I only suggest an informed consumer take their vehicle here. Lazy employees and no professional supervision. The workers do the bare minimum to give themselves easy jobs and give ridiculous estimates and b.s. I took my car there for tires and inquired about having my AC evaluated and repaired. The repairs were quoted at a ridiculous price over $3000. Most likely a practice by someone who can't do a job or is lazy. Lucky for me I'm from a family of mechanics a MASTER ASE mechanic and my husband a mechanical engineer was with me when they gave me this information and he let them know the estimate was bs because he told them my car didn't even have the clutch condenser they claimed in the estimate and if they evaluated the car as they claimed to any mechanic would see and know that. Also the schmo mechanic was too busy sitting and rolling around on a tire in the checkout area flirting sitting and talking to the girls. Very unprofessional place run by children. My husband ordered the parts himself and repaired it himself in about an hour and my AC is working great never better. All for about $500. These corporate shops scam people left and right. i called to make appointment, no answer, then noticed I could make appointment online, easy enough. I make my appointment for 9:30 to wait for a tire balance. I get there at 9:30 and I'm told I have to leave car ! I have no one with me to leave it ! Why have online appointments if they don't work with shops schedule ‍‍ Business 101 , hardest part in business is for the customer to find you , easiest part it to keep them ! BEWARE: I dropped my car off in the evening requesting premium brake change and oil change Next morning I received call from Pep BOYS and was informed my brakes were good although I had a brake fluid leak somewhere and car was ready for pick up. I asked did someone drive the car to check the brakes & I was told Yes someone drove the car. I came to pick up car and paid for the oil change and received print out from PEP Boys that the brakes were checked & good condition although when I started car the brakes hit the floorboard. I went back in and informed young man behind desk. He went & spoke with his manager & informed me someone will recheck brakes. I was called a few hours later that I needed all new Brakes and cost was over $900.00 Of course at this point I do not trust them & spoke with manager letting her know I will pick up car. The manager then stated she cant let me take the car because its unsafe. I did pick up my car nevertheless. I Would Not Trust This Shop! They either checked brakes & were Incompetent or Did Not Check Brakes & Lied. Either way this is very shady BEWARE BEWARE!! read more

Very disappointed with Pep Boys in Haskell. I had taken 2 cars for tires and oil changes previously. I was told I needed front brakes and calipers which they quoted me over 1000 . I was Saturday and was told they couldn't get the parts untill Monday because it was closed . I called them later and said to asked if I can pick up my car The Manger asked why I said I think its abot pricey and I'd like to get a 2nd opinion. He was upset and Saud I'll owe 40 for the parts they ordered 2 hours previously. The supply company was closed he said and we stop the shipment and I'll have to pay the 40. I mentioned to him I was disappointed can he email them . He said no.its to late . I mentioned to him it was not appropriate to charge me. He than told me I don't understand and when I tried to talk he told me to be quite and listen. He was rude and unprofessional which shower me he has no idea of customer relations. If he would of said , I understand your disappointment and you've been a good customer. Let's try to work together to help you and what can we do for you to have us take care of your car. Terrible experience. We were a party of six and one meal came out 20 minutes before the other five. Kind of story.

Went for oil change and tire rotation. Left the wheel lock key on the front passenger floor in Lexus bag. Went outside and found the technician had gone through my entire trunk, glove box, and center consul with all paperwork on front seat. Approached and questioned why he was going through my personal belongings. The wheel lock was left in plain sight and or they could have asked me as I was in the waiting area. Manager came outside and was aggravated with me questioning why they went through my personal belongings. He became very vocal, using profanity, and became very aggressive. I thought I was going to be assaulted so I had to call the local police. In retaliation he also called the police. I have been a long time customer over the years, will never use this place again. read more

Ubaldo the manager is dishonest and the biggest jerk ive ever dealt with. They gave me a wheel alignment on my lifted van. I told them what kit it was. They didnt bother to do any hw. They told me they would have to do it without the aid of their computers and i said fine as long as they can do it. They said sure. Went on a long roadtrip. Halfway my front tires were destroyed. Futhermore the vehicle handled terribly. When i came back from the road trip i went back to pepboys trying to work something out. They basically told me to pound sand. It wasnt their fault. I was traveling up from Virginia and noticed a flat tire alert on my car. These guys were really close to my hotel so I called and they were able to fit me into their schedule. I was in and out within 30 minutes. Tire plugged and cost under $25 Relieved and happy. Oh. And they had a nice aRe for me to plug in and get some work done! read more

This place treated me poorly . I told them the code the truck had and what needed to be done. They charged me a diagnostic fee after I told them exactly what I wanted done. It was a simple job and they were much more expensive than the dealer. Oil changes? They are more expensive as well. They actually gave me a free oil change coupon when they realized I was annoyed. Had a fantastic experience on Wed sept 8. John the customer service advisor was a pleasure to deal with and was amazing on the phone with customers as the phone rang non stop while I was checking in. After my oil change he apprised me of the deal I could get by signing up for the pep boys CC, and I gladly did so. Regretfully I cannot recommend coming here. We went for a simple oil change but they kept bringing up problems with my car that should be fixed. I expected this because this is how they make their money and most of what they were saying needs fixing were simple repairs my husband would prefer to do himself. I kindly declined the suggestions. What I didn't expect were the fear tactics they began using. They told me I'd get a ticket for a blown light (which, when we checked it at home, wasn't entirely blown yet, only one of 5 bulbs were blown). One individual kindly told me my battery was low and presumed that my husband would want to change it soon. I thanked him and continued to wait. Twenty minutes later another individual came in asking if I wanted him to jump my car or change the battery. They never officially told me it stopped working, they simply led me to believe that my car died. (My car hasn't had any problems starting since then or prior to.) Again I declined and then he started saying it might have been a one time thing because of an unreliable battery and if I had anything plugged into my car that would drain it the night before (which I didn't, and I also had no problem starting it to drive my car there). While they told the "truth" they twisted it to cause me to panic and want my car fixed. Thankfully my husband told me to decline all repairs because they turned out to be far less immediate then the repair man had implied. I cannot trust that they are being honest therefore they have lost my business. We had our second car scheduled to bring in later that day but we cancelled and took it elsewhere. Yes, we paid more...but I won't go to a business that uses scare tactics in order to work further on my car. I will note that there was one individual I did like and trusted but unfortunately he was not the one working on my car. There is a possibility that we just got unlucky with the individual in charge that day but, regardless, we will not be returning. The money savings is not worth our time. (This whole debacle took an hour, which is way too long for an oil change anyhow.) read more

Fearing I would not be able to have the issue fixed until Monday, I called Pep Boys of Wanaque which was open on Sunday. I took my vehicle there this morning because it would not shift out of 1st gear and speedometer wouldn't work. Before I dropped it off I did some research and found out that it may be the TCU. A simple electrical fix. I dropped it off at Pep Boys and waited for the phone call with a diagnosis. They called me and told me I needed an entirely new transmission. And they are pricey as hell .They made me wait for 15 mins to even attend while they were having their sweet chit chat time and charged me over 350 bucks for replacing two blown tires of my Toyota Camry . I ended up paying less than that last time when I replaced all 4 tires in Walmart . I was informed that they only have those pricey ones in the inventory and I got to wait over 5 days to get a cheaper tire by one of the customer representative named OMAR. I didn't get any major work so i cannot speak on that end but i did get my flat fixed in a prompt and timely matter considering i didn't have any appointment. For a GREAT price too!!! I thought the staff was very sweet to myself and my 2 year old son that i was there with. While waiting, i actually had a very nice conversation with the gentleman in the front with the glasses that works at the register. I did not get his name but he was a nice guy and made waiting not so painful with a tired toddler! I also witnessed him help a woman with a quote for her tuneup and he was very patient and detailed with her. Hopefully i avoid the nails in the road in the future but if i had to, i Would come back again!! read more

I bought my truck in because of a soft brake pedal. I was told I had a bad master cylinder and booster pump for my brakes. It cost me a $1,100.00 and I still had a soft brake pedal. I took the truck to the dealer and they had to adjust the rear brake shoes and bleed the system. I would say the skills set of these mechanics are poor. read more

Employees (including management) was rude, not helpful, belittling and extremely unprofessional. I called them to get new tires on a work truck, which during this conversation, the employee on the other end of the phone was extremely rude w me because I didn't have the tire number for him. Called back w the tire number and was hung up on. I then went there and chose my tire type and the guy behind the counter went to the back and told me he "had eyes on the tires" and it wouldn't be a problem, truck would be ready by noon next day. I then paid for the tires and told them I would pay for the labor when I picked up truck next day. I heard nothing from them next day and figured I would just stop there on way home from work. When I got there my truck was in same spot I left it in. Went inside and was greeted by(who i found out later on) was the manager. Asked him what was going on and why I wasn't made aware that my truck wasn't going to be ready that day. His response was sarcastic and snarky, asking me "what the hell am I supposed to do? We don't have the tires and I can't just magically make them appear." So, these tires that the guy the day previous told me he had eyes on and were there just magically disappeared and I wasn't made aware of that. His responses to me were beyond obnoxious and extremely unprofessional. Was called later that evening by them, telling me truck would be ready next morning. Went to pay for labor on way home from work next evening and still no apology or reasoning for what happened. Paid rest of bill and got my keys so I could pick truck up later when I could get a ride back there. Truck was parked in front of garage bay, so I figured I would do the right thing, being I had the keys, and move it to a parking spot before leaving. When I turned truck on, tire pressure reading was on dash. Two tires at 48 pounds, one at 45 and one at 42... Tire pressure for these tires are supposed to be at 35 pounds. I went back inside to inquire and given response that their tire pressure gauge must be broken again... Funny because they had the tire pressures up on my dash. Again, no apologies and I went back outside to let air out of tires to bring them back to proper pressure.... Only to find out they didn't reset my sensors, so every reading was for the incorrect tire as I was trying to bring them back to 35 pounds ... This was a $600+ job that I paid for and I wouldn't go back there ever again, even if offered free tires. I am a foreman in a blue collar profession and would never speak to clients the way I was spoken to by them and also never half ass my job and expect the customer to suck it up, take the bullshit and just be happy w it! read more

This place is horrible. They are unfriendly & totally ignorant. Refused to assist me to change a tire. I had my 93 year old Mom in car. They just did not care. I was willing to pay whatever. For the time they argued with me over it the tire could have been changed. The mechanic was kind but was told by manager he could not change it. ON Thursday i went into Pep Boys on Ringwood Ave and met with John, he was friendly and supportive. I told him a needed a set of 4 tires for my Nissan. He provided 2 alternatives. I selected the higher end tire. He told me that they would be in on Friday but to check on Saturday since my appointment was scheduled for Sunday at12noon. I stopped in today (Saturday) and he wasn't sure of the delivery status. I asked if he could inflate my bad wire and he obliged. I explained that I would call back and confirm they schedule. About 2 hours later I called back and was told that John, who I just met with, was off today. I explained that I was just met with him and the responses was that John went home sick. The person who answered the phone check on my delivery. I was on hold more than 10 minutes and then was disconnected. I called back and was forwarded to Anthony. I explained the situation and he told me John had some personal business that needed his attention. Anthony then looked up my orders and seemed bewildered. He cam back to the phone and I told him not to bother. I made 1 call to Mavis in Oakland and it was taken care of. It's now 2 hours later and my tires are on the car. I WILL NBEVER DO BUSINESS WITH PEP BOYS IN WANAQUE AGAIN. Terrible at every phase of the process. read more

I literally just walked out of this place. I received no service. I stood at the front desk for 7 minutes before the employee walked in from the back. When he did he said and I quote " Oh". The phone started to ring, WHILE IM STILL STANDING THERE WAITING TO EVEN BE ADDRESSED, he picks up the phone and begins a transaction over the phone. I stood there for a further 8 minutes listening to this man help someone over the phone while I had been standing in his facility for 15 minutes. If you knew you did not want to serve me, obviously racially motivated, say that. And I could go somewhere else immediately that values my green money. If you're colored, stay away from Pep boys in Wanaque, specifically on Wednesday mornings because the employee lacks the ability to hide his racism. read more

I had my car checked today and they said there was a leakage in radiator and quoted me an unbelievable price of $1100 but i refused them to fix it because i don't believe it would cost that mich. but still they charged me $41 for their time to checked my car. Incredible service!! I couldn't be happier with my experience from the time I called to set up an appointment (I needed a wheel alignment) John helped me as soon as I walked in, professional, attentive and willing to answer any questions I had.. I didn't experience anyone pushing any different services that I didn't feel I needed. The place itself was very clean and comfortable I was able to wait while my car was being serviced.
