back unless I am drunk because it is walking distance from my house. read more

Great food, after but be wary when they ask whether you want a receipt if you pay with a credit card, because if you decide on no receipt, the personnel after 3pm will add the highest tip amount (3%) to the final amount due. The actually price on the restaurant menu is different from the one they posted on their website. I think they increased their price recently and did not update the website. Could have give a 4 if the price wasn't a surprise. Me and my friend ordered queso pie and fish tacos. The queso pie taste average bc the queso here is just as normal. It should contain chili, but I did not taste it. The fried fish in the fish taco is tasty and I really like it. However, the tortilla is cold and dry. read more

Ordered thru Favor, on their app there is not a place to order Pepe's famous chips and queso. If you order queso you get a small plastic container but no chips!! Although I have had good and bad experience the food itself never disappoints, just very glad he finally has a friendly staff! read more

Best cheap Mexican food. Fast and great service especially the owner always has a smile even during rush hour. Their chicken wraps are my go tos, basically an updated taco on a big tortilla. We went through the drive thru last week and ordered a taco salad, chicken fiesta salad, and beef burrito. The taco salad had meat, beans, olives, and a few tomatoes. NO lettuce or cheese. The chicken fiesta salad became a chicken fajita salad with honestly 2 pieces of meat, olives, and some lettuce only. Luckily the beef burrito was okay. I am from Bryan and have been going to Pepe's since it opened so needless to say we were extremely disappointed. The food and service have been declining since the pandemic but this was totally unacceptable. Needless to say we won't be going back for a while. read more

Since we last been to Pepe's this place has changed dramatically for the worse. The place looks rundown and a sight for sore eyes. Even noticing that, we still ordered. I recently came to eat here for the first time at the recommendation of a long standing local resident. I enjoyed it very much and have been back twice on my own in the month since. Somewhat like fast food tex mex but w more flare, flavor, fresher ingredients and shall I dare say home cooking. I have only eaten their super taco, super burrito, queso burrito and super tostada but all are remarkably good. The tostada and taco actually remind me of some of my moms cooking growing up w its simplicity and obviously fresh chopped ingredients. The red sauce is good and has a tad of sweetness to it that makes it almost addicting. The portions are large and the prices are low. I will admit that the inside decor is a bit old and nothing to marvel at but its not a deal breaker for a foodie like me as I enjoy the old school atmosphere and super friendly service. read more

Very underwhelming experience. Their queso is similar to nacho cheese you get at a ballgame. I've never been a big fan of olives in tex mex but that's more of a personal thing. The price and the speed are the only reason for the extra star. After taking a few minutes to decide what we wanted, we alerted the employee taking orders we were ready. She walked over, grabbed her phone next to the register and started texting, leaving us awkwardly waiting for her to take our order. But when she finally rung up our order it was less than a minute before our number was called. So walking in, they have displayed on their window "award winning salsa." I didn't know they gave out Razzies for salsa. It tasted like they took pizza sauce and replaced the oregano and basil with cumin. Who puts sugar in salsa?? Other reviewers compare this place to Taco Bell and Taco Cabana and I would have to agree. Bland, fast and cheap. If you want TexMex there are far better places in town, maybe not for as cheap. But for me, if I'm going to eat that many calories, I better enjoy it. read more
