Avoid this store for any type of work. Their mechanics are not qualified to do any type of repair. Brought my daughters there for a simple tire install. They put the left wheel back on with only 2 lug nuts which loosened up as she was driving. Thank God she was only on local streets when she heard an odd sound. I apologize for this harsh review but was not a positive experience. Took my car into pep boys about a week ago, they changed my belts along with a few other things. Now to find my car starts up every time with the loudest squeal coming from my belts. The woman who works in the car department with the accent is. Honestly one of the most rude human beings I have ever seen working a customer service job it was Ludicrous! very short responses with an attitude and doesn't explain anything and has absolutely no patience. I get that you may dislike your job but it doesn't mean you have to treat the customers that way. Honestly. The tall black man with a limp is a star! Super friendly and attentive and patient :) good man. All of the mechanics were super nice except at the end they forgot to put my engine cover on and then forgot to put my glove box back in and when I went to get it put back in and they said "you sure that's it?" (Implying there could be more things not put back together?) it threw me off and made me think think like what??? What do they mean is that it. There must've been something else I missed? I also wanted to note that they did not let me know when my car was finished. I planned to go to pep boys to wait until it was done. When I arrived my car was just sitting in the parking lot. Seriously? On another note, good luck getting ahold of the store they will not barley ever answer the phones. Call another location. this place is a joke. They seem annoyed when someone comes in to make them actually do their job. My battery is still under warranty and a simple change of battery is all I needed. Wanted to charge me $40 for installation that would happen the next day. We purchased a set of 4 brand new tires from the Pep Boys website for $842.05 and nowhere on the website does it state we will owe more money. Had the work done at the Lake Worth, Florida Pep Boys and were never told we owed more money. Went to take car and was given an additional charge of $37,73 for misc shop supplies, we paid for everything up front thru the website. with a tire mounting for 4 tires and valve stems included. I've been here twice and both times had good experiences. My most recent visit was last week, I made an appointment online and received a text and email confirmation. I arrived about 15 minutes before my appointment and was assisted immediately, based on the appointment time they confirmed my name. There was one other customer in the waiting area so not too hard to social distance- masks are mandatory and yes they enforce it. I came in for a scheduled oil change and replacement of filters but was notified that my brakes were needing to be replaced. Not planned but also a necessity with the road conditions in SoFla especially during rainy season. Raheem provided a breakdown of what needed to be done and I gave the go-ahead to have it completed. They noticed anther small issue and brought it to my attention as well and were able to fix it. The mechanics, staff in store and manager were professional, thorough and made it a good experience for what it was. On August 31, 2024, my husband and I called Pepboys in Lake Worth, Fl and spoke with Pat, who we have been working with in the past. We told him that the problem we had brought our car for twice already is doing the same thing. He told us to bring it and he would have someone take a look at. My husband and son, took the car and was called back a hour later. The Jamaican mechanic, that was on duty found a different problem. However, the problem was not related to the issue that we were trying to resolve at the time. They told him is this reason why the coolant is still leaking and he said no, so can we do what the problem is first and we can work out the other situation,but The Jamaican mechanic became so, irate and disrespectful even, Pat had to walk away. He would not let us get a word in and he became very combatted. He even, told our son, you not paying for it, so I am not talking to you. He was very nasty man, that just wanted to be right and will not be quite. He was talking all over management, he had know respect for his bosses. Since we had been back and forth about the same issue and paying each time for something different. We felt like it was a switch and bait and they were not operating with integrity. They did not do a pressure test, this is why they could not pin point the area that needed fix and they was just making suggestions and hoping it would get fix, but did not. I don't understand if they are mechanics and they have the tools to do the job, why is it they want to rip off loyal customers and be disrespectful about. I don't understand how a person can be employed by your company and is allowed to continue with the bad behavior. Got 4 brand-new tires replaced in 2020. Long story short, I've been back 6+ different times since then for issues concerning my low tire pressure signal appearing. Most recently, I went back last Thursday after I had supposedly run over "another nail" (for the 4th time in 2 years) and had to get the tire completely replaced. Ok, got it replaced. The very next day my tire pressure sign came on again. Went in today to get to the bottom of it and was told by Abraham and Tony, "it's not our fault you keep running over nails". I asked them to put my car up and show me the nail this time, and sure enough, no nails... They said, "well it could be due to the weather changes recently, we'll fill up your tires and turn off your light and you'll be good". Abraham admitted he was just a temporary manager for the store and seemingly wanted to push my issue over to the next guy. I requested several times they look into the issue further as this is a highly recurrent and highly inconvenient event but both Abraham and Tony persistently refused. My experience today summed up a dismal experience I've had a Pep Boys since day one. As I explained my situation to Tony and Abraham they shared dismissive comments and smirks with each other. The last time I was at a Pep Boys store was in 1984. The store was by the mall off the 405 Fwy in Carson, Ca. Max, a buddy of mine had just come back home and was now stationed at the Naval Base in Long Beach. We took his Maxima in for a maintenance check up. Pep Boys did a great job. They were straightforward. Fast forward 33 years to present day, Florida. On Thursday April 27th at 8:35 pm I found out that I had to be in Cape Coral and Sarasota, Fl for work the next day. Perfect situation to make a west coast Siesta Key and Sarasota weekend with the fam and road trip with our new Chevy Tahoe except that the warning light for the 7000 mile oil change had just come on. It was now 11:30 pm and I went online to look for an early am oil change appt and close by so we could be on the road by 9 am. There was no early appointment available at the dealer 35 minutes away. Found Pep Boys in Lake Worth about 15 minutes east of us and made the first available appt online for 8 am. I arrived at 7:50 am. Got a very nice and warm greeting from the Mgr Eddy. Roshemi joined him at the check in desk at 7:57 am and asked to help me. She was very polite, sharp and thorough. 8:03 am - gave me a 20% Mgrs Discount and grabbed my keys. 8:06 am - my car was the first one in the bay for servicing. 8:14 am - the very cool Eddy brought me and bought me an Espresso from across the street. Who does that? Maybe I looked beat and he felt sorry for my tired ass. Wow indeed! It was a hot and gooooood espresso. 8:37 am - Roshemi updated me and notified me that it would be another 10 minutes or so. 8:46 am - my car was ready. 8:49 am - I was driving home. Loved this experience! 49 minutes flat!! 1) Easy appointment procedure 2) Immediate confirmation e mail 3) Great service and communication while vehicle was being worked on 4) Awesome work 5) Fun, efficient and remarkable staff 6) In and out with a job well done in less than an hour 7) We were in Sarasota by 12:15 pm. Waaaaaaay overpriced. I called for an estimate of how much it would cost to replace just the engine coil pack on a 2005 Saturn Ion and was told they would call me back. I didn't receive that call untill the next morning, by which time I had researched the cost of the same service at other places. What they quoted me was more than double their competitors. They want over $1000 for the job. You can all find better prices than this , folks. My advice? Steer clear. I bought a battery from this location about 2 years ago, I took the battery back in seems like it may have a dead cell. The tech behind the counter ask if I had the receipt from 2 years ago, I said no but I always buy my batteries here you should be able to find me in the system. Clearly not motivated to work or assist, he says Pep Boys was sold and without the receipt there is nothing I can do. Battery has a 3 year replacement warranty guess they are not honoring that. Unfortunately less than year later the car broke down again and upon taking it to a known mechanic, back in CT the problem was never a clutch. It was linkage and ruining clutches. I had dealt with Hamden first, a year later in Florida and finally got the proper job done at home. Avoid as they only accommodate American cars well. A now hiring sign in window should have been my warning. Not to Mention the two month delay in getting it back with no loaners. A costly error twice. Btw unless I committed to $2000 to drop the transmission to ck clutch before fees, they wouldn't do the job yet all parts were under warrantee. Total bill was almost $3500.00. Each time! My debit card went missing in 5 minutes upon returning to see why engine light remained on. I had placed it over visor and not realized they rolled it in the receipt. A NIGHTMARE! After waiting Fir so long I ask the representative was my truck finally ready, only for him to tell me "HE THOUGHT THE TRUCK WAS STAYING OVERNIGHT"? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I replied I am a single mother who also works a typically 9-5 there is no way I can go without my car on such a short notice! Service Manager Nick runs a great service department. I've had a lot of work done there over the years and he has always taken good care of my car. I can honestly state that I've never had a problem or complaint. The work is exceptionally good and it's a fairly priced. If there is something complicated to be done and you choose to wait for it Nick gets it done as quickly as possible. When I find, or feel, there is something major going on with the car, I take it to the dealership, find out what's wrong (in case it's a recall /warranty item) get the price, and then take it to Nick. If it involves a factory part he can usually get it and wait for me has never been longer than 2 to 3 days. The only time I've had to go back to the dealership is if it was something Pep Boys absolutely cannot do. Most recently I went to the dealer because I thought it might be a transmission problem (Pep Boys doesn't do transmission work). I was pretty aggravated when told a road test and motor check(s) would run hundreds of dollars. I called Nick and Pep Boys price is $19.95. Also while talking with the service rep at the dealer, he mentioned "trade-in" three times. That's what I don't like about dealerships...always ready to sell me a new car. By becoming a Pep Boys frequent buyer, I get great discounts on service and parts all the time. read more

The Service Department deserves no Stars. I set up an online appointment to get my battery replaced for 4pm. I arrived at 345 only to be met with a miserable, sourpuss of a man (employee.) As I get up to what I assumed was the check in counter, said employee looks at me with this depressed, angry face and asks (very rudely) if I have a question. I tell him the reason for my visit and he responds by telling me (in his rude manner) that he doesn't think they'll get to me. I was told several times for my car because it was synthetic that it would be $49.99 plus tax. I verified that quote several times because i wanted no surprises when i arrived, and the pep boys customer service rep assured me that it would be as she said and not a penny more. I arrived at 10:45 a.m. for my 11:00 appointment and told them the reason i was there. For the next 10 minutes despite my protests and explanation of what their customer service rep had said they continued to raise the price on my oil change by over $20 dollars. they didn't care about what their own company had already quoted they didn't care about the customer in front of them, all they cared about was getting more money out of me.
