Another review, as I just had one of the best interactions, EVER, with this location... My daughter's car had a coil pack replaced in Starkville, MS on December 10. On January 5, the car started running rough again, so we dropped the car off for service. They called on Monday to tell me that the new coil pack had "gone bad." After some discussion (I didn't want to pay for something that was still under warranty) and a few phone calls to the mechanic in Starkville, they were able to warranty the coil pack and replace it for no charge. Chris, Janet and the rest of the crew were courteous and very understanding. They went that "extra distance" to help insure that we were given the best treatment possible. This is why we will continue to use them for all tire and mechanical work - they are highly customer focused! read more

After they did me wrong multiple times, I decided to give Pep Boys a try. I was not disappointed! I needed some new tires, and they set me up with a great set at a great price. I took my SUV in at 9 in the morning, with a 6-cylinder engine that felt like it was running on 3 of them. I honestly thought that it was the end of the line for the old girl (2003 vehicle with 225,000 miles). Not only did they diagnose and fix the problem, they had it done by 5 PM on the same day! It's always an awesome experience when you take your car to the service shop- and return your car missing 2 of your Hoonigan valve stem covers and they give you 2 generic ones so that your wheels no longer are all matching. So much for being able to take and trust a simple 2 tire mount job to a place with a name like Pep Boys. Definitely won't be taking this car back, nor taking our other vehicles back. It may sound petty- but people don't go out and spend money for aesthetics for their vehicles to get crappy ass plastic generics in return. Highly not recommended. Will not try again. Very friendly staff very scammy service. Took my 2014 Ford focus 76,000 miles in because the AC was not working. Spent a week waiting on parts, then spent almost a thousand dollars for a new compressor install. The next morning wife drove car to work and the AC still not working. Returned car to Pep Boys and after three days they call me and tell me it needs a 59 dollar condenser and another grand for the install. read more

I was not a priority; a customer with a confirmed appt that was set 48hrs ago. I needed an alignment done. I got told "we don't do appts for mechanical issues." OK.... then why was I able to make an appt? "Oh that's just the website. We don't really use those appt slots. Just bring it in first thing when we open is your best bet." I can't do that. That's why I made an appt. That's why I made an appt two days ago. I ended up leaving it and getting a ride. I took my car to Pepboys in Niceville Florida as my tire would not hold air. I assumed I needed a plug or a patch as the tire is only 6 months old. They called me and said there was no nail, and that i had internal sidewall damage. So, I took the tire to the dealership for warranty repair. As soon as they took the tire off, not only did they find the nail, but Pepboys of Niceville circled the puncture on the inside of the tire. I have been without my car for two weeks over this incompetence and lack of integrity. They tried to get me to buy a new tire instead of just patching the hole, THAT THEY CIRCLED INSIDE THE TIRE, and bold faced told me there was no nail. Made an appointment at 10:00am for an oil change. Confirmation came at 10:03am. Arrive 15 minutes early for our 1pm appointment to be rudely told they were too busy and that unless we were dropping off, it would be too long a wait. All this after I was yelled at for walking on a wet floor where there was no wet floor signs. I understand ppl get busy or under staffed or whatever, but was not the customers fault. They could of just shown a little more courtesy and we would of understood. Or at least a phone call. The guy at the counter claimed he just got our reservation..... @ 12:45? Took in a tire to have the valve core replaced, young man who waited on me was cordial, store only had to break down tire and install valve stem, .95 at most any auto parts store, however the price to me was $20, what a ripoff. When I returned to pick up tire, 4 employees were in the reception area and finally after about 30 seconds, the manager decided to greet me. I was taught many years ago by Goodyear to greet every customer when they entered busy or not, at least acknowledge. So many younger people today know nothing about friendly customer service. My wife scheduled an appt for service and we received confirmation. Store canceled our service at the last minute because I was working and could not answer a phone call. We didn't even find out this was their practice until my wife called after we got the cancellation email. No warning, no message saying they would cancel. No email that this was their policy. My vehicle's air conditioning decided to start blowing hot air. I wasn't able to get to the shop that I know, trust and normally patronize and, since I work near this Pep Boys and had a moment, I thought I'd let them look at it. They came back to me with a list of close to $700 worth of work they said needed to be done, either fixing this and/or replacing that. Knowing how some mechanics often try to dupe women, I decided to wait until I could get to my regular shop and let them have a look. Turns out all I needed was Freon. they are too busy. They cannot handle any more customers. I stopped by no less than four times to have them check a tire they put on my car because it's losing air. Only on the last occasion could I even find a parking space. They can't even look at the tire unless I drop the car off, leave, and come back at at a future time. Great customer service, very honest and reliable. When it's something they can't fix they're honest and recommend you to a local mechanic who might be able to. They estimated a fix of my to be around $1500. So I ordered the part and went in to replace it. They called me back as they were working on it and said it wouldn't fix the problem and they wouldn't want me to spend all that money to not fix the problem. They could've been tricky liars and not told me anything, but they were honest and fixed the problem for less than half the price. read more

The lack of mechanics in this shop causes the wait times to be pretty long. They had my car for 4.5 hours to do a tire balance and rotation. That wasn't a big deal, until I realized right after I got it done my car started to wobble when I go over 65 mph. I went to have them make sure the balance was ok, since my car has never wobbled like that before and they told me it would be at least 2 hours to look at it. They weren't going to make it first priority when it was a mistake they had made in the first place. read more

I understand that people make mistakes, but I asked before pick up if tires had been rotated and the person at the front desk had told me "yes". I had my truck serviced here a month ago for alignment, rotate/balance and oil change. I drove it for 3 days and it drove very badly. I took it back for them to check the tires again and 3 hours later they assured me everything was ok. Liars! 2 weeks later I noticed my tire alert turned on. I went to check the tire pressure. All 4 tires were set to 22-26 psi. Wtf? This is why it drove so badly. I pumped them up to 33 and they feel much better but now I worry what damage I did to them with 3 weeks of driving under pressure. I'm pissed and will never go back! read more

Friends & family put good reviews on Yelp to counter the lousy ones. Check the pep boys in nearby towns. I used these same (mostly) auto repair workers while it was Big 10. Never had a problem. First time with pep boys and I was ripped off for 76 and change. My keys were snatched. I wasn't given a quote.The man who did this took off for the bay and when I found him, he was standing in the farthest corner, facing the corner. No matter how I yelled for him, I wasn't louder than the noise. My car was held hostage until I came up with more money than the verbal quote. I also overheard the manager (last week) bragging that they "have too much work, nice job on add-ons" to another worker. "Add-ons" is the term used for convincing a car owner they need work that they do not actually need. The manager is a bold faced liar and will tell you anything to get your money. In my 41 years of dealing with car repairs (whether I did it myself or hired it out), this place is the worse, by far, I have ever dealt with. The manager has the managerial skills of a cockroach, looking for every green crumb he can find/lie about/or steal then brags to co-workers about it as though customers aren't standing at the counter. Really, so unbelievable I thought maybe I was on a high school "candid camera". Boy, was I in for a shock. No moral or ethical values at all. None. read more
