HORRIBLE customer service! DO NOT GIVE them your BUSINESS. We were headed home from CA and the tread came off our tire. We thought we were in luck with a pep boys right off the freeway. It was 4:15 when we pulled up. They refused to help us since they closed at 5. Asked if they would help us get the spare on our sprinter van and he said no. Asked if they had a jack we could use. Again the answer was no. Asked if we could pay for any assistance No. Refused to help us at all. Clearly we were in need. ***update we went over to Wal-mart and they were so helpful! Ryan was upset that I showed up at 10 and my appointment was at 11, however when I originally schedule the appointment I was contacted right away with a cancellation and a reschedule so I am not sure if I got the time mixed up or Pepboys. I'm sure this location does an awesome job. If they have a technician for a specific job, you need to be done. Brought my vehicle in on two different occasions. And they did not have a technician for what I needed done. A phone call for an heads up would be great before we make the drive up there. I was a loyal customer about 5 years back until I moved out of the area. They've done terrific work for me in the past on whatever I needed. Now, it just seems like all they do is tires and oil changes. Hell, I can go to Walmart for that. I'm not bashing this location, but come on. Call the customer and let them know ahead. read more

I had been having an issue with my brakes not responding reliably. I'd have to change gear to neutral sometimes to get it to activate. It freaked me out because I felt out of control of the vehicle. I went to my mechanic, but he didn't know what was wrong. So, I said let me give Pep Boys a try, free inspection, maybe they'll know. The gentleman validated my experience when he said he could feel it too. They were kind and courteous. Within the hour, the tech found the problem. I had a strut replaced a while back and apparently they unplugged the vacuum sensor. They plugged it back in! Easy Peasy! I asked about my brakes, they said I had plenty of time to change them. Today's visit was free of charge. I literally jumped for joy because this brake thing was absolutely unnerving and no one knew what it could be. They did and they didn't sell me brakes, something I was sure I needed. Super impressed, extremely grateful. read more

I went in to drop up over $2000 on 5 rims and tires. When I walked up to the sales man, ingacio, I stood there for a few awkward minutes before he asked me what I needed without looking from his computer. Wearing these masks I never realized how awkward it can be trying to talk to a stranger about what you need without a single glance in my direction . Told him what I needed and he responded with, sorry we don't have anything for a Ford focus. Sorry we can't help you. I really came in just to compare the quote I received the day before from discount tires who spent over an hour working with me on exactly what I wanted. So disappointed. I got brand new tires put on 2 days ago. When I picked up my car the tire light was on. I thought it was weird but I thought it would turn off after driving home. The next day my front left tire was flat. Terrible service, instead of replacing the tire and their mistake they just patched my tire because there was a nail in it. A nail from THEIR SHOP. My daughter has a 2021 Chevy Trax and the AC hasn't been getting very cold. We decided to go to Pep Boys because they offer a free AC checkup. (Screenshot from their website shown below.) She called and scheduled an appointment for today. She told them her vehicle's make, model, and year and that she wanted the free AC inspection. After dropping the car off she received a call saying it would cost $150 for the "Free" inspection because her vehicle uses R1234yf freon. There is no mention on the website that they charge if you have that type of freon. It's also a fact that all 2021 Chevy Trax SUVs use R1234yf freon, which they should know. So why did they waste her time to schedule a "Free" checkup when they knew that they weren't going to do it for free? If they won't do free checkups for vehicles with R1234yf Freon, why don't they say it on their website? It's a big scam and I'll never go back there. read more

I very recently used Pep Boys online oil change reservation system. I made a reservation at the Pep Boys, on Desert, in Goodyear. I received a confirmation in the Pep Boys system. I drove there for my appointment and greated the service person, who asked if I had an appointment. I replied I did. He then asked when I made the appointment. After I replied 'the day before', he dismissed me saying that it was cancelled and that I should have received a cancellation. So I turned on my heals and walked out I WILL NEVER CONTACT NOR WALK INTO A PEP BOYS EVER AGAIN!! AND I'LL WARN YOU TO BE VERY CAREFUL, RELYING ON THEM. THEY REALLY DON'T CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS. Well, I checked my emails and texts. Absolutely no cancellation communication came in from Pep Boys, and they had my addresses which I had input into their reservation system. I did find my way back to their confirmation system, and there it had changed my confirmation to say cancelled, BUT PEP BOYS NEVER ALERTED ME TO THE CHANGE. My advice ... don't ever use Pep Boys! They called me and left a message saying they would reschedule for later "Hella _⁠_⁠_⁠_ _⁠_ to a customers _⁠_⁠_⁠_ to reschedule for a later time tomorrow for a different day just give us a call back" I am assuming they actually said "or" a different day. When I called they said they couldn't get me in for a week. They said there must be something wrong with the online system. I found out they will change oil using the oil and filter you choose in the store. I drive commercially and buy premium synthetic oil by Royal Purple. I also use their filter. Nice that Pep Boys stock this product. They also offer an active duty or former military discount. read more

Brought in my Nissan Altima to Goodyear Arizona pep boys. My ac had been going working on and off for a week. Took it in spoke to Ignacio about me thinking it was my compressor. To please check that first because I knew it would be a very hefty bill. A day later they tell me I have to pay 180 for a recharge and evac to check for a leak... I accepted figured that was their price for checking if it was a compressor or not. Another day goes by no call. The following day I get a call stating it's a hose and the cost would be 580, so around 680 after recharge... they order the part. They call me Wednesday of the following week. Tell me to pick up my car that everything is working. Less than 10 minutes after picking up my car. AC is blowing hot. I take it back. They look at it. Recharge it. Tell me everything is fine. Pick it up again. NOTHING WAS DONE AC STILL BLOWING HOT. Today Aug 7th they call me 5:10 pm and tell me it MY COMPRESSOR... So now Ryan who I've been dealing with this entire time tells me. It's what I thought it was all along. And he wants me to pay 1,500 on top of the almost 700 I spent there. Along with my time going back and forth with no car... So I'm down 700 dollars from this place. And a vehicle that has not been fixed. With a new hose that didn't need to be replaced. .. sent this exact email to "customer service" they gave me case number 735835, transferred my to the store after holding forever. So i could speak to RYAN.. completely oblivious hat i had filed a complaint. oh and dont forget to let me add how they messed up my hood.. to where it wouldn't close it, have to get that fixed as well read more

They like to cancel the appointments without a reason, and they don't send an email or a phone call. Pretend they can't find your info.

Due to a service agreement with my lease I'm required to go to Pep Boys to have the vehicle serviced. I always schedule appointments, but have never left faster much before 2 hours. If anything else is needed on the vehicle, don't expect a phone call to keep you updated on your car. The amount of aimless pacing the service advisors do leaves them too busy to update customers. I'm a patient customer and usually give people the benefit of the doubt, but I've found with Pep Boys I must constantly ask for updates or my car will sit for hours with nothing being done. Again, this is WITH an appointment. If they don't have time to work on my vehicle at a scheduled time, imagine if you have a flat or something unplanned happen to your car. read more

Don't go here if you want to get your car parts replaced within 2 years of replacing them the first time. I went to get my water pump and thermostat replaced for my Chevy Cruz 2 years ago. Writhing 4 days the thermostat had broken again. Now a week ago, the water pump had started leaking and needed to get replaced as well. Tried to call the manager of this pep boys to see if there was a warranty and never got a response. Went in for a check up for my Toyota Prius with an appointment and was told that they will call me witting an hour or 2. Its closing time and no one called, I called the store to be told that they could t check my car because it was a hybrid. Seriously? I lyft back to the store asked for my keys and to politely asked for a manager, Adrian said there was no manager and asked what was my issue. There was a time Pep Boys could not do wrong, had several different vehicles worked on. Made an appointment for a oil change, and ended up waiting almost 3 hours. What is the purpose of appointments?? Several weeks later, the battery light came on. Pep Boys, can you please check the battery and if need to be, replace it. Young man is making notes, and he back with a quote for $ 280.00. WHAT ? Well yeah, the battery is $200.00 and $80.00 for parts and labor and taxes. I went across the street to Sam's Club, attendant checked -- Battery is good, no need to replace it. Cost --- NO CHARGE ! I don't think this is the way to make friends and retain customers, or, maybe -- Pep Boys think so. I had this same overpricing issue before in the same store with brakes. read more

I received an email confirmation confirming my appointment. I took my car in and was told by the service manager Ignacio that they were too busy to take care of my vehicle. I went here about six months ago or so to get my brakes serviced, and part of the package purchased included a tire rotation. Last month my car started shaking, and I thought there was a bubble in the tire. Pep Boys was going to charge $50 just to LOOK at my tires and see if it was a problem with the tire or the alignment (and that doesn't include any repair services). I took my car to a shop next door where they looked at the tires for free and it turns out that my tires had NEVER been rotated - and that I had a bubble in my front left tire. Shortly after replacing, my front right tire separated. These tires would have lasted months and months longer if I had actually received the tire rotation that I paid for. I still have my receipt from the service at Pep Boys and it was definitely listed on there. They have also misdiagnosed things several times; last year I took my car in because it made a squeaking noise when I braked and I figured that I needed my pads adjusted. I was told that a wheel bearing was loose and that I was going to need a $500 repair in addition to the pad adjustment. I responded that I was just going to take my car to the dealership since that would be under warranty and have the adjustment taken care of there too. Suddenly they were mistaken and the wheel bearing was fine, all I needed was a brake pad adjustment. They will overcharge you for services that most other places will do for free, won't actually provide you with the services that you pay for, and a lot of the employees don't seem to actually understand what they're talking about. read more

So these guys put 4 tires on my car and had my tpms sensor light on after installation. About a week goes by and I call about it and they said it should reset. 3 more weeks goe by and here we are today. They told me that they didn't break anything took no accountability and suggested that I pay for a new sensor when I know exactly what happened. During tire improper removal the side wall snagged the sensor and damaged the body I know this because buddy he kept saying it was a bad sensor. I went to Pep Boys to get an alignment for my Acura. I told the fellow at the desk what I wanted. He said it would be $89 plus a fee of $19.50 to go over the suspension. I told him I knew it may need some other work but right now I needed the alignment as I had just installed front struts. He kept telling me he had to charge me the 19.50 even after explaining I did not want it. I finally gave up and went next door to S & S tire who charged me $69.00 and did the job to my satisfaction in 1.5 hours. The fellow at Pep Boys was rude and very unprofessional.
