I highly recommend this place. They were upfront and honest with my vehicle needs I appreciate them and will return read more

This place is one of those that you can't judge by the looks!! Initially its seems out of control until you stop and see what's going. I did a Groupon for a radiator flush and fill for the Vette. And got an alignment for my 18 yrs son's as a BDAY present because his car was in need of some TLC!! The value we did receive from this place was more than that!!! I called in to schedule an appointment for the requested services I was given a date and time to show. When I showed up and checked in with the normal information. I received an explanation of the process that they take your vehicle through. You not only get what you originally requested you get so much more!!! It's like a check up for the entire system. Basically check up that tells you about your vehicle vitals. The value on that is PRICELESS. They will email or print the results for you and go over what they with you to ensure you know what repairs are needed or not. Plus they will tell you what's going good with your vehicle So you aware before you they have small area and a bathroom if you choose to wait. And the quoted time for the work can vary, depends on what work is being done. From my last service there with my now 18 year old son. Parking on the street for your appointment is best because there maybe other cars that have to move making room to get in and out of the bays. What I do know is the value received is epic!! So it's like I always say try it you may just like it's. read more

They took really good care of me. I went in for an alignment and they did an all over check for me for free and let me know I needed a few small things to be fixed. They showed me pictures of their work and showed me pictures of the things I needed. They are all very helpful! Especially ed and FRANSISCO!!!! They all took care of me and made me feel important! Will definitely be coming back here again! read more

Performance Specialties - Here in the waiting room waiting for my car to be finished! - Auto Repair Near Me - Spring Valley, California

Got my car in to my get my serpentine belt replaced because it came off. I was told my car had a "oil leak" from the oil filter housing, and it would be $1500 to get that and my belt replaced. I hesitated on the "oil leak" getting fixed because I had not seen that before. When I picked up my car they showed me a leak on the filter and were extremely vague and why it was leaking and said it needed to be fixed or I'd destroy my engine later to find all I needed to do was replace the oil filter cap...$45 part btw. On top of their dishonest work my car is now misfiring! Was not doing that at ALL prior to belt problem. When I brought that up, they said they'd need to charge me another diagnostic! Never come here, rude, sarcastic techs, and dishonest work. read more

Excellent Service - Highly Recommend! I found this shop through Groupon and had a great experience. Even though I arrived late to my appointment, they were very understanding and still accepted me without any issues. The team was professional, kind, and took the time to explain everything about the tire rotation and alignment after they finished the service. I really appreciated how transparent they were. Great value, great customer service. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

I drove an hour to get there to have work done on my car I drove up to the parking area to have my car repaired I was yelled at by the service guy a few times to stop my car which I did it's a very tight parking area I have a large vehicle so I stopped parked it went to walk up to the office sign the little white office sign with an arrow in the back is a little desk where the owner said I'm right here which I couldn't see that good I decided to leave and I was very disappointed my advice is park on the street if you can find parking which I couldn't and then walk up to the little white sign and wait for them to come to you. read more

Good prices, and alignments are on point here. I highly recommend this place for automotive needs, any future repairs needed will definitely be coming back here. read more

Came in after finding them on Groupon. They honored the rate and did a routine inspection on the truck. They go above and beyond for quality work. Thank you. read more

fransico helped me fix my door that wouldn't open for no cost at all this is a trusted place to come too !

Bought a Groupon for a coolant flush and they did a once over on my car telling me I needed a new axle seal because it was leaking. I was given a quote of $330 parts and labor, ok fine do it. Once they got it apart they called me and said I'll need an entire new axle, bearings, and seals, and brakes, now the price is $1400. I reluctantly agreed and asked if they have financing which he (Francisco) said yes. I looked up their website for in house credit and the company charges 129% interest! I got my own card through my bank. When I came back to get the repair done I heard a noise in my engine and it was the top to the radiator getting chewed up in the belt red flag #1. I brought it to Francisco's attention and he was completely dismissive, essentially saying oh well. When I got my car back the 2nd time they failed to secure my center wheel cap which flew off on the freeway and I had to replace for $75. I called the shop, spoke to Francisco about both incidences of their incompetence and he apologized and offered to replace the part, and reimburse me for the wheel cover. At the end of the day, I texted him multiple times, and now he ghosted me! Avoid this place like the plague! Their labor rate is way too high, they marked up my parts an exorbitant amount, and did shoddy work. Save yourself the headache of dealing with this shop!! read more

Overall great experience. As we know, most auto shops are untrustworthy, but not this place. Needed an alignment and new tires mounted. Ed helped me out over the phone. Got me an appointment the next day. All the staff was professional and they not only gave me a great price, their work was above and beyond. I will definitely use and recommend them in the future! read more

I failed my smog test and when I went to the dealer, they quoted $4k for the repairs. The mechanics at Performance specialities are honest and trustworthy. My smog check is good and I paid a fraction of what I would've paid at Subaru dalton. read more

My BMW 635CSI is a 1985 with just under half a million original miles with original everything. This shop has fixed everything it needed at a very fair price. When issues or options need to be discussed they are always upfront about the issues and which options should be considered for repairs. At this point I have 6 cars that this shop takes care of for me and I have full confidence in their quality service and fair pricing. It's all about the value and they definitely get it! read more

Performance Specialities is the best! I have been bringing my cars here for 10 years and have always had a great experience. As a woman, it can be difficult to find a mechanic that you can trust. They are honest, work hard, and will give you a fair price. I highly recommend them. read more

Great service ! The owner was great , personable and genuine man. Ed was great at explaining the service I was getting, reasons or probable causes. This shop gives you PICTURES of YOUR actual vehicle under belly to show you the the good , the bad and the ugly. All in text and at the moment. I should mention I had the wheel rotation and alignment. Great service, great system to educate their customers. If there was a 10 star I'd give it to them!!!! read more

I didn't like the price (who does?), but my car runs better than ever! Thankful for the service it was much appreciated. Only complaint is I should not have to call to receive updates it should be a given. I would take another car here in the future though. read more

I had several items addressed: oil change, replace front break pads and replacement of control arms both sides, alignment and fuel injection service. Car is steering and braking better, there was a vibration issue and it turned out to be a wheel balance problem but they took care of it. I would recommend Performance Specialties to anyone that is looking to get a good value and service. read more

The honesty of the business!!! Customer service is good as well. Thought I was going to have to pay at least 1k for the issue I originally took my bmw in for. Come to find out it was only 2 hoses that had not been put back in place from the place that had looked at my car months before. Only paid for the diagnostic! I have since referred others to Performance and they are very pleased as well. This is definitely my go to place going forward. read more

I am very satisfied with the work done by Performance Specialties. I will continue to use this shop for all of my auto repairs. Correct diagnosis, fast service and keeps me on the road!! read more

We took our truck in for a problem to Performance Specialties after a month of another shop not being able to fix the problem. Performance Specialties, diagnosed, repaired our truck in a few days and we were on the road again even hooking up our trailer and heading out camping. Our truck runs great now, problem solved and Ernie , (owner) was a pleasure to work with and helped us every step of the way. We highly recommend Performance Specialties! We will take all vehicles here for repair, we are beyond satisfied!! read more

Performance Specialties - Sticking valve - Auto Repair Near Me - Spring Valley, California

Absolutely one of the worst mechanics in the area! I had a problem with my brakes, they recommended and performed a brake fluid flush as well as a "comprehensive vehicle inspection" , only to have the brakes totally fail and go all the way down to the floor 2 months later. Again they recommended and supposedly changed the master cylinder the next time (charging the full amount, even more than anyone else I checked) and kept the vehicle all day on both occasions only to have the master cylinder fail within 4 months of their "work"! I brought back the master cylinder they "replaced" to try to get a refund as there was a 2 year 24,000 mile warranty 1 week ago and I am still waiting to hear from them. I wouldn't recommend them to a dog catcher!! They may have made money off of me, but WILL NEVER again!! read more

This is My 3rd review about Performance specialties. I don't want to go into my 1st review about them but just to let everyone know, The 4800 and something dollars they charge me to fix my 87 Chevy Camaro. The check engine light still came on after driving off of their property 2 miles away. Bobby the mechanic gave me a bottle of emissions cleaner to put in my gas tank with Chevron gas which I have always used in my car. I've owned this car for 32 years. Since I left them the bad review a few weeks ago I did receive a call from Bobby telling me that they warranty their work. There is no way in hell I would ever bring my car back to this company. I am still trying to drive my car even though the check engine light is on and I have expired tags and it won't pass the smog. I tried driving it to work seaworld drive getting on to 5 South going to Coronado. As soon as I got on to the freeway the car completely shut down. I was in the 2nd to the left lane. 5:30 in the morning otherwise I would have been killed. The tow truck driver came out my car has been diagnosed with the The fuel pump that performance specialties replaced and charged me $1200 for went out. I was almost hit 4 different times in the middle of the freeway by different vehicles. I'm contemplating taking this company to court. This makes me sick to my stomach what they did to me. And then they have the audacity to tell me their work is warranty and to bring my car back. read more

Expensive but very good work. The service crew was very responsive to my calls and seem to work well with each other. The bay was clean and efficient and all of the equipment was stored inside for the night. I like this place. I think it's going to be my go to from now on from my bike. read more

Any time we have need of mechanical work on either of our cars, we take them here first. The guys at Performance Specialties are fantastic! They are all very knowledgable and don't try to convince you to do things that are not really necessary. Even though they are always busy, it rarely takes more than a day to get the work done, and is always less expensive than we think it will be. Ernie knows how to run a "well oiled" shop (pun intended) with honesty and integrity. As long as we're in the San Diego area, we will always take our vehicles to him to get them fixed correctly the first time. read more

When getting work done on your car, finding a knowledgeable mechanic who will tell you the truth is what's most important. That's what I get when I come to Performance Specialties, which is why I've been coming here for years! Thanks guys for all the good work and excellent service! read more

Great work! They persevered until they figured out why the gas stuttered and stopped. Test drove it several times! Even added gas to the car to try to figure out the problem. I would deal with them any time! I trust them !! They even picked me up to come get the car. Wonderful service and very friendly too. read more

Only reason I gave one star is cause I couldn't choose less! What a bunch of shady people they got working here. They are THEE definition of why consumers don't trust mechanics! I wasted 3 days here waiting on a broken promise. Guess a mans word means nothing here. In the end, they ruined their reputation because they associate themselves with shady Persian car salesmen! Do NOT go here, they lie and are really irresponsible. If they were straight shooters, then customers would know what to expect....SO THEY ARE NOT DESERVING of the FAKE high ratings. read more

Terrible. Maybe the owner is nice but his mechanics are irresponsible. Send me off with fuel lines leaking on my engine. My husband caught it. They had wanted to duct tape the fuel lines. Whah???? read more

Pretty good. Sometimes their parts seem to be overpriced however sometimes they are cheaper then everywhere else in town. Honest, the only reason why they don't get 5 stars is because they always seem to take FOREVER to call me back. read more

My family has used this place for years. They are fair, reliable and average pricing. Give them a try.

Quality service. Will give advice on how to do repairs yourself to save you some cash and great about holding vehicle without "storage fees" until you get paid if needed. Perfect for poor folk like us : ) read more

Took a car here once; got overcharged for a clutch replacement but whatever. Ever since they've been frequently texting asking me to bring my car in as if they are in need of business. Well, every time I have a repair to get done and I hit them back, they either never respond, or they get back to me with a ridiculous price to get the repairs done. So I blocked their number and I'm done with them. I'm not recommending them to anyone and I will steer people clear from this place every chance I get. In business since 1974? Do better then, if you care about your reputation at all that is. read more

This is a family business and they are all very knowledgable. Ernie takes the time to explain the issue and even show you a part that they are replacing and why it's worn out, broken etc. They (in my experience) can take a little longer than normal but that is replaced by quality service at a low cost. I am okay with this approach. They generally start (when troubleshooting) at the cheapest fix and work up from there; all the while keeping costs low for the person bringing in their vehicle. Overall I'm impressed with Ernie and team. I continue to take my cars here. read more

We have been going to this place for the last 10 years. Ernie and his team always takes good care of our cars. The price is spot on and service is always done with a smile. On February, I had to bring my car because of bad back brakes. It was unplanned. I told the mechanic that I needed the car by 4:15 because of an already scheduled event and they had it ready by then. I highly recommend this place. read more

Have used these guys for years. Reasonable. Very honest. Easy to talk to and explain everything in detail. I have also used them for Smog Checks for the past few times. It is not the cheapest price for a smog test, but well worth the extra care and the assurance of honesty -- no repairs will be suggested that are not necessary. read more

If I could give 10 I would. GREAT GREAT GREAT. My sister and I met Ernie (father) and he took our rig in and evaluated it and taught us what he was doing and WHY. Not once did he ever look down on us like a lot of mech do to women. But treated us with dignity respect and most of all honesty. We will be lifelong clients. I have full confidence in his suggestions and work. Really excited about finding this jewel of a place. read more
