A complete waste of time to go here! We took my car in today because a screw had punctured the tire and we had previously purchased road hazard insurance for the tires about a year and a half ago. When we got there, they said it would take 30 minutes to fix. In actuality, it took 2.5 hours. At the end of the 2.5 hours they said the tread was too low to patch the tire (something they could have said after maybe 15 minutes) and tried to sell us expensive brand new tires. We waited in the waiting room for about an hour and a half of the time where we got to look at the mechanics doing nothing to our car, sitting around, eating Fritos, talking with each other, and occasionally working on other peoples' cars who came in after we did instead of attending to our car. Came for inspection on car knowing everything was legit and they broke a headlight that was working this morning and only 6 months old, trying to tell me it came in like that. Stuck now with an extra 35 dollar charge for a 9 dollar bulb, and hostage to their fixing it coz they said they'd fail it if I took it up to carquest to get my 9 dollar bulb. I went to pepeboys last week to get an oil change and alignment to get home to see that one of my tires has a big ball After I saw the not I immediately called pep boys on 4/22 and told them what was wrong they said come back and we will replace it Today I noticed that not only one but theee of my tires have big balls on the tires and one of my tires blow out on this highway I immediately go to @pepboysauto and told them what happen , the manager on duty in Garner NC Tony immediately said you had to hit something After he tried to argue with me outside and inside in front of customer he goes to ask me , be honest with me , don't lie , @pepboysautoHe said I know that you hit something be honest to me bruh ,implying cause im black that bruh is ok or the only word that I use, I then tell him I want my tires fixed and that I'm not paying for anything , and I leave my car at the business assuming that they will handle the issues of my life being at danger .At 1:46 I get a call from Tony saying I talked to the District Manager Bryan Bailey and he said we can only do $150 I said no please connect me other Mr Bailey he immediately said no and that he called him on his cell phone , I then said please have him give me a call ( my car is still there and it's now 3:11 ) I called back up at 2:21 spoke to Tony who then mentions that he has forgotten to call Bryan Bailey to resolve the issue I'm sitting here on Sunday at 3:12 with no car I want my money back that I spent on the tires pr I want my tires fixed now . read more

Total ripoff. Too bad you can't give 0 stars. First time they told me it would cost me $630 and several days to wait on a part to fix my suburban. Know how much it cost me elsewhere? Just under $80. I swore off pep boys then but my wife still had a lesson to learn. She took her car in this afternoon and we knew the problem beforehand. There was a small leak in the AC line. After she waited for over an hour and was charged $50 to put dye in the system (even though there was already dye in the system and she told the guy at the desk that) the quote for the "minor" repair came back. Quote was for over $2300!!! Yup that's right. They wanted to replace the entire system. She paid her $50 and left. It'd be nice to at least be wined and dined before I get f***ed!!! read more

I would give this place zero stars if possible. I couldn't have felt more uncomfortable here. As an attractive woman, I HATE going into car places and getting ogled and overcharged, so this time I brought my fiance with me for protection :) We were waiting for my tires to get put on and we overheard a customer asking about the tires that were just put on his car. Apparently they put on the wrong tires. The customer was a little upset, as to be expected, but he sat down and waited for 30 more minutes. All of a sudden the man got up, went to the desk and asked how much longer it would take, the staff said another hour. The man got really upset that is was taking more than double the time even though they made the error. The manager then started yelling at the customer saying he needs to calm down. The man then asked for his original tires back cause he wanted to leave and they said they couldn't give them back. Just a lot of BS. It was super inappropriate and very uncomfortable for the rest of the customers. We couldn't have gotten out of there faster. We are NEVER going back. Yuck!!! read more

I was having problems with coolant leaking very quickly, had the pressure check completed and found the faulty hose that was rubbing against a pulley from a different previous mechanic's handywork... They didn't have the right hose in stock but spent about ten minutes calling around and found one for cheap at the AutoZone down the street and installed it for me that evening right at or slightly after closing. Jason and Marc were friendly the whole time and it ended up being cheaper for labor than I anticipated. Will visit again. read more

I gotta say, I've had the pleasure of working for Pep Boys in Garner and yes, Richard is a complete dumbass! He has no automotive knowledge except for the fact that he was at one time a used car salesman which means that he don't care for you or anyone except for the money in your pocket. He seems to have a very bad drug addiction and probably super high when he's at work. His gimmick is to bring you in, promise you a time and make you happy. Well, when you get there and a Service Advisor writes up your ticket cause he won't, he doesn't even know how to use the computers there! Anyways, he'll sit you down and there you wait till your car gets done in a time that was not promised at all and you leave mad. Another thing I would like to bring to attention is when you walk in to get work done, be prepared to get sold a bunch of stuff. But don't blame the techs or the Service Advisors, they are just doing there job to save there job. Corporate wants every workorder that goes through the system a minimum of $250, so basically walk in knowing they are gonna try to sell you $250 worth of stuff you may or may not need. It sucks, but with a corporate company as greedy as Pep Boys, you can't help it. Service Advisors there make $7.00 an hr starting and you get fed a bunch of BS about how well the commission is and etc etc.......But reality is the commission blew more than a prostitute on the walk way and the hourly pay was just plain aweful. No one can survive off of that, and if they did, they still lived at home with there parents with no bills kinda like a couple of coworkers there. Not hatin on them, but let's be real. I can live good off of $500 bi-weekly not paying any bills or rent. Yes I said $500 bi-weekly. A good check would be $650 bi-weekly. WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!!! Oh and if you get sick or are in the hospital, expect Richard to call and harass you about your job being on the line because you cannot control being sick. That place made me sick! 2 1/2 years working there and have spent more time in that place than Richard has, and I was told my position along with other was let go due to payroll budget cuts. Really? The company has opened a bunch of new stores, got handed $50million dollars when a buyer backed out of the deal and on top of that. store profits were high! So in the end, I no longer work there, work at a new shop with better pay and very blessed for my current job and thankful for the opportunities. I have never taken a real vacation with Pep boys, but I was able to recently at my current job and still have money left over in the bank. Thank you Support your local independent shops, we are honest and won't sell you something you won't need and tire deals.......we got corporate places beat as well. I shouldn't be surprised at my experience with Pep Boys in Garner today; I read all of the terrible reviews on multiple websites. But they had an open availability in the evening (that should have been my first clue, right?), and their store manager, Richard, was very friendly on the phone. The other gentleman I spoke with, Keith, was also very nice. Set up my appointment and said that there was no need to arrange a ride. My alignment would take 35-45 minutes from the time I walked in to the time I walked out the door. While I waited in the lobby, I stared out into the parking lot at my car for 55 minutes. No one so much as walked out the door to look at it. I was just about to get up and leave when they took it in. Keith even set me up with a $10 off coupon. I didn't even get a mile down the road before I turned around. My car was drifting MORE to the right than it was when I brought it in. Apparently the dude working on it said there was "no way the machine was wrong, it must be my tires". They rotated them, and not 10 minutes later my car was back up on the lift for another alignment (shocker, right?). Let's take a quick breather to note that while I was waiting for my car, another woman was in the waiting room on the phone with Pep Boys' customer service because they couldn't find the reservation she had made online, and also would not take her coupon. Sooooo after another 15 or so minutes, dude man test drives my car and said, "it felt good to him, but I would need to drive it myself to see".... REALLY?! GUESS WHAT?! Still drifting to the right. Took the car home and had my boyfriend drive it to make sure I'm not crazy (I'm not.)... BACK to Pep Boys I go. I even heard another guy say, "she's back again???". After Keith had another chat with his buddy in the back, they decided that there wasn't anything further they could do, and refunded my money. The manager who came to approve the transaction didn't even acknowledge my presence, other than to mumble, "is cash okay I hope???". Nice job, Pep Boys... never going back there again. I went yesterday to get my tires rotated. I called ahead to ask about times and was told that it would take a while. Not minding the wait, I went. When I walked in, the manager was looking at something on the computer screen and didn't bother to look up. I said "Excuse me..." and got no response TWICE. Finally, he put up a finger indicating to give him a second. FIVE MINUTES LATER, I finally got a "What do you want?" from him. Taken aback by his awful rudeness, I simply stated that I had been the one that called and needed a tire rotation. HIs respnse you might ask: "It's going to take a very long time". He then picked up the phone and proceeded to talk to somebody for FIVE MINUTES never once offering me any other help or looking up my information in the system. I had the most horrific experience I have ever had at a car repair shop in this PepBoys. On 6/21/2015, I went into this shop for a Safety Inspection, Oil change, and front brake repair. The total cost was $243.45 and I paid thinking in good faith they had done the needful. Guess what - they did not do the Inspection! I found out as I was driving off the parking lot and noticed I had no confirmation/sticker to confirm it was done. I went back in the store, and they asked for the keys to my car. When I asked why, they said the Inspection had not been done! I drove home and the next morning my engine light was on - not just on, but FLASHING - suggesting something wrong w/ the catalytic converter! I drove immediately back to this Pep Boys, spoke with the so-called manager who stated: the check engine light can come on anytime. Just because I had the car in the shop less than 24 hours earlier does not mean that this new issue was caused by them. Then I agreed for them to run a diagnostic which yeilded- "Engine misfire - cylinder 4. He provided me with an estimate for repairing this problem - over $500. Really - do I look like I would let you touch my car ever again? I took it to another shop around the corner - guess what, this shop owner said PepBoys hadn't performed the oil change I had already paid for at !!! The oil was filthy, clumpy, and old - not like a very recent oil change should look. I realize when you take your care to a repair shop unless you know about cars you really have to have faith and trust in the shop where you take it. Therefore, this is why I a writing this post: PEOPLE BEWARE - ENTER THIS SHOP FOR CAR REPAIRS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! They do not know what they are doing and they are not to be trusted! UPDATE 6/10/2015: Happy to report I received a call yesterday from the store manager with an apology and a total refund! Absolutely a 180 degree about-face from my original experience at this PepBoys . I am grateful for the olive branch and accept it willingly. I have never had issues with Pep Boys in the past and frequently had my oil changes done and auto parts bought at the Garner location on 70. Today I went in to have my oil changed, as I frequently do, but since it was so busy, I set up an appointment for the afternoon. I went in for my appointment to get the conventional oil change and was told my car was not able to get that oil change, but would have to get the more expensive oil change. Funny, I have always gotten the conventional oil change there and had even previously had Pep Boys look up the make and model to ensure this to be true. So now I go in and after all the business I have given them, they are going to try to upcharge me on a service? I don't know if it's simple incompetence on the part of the person behind the counter, or out and out deceit, but either way, they just forever lost my business. Here's the best way I know to explain my appreciation for this Pep Boys location and its staff: I spent three hours driving my van 17 miles from Morrisville, with a non-functioning water pump, to get it to this specific location and into the hands of these specific mechanics. I first used this location several months ago when my van's starter failed on a Sunday afternoon. My wife, who is in a wheelchair, was with me, and our van has a wheelchair lift installed. With a non-functioning van, I had no way to get her home. The staff stayed nearly two hours past closing so I could get her home. Have brought my van back here a couple of times since and have not been disappointed. They treat me well and have dealt with me fairly and honestly, qualities that I value in anyone I do business with. Minus one star for sometimes taking a little longer than I'd like and for a waiting area that could definitely be a little more welcoming, but if those are the worst complaints I have, I'm doing pretty well. read more

I had some major work done on my car this week-end and they did what they said they would do, and in the time promised. These guys have had my business for the past 6 years and there have been good days and bad. But the good far outweighs the bad. When I go in for service they don't treat me like a 'girl' , they treat me like a car owner. I do my homework so I can make educated decisions with the staff. I call ahead if I know my time is tight to be sure I can get in & out as needed. They have always been up front & honest. Richard Pro, the service manager runs a tight ship. My truck spent 10 days at this place while they were waiting for parts to come in. When I got the call that it was ready and I went to pick it up I discovered that they actually managed to break more than fix: The break light would not turn off anymore, the steering was loose, I had a hole in my passenger seat and to top it all: The original problem still existed. After complaining to the manager I was told that they would make it right (how they were going to make a hole in the seat right is beyond me) It took them another 3 hours to patch the hole (which looked like a glob of glue) and fix the breaklights. After telling the manager that the steering is still loose, he started yelling at me, that this was normal, so I left. My husband took the truck to the dealer where they discovered that a bolt on the steering wheel was not tightened causing it to be loose. Who let's a customer drive off like that? That's dangerous. This place is a joke, needless to say, I will not return or recommend this place. read more

Poor customer service. Went in today to get a part. Walked in and no one greeted me. 3 employees at the register BS-ing with a customer. I walked to the parts counter and no one was there. Waited about 5 minutes and no one came. I stared at the 3 employees STILL BS-ing with the same customer just to be ignored. I stormed out in aggravation past these 3 employees and no one cared to ask if I needed help. Glad there is an ADVANCED AUTO PARTS right next door. I went there and they helped me find what I needed. Buyer beware DO NOT USE! I took my vehicle in to get a part fixed & Pep Boys over charged me on everything expect maybe the coolant. AllData said .4, Indentifix said .4 and Mitchell said .8 & I was charged 1.1 to R/R the coolant reservoir. When I called to inquire about this I was told they use Identifix & it shows 1.1. Now that I have proof that Identifix shows .4 now Pep Boys is saying the use their own labor guide. When I asked for a store Mgr I kept being transferred right back to the same guy I busted lying even though I was told the Mgr was in by the lady that answered the phone. When their hourly rate is $140 that time adds up to a lot money out of the customers pocket that they are essentially stealing oh and by thr way the hourly rate per online says it's 125 but I was charged 140. The part they fixed they charged me $51.78 but the price for the part in their store and online is $26.99. Why did they mark it up its not like they had to get it elsewhere like a small repair shop has too. They made a profit on the same part on 2 separate occasions once going on the shelf and then when they upped it on the service side. Shop fees are outrageously high also. read more
