Brought my vehicle here today for new tires. 4 all weather tires for my Cadillac CTS ran about $450 with installation. It was a fair price and done in less than an hour and a half. The staff was friendly. They did not try to up charge me and did not point out any other things I needed done. I did inquire about changing my day time running light, but it was quoted at over $400, so I skipped that today. Seemed steep, but I will do more research! I took my 2010 Cadillac SRX with 111K miles on it for NYS Inspection yesterday and I confirmed what I already knew, one of the pinion bearings in the steering was shot and needed replacement. They explained in detail, told me what it would cost, and then told me that they had the parts in stock and could have the job done in 3 hours, WOW! Of course I told tghem to go ahead. Not only was the price right, they actually had the job done in 2.5 hours, including a front-end alignment and NYS Inspection, and the car handles and steers beautifully. I went there to purchase some items using a couple of Pep Boy gift cards, I heard that the retail parts stores were going to be closing so i better use the cards before they close up, picked up a item and went to purchase it at the register, they did not know how to cash out using the gift cards and i needed to return later when the only person with that knowledge would be there, Okay i came back in later got the item i wanted and proceeded to cash out with my gift cards, the person who knew how to do the gift cards took care of it, though the item rang up for significantly higher than the price on the shelf, I decided i was lucky that i even got to use the gift cards at all and i just left without mentioning the overcharge, I can see why the retail parts side is closing down, I will never shop at Pep Boys for parts or service ever again. Looking for tires for a while. It got to a point where my old caddy wasn't making it anywhere. It was time for tires. After shopping around and around I found a good deal on some starfires. A decent all season tire for $490 installed for the set. Made an appointment for Saturday morning. They got me right in and it took a little over an hour which wasn't bad. Got an email saying the car was done as well as a phone call. Went to pick it up and pay the price was $452. Yayy less than quoted!! On the way home the car started shaking over 40 mph. A sign of the tires not being balanced currently. Ugh I knew I should have just done it myself. I drove it for a little trip the day after to see if the tires had flat spots and maybe would go away but no such luck. I will be calling to have them rebalanced. Good deal,good service, very convenient but if I got to go back...WTH. Update! One of the service writers called me Monday morning and we set up a time for me to drop it off. Jasen and Brandon (the service writers) were very helpful and courteous. Drop the car off and it was done with in the hour. Rebalanced and ready to go. I needed a build for the car so I decided hey maybe they can give me a deal because of the inconvenience. I get it and bring it up to pay and it's the store manager at the register. He's on the phone with a disgruntled customer. Complaining about her new mirror doesn't work now. Believe he told me all about it. Swearing left and right. Meanwhile I front of everyone. So here's my chance to get some money off. I have a fifty and a twenty in my wallet. I don't want to break the $50 and the bulb was $22. I said I want to keep this under $20 for the inconvenience of bringing my car back. The look this guy gives me. It's like I was asking to take the light bulb. ITS ONLY TWO DOLLARS. He swears a little more at me and I take my bulb and get out. By the way the car isn't right still. It's better but not right. read more

Went and got oil change at pep boys in Greece on Greece Rd. After I picked up my car and drove to work the first day I noticed the weird smell coming from the car. My boyfriend noticed the oil was leaking because he saw droplets on our driveway. He looked under the hood and the oil cap was NOT on! It was SITTING on top of the radiator!!! There was oils spilled all over the engine if my car!!! We brought it back to pep boys and told them what happened. The technician looked up the video cam and he was telling us that his technician did everything right!! I ask him how did the oil cap ended up sitting on the radiator? His reply was ' I don't know what happened but my technician did everything right.' So we looked at the video together the video was hard to tell because of the angle of the camera. It never really show if he put the cap back on or not because his body blocked that view! All I want is for them to apologize and fixed the problem but they decided to debate that what happened wasn't coming from their careless work. Since they don't want to take the blame So I guess the oil cap itself decided to come off and decided to sit on top of the radiator just to ruin my car for fun!! read more

I've been coming here for years, not anymore after today. Today I brought my car in for inspection after doing a lot of work on it myself to get the car to pass. They failed me for a whole bunch of other stuff, including cracked head/tail lights (this was the only viable part to fail according to the NYSDMV inspection checklist), a small tear on my alternator belt (not on the list), and even my wipers. They didn't tell me about the wipers until after they had taken me away from my vehicle after showing me what needed to be repaired. If they had told me about the wipers while we were standing there I would've been able to tell them to their face they were full of crap. There's absolutely nothing wrong with them, they just wanted to sell me wipers to knock up the bill. They said it'd be $1100 to get a new inspection sticker on my car. I paid for the failed inspection, left, ordered all the parts necessary besides the wipers (because they're fine) for $110 and will install the parts myself in my friend's garage with a lift. The cherry on top was that they broke my hood latch release lever and didn't say a damn thing about it. Assholes. read more

I have used this Pep Boys many times, however I will never go there again. On three separate occasions I have brought three different cars there and the very next day had tire issues. The first car was in for an oil change only and they told me I needed new tires. I told them to go ahead and request it from the fleet company and then let me know. The very next day as I headed out of town one of my tires started reading at low pressure and I had to put air in it daily before I could go anywhere, no leaks were found and I had to get all new tires. I had to cancel scheduled work appointments because they were several hours away. Next, I took my personal car in for an oil change. The tire had previously been patched but was having zero issues, holding pressure and looking great. The very next day I left for a trip to NC and had to stop and put air in it several times before I made it to a store to be told I had to buy a new tire. This last time I took a new fleet vehicle in for an oil change, the next day I got a flat tire over an hour from home on the thruway. The tow company searched my tire for me, found nothing and told me because of the wear on the wall, this tire was no longer usable. I took it back in to PepBoys and they told me they found a nail between the treads and they patched it. When I brought my concerns to the manager about three different cars having tire issues right after being serviced at their store all he could tell me was- there was a nail in the tire, it's not his fault and I'm lucky he got it in and fixed it right away without an appointment. He didn't want to hear anything I had to say or address any of my actual concerns. I've spent a lot of money at Pep Boys over the years bringing multiple cars in there, but I won't be using them anymore for anything. After waiting two hours for a scheduled oil change because they had no filters in stock (scheduled... this should have been planned for) I was told I was lucky to get my tire fixed so quickly. I didn't ask for it to be done quickly, we brought it in Saturday and didn't pick it up until Monday. read more

The company truck needed brakes and tires, and being based in Missouri we needed to get the brakes done while we waited. The shop manager told us it would take an hour, but we waited 3 1/2 hours. Not to mention the famous "buy 3 tires get 1 free" wasn't true. There was only one brand of tires that the deal held true. The shop tried to give us the regular run around of "this needs fixed and you'll need this" much of the things they tried pointing out we're able to wait until the truck was able to get to the shop in Missouri. This pep boys shop is the average shop that tries to suck every dime they can out of you. I don't recommend it, but if it's a last minute option and you're in a pinch it will work. Service used to be good here. Now I have to wait hours for something as simple as an oil change. Everything regarding service is way over priced and they always say there are additional problems with your car. The last time I was there they wanted $850 to replace only the rear break lines on a small sedan. They also told me that the transmission didn't work and they disabled the E-break. The transmission works just fine and so did the E-break before I brought it there. They made the car inoperable so that it would stay on their lot. I had to pay a tow company to get it out if there. I had it examined and fixed at another shop for less than half of what Pepboys wanted. I don't recommend that anyone goes here for service or parts. It's a complete rip off. read more

Pretty conveniently located off Ridge and North Greece Rd, this particular location has been my go-to place for car work for a number of years. The guys in the service dept are very personable and are willing to help in the best way possible. We get most of our work done here. Sometimes, if you have something minor to replace, ie a light bulb or your wiper blades, you buy the part off the shelf and they'll put it on for you. Sure, it's easy to do, but sometimes the little things matter. They don't try to con you into doing more than what is necessary either, something I've gotten good at catching at other places. read more

Get your estimate in writing. Got an estimate and set up the appointment for a Saturday. The guy that set it up was off and didn't put the estimate in the system so the guy that was there Saturday couldn't figure out why there was an $80.00 price difference. He finally figured it out and was very understanding. It was unnecessary stress I had to go through on my day off.im not going to hold it against them that when I got in the car the low tire light was still on and just got out of there before I got even More ticked off. read more

I wouldn't go here for anything more complicated than an oil change or tire rotation. I called and asked if they could change my alloy tires (which require tightening to a certain torque) and they told me they could. A day later I was driving through town and I heard a horrible rattling noise. I stopped the truck and looked and my front tire was coming loose! I managed to tighten it enough to get it back to Pep Boys, where they told me they couldn't fix it. I had to call my parents to get them to bring my winter tires over just so I could get home. If you want a lot of double speak and confusion, shop at this location. You can always count on these guys to squeeze you for every dime. I had a part replaced, only to be told on my next visit (3 days later) that the part would have to be replaced again, at twice the price by the way. After several calls and e-mails I am still not compensated just repeatedly told I don't know what I'm talking about and "Sorry, it must have been explained wrong to you." Deon looked them up in the computer, went outside to look at my wipers, went back inside and helped me find the right ones, then installed them for me. He is great!
