First impression was horrible customer service. It's taking them over 5 hours to do an oil change. Told me it would be done at 6:15-6:30. I called at 7, the guy told me they are just finishing and to come in 15 mins. It is now 7:30 and I am still here waiting for my car. I walk up to the office no one come to greet me or ask if I need help. I have to yell "excuse me" over them cleaning to even get someone's attention. I'm sorry your busy but don't tell me it's almost done and I come and you are still working on it. It also doesn't hurt to greet your paying customers. After leaving this review I spoke to one of the mangers I think. He name was Matt. After talking to Matt and voicing my frustration. He went out of his way to apologize even discounted my oil change to show he really was sorry. He called me today to apologize again. That showed me they do care about there customers. I am a strong believer in second chances (at least in this case!) After a really harsh review, I was contacted by the Manager Matt at Pep Boys. Matt apologized for the less than satisfactory service I recently received. He wanted turn things around and promised that customer service is what I would get given the opportunity. Well today I can say that I can recommend this location of Pep Boys after all. Not only did I get what I needed, I got it at a price that made sense, and Matt even throw in some perks, and I really did not expect them at all. Now my Xterra looks great again with the new set of tires. Thanks Matt for going beyond my expectation; locating these tires, get them ordered within a day and schedule the install at the time it was convenient for me without loosing work time or weekend time for that matter. Just another side note, seems that Matt and I have something in common; the love for flying. He wants to get his pilot license. Booked an appt two days in advance at 9am for 4 tire replacements with balance and 5year alignment. Showed up at 8:55am and they didn't open the door until 9:10... thought there were a lot of walk-ins but found out there were 10 appts booked at 9am and only 4 people working... so my car took them over 2hours for a 40min job... they were extremely messy with the tire lube and didn't wipe it clean, doesn't want to come off now and looks like I drove through seagull poop. Price was fair and service was friendly and apologetic but there was no compensation even though the wait was their own fault for overbooking and opening late... Bought the 5year unlimited alignment as part of the package so I will give it another try after my next oil change.. might just be a faulty appt system and one of those mornings. Took my daughter's car for an oil change and tire rotation, about $82. The service manager, Craig Stein called when it was done and recommended a new engine air filter and cabin air filter, which I would normally just do myself. But he said it would only raise the price to $107 and change, which I thought sounded great so I said go ahead. When he called again to say that was done, suddenly the price was $148. He claimed he was only quoting me the engine air filter at $107, but we absolutely were talking about replacing both. Our family has 4 cars and none of them will be serviced here again. read more

I've been a customer of pep boys through multiple cars, spanning multiple decades. Probably 20 years now? I've never been dismissed and treated so poorly as I was by Harold today. I made an appt on the website because I've been told that appts are necessary at this location. When I made my appt there were at least 6 more appt times available (I made the appt the night before). I was 10 minutes late for my appt and Harold said that he had given my appt away and my oil change + wheel alignment would take at least 5 1/2 hours or possibly until the next day. I asked if I could make a different appt (because there were so many available on the website) and he said he was booked until at least next week. I said I guess I'll go somewhere else then and he didn't care one iota about losing my business. I started walking away and then checked the website just to see if anything would pop up. I walked back and said "hey it looks like you've got 3, 3:30, 4 and 4:30 available today. Can I come back at one of these times?" He said that wasn't true - that he was totally booked and had no availability. His tone became very rude/irritable at that time and I asked "is the appointment website inaccurate then?" He said he didn't know, stopped making eye contact and told me to have a nice day - essentially dismissing me out the door. I said "you don't seem like you want to accommodate or help me at all." He spouted off some more rude stuff about how he only has 3 guys working and no availability. I have never had an experience like that in my 20 years of business with Pep Boys and am completely done with this location. Harold should not be working in anything customer service related until he has a complete attitude adjustment. This experience was horrific. I take full responsibility for being 10 minutes late and would have happily rescheduled, but he didn't have to be completely rude and unaccommodating. read more

2 1/2" drop to my Acura RSX & I needed a wheel alignment stat. Prior to this location, I tried 3 different wheel alignment spots & all 3 places were unsuccessful in doing so.. So you can assume my patience was at an all time low & I was getting tired & fed up of the whole situation. Came here, dropped my car off. There was an issue w/ stock parts in my car & the issues & concerns of lowering my car (a lot of blah blah that I really don't want to get into because honestly I don't even know all the details myself) & they were REALLY helpful. Matt, the store manager, was very patient & explained everything in detail, even when there was an addition concern w/ my alignment, I think he saw the frustration on my face despite not knowing my previous experiences.. & he was able to handle it for me. I got phone calls (for updates) & even bugged/called them a few times throughout the day & they all stayed really patient w/ me, despite how busy they were (They had a full lot.) They were ALL really nice & friendly. James, Gio/Giovanni (I think they're the same person because Gio answered the phone, but Giovanni helped me at the register. Name tag, lol), & There was another gentleman that was really sweet, helpful & friendly named Pedro. He was more of a tech than customer service rep. I think. I definitely recommend them to anyone & everyone. They have beat competition prices by %5 (Seriously, like.. Perfect!!) & their customer service is beyond anything - especially of what I've been experiencing the past 2 weeks & i didn't even have to list off the negatives, they were able to just handle the situation & i drove off the lot HAPPILY (& I mean really, that's kinda what everyone aims for.) read more

We were told that our vehicle would be picked up in half an hour(also posted on their website) and a hour later we decided to call them because they hadn't showed up. They said that the driver was coming from up North. That would have been nice to know from the beginning. Then when working on your car, they give you a estimate on time and take longer without letting you know. If you don't mind your time wasted, this is the place. read more

1star only because I can't leave 0! This location is pure TRASH ! from the manager Harold to the workers ! I brought my car in two weeks ago and told them there was a leak in my a/c line or condenser because my car wasn't blowing cold air. They insisted there was no leak after checking and that my fluids were low (kept my car the entire weekend just to put coolant) They put fluid in my car and charged $169. Well guess what??? Two weeks later I had the same problem I brought the car back which was "covered under warranty" and they said they found a small leak in my condenser and wanted to charge $900 to fix it. I told them no thanks because they misdiagnosed the car the last time!! This place is a joke and by far the worst pep boys I've ever been to. Oh and the only thing that was covered under warranty was "diagnosis" which is $60 ! RIP OFF !!! read more

Update 7/16/2015 I worked with Matt today. He was really patient scheduling a followup, even though I flaked a couple of times. I was impressed with him. I think it takes a lot of character to admit a mistake and correct it. He did exactly that. In fact, he went above and beyond. In person he seemed sincerely concerned about his store's reputation, and he wanted me to come back. When I originally wrote this review, I gave them a one-star. Since then, my opinion has changed somewhat. While I would still consider them average (a few good experiences, and a few bad ones), I'm willing to continue our relationship. Who knows, maybe one day they'll earn a five star rating. Update 7/3/15 I received a call from the manager, Matt. He was on vacation during my visit. He seemed sincerely dissapointed in my experience and insisted on fixing the wheel. I added a star to the original review. To be continued... Original Post I've utilized this location twice, and I've dumped about 1,000 hard earned dollars there. Maybe I should have learned the first time... I have a 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP. I got a flat on a Sunday and, this is where they earn a star, they were the only place open nearby. So I brought it to them. Their employee said the wheel was damaged. Because Pontiac no longer exists, and the lug pattern is rare, my flat tire costed me 800 bucks. Not Pep Boys fault they couldn't find a new wheel, but it was there fault it took them three days. No exaggeration. I had a bad taste in my mouth after that encounter, but I know they weren't to blame for me breaking a rare wheel. About three months later I brought in the same car for an oil change and tire rotation. They showed me a place mat with the price clearly displayed: $99.00. Seemed expensive, especially since i just bought the tires from them. Big O rotates their tires for free, as do many customer service minded establishments. I left the car and returned in about two hours. The employee said, "Did anyone call you about the lug nut?" Apparently one of my lug nuts was missing and the threads were striped. He said, "Maybe someone stole it." He said they could fix it the following day for 60 dollars. At first I wished they'd have called so I could have authorized the repair and avoided a return trip. Now that I'm in my right mind, they aren't getting another dime from me. No one stole my lug nut. I park in a garage at home and at work. And the lugs require a special tool to remove. Plus, no one steals one lug not. What, they didn't have big enough pockets for two? Why not take the whole wheel? Not to mention, anyone that has ever turned a wrench knows you don't strip threads un-screwing a bolt. You strip threads by trying to force a bolt that's cross threaded... during install. It doesn't take a Baker St. Detective to realize they striped the bolt during install. They probably assumed as much too. "Stolen!" Ha! A reputable business would fix their mistake. Not displace blame. Did i mention they charged me $118? I know CA doesn't charge 18% sales tax. When I asked about the price they said i got a deal because they didn't rotates the tires. Because they couldn't. Their policy doesn't allow them to when someone is missing a lug nut. Even if the missing lug was likely their fault. They explained the price by saying my windshield wipers were more expensive than anticipated. Well, how about a price range then, instead of a sign with the flat price of $99. If your money and time aren't important to you, go ahead and bring your car to Pep Boys. read more

I'm given five stars to Matt and his crew at Pep Boys in Spring Valley. They did a phenomenal job, and overcame some serious hurdles to get my car to stop sounding like it was rattling apart. Even though it took a few attempts, and a couple more parts, Matt stayed longer than his day required and work personally on my vehicle to make sure that the problem got solved. Their troubleshooting skills are top-notch, and they were able to finally identify the parts that needed to be fixed to make my customers happy. Cheers to you guys. read more

So I go down the road to the cheap alignment place I usually go to (stupid cheap actually) and I take their quote over to Pep boys. What a laugh I had as the boss man scratched his head, and I'm sure I heard someone next to him say, "how we going to discount almost free..." Well they did and I walked away with a "professionally" done alignment and some other work for cheap-cheap. Sad the world has come to this. Found my go to local spot. James & Johnny are both beyond helpful. I called around trying to get pricing & availability to replace a cabin air filter on my 2016 Tahoe. The pricing here was significantly better than the other spots I called unfortunately the part wasn't available today (my day off) but they could have it tomorrow. I've been trying to find a few minutes to get this done for the last month+ and when I explained that James provided another solution. I was able to get the part & when I didn't have the tools to install it Johnny on the spot came thru & helped me take care of it. Had a bad experience for my first and last time with this Pep Boys. Took my car in to get my tires balanced and rotated. Price was good. But what they did was only rotate my hub caps. I had my tires marked and I also had each tire set to a specific pressure and they all remained the same after I picked the car up (43LF 35RF 52LR 53RR). Even the way they rotated the hub caps wasn't proper. It's unfortunate that places like this take advantage of peoples kindness. If you go there, I do hope it goes better for you. read more

I came here to get my brakes inspected and changed. They were going to charge me $400 for the brakes alone but adding the shoes it was going to be about $532 and so I said OK I need to come back and move some stuff around I went to another mechanic had them look at my brakes to see how much it would cost and he said you don't need these things changed at all you still have about 60% Pep Boys lied just to make a profit. Tell me a story about how a lady went to Pep Boys and she was going to get charged $1000 to do her breaks the same mechanic I did and she walked out of paying $450. Moral of the story don't go to Pep Boys they just going to up charge you like crazy read more

Village of idiots, had my brake rotors turned and it looked like they did it with a hatchet. I've turned drums and rotors myself and know what the results are when you try to mill the rotors in one pass, gouged out metal, deep groves..the rotors looked better before I took them in and the worst part is they ground off damn near all the disc. read more

I took my vehicle here and was told the tow there would be paid for by the manager Matthew and none of his employees were told about it. I had to call every hour just to check if they had started to work on it and they said they couldn't for three weeks. Because their master technician wasn't going to be in for two day and they also gave the excuse of in order to fix my vehicle they'd have to take out the engine and many other parts... save yourself some time, don't go here and go somewhere else. It took him 10 minutes between trying to do his job and talking to the lady about how he's a fan of Star Wars, he even showed her his collection on his phone. Obviously he was trying so hard to impress her he was asking if she plays soccer and asking some personal stuff. Totally unprofessional. I can tell the lady in front of me is feeling uneasy. She's probably only in her teens, so I stepped in and told him to have a look at my order just to break his momentum. Customer service is superb. And whenever there's a miscommunication (which is few and far in between), he makes sure to amend this. He takes good care of his customers. Mind you, Pep Boys really don't do Transmissions, but since I have been a customer for several years, he made sure it was taken care of while I was out of the country on vacation. I am highly upset and disappointed in their service. I brought my vehicle in for service because it kept overheating , they told me it was because it needed oil so they did an oil change and charged me 80 for a diagnostic that was supposed to help tell them how to fix the problem. I picked up my car expecting everything to be fixed but as soon as I turned my car on the fan was still loud, I expressed to the technicians that it's the same noise it made when my car overheated and that it doesn't sound like they fixed the problem . They assured me the issue was fixed and that maybe it's the radiator even though they never mentioned this before they did service on my vehicle or before I paid. I've been to plenty of repair shops in my long life and have no need to go anywhere else. I have been going here for over 5 years now. These guys are HONEST and very helpful! They actually told my 83 year old father in law who thought he needed brake pads that they were just fine and they were! For me and the 5 cars we have had them work on, all work was done perfectly and priced just right. I compared prices and they are the best and of course they don't do what doesn't need to be done! Ok, so we had an issue with a repair that no one detected until several months had passed. It was a very odd issue too. We took the car back and talked to Matt, the manager, who was the most professional manager I have ever dealt with. Not once did he blame anyone but instead did his research and had the issue resolved to our benefit! Not sure we would have had the same professional service elsewhere. I had an appt at noon today. I was early got there about 11:35. Was told they would pull my car into the bay a little before noon. About 10 minutes after noon they pulled my car into the bay. And it sat there with nothing being done for 30 minutes. At 40 minutes AFTER my appt time. I told them to pull my car out of the bay. And I went to Jiffy Lube.
